Lab Report On Kinetics Of Alcohol Oxidation
Lab Instructor s Name: Zhen Qiao
Student s Name: Nhu Duong
Section # CHEM 102 110
Experiment #6
Date of the experiment: 01/29/2016
Title: KINETICS OF ALCOHOL OXIDATION
Drexel University Winter 2016
Introduction:
This report concerns the experiment of determining the order of reaction and the kinetic rate
constant of alcohol oxidation. This experiment relates to the knowledge of chemical kinetics, the
application of Beer s Law, and other calculations.
Chemical kinetics involves the examination of reaction rates, which are the speeds of chemical
reactions. There are chemical reactions which proceed in long periods of time as well as chemical
reactions proceeding in short periods of time. Regarding reaction rates, the reaction order and
kinetic rate constant are considered.
Take a general reaction in solution for instance: aA+bB⇌Product(s) The reaction rate is calculated
using the following function: rate=kгЂ–[A]гЂ—^x гЂ–[B]гЂ—^y
Where [A] and [B] are the concentrations of A and B in the solution, unit: mol/L or M; x and y is
the reaction order of A and B respectively; k is the kinetic rate constant, its unit depends on the
order of the reaction.
The values of x and y are the partial order corresponding to A and B. The sum of x and y is the
overall reaction order. The values of x and y can be either negative or positive. They can also be
either integer or fractional. The reaction rate can be understood as how fast the reactants are
consumed or how fast the

Electronic Communication and Society
Electronic Communication and Society In today s world, it is very difficult to go anywhere
without seeing the impact that technology has had on societies everywhere. From homes to schools
to the workplace, the impact of technology has been tremendous. Everything from appliances to
machines, from phones to cars, everything has become and still is becoming more modernized in
ways people would never have imagined ten years ago. The same can be said for computers and
communicationtechnology. Currently, it is very rare to find someone that does not have a cellular
phone or a computer. Cell phones have become a standard for people of all ages. From school
aged children to the elderly, almost everyone owns one. In the same sense, just... Show more content

Family and friends who live at a distance are now in touch with one another much more frequently
and easily (Riney). Not only is e mail important for communication at home, it is also used in
school. Currently colleges set up e mail accounts for every one of their students as well as
faculty. Important messages about events or class scheduling are often sent by e mail rather
than paper mail. This makes it much easier because the university does not have to print copies
and then have someone to address them and send them out. They can send it to every one with
just a few button clicks. Students also use this e mail as their personal e mail address. They give
it out to friends and family and receive everything through this account. They may also use it to
communicate with classmates about assignments or to contact an instructor. It has made it
much easier to ask a professor a question because you don t have to worry about catching them in
the office. It also makes it easier on the teacher because they don t have to stay in their offices
quite so much, but as a result they have more work to do when they are at home. If we didn t
have electronic communications, I think I could leave work at the office more easily. Of course, I
would have to stay at the office more to get things done too (Lindsey). With many classes being
online, any questions from people in these classes will all come

Media Bias
The media today has become a topic of concern for many members of the general population. Am
I getting a reliable source of information? Is this source withholding the truth and ameliorating a
topic? If I know that the information being reported is false, how can I trust that any other
information from this source can be trusted? These are several questions that a particular citizen
might make on a day to day basis, and when the question of bias is thrown into the mix, an
overwhelming feeling of mistrust in our media can ensue. Media sources today are siding more and
more towards their viewers political views, and this creates a form of media bias that can spread
untrustworthy information out into the public. Depending on your media source,... Show more

Many members of the general public have caught onto the ruse of mass media outlets, and are
starting to not trust them. A Gallup poll from the somewhat recent year of late 2016 has shown
that Americans trust in mass media has fallen to a record setting low. For the general
population, only 32 percent of Americans trusted the media outlets reports with a great deal of
trust or a fair amount of trust . A deeper look into the polling shows that only 14 percent of
population who classify as Republican trust the media a great deal or a fair amount. This could
be due to the bias against Republicans in certain media sources, or it could fall into something
deeper. As for age groups, ages 18 49 have shown 26 percent in the same trust rating, while 50
and older shows 38 percent. The difference in percentages due to age are most likely due to the
technological fluency of younger generations. Better understanding of technology can allow for a
person to dig deeper into what is true or false in the media

America Needs the Patriot Act Essay example
Is the Patriot Act Unconstitutional? The Patriot Act was introduced in 2001 after the September 11
attacks. The Patriot Acts purpose is to deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around
the world. The Patriot Act Is meant to help stop terrorism by making it easier to get search warrants
for suspected terrorists. The purpose of the Patriot Act is to enable law enforcement officials to
track down and punish those responsible for the attacks on 9/11 and to protect against any similar
attacks. The Act grants the government the powers to trace and intercept terrorist communications
both for law enforcement and intelligence purposes. This means that the government can use wire
taps, monitor email traffic, confiscate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the patriot act, intelligence agencies were not allowed to share information with each other
making it more likely for a terrorist attack to happen. People support it because they fear terror
attacks and say that they have nothing to hide. They believe that the Patriot act helps ruin terror
plots and find terrorists. (NPR)
The people that don t support the patriot act believe that it violates the first amendment rights, the
right to protection against unlawful discrimination, the right to due process, and the right to
privacy. The right to privacy is the freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your
private affairs. The main reason that people don t support the patriot act is because of the
violation of the right to privacy from the government. (ACLU) They believe that the patriot act
could lead to privacy violations of anyone who comes into any form of contact with a terror
suspect. Also, people that don t support the act believe that unrestricted sharing of information
between intelligence agencies leads to the development of massive databases of citizens that are
not suspects of terror. They also don t like how the government can use sneak and peek search
warrants for minor crimes and not just terrorism. (NPR) They are also worried that the material
support part of the act could lead to guilt by association with terror suspects. They also don t like

The Crucible Reverend Hale Essay
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, witchcraft is arising in Salem, Massachusetts and Reverend John
Hale is the one at fault. Reverend Hale is a spiritual doctor who was chosen to come to salem to
investigate what was going on. Numerous people were being accused of their involvement in
witchcraft and were put to trial. Some town people confessed but some had nothing to confess,
leading them to be hung or stoned to death. There are many justifications why the events in Salem
occurred and the author brings them to the reader s attention, more than once. He shows them
through many flaws. Reverend Hale is foolish, headstrong, and his self righteousness make him the
one at blame for the Salem witch trials.
Reverend hale s strong willed personality suddenly backfired, making him not trustworthy to the
the court members and people of Salem. Hale contemplated a lot and spent more time on his
studies. He stated that, the people he had named as witches, were not witches. Because he
changed his mind so often, and went back on his word, the jury cannot trust him which made
anything he said pointless. He quits the court when he says I denounce these proceedings I quit
this court. (Miller). Since Hale was so hard headed, it took him awhile to realize the extent of the
witch trials was extreme and that it was not active in the town of salem. It was a mixture of
extreme ignorance, pure cruelty to banish the unwanted people of the town. As Elizabeth was
signing john s death warrant, Hale was watching. Excellency it is a natural lie to tell, I beg you,

Planning Process Group Essay
Assignment 1
1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why?
Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it
performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and
schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding
the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those
problems.
2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart?
Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the
reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart.
3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing
process group skewed to the right?
Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that
everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the
execution process group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process
group, the execution process group is tilted towards the right. Nonetheless, the most elevated
measure of cash and time of all the process groups is taken by execution process group.
4. Did you see that the executing process group is larger and higher than the planning process
group? Why?

Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover
Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover
The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the nursing
workforce has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and nurse turnover (Gates
Jones, 2007). The paper below discusses the issues of nursing shortage and nurse turnover. The
paper also describes how leaders as well as managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can
resolve those problems effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader,
and theories of leadership and management.
There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and turnover.
Apparently the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of nurses that are getting
older without adequate replacement, there are fewer than expected faculties dedicated to nursing,
there are more career fields opening up particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead
of nursing, federal government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally
unpleasant working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an overstretched
hence overworked nursing staff. According to Paller (2012), the nursing shortage in different
countries for example the United States tends not to be the only growing problem, but has also
become a complex one. Nursing shortage and nurse s turnover has become the worsening
predicament in the health care industry in the United

Informative Essay On Polio
Hi, my name is Destani and I will be reporting live from New York City. I am reporting about a new
disease called polio that is spreading rapidly. According to other states New York is the first state
with a large epidemic of polio.
In 1894, there was an outbreak of polio in Vermont. In New York there were over 9,000 cases of
people with polio. 2,343 of the 9,000 cases of polio people died from this disease and 1,000
children were left paralyzed. People are terrified of this disease and this disease has no label on it.

Children who didn t live in New York was not allowed to enter the town for their own health and
safety. Animals were killed because people were afraid animals would spread the disease.
Thousands of animals were killed a day. 80,000 pets were killed for humans health and safety.
Everyone is asking questions about this disease. Where did it come from? Why does it mostly
affect children? How is it spread? How do we get rid if it? All of these questions have no answer,
but we are trying to figure out why. This is your reporter Destani and I hope everyone stays
healthy and disease free.
In 1916, over 27,000 cases of polio were reported nationwide. In 1952, 57,628 cases of polio were
reported in the United States. Polio mostly affected children, but it did affect adults and teens.
Polio is very contagious and can be spread by nasal and oral contact. Also, can be spread by
contact with contaminated feces. Polio had epidemics every few years. Most people who had polio
recovered, but others suffered temporary or permanent paralysis and sometimes death. In the United

A Research Study On Varicella

VARICELLA
Hernan Ramirez
Health Science Technology
3/4/2016
Varicella Varicella is a virus that is caused by Varicella Zoster Virus ( VZV ) or also known as
chickenpox. Back in 1875, Steiner proved that the virus can only spread through body fluids from
other people who have the Varicella. People often did not know the difference between chickenpox
and smallpox until the late 90 s. Every year there are about 3.5 million cases of varicella, 9,000
hospitalization, and estimated about 100 150 deaths. In order to prevent that from happening you
may want to get the vaccine that saves about 100 deaths from happening.
Pathophysiology
Varicella Zoster Virusis a DNA virus and has almost the exact same genes of herpesvirus group
(www.cdc.gov). Which also makes the Varicella be part of the same family and strand of DNA
of VZV. Whenever you get the virus inside your system it will last about 5 10 days if it is not
sever. The symptoms before you know you might have chicken pox are high fever, headache,
tiredness loss of appetite. Other symptoms that are going to show on the skin of the patient are
rashes all over the body, blisters all over your body that have liquid inside them eventually turning
them into scabs. The rash usually shows on the face and chest later on spreading all over the body.
About in a week all blisters should have already been turned to scabs. Some rare complications

Call Money Market in India
A Financial Market can be defined as the market in which financial assets are created or
transferred. As against a real transaction that involves exchange of money for real goods or
services, a financial transaction involves creation or transfer of a financial asset. Financial Assets or
Financial Instruments represents a claim to the payment of a sum of money sometime in the future
and /or periodic payment in the form of interest or dividend.
The primary function of a financial market is to facilitate the transfer of funds from surplus sectors

Some deposits are repayable instantly on demand. However, the banks cannot instantly take the
money back from their borrowers. Banks keep some cash ready for meeting any demand from their
depositors but sometimes, the demand could be higher than the cash in hand.
During the course of the day, after taking care of all their needs, some banks may have surplus
cash in hand and some may have a deficit. The bank having a deficit will borrow money overnight
or for any period extending up to 14 days from bank having a surplus. The borrowing bank has to
pay interest on the borrowed money. Thus call money usually serves the role of equilibrating the
short term liquidity position of banks.
The call money market crosses international lines, with funding opportunities located in a number
of countries around the world. Because of the inclusion of international banking institutions, the
role of the brokerage firm becomes vital to the individual investor. Brokers will be aware of
applicable banking laws, and how those laws could impact the transaction. This knowledge
regarding participants in the call money market allows the firm to pick and choose among possible
avenues for funding with a level of efficiency that would be difficult for the individual.
Call money is also required by banks to meet their CRR requirements. They borrow money from
other banks and non bank entities to cover any shortages of cash on a Reporting

My Aspiration At Work Worth Doing
My aspiration in life is to earn an honest living by providing health care to those in need of such
attention. With this career path, I believe that I will have both an exciting and rewarding
occupation. Helping those in need by promoting health and preventing disease I something that I
found interesting ever since I was little. For when I was younger, I was in the hospital quite
often for countless reasons, and knowing that I was going to be perfectly okay lead my
impressionable self to gaining the utmost respect for those in the health care business and
eventually leading me to pursue a career in the field. Ultimately, I feel that the profession will
allow for me to contribute to society and in doing so I remain confident that I will learn a great
deal from such as occupation as one in health care. For Theodore Roosevelt once said, Far and
away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing . With
this quote in mind, health care appeals to me and appears to be the true career field for me and is
my calling.
At the beginning of the semester, it was revealed to the Hicks Honors students our Strong Interest
Inventory and Myers Briggs Interpretative Report. From my Strong Interest Inventory, I learned that
my interests attribute to my occupation being in either health care services or medical science.
Additionally, under my Top Ten Strong Occupations, several professions in the health care were

The Effect Of Genetic Diversity On Living Things Are The...
The main cause of genetic diversity in living things are the five processes of evolution. These five
processes genetic drift, gene flow, natural selection, speciation, and mutations all affect allele
frequencies within a population in different ways, thus, creating genetic diversity. Population
change is in direct relation to both genetic drift and gene flow. Genetic drift is defined as variation
in the relative frequency of different genotypes in a small population. This variation is caused by
two types of genetic drift also known as the Bottleneck effect and the Founders effect. A Bottleneck
effect is typically caused by a random event such as hunting or a natural disaster which can
significantly reduce a population. Although a population can gain back their original population
size after a Bottleneck effect, their genes have been permanently affected, resulting in much less
genetic variation than that of a population that was not affected by a Bottleneck effect. Examples of
genetic diversity due to a Bottleneck effect include the lack of genetic variation due to intense
hunting in the 1890 s within the Northern elephant seal population compared to the large Southern
elephant seal population. A Founders effect occurs when individuals from a large population
branch out and create a new colony. Due to the small population, the colony is more likely to have
less genetic variation from the original population. An example of a Founders effect is the presence

What Is The Striders Poem
Whereas for Ramanujan the animal is not mere a symbol caged in human world rather it is a
messenger of spirituality and thus of ultimate freedom. In his most celebrated and discussed poem
The Striders Ramanujan forcefully puts forward the inevitability and indispensability of animals
and insects in our life when he deploys a water bug as the metaphor to represent his poetic ideas:
Thin stemmed, bubble eyed water bugs
See them perch on the dry capillary legs
Weightless on the ripple skin of a stream (The Striders, p. 03. At Poli Ready, 69)
Here, the water bug is striding the flowing stream with its thin legs in the running water maintaining
the balance. Spiritual connotations of this instance of the bug maintaining the balance on running
water tell of its harmony with nature and adaptability to life better than that of humans. Such
poems, wherein Ramanujan celebrates his past mingled with animal world, speak of poet s self
reflexivity and craving for some lost values.
Nevertheless, the new age typical post colonial writers like Adiga do not show ... Show more

In general females are held to different sexual standards than men. When females hook up or

This age range is where trial and error relationship lessons are learned. I chose the topic of

impact of the lack of parental supervision when students go off to college can create both positive

Media Representation In America
In my artistic work, I decided to pursue and address an issue that stands out to me because of its
lack of media representation in America during an era where media is more obtainable than
ever. The Israeli Palestinian conflict is rarely reported in mainstream media in the United States.
Instead, topics such as celebrity gossip dominate headlines and it s tragic to me; the Kardashians
are mentioned more in the news than West Bank or Gaza combined. The people in Palestine have
no voice in America and yet America is the perpetrator of their injustice. How can we, as
Americans, face our own mistakes if we aren t even aware that we re making them? We boast that

People rely on their news sources as their gateway to the rest of the world and when these
gateways are compromised by the government, the people of those countries lose their ability to
fight injustice. In my illustration, the two individuals are blindfolded to demonstrate the national
blindness in present day America. Our cluelessness of what happens beyond our country is a
direct result of our government s choke hold on the press; America is known as a country of
freedom and yet we are often isolated from the knowledge we deserve to know illustrated by the
use of the umbrella above the table. The pillar connecting the barbed wire fence surrounding Gaza
has the American colors because the United States government has an incriminating role in what
has been happening in Palestine, but it is so far removed beyond the picturesque Hollywood
Hills that not many people know about it. Within the barricaded fence, a bomb is titled the truth
, because the truth of the Israeli Palestinian conflict is that devastation has been tearing Gaza
apart. The bomb is colossal in proportion to its own fencing to exemplify how large that
devastation is. I hope that upon my audience seeing my art, they will grow intrigued and actively
seek out the truth about the government s role in the Middle East. Inspirations for my piece
come from a recent flux of political cartoons in response to Trump s election. I was amazed at
how cartoons, which can be so incredibly simple, can convey such intense and important messages
to its audience by the uses of symbolism, irony, and exaggeration. To sum up, this art piece asks
for Americans to dare and pull off the blindfold. It dares people to question what is written in the
media, and whether or not what is written truly matters in the grand scheme of world events.

Major Benefits Of Estate Planning Essay
Critical Element III. A Estate planning enables individuals and business owners to plan for the
future in cases when unforeseeable events occur. If an unforeseeable demise does occur, the
business will continue to thrive and business assets will be protected from creditor and government
seizure. A few of the more prominent benefits of estate planning include the following: succession
planning, future planning, and minimizing taxliability. All three benefits significantly correlate with
one another since deciding business successors lead to anticipated future success and figuring out
what to do with future assets in the present helps minimize future tax liability. By creating trusts,
business owners can still appreciate assets without the need to pay heavy taxes on the additional
value. However, it is crucial to understand that estate planning differs among business entities in
terms of minimizing tax liability (Agu 2016). A principle difference between the two business
entities is how the business owners are impacted by the tax liability. C Corporations are classified
as being a separate taxable entity while partnerships are flow through entities. As a separate taxable
entity, C corporationbusiness owners are not responsible for paying taxes regarding to the business,
but they are taxed on the shareholder dividends; a concept otherwise known as double taxation. On
the other hand, partnerships handle taxes a little differently. The resulting operating income is

Summary Of Pico Iyer s Where World Collide
Imagine believing a fantasy only to be faced with a harsh reality. In Pico Iyer s Essay, Where
World Collide, Iyer depicts multiple bustling scenes he witnesses at the Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX). Through his interactions, his observations of travelers at the airport, and his own
perceptions based on his viewpoint as an immigrant traveling to a land often fantasized about, Iyer
makes several assertions about Los Angeles. Through diction, juxtapositions, humor, and anecdotes
in his essay, Iyer demonstrates that Los Angeles is not some wonderful fantasy that many believe it
to be; but that it is instead representative of the cultural melting pot that is the world. Iyer begins
the piece on a rather vague note. He introduces the essay in third person referring to they .
Although this they is not revealed until further paragraphs, through his descriptions of places and
concepts related to Los Angeles, such as the Dodgers, Disneyland, or airport shuttles, the reader
soon can conclude that this they are travelers and they are at no other than LAX. Through his use
of third person Iyer helps to show multiple perspectives of how coming to Los Angeles may be. In
each of these perspectives he highlights the enthusiasm of these travelers thus helping to strengthen
his assertion that to many newcomers, Los Angeles is often a fantasy. He also introduces the
concept of Los Angeles being like a dream to immigrants and tourists through his use of diction

Plato s Apology And The Apology
In this paper I will discuss how Plato s Apology and Phaedo have difference ideas of what it
means to be a philosopher. I will explain how in the Apology, the philosopher is wise in how he/she
understand that they are wise because they know that they don t know, and in Phadeo the
philosopher knowledgable and are concern in gaining more knowledge.
In Plato s Apology we learn about Socrates life and who he really is. In platos Apology a
philosopher is a wise person because he understands that being wise is understanding that they
know they don t know. Is something difficult to understand but I will break it down as simple as I
can. Socrates was a citizen that knew that he did not know and also knew that everyone else also

Someone that would call themselves wise, Socrates would question him or her until they did not
had an answer to Socrates questions, and that would demonstrate that in reality those people
where not wise as they would call themselves, even though himself would not had an answer
either. Although, Socrates did not claimed to have knowledge of what he did not know and not
claimed to have wisdom when he believed he did not, Socrates understood that those who
claimed to have knowledge did not really know about what they claimed to know as well as
wisdom and thats what made Socrates more wise. Therefore, In the Apology Socrates was wise
because he believed that he was not wise.
In the Apology the Oracle believed that there was no other person wiser that Socrates because
Socrates believed that he was not wise. It its crazy to believe that a person is wise because that
person believes he or she is not wise but if you put some thought into it it makes total sense. How
can someone in this earth call themselves wise when in reality they do not have every answer.
Socrates in the Apology would totally agree that it is wiser for someone to believe that being wise
is to not call themselves wise but to know that they don t know and that is because thats what
Socrates did throughout his life in the Apology until his sentenced.
In the other hand in Plato s Phaedo the philosopher

Driving Through Sawmill Towns poem analysis Essay
Driving Through Sawmill Towns by Les Murray
In the high cool country, having come from the clouds, down a tilting road Into a distant valley,
You drive without haste. Your windscreen parts the forest,
Swaying and glancing, and jammed midday brilliance
Crouches in clearings...
Then you come across them,
The sawmill towns, bare hamlets built of boards
With perhaps a store,
Perhaps a bridge beyond
And a little sidelong creek alive with pebbles.

This first stanza from the poem, explains the journey of a man driving through a sawmill town and
his observations. Murray describes his journey through a small sawmill town in New South Wales
whilst using strong, vivid imagery and emotive language.
As evident by the title of this poem, imagery is a strong technique used in this poem as the author
describes with great detail his journey through a sawmill town. This technique is used most in the
following phrases: ...down a tilting road, into a distant valley. And The sawmill towns, bare
hamlets built of boards with perhaps a store . This has the effect of creating an image in the reader
s mind and making the poem even more real.
There is also figurative language used in phrases such as Having come from the clouds and tilting
road . This adds to the effect of imagery and emphasis on the journey to the sawmill town. It also
helps to make the stanza more interesting to the reader.

Biff s Dream
What the mind conceives and believes it aims to achieve.
A father s misconceptions can negatively impact his children. In Death of a salesman , Arthur
Miller demonstrates how Willy s perception of success has created a situation of conflict between
him and his sons, especially Biff. As a result, the father son relationship becomes dysfunctional. For
Willy, successcan be achieved through recognition and popularity. He projects his perception of
success on his sons with high hopes that they will achieve it. Ben, Willy s brother in his mind
embodies the image of success and road not taken (Centola). Biff had the most tension with his

Stereotypes In Sticks And Stones
Throughout Sticks and Stones, Bazelon presents the readers with evidence to break through
bullying stereotypes. In order to clarify the situations that occur with bullying, Bazelon chooses
to provide the readers with facts to determine what stereotypes are true and which ones are
deceiving. In Sticks and Stones, we see how Aaron bullied Jacob, because Jacob was gay.
However, bullies target others for different reasons, but kids like Aaron are the ones who are
called bully victims in the psych literature...sometimes they lash out because they re frustrated
over how they re being treated (Bazelon 71). Bullies are always viewed as the bad or mean kids in
stereotypes, but what we do not always realize is that the bully could be suffering in some way too.

It could also be a cry for help or attention. In Monique s chapter, Bazelon explains that kids who
bully, by contrast, have more varied profiles. This is one reason why bullying is such a stubborn
problem for schools: the perpetrators aren t a monolithic group (Bazelon 30). Through this
information, Bazelon demonstrates how so many of these stereotypes are deceiving, and we
need to think more about the other factors that come to play with these stereotypes. When it
comes to bullies, most people tend to think it is always the popular kids or the school s mean
girls , however the bullies may not always be those kids. As Monique shared in her story, even
her friends turned on her and began to join in on the tormenting against her. This clarifies that a
bully is not always the popular kids, yet sometimes it can be. There are several different types of
bullies and they all lash out at others for different reasons. Since Bazelon expressed these facts in
her book, it resulted in the readers taking a new approach to how they might normally classify or

Sound Waves Affecting The Brain s Perception Of Sound
The normal range that humans are able to hear from is 20 hz to 20kHz. The average human can

between 19hz and 20hz. I could sometimes hear the 20hz but sometimes I could not. I am about
average for the highest frequencyI could hear. Soundis made of pressure waves which when they
travel oscillate or vibrate. Each wave travels at a certain frequency based on how much the sound
moves. Sound is created when air molecules are pushed in a certain direction causing them to

Based on the second resource in Physics, I could not district between frequencies as well as I
should. My issue was could tell there was a difference in pitch I just could not tell if it was higher
or lower once they got super similar to one another. The biology behind it is that once a pitch has
traveled through the ear and the cochlea has transferred it to the brain, the arcuate fasciculus
produces the process of distinguishing which pitch is higher or lower than another. Some people
can do this better than others based on the way their brain works. But it is all pitch recognition in
your brain. Tiny sound waves inside your ear help you tune the pitch and pick up sound waves.
They take the sound waves and turn them into nerve signals causing the brain to interpret sound.
The enter form the outer ear and travel through the passage of the ear canal. It then reaches the
eardrum where the vibrations translate into the sound we hear. It then goes to the cochlea, a snail
shaped structure that contains fluid in the ear. The sound causes the liquid inside to ripple. The
wave goes across to the basilar

The Entrepreneur: A definition
Gartner (1990), while reviewing the theories of entrepreneurship notes that it is a complex concept
with not even an agreed definition of its scope. Although attempts have been made as early as the
eighteenth century to identify the role of the entrepreneur, opinions are still as diverse as they were.
On one hand there are stereotypical characteristics of entrepreneurs like they are born leaders,
optimists, charismatic, extremely self confident and they inspire people. On the other hand, anyone
who works for himself or owns a business calls himself an entrepreneur. There have also been
several debates to differentiate entrepreneurs from small business owners and managers

This internal pressure that is placed upon the Courts is highlighted within the Bureaucratic
Model, which gives the impression that the employees of the Criminal justice do not have a

mentioned above, efficiency is the key factor affecting the effective functioning of the courts, the
employees of the Criminal Justice do not have the most impactful contribution to improve upon
their own efficiency, but the defendants do, because their decisions on accepting guilt or
maintaining their innocence can mean the difference between an appropriately shortened trial or
more worryingly, a prolonged trial resulting in a guilty verdict, in which this consumes excessive
time and resources that could have otherwise been used elsewhere(Davies et al., 2005) . From
the above perspective, it is safe to say that the defendants have the ability to ease some of the
pressure that is put on the Courts Service, in order to allow them to perform productively.

Cat Breeds And The Sphynx
Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you
don t know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr.
Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat,
although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These
cats also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and
soft to the touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers.
Because they do not have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate,
often snuggling up to other animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make
room under the covers at night, as it will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat
means no shedding and no need for brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving
care and maintenance. Body oils tend to accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in
their coats. This means that the Sphynx requires regular bathing. These cats also should have
limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also
should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of their lack of a coat for protection. In short,
the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. A common fallacy about the Sphynx is that is hypoallergenic
because of its lack of a coat. It is important to

In addition to that, one of the most important side effects is that working children may
experience physical harm in a number of ways. These include an increased risk of accidents;
children and young people often work in unregulated environments where little attention is paid
to safety. Working children often experience violence in the workplace from adult staff and
managers. Children and young people working in the street are also at risk of physical violence
from police officers and other authority figures. Risk of illness from poor hygiene and exposure to
bad weather can also be witnessed. Therefore, child labor involves the following characteristics: it
violates a nation s minimum age laws, involves intolerable abuse, such as child slavery, child
trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, or illicit activities, prevents children from going to school,
and uses children to undermine labor standards (December, 2007). Child labor can also be
developmentally, emotionally, and physically abusive. Child workers are more vulnerable than
adult workers, leaving them at risk for exploitation, dangerous and abusive conditions. In many
parts of the world, it too often involves confinement, bondage, and forced labor; it frequently
involves dangerous and unhealthy working conditions. Children work longer hours have lower
pays than adults. Some children are sold into labor

  • 2. Lab Report On Kinetics Of Alcohol Oxidation Lab Instructor s Name: Zhen Qiao Student s Name: Nhu Duong Section # CHEM 102 110 Experiment #6 Date of the experiment: 01/29/2016 Title: KINETICS OF ALCOHOL OXIDATION Drexel University Winter 2016 Introduction: This report concerns the experiment of determining the order of reaction and the kinetic rate constant of alcohol oxidation. This experiment relates to the knowledge of chemical kinetics, the application of Beer s Law, and other calculations. Chemical kinetics involves the examination of reaction rates, which are the speeds of chemical reactions. There are chemical reactions which proceed in long periods of time as well as chemical reactions proceeding in short periods of time. Regarding reaction rates, the reaction order and kinetic rate constant are considered. Take a general reaction in solution for instance: aA+bBв‡ЊProduct(s) The reaction rate is calculated using the following function: rate=kгЂ–[A]гЂ—^x гЂ–[B]гЂ—^y Where [A] and [B] are the concentrations of A and B in the solution, unit: mol/L or M; x and y is the reaction order of A and B respectively; k is the kinetic rate constant, its unit depends on the order of the reaction. The values of x and y are the partial order corresponding to A and B. The sum of x and y is the overall reaction order. The values of x and y can be either negative or positive. They can also be either integer or fractional. The reaction rate can be understood as how fast the reactants are consumed or how fast the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electronic Communication and Society Electronic Communication and Society In today s world, it is very difficult to go anywhere without seeing the impact that technology has had on societies everywhere. From homes to schools to the workplace, the impact of technology has been tremendous. Everything from appliances to machines, from phones to cars, everything has become and still is becoming more modernized in ways people would never have imagined ten years ago. The same can be said for computers and communicationtechnology. Currently, it is very rare to find someone that does not have a cellular phone or a computer. Family and friends who live at a distance are now in touch with one another much more frequently and easily (Riney). Not only is e mail important for communication at home, it is also used in school. Currently colleges set up e mail accounts for every one of their students as well as faculty. Important messages about events or class scheduling are often sent by e mail rather than paper mail. This makes it much easier because the university does not have to print copies and then have someone to address them and send them out. They can send it to every one with just a few button clicks. Students also use this e mail as their personal e mail address. They give it out to friends and family and receive everything through this account. They may also use it to communicate with classmates about assignments or to contact an instructor. It has made it much easier to ask a professor a question because you don t have to worry about catching them in the office. It also makes it easier on the teacher because they don t have to stay in their offices quite so much, but as a result they have more work to do when they are at home. If we didn t have electronic communications, I think I could leave work at the office more easily. Of course, I would have to stay at the office more to get things done too (Lindsey). Is this source withholding the truth and ameliorating a topic? If I know that the information being reported is false, how can I trust that any other information from this source can be trusted? These are several questions that a particular citizen might make on a day to day basis, and when the question of bias is thrown into the mix, an overwhelming feeling of mistrust in our media can ensue. Media sources today are siding more and more towards their viewers political views, and this creates a form of media bias that can spread untrustworthy information out into the public. A Gallup poll from the somewhat recent year of late 2016 has shown that Americans trust in mass media has fallen to a record setting low. For the general population, only 32 percent of Americans trusted the media outlets reports with a great deal of trust or a fair amount of trust . A deeper look into the polling shows that only 14 percent of population who classify as Republican trust the media a great deal or a fair amount. This could be due to the bias against Republicans in certain media sources, or it could fall into something deeper. As for age groups, ages 18 49 have shown 26 percent in the same trust rating, while 50 and older shows 38 percent. The difference in percentages due to age are most likely due to the technological fluency of younger generations. • 6. The Crucible Reverend Hale Essay In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, witchcraft is arising in Salem, Massachusetts and Reverend John Hale is the one at fault. Reverend Hale is a spiritual doctor who was chosen to come to salem to investigate what was going on. Numerous people were being accused of their involvement in witchcraft and were put to trial. Some town people confessed but some had nothing to confess, leading them to be hung or stoned to death. There are many justifications why the events in Salem occurred and the author brings them to the reader s attention, more than once. He shows them through many flaws. Reverend Hale is foolish, headstrong, and his self righteousness make him the one at blame for the Salem witch trials. Reverend hale s strong willed personality suddenly backfired, making him not trustworthy to the the court members and people of Salem. Hale contemplated a lot and spent more time on his studies. He stated that, the people he had named as witches, were not witches. Because he changed his mind so often, and went back on his word, the jury cannot trust him which made anything he said pointless. He quits the court when he says I denounce these proceedings I quit this court. (Miller). Since Hale was so hard headed, it took him awhile to realize the extent of the witch trials was extreme and that it was not active in the town of salem. It was a mixture of extreme ignorance, pure cruelty to banish the unwanted people of the town. As Elizabeth was signing john s death warrant, Hale was watching. Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems. 2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart? Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart. 3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing process group skewed to the right? Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process group. Nursing Shortage and Nurse Turnover Nursing shortage and Nurse Turnover The ongoing instability evidenced from the high mobility of qualified nurses in the nursing workforce has raised many questions about the issue of nursing shortage and nurse turnover (Gates Jones, 2007). The paper below discusses the issues of nursing shortage and nurse turnover. The paper also describes how leaders as well as managers in the nursing fraternity and other leaders can resolve those problems effectively and the different applicable principles, skills, roles of the leader, and theories of leadership and management. There are various factors that are contributing to the current nursing shortage and turnover. Apparently the major contributing factors in the USA are a population of nurses that are getting older without adequate replacement, there are fewer than expected faculties dedicated to nursing, there are more career fields opening up particularly for women hence the alternative choices instead of nursing, federal government s failure to fund the nursing education across the country, generally unpleasant working conditions and terms, poor retention of the nurses as well as an overstretched hence overworked nursing staff. According to Paller (2012), the nursing shortage in different countries for example the United States tends not to be the only growing problem, but has also become a complex one. • 16. The Effect Of Genetic Diversity On Living Things Are The... The main cause of genetic diversity in living things are the five processes of evolution. These five processes genetic drift, gene flow, natural selection, speciation, and mutations all affect allele frequencies within a population in different ways, thus, creating genetic diversity. Population change is in direct relation to both genetic drift and gene flow. Genetic drift is defined as variation in the relative frequency of different genotypes in a small population. This variation is caused by two types of genetic drift also known as the Bottleneck effect and the Founders effect. A Bottleneck effect is typically caused by a random event such as hunting or a natural disaster which can significantly reduce a population. Although a population can gain back their original population size after a Bottleneck effect, their genes have been permanently affected, resulting in much less genetic variation than that of a population that was not affected by a Bottleneck effect. Examples of genetic diversity due to a Bottleneck effect include the lack of genetic variation due to intense hunting in the 1890 s within the Northern elephant seal population compared to the large Southern elephant seal population. A Founders effect occurs when individuals from a large population branch out and create a new colony. Due to the small population, the colony is more likely to have less genetic variation from the original population. An example of a Founders effect is the presence of Polydactyly ... In his most celebrated and discussed poem The Striders Ramanujan forcefully puts forward the inevitability and indispensability of animals and insects in our life when he deploys a water bug as the metaphor to represent his poetic ideas: Thin stemmed, bubble eyed water bugs See them perch on the dry capillary legs Weightless on the ripple skin of a stream (The Striders, p. 03. At Poli Ready, 69) Here, the water bug is striding the flowing stream with its thin legs in the running water maintaining the balance. Spiritual connotations of this instance of the bug maintaining the balance on running water tell of its harmony with nature and adaptability to life better than that of humans. People rely on their news sources as their gateway to the rest of the world and when these gateways are compromised by the government, the people of those countries lose their ability to fight injustice. In my illustration, the two individuals are blindfolded to demonstrate the national blindness in present day America. Our cluelessness of what happens beyond our country is a direct result of our government s choke hold on the press; America is known as a country of freedom and yet we are often isolated from the knowledge we deserve to know illustrated by the use of the umbrella above the table. The pillar connecting the barbed wire fence surrounding Gaza has the American colors because the United States government has an incriminating role in what has been happening in Palestine, but it is so far removed beyond the picturesque Hollywood Hills that not many people know about it. Within the barricaded fence, a bomb is titled the truth , because the truth of the Israeli Palestinian conflict is that devastation has been tearing Gaza apart. The bomb is colossal in proportion to its own fencing to exemplify how large that devastation is. If an unforeseeable demise does occur, the business will continue to thrive and business assets will be protected from creditor and government seizure. A few of the more prominent benefits of estate planning include the following: succession planning, future planning, and minimizing taxliability. All three benefits significantly correlate with one another since deciding business successors lead to anticipated future success and figuring out what to do with future assets in the present helps minimize future tax liability. By creating trusts, business owners can still appreciate assets without the need to pay heavy taxes on the additional value. However, it is crucial to understand that estate planning differs among business entities in terms of minimizing tax liability (Agu 2016). A principle difference between the two business entities is how the business owners are impacted by the tax liability. Although this they is not revealed until further paragraphs, through his descriptions of places and concepts related to Los Angeles, such as the Dodgers, Disneyland, or airport shuttles, the reader soon can conclude that this they are travelers and they are at no other than LAX. In order to clarify the situations that occur with bullying, Bazelon chooses to provide the readers with facts to determine what stereotypes are true and which ones are deceiving. In Sticks and Stones, we see how Aaron bullied Jacob, because Jacob was gay. However, bullies target others for different reasons, but kids like Aaron are the ones who are called bully victims in the psych literature...sometimes they lash out because they re frustrated over how they re being treated (Bazelon 71). This is one reason why bullying is such a stubborn problem for schools: the perpetrators aren t a monolithic group (Bazelon 30). Through this information, Bazelon demonstrates how so many of these stereotypes are deceiving, and we need to think more about the other factors that come to play with these stereotypes. When it comes to bullies, most people tend to think it is always the popular kids or the school s mean girls , however the bullies may not always be those kids. As Monique shared in her story, even her friends turned on her and began to join in on the tormenting against her. This clarifies that a bully is not always the popular kids, yet sometimes it can be. There are several different types of bullies and they all lash out at others for different reasons. Some people can do this better than others based on the way their brain works. But it is all pitch recognition in your brain. Tiny sound waves inside your ear help you tune the pitch and pick up sound waves. They take the sound waves and turn them into nerve signals causing the brain to interpret sound. This means that the Sphynx requires regular bathing. These cats also should have limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop a sunburn similar to that of a human.
