What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
• A institution is a company that
disperses a media product for
audience consumption.
What is a institution?
IPC media would be an option to distribute my music
magazine. I think its because is a popular media institution
and distributes music. Ipc was formed in 1963,following the
merger of the UK’s leading magazines; George Newness,
Ohams Press and Fleetway Publicatin. Since then the Ipc
have published many magazines:
Women's weekly magazine
Sport/leisure
Fashion/gossip
Lifestyle/home
The IPC (international publishing corporation)
• IPC media produces over 60 iconic media brands.
• UK women and 42% of UK men, almost 26 million UK adults while our
website collectively reach over 20 million users every month.
• However the Ipc usually publishes rock/indie magazines as they have
lot of experience working the specific genre of music as they have
published ‘NME’ for many years. However they wanted to have more
experience with other genres. The new genre of music to create a
new ‘top of the opps’. The dance and pop genre have a very big fan
base and audience therefore they should make a lot of profit of the
magazines.
• However the IPC is such a big and well known company, there
should be more advertisement options as it should be both
easier and cheaper to advertised with help from such a big
media institution.
• An option of the type of institutions to distribute my magazines
: newsagents, WHSmith, Tesco, exc…This variation enables me
to meet all my audience as as most people who want a
magazine still goes straight to the shops.
• Due to more of a variety food stores such as: Tesco, Asda,
Morrison's are a popular choice to buy magazine. However due
to the internet more people Are reading online articles rather
than paper versions.

Bauer Media UK is an entertainment network of iconic, multi-platform brands.
The business became part of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest
privately-owned media group, in 2008. Founded in Hamburg in 1875 and now
in its fifth generation of family ownership, the Bauer Media Group operates in
19 countries including the UK, Germany, Poland, Australia, New Zealand and
the USA and has 11,000 employees worldwide. It’s a multinational company.
• Bauers Magazines:
• Today we are Britain’s biggest magazine publisher.
• Our magazine heritage stretches back to 1953 with the launch of Angling Times and the acquisition
in 1956 of Motor Cycle News, both still iconic brands within our portfolio. More recently, Closer
was launched in 2002 and Britain’s first weekly glossy, Grazia, was launched in 2005.
• Our Women’s Weekly magazines include Take A Break, which has long been the UK’s best-selling
women’s weekly title, and TV Choice, the UK’s biggest selling magazine. In 2015, we created a new

who want to enjoy their outdoor living space, without having to become expert gardeners.

• Made in1990 with the acquisition of London dance station KISS FM. Today we operate 81
commercial local, national and digital stations in the UK, including Absolute Radio, Magic, KISS.

information and to see what they're
advertisement is about.
Bauer is another option of a distributor due to its
ability to reach many audiences like he existing dance
music. I believe there is a gap in the magazine
industry for a popular dance magazine as at moment
most popular music magazines seem to be rock.
They would also have bigger budgets to play with and
therefore be able to attract more people with; add
on, giveaways and big artists.
Bauer isn’t just a magazine they also have websites
for there magazines , a radio and telly music videos.
Q- is solely ‘pop’ magazine which
features current music trends. Q’s
unrivalled access to the biggest names
brings music’s most exciting characters to
life. We put the reader in the room with
their favourite artists, helping them
understand what the stars are like to be
with, what they stand for and how their
own journeys have shaped their music.
Our reviews section, Q Review, filters
modern music down to the best and
most important records and gigs every
month.
KERRANG- Is a UK based rock magazine.
It is the most exciting youth culture
brand in existence. The magazine
attracts a truly astounding 8 million
page views per month as well as
engaging with its readers via its 745,000
Facebook fans, 583,000 Twitter
followers and 78,000 Instagram
followers. I would like my website for my
magazine to have these views and an
audience.
MOJO- Is a classical rock magazine often
features Bob Dylan, Elvis and John Lennon
classic rockers. a magazine of high brand
values and integrity. A carefully crafted
musical archive covering the very best of
music across genres. From classic and
modern rock, folk, soul, country to reggae,
electronic and experimental. It prefers to
celebrate quality over popularity – music
that will stand the test of time.
These 3 magazines are all published by Bauer:
• I think Bauer is the best fit for my magazine due to their publishing of
the magazine Q and its success. They only have the hottest artists on
the cover. There isn't just a magazine publication they also have
different platforms: radio and TV and a website. That is what I want for
my magazines advertisement. As well as the variety of audiences and
advertisement Bauer has to get my magazine out there in the world.
However I would change my layout of my magazine and make it
brighter rather than the way they have organized there magazine and
website. This would also help my audience due to being a slightly
younger age.
Mixmag- Magazine:
These are 3 different magazines from the same brand. They have different colours and cover lines, the background colour is depending on
the colour of the masthead. The yellow has a background of brown but the blue background has a white masthead. And the final cover
background is dark blue and the masthead is white. They all relate to my magazines due to the layout and the bright colours and imagery.
Many female artists on there magazines and powerful music artists, as well as many cover lines like on my magazine. Both mix-mag and vibe
may want to buy my magazine and sell it or advertise it as its modern and fits into there selling brands. They use bright colours and
advertise well known artists.
The first issue was printed on 1 February 1983 as a 16-page black-
and-white magazine published by Disco Mix Club
• All magazines have an online presence and a corresponding magazine online. My website would have bright colors such as
yellow to correspond with my magazine covers. Furthermore it’s a unisex color not only for boys or girls but both. As well
as targeting the younger audience as they are people who would most be interested in my music. As we advertise for
festivals online I would put discount on tickets when you subscribe or if you buy a weekly subscription. As well as using
social media as further advertisement, having an Instagram account where we can interact with our subscribers and
customers. And pictures of past events and artists performing. In addition I would make the website clear and labeled with
headings and different options to narrow your search, rather than annoying and confusing. As well as not just music genre
of dance I would have other options for peoples genres to read, and a fashion section for boys and girls clothing and shes;
as it’s a mixed sex website.
This is the Mixmag website its darker toned colors and
although has headings there is a lot of information on the page leaving it
very cluttered. As well as 2 different forms of advertisement, form
Google, and L'Oreal. There magazine has accepted payment from L'Oreal
to advertise there brand on there website as a form of marketing. This
increases there customers and suggests Mixmag has a lot of viewers
reading there magazine ton advertise to.
Mixmag is a British Magazine dedicated to dance and clubbing music,
they are released monthly. The first issue of Mixmag was released by
Development Hell ltd
These 3 brands of magazines are more for pop and dance people. Vibe is an American music and entertainment magazine
founded by producer Quincy Jones. The publication predominantly features R&B and hip hop music artists, actors and
other entertainers. After shutting down production in Summer 2009, Vibe was purchased by the private equity investment
fund. It w found in September 1993; 23 years ago. The magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban
followers of hip hop culture.
Vibe magazine was known for the creative direction of their
covers.

  • 2. • A institution is a company that disperses a media product for audience consumption. What is a institution? IPC media would be an option to distribute my music magazine. I think its because is a popular media institution and distributes music. Ipc was formed in 1963,following the merger of the UK’s leading magazines; George Newness, Ohams Press and Fleetway Publicatin. Since then the Ipc have published many magazines: Women's weekly magazine Sport/leisure Fashion/gossip Lifestyle/home The IPC (international publishing corporation)
  • 3. • IPC media produces over 60 iconic media brands. • UK women and 42% of UK men, almost 26 million UK adults while our website collectively reach over 20 million users every month. • However the Ipc usually publishes rock/indie magazines as they have lot of experience working the specific genre of music as they have published ‘NME’ for many years. However they wanted to have more experience with other genres. The new genre of music to create a new ‘top of the opps’. The dance and pop genre have a very big fan base and audience therefore they should make a lot of profit of the magazines. • However the IPC is such a big and well known company, there should be more advertisement options as it should be both easier and cheaper to advertised with help from such a big media institution. • An option of the type of institutions to distribute my magazines : newsagents, WHSmith, Tesco, exc…This variation enables me to meet all my audience as as most people who want a magazine still goes straight to the shops. • Due to more of a variety food stores such as: Tesco, Asda, Morrison's are a popular choice to buy magazine. However due to the internet more people Are reading online articles rather than paper versions. These are statistics about the viewers and audience the magazine receives.

Bauer is another option of a distributor due to its ability to reach many audiences like he existing dance music. I believe there is a gap in the magazine industry for a popular dance magazine as at moment most popular music magazines seem to be rock. They would also have bigger budgets to play with and therefore be able to attract more people with; add on, giveaways and big artists. Bauer isn’t just a magazine they also have websites for there magazines , a radio and telly music videos.
  • 6. Q- is solely ‘pop’ magazine which features current music trends. Q’s unrivalled access to the biggest names brings music’s most exciting characters to life. Our reviews section, Q Review, filters modern music down to the best and most important records and gigs every month. KERRANG- Is a UK based rock magazine. It is the most exciting youth culture brand in existence. The magazine attracts a truly astounding 8 million page views per month as well as engaging with its readers via its 745,000 Facebook fans, 583,000 Twitter followers and 78,000 Instagram followers. I would like my website for my magazine to have these views and an audience. MOJO- Is a classical rock magazine often features Bob Dylan, Elvis and John Lennon classic rockers. a magazine of high brand values and integrity. A carefully crafted musical archive covering the very best of music across genres. From classic and modern rock, folk, soul, country to reggae, electronic and experimental. It prefers to celebrate quality over popularity – music that will stand the test of time. These 3 magazines are all published by Bauer:
  • 7. • I think Bauer is the best fit for my magazine due to their publishing of the magazine Q and its success. They only have the hottest artists on the cover. There isn't just a magazine publication they also have different platforms: radio and TV and a website. That is what I want for my magazines advertisement. As well as the variety of audiences and advertisement Bauer has to get my magazine out there in the world. However I would change my layout of my magazine and make it brighter rather than the way they have organized there magazine and website. This would also help my audience due to being a slightly younger age.
  • 8. Mixmag- Magazine: These are 3 different magazines from the same brand. They have different colours and cover lines, the background colour is depending on the colour of the masthead. The yellow has a background of brown but the blue background has a white masthead. And the final cover background is dark blue and the masthead is white. They all relate to my magazines due to the layout and the bright colours and imagery. Many female artists on there magazines and powerful music artists, as well as many cover lines like on my magazine. Both mix-mag and vibe may want to buy my magazine and sell it or advertise it as its modern and fits into there selling brands. They use bright colours and advertise well known artists. The first issue was printed on 1 February 1983 as a 16-page black- and-white magazine published by Disco Mix Club
  • 9. • All magazines have an online presence and a corresponding magazine online. My website would have bright colors such as yellow to correspond with my magazine covers. Furthermore it’s a unisex color not only for boys or girls but both. As well as targeting the younger audience as they are people who would most be interested in my music. As we advertise for festivals online I would put discount on tickets when you subscribe or if you buy a weekly subscription. As well as using social media as further advertisement, having an Instagram account where we can interact with our subscribers and customers. And pictures of past events and artists performing. In addition I would make the website clear and labeled with headings and different options to narrow your search, rather than annoying and confusing. As well as not just music genre of dance I would have other options for peoples genres to read, and a fashion section for boys and girls clothing and shes; as it’s a mixed sex website. This is the Mixmag website its darker toned colors and although has headings there is a lot of information on the page leaving it very cluttered. As well as 2 different forms of advertisement, form Google, and L'Oreal. There magazine has accepted payment from L'Oreal to advertise there brand on there website as a form of marketing. This increases there customers and suggests Mixmag has a lot of viewers reading there magazine ton advertise to. Mixmag is a British Magazine dedicated to dance and clubbing music, they are released monthly. The first issue of Mixmag was released by Development Hell ltd

The publication predominantly features R&B and hip hop music artists, actors and other entertainers. After shutting down production in Summer 2009, Vibe was purchased by the private equity investment fund. It w found in September 1993; 23 years ago. The magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban followers of hip hop culture. Vibe magazine was known for the creative direction of their covers. Vibe magazine:
