- 2. I wish to call my magazine Rockstar. The reason for this is because I feel like it suits the target audience as the word “Rockstar” connotes a glamorous lifestyle and that is appealing to most teenage girls, which is the audience I want to attract. As well as this I wanted the genre to be obvious so I thought having the word “Rock” inside of the title would be fitting and would portray my intentions.
- 3. The reason I chose rock was because I did not know much about this genre, therefore I thought by taking the opportunity to do rock would learn something new.
- 4. The target audience for my magazine is meant to appeal to teenage girls between the ages 14-17. The reason for this is because I feel like this category of people are most likely to want to read a magazine. I also think this group of people are the most impressionable which means it is easier to find stuff to write about which suits the genre.
- 5. I intend to make sure the front page of my magazine follows the conventions of a real magazine which ensures that there is some professionalism. A picture of somebody pretty who has a unique/ punkish/ rockish fashion sense will be required. This is because I think somebody who looks like this is appealing to the eye of the female audience as they will want to look like the model meaning that they will want to look like her. As well as this when you initially look at the front page the mise-en-scene of the picture could scream the genre rock because of the fashion and make up which is what I want to happen. I also want the background of the front cover should be a stereotypical girly colour which encourages and attracts girls to want to buy the magazine. I would like it to gradient from purple to white and to have the masthead and coverlines to match the similar colour schemes.
- 6. The contents page needs to follow the colour scheme of the rest of the magazine, which will more than likely be the gradient look and using the colours that appear between the purple and white. I would like unique pictures on the contents page, ideas for pictures are of me as part of the editorial, pictures of the models doing random things like singing or playing an instrument as this will help the magazine to look busy which rock magazines conventionally are. I really want to refrain from having too many posed pictures as it does not create this busy atmosphere.
- 7. The double page spread needs to look really busy and needs to stand out using the fonts/ colours and pictures. I know that I want to write an article rather than write an interview, this is because I have the potential to be creative and write something fun.
- 8. I need to take different types of photos so that I can choose where I want them to go on my magazine. The ideas I have at the moment include a few posed photos where I could say that it is a backstage exclusive at that particular “celebrities” photo shoot. I’m thinking about taking these photos the drama studio using the lighting to make it look more professional. The other pictures I want to take is of people looking active doing something music orientated whether it is them singing with a mic in their hand or playing an electric guitar just to reinforce the mise-en-scene to prove the rock genre.
