2. Which Musical Sub-Genre?
The magazine I will be producing will be part of the Rock and Roll
genre based in the 1950’s. I have chosen this genre because I, myself,
am a huge fan of this genre of music so I will be able to express my
love for this genre through the production of my magazine. This is
because I am the theoretically the audience for my own magazine so
I will be able to have a fantastic idea of what will attract fans of this
genre to my magazine.

3. Vintage Rock Magazine
Vintage Rock Magazine is a Rock and Roll magazine which focuses on
the past musical legends of this genre. In the particular one I am
looking at (Issue 14), the magazine is looking at the “Top 100 Rock’ n
’Roll Singles” of all time. This shows that the producers of this
magazine have had some experience with the genre before and have
a wide range of knowledge as to do something as the top 100 singles
ever. This is a risky topic as fans of the genre can become very touchy
when their favourite artists might not make it into the Top 10, for
example. So the producers need to make sure they know what they
are doing.

4. Anthem Publishing
Anthem Publishing is a British publishers based in Bath. It was founded by Jon
Bickley, Paul Pettengale and Simon Lewis in 2003. It’s publishing focuses are the
Music genre as well as Food and Travel. The first magazine published was on March
20th in 2003, called ‘MusicTech Magazine’. The audience for this magazine is
engineers, producers and musicians as the magazine features recording equipment
and articles related to music making. It also contains tutorials for recording
applications, so beginners are able to begin using the latest programs. Due to the
success of this magazine, in the summer of 2005 a website was launched and then
furtherer in 2006, the public were able to purchase an online subscription, which
allowed fans to receive the latest issue almost instantly.
