What have you learnt
about technologies
from the process of
constructing this
product?
Canon Video Camera
• For recording our piece we used the Canon Video recorder
that we were supplied with. In terms with how we coped
when using it, it was fairly simple and easy to use. We simply
had to press the record button once we were ready for our
shot to be taken. One feature of this camera was that we were
able to look back over the shots we had taken to see whether
they looked okay or not.
Something that we discovered was that zooming in whilst
recording looked unprofessional and sometimes blurred.
Therefore in order to get a closer shot we moved the Tripod and
Camera closer.
Mac Desktop
• I had used a mac prior to this so I was able to locate myself
around its layout which may have been a lot harder if I hadn’t
used one before. However, one program that we used to edit
our final opening was final cut pro. This was something that I
hadn't used before and so I had to learn the basics during the
prelim task before moving onto the harder editing of the final
opening.
Sound recorder
• Another thing that we used in terms of technology was the
sound recorder. This was mainly used in our group to
emphasize sounds that may not have been clear when using
the video camera.
• This is something that is used a lot and we used it for the
sounds such as the knocking on the door, footsteps outside
and the door being opened.
This is where we inserted all of our clips
that we had taken and began going
through them all. For the ones that we
liked and wanted to use we added
them to favorites, making the green bar
appear.
After we had imported and
favorited our clips we began
to place them in the order
that we wanted them and
trimmed them down to the
length we wanted them to
be.
Once the clips had been put into
place and trimmed down we
began to add the other sounds
that we recorded on the sound
recorder and also the music and
ensured that it fitted with our
piece.
Another thing that we
had to do when it came
to editing and using
final cut pro was adding
effects to each of the
shots.
We had to do this in
order to change and try
out different lighting
effects as we wanted in
to be dark but for the
audience to still make
out what was
happening. The lighting
was so key as we
recorded during the day
and it was fairly sunny,
therefore we used effect
such as Low keyer to
ensure that the light
was darker to convey
the thriller genre.
Websites & Apps
This is the
programme
that we used
to create our
blog and
upload our
work to.
We uploaded
our final
piece to
YouTube so
that it was
public and
could be
assessed.
PowerPoint was
used to create
things such as
this and an easy
way to store
other work that
we needed
We used Pearl and
Dean to find out the
type of audience
that may be
interested in our
film
We used office
365 to email
each other
ideas about
filming and
other work
that was
needed for
our blog.
I used slide share so
that I could create
PowerPoint
presentations and
then use the them for
my blog.
