1. Task 7
Interview with Adam Who?
Congrats on the new album ‘The Abyss’. Are you happy with how it’s turned
out?
Absolutely, I loved working on this album, everyday it was filled with
excitement. We had no idea how it was going to turn out until it was
actually finished. And now that it is I can just stand back and safely say,
year well spent. *laughs*
When you write stuff like this what goes through your mind?
I don’t actually know, millions of things really, I’m constantly thinking of
the next step and what comes next and what will go well where. Thinking
about it, I don’t know how my mind didn’t just fry.
What’s the message of ‘The Abyss’?
The message is simple, turn it up and rave all day long until you drop.
The name Adam Who?where did the name come from?
Well as a kid, whenever someone asked me my name, I would say Adam
Wigglesworth, and as it is a strange last name they would always ask, Adam
Who? So it kinda stuck from there really.
There’s a song called Jump@Dawn on the album which is a collaboration
with P.Dogg, how was it working on it with him?
Oh making that song was so much fun, to begin with it was just me a P
messing around in the apartment with some new beats we came up with,
and then one day he turned round to me and said “hey Cuz, these are some
pretty sweat beats. Why don’t we see if we can make it into something?”.
And so for a couple of months we worked and perfected this sound and
now it has to be my favorite song on the album.
Did he help you with work on the rest of the album?
Yeah, because he’s my cousin and we live together he didn’t really have a
choice but listen to me making it *laugh*. He would give me some feedback
while I was coming up with the new tunes, he was a great help.
Do you hope to do any collaborations with anyone else?
Well funny you should say that, I’ve been talking to the boys of LMFAO and
they said that we should get together sometime and mix some beats. But
other from that I would love to do some stuff with Sub Focus.
2. So what are your plans for the future?
I haven’t really thought about it *laughs*. I’ve been so up in the hype of the
album’s release that I haven’t had time. But I guess that I’ll keep doing what
I’m good at, and hopefully start work on a second album.
Got any gigs lined up?
Yeah I’ve got one at the HMV institute Monday next week and one at the
rainbow complex on the 8th of October.
You have part owner ship over the club Re-vibe, what’s it like being a
professional DJ and a club manager?
Not as hard as you may think, because of sharing the club with P.Dogg I can
get some down time to work on my music whilst he manages the club and
vice versa.
Any plans to buy anymore clubs?
Well we were think of buying one in London, but that won’t be for some
time yet, got to plan these things properly y’know.
You kind of went off the rails as a kid, tell us about it?
Well basically I got caught up in the wrong crowed, I did many things that
I’m not best proud of, I got into so much trouble because of stupid
decisions, but I managed to drag myself away and came out on top, and
look where I am today.
If you don’t mind me asking, do you think your parent’s death changed
you?
Most definitely, I mean as a kid that would affect any child, but because I
never really got on with them and kinda resented them it really turned my
world upside down, and I regret that I never treated them the way I should
have, and because of that it made me think about my own life and how I
wanted to be so much better.
You say your love of dance music was influenced by your cousin?
Yeah, after the death of my parents I moved in with him, and being a DJ
himself it was inevitable for me to fall in love with it.
Do you have any bad Habits?
3. Unfortunately yes, I have an obsession with onesies, I could get into one
and not come out of it for days on end.
I’ve heard that sometimes you wear a onesie in the DJ booth?
Yeah, well they are so comfortable that it really puts me in my zone, and so
I can really raise the house.
