As Wikipedia states “A target audience, is a particular group of
consumers within the pre-determined target market, identified as the
targets or ‘recipients’ for a particular advertisement or message.”
When we set out to produce our media product, we had
originally aimed it at a target audience of males,
between the ages of 15 and 25.
However as we produced our film it
became clear that we may have
over estimated our target audience.
As you can see we were
slightly too ambitious with
our original estimation on
our target audience.
Our film
Upon revision of our film, I now think that our film should be
aimed at male teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19.

Upon re-visiting my film I can
see how my film would attract a
younger audience. Based on
factors we have used throughout
the film.

As you can see thriller films are
preferred more by males then
woman.
Our film itself is based around a gang
like organisation, but our cast is of
teenagers and young adults.
This will resonate with the potential
audience, as many young males
idolize and glorify gang culture and
its connotations of; violence, alcohol
and danger etc.
With the use of a young cast will also
allow the audience to visualise
themselves in the film scenario.
We also stuck to the codes and
conventions of a thriller, such as
an urban setting and a hidden
identity. Click to see a list of
codes and conventions
We had many different ways of
addressing our audience and
making sure that when addressing
our audience It was effective.
In order to achieve audience
feedback we relied on
questionnaires Click to see an
example . This was extremely
helpful as it allowed for an outside
perspective, an un-bias critical
view on our film.
