QUESTION FIVE:
 how did you attract/address your
             audience?
my target audience
 • 15-19 year olds
 • Male and female
 • Listen to indie-rock music, pop and alternative music
 • May watch the Q, MTV Rocks music channels, or any music channel who
     plays their musical taste
 • Consume other medias such as TV, music, another genre of magazines
(e.g. Fashion, photography etc.), radio etc.
 • May also consume other magazines with their specified genre such as
     NME, Q, Rolling Stone etc.
 • May be interested in fashion, photography and social networking
 • May spend their time downloading and looking for new music as they will
have a passion for music. Also, they with enjoy being sociable; hanging
     around with lots of people.
how have i addressed my
   target audience?
cover lines:
The cover lines I have used attract and address the target
audience as they feature some of the bands/artists the
target audience may listen too, such as Blur, Foster the
People, The Kooks etc. Also, the cover line ‘The 100
greatest indie-rock bands’ blatantly attracts the audience
of people who listen and enjoy indie-rock music, therefore
this is very appealing to them.
model:I have used on my magazine attracts my target
 The model
audience as she is an attractive woman in a popular indie-
rock band. She is dressed in an appropriate way and not to
sexualised, therefore she would help attract male and
female readers as there is no bias towards sexuality. Also,
as her pose is bold and extravagant so she clearly stands
out. Therefore, anyone who listens to the music genre
featured in my magazine with then identify her and
consume the magazine as she is of their musical interest.
content:
The content of my magazine attracts my target audience as
it features the bands who fit in the with genre of indie-rock
music. Thus, attracting fans of indie-rock music just with
the content of the magazine. The magazine also features a
double page spread interview with a new, upcoming artist,
this attracting those who are interested in finding new
 music and artists.
colour scheme:
The colour scheme I have used helps address the target
audience as the colours aren’t identifiable with a specific
gender, the colours red, black and white are generic
colours and would attract anyone as the red is bold and
would clearly stand out on the shelves.
puff/plug:
The puff/plug I have used in my magazine, ‘50 bands to
look out for in 2012’, would attract my target audience as
this feature will include bands they listen too and as my
target audience is those who have a passion for music, they
would want to be in the know for which bands are going to
big this year, or who will make it big.
doublepage spreadspread: my target
 My double
           page feature will address
audience as it has an open interview with a new, rising star
in the indie-rock scene. Thus, teenagers who are interested
in the genre will identify with this feature as they may want
to ‘get to know’ the new artist. Also, this feature enables
readers to download a new track from the featured artist.
This would attract the target audience because they will be
young and may have a low income so gaining free music
 would appeal to them.
