2. iMac – The iMac was
mainly used for the
editing side of our
opening sequence
however we used the
iMac to conduct things
like research, experiment
with sounds and music
Camera – The camera
was used to film our
opening sequence. I
found it very easy to
use. The camera had a
rule of thirds overlay on
the screen so we could
align shots to our needs,
this was very useful in
certain shots, for
example the shot of
Jason’s eyes.
Tripod – The tripod was used to stabilize shots
which we found very useful. Also the tripod
was very hand when using the 180⁰ shot. I
didn’t learn much when using the tripod
because I have used them many times before.
Task 6.1
4. Photoshop We used Photoshop to
experiment with effects
throughout our opening
sequence however the most
noticeable one was the one of
Jason’s Eye’s changing colours.
The four second clip of Jason
opening his eye’s with the red
effect was all made on
Photoshop.
On the left you can see me
experimenting with Jason’s eye
in Photoshop and the final
result in the bottom left.
I learnt how to edit video in
Photoshop, I found editing
certain things in Photoshop a
lot easier than using Final Cut
Pro as there were a lot more
options for tweaking little
things.
Task 6.2
5. Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro was the main software we
used to edit our final piece, we used it
about 90% of the editing. Final Cut Pro
was very easy to pick up however some
things I could not find for example how
to blur a certain part of the screen. I
used the internet to research how to do
this and many results came up with easy
tutorials and after seeing how to do it it
was very easy to do again.
When editing in Final Cut Pro we used the effects
table a lot. We used effects like screen blur, distortion,
echo audio effect and many more. The effects table
was very easy to use all you had to was drag and drop
on the specific clip you’d want to add the effect to.
Task 6.2
6. Here are all the programs and applications we have used.
We used google as our
search engine and
conducted a lot of
research off it. For
example how to use
Final Cut Pro and
Photoshop.
Garage Band was used to
experiment with sound
effects and creating music
for our preliminary task.
We used the alarm clock
sound effect from Garage
Band which made it into
our final cut.
YouTube is the platform
we uploaded our final
piece on. We also used
YouTube for to research
things like how to apply
liquid latex and how to
create a red eye effect.
Soundcloud was used
to look at soundtrack
and to get inspiration
for audio effects.
Mahara was used to
showcase my
evaluation and
research for my
opening sequence.
Prezi and Slideshare
were used for research
and for uploading work
on Mahara.
I researched things like
‘Applying fake blood’.
