Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) is a
phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for the
treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), the signs
and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
as well as ED and the signs and symptoms of BPH
(ED/BPH).
Tadalafil tablets are also indicated for the treatment
of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

Tadacip Tablets are
manufactured by Cipla
Limited, India.

Chemical Structure

The active ingredient contained in
Tadacip tablets is Tadalafil.
Each Tadacip tablet contains 20 mg of
Tadalafil.

Uses of Tadacip 20 mg tablets:
Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) is a treatment for adult men
suffering from Erectile Dysfunction (ED). This is a medical
condition when a man cannot get, or keep a hard, erect penis
suitable for sexual activity. Tadacip has been observed to
significantly improve the ability of obtaining a hard erect penis
suitable for sexual activity.

Urinary symptoms associated with a common condition called
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This is when the prostate
gland gets bigger with age. Symptoms include difficulty in starting
to pass water, a feeling of not completely emptying the bladder
and a more frequent need to pass water even at night.
Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) improves blood flow to, and
relaxes the muscles of, the prostate and bladder which may
reduce symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Tadacip has been shown to improve these urinary symptoms as
early as 1 to 2 weeks after starting treatment.

This medicine is also used to treat ED and the signs and
symptoms of BPH (ED/BPH) at the same time.
Tadalafil tablets (Tadacip) are also used for the treatment of
pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) (WHO Group 1) to improve
exercise ability.
Studies establishing effectiveness included predominately patients
with NYHA Functional Class II – III symptoms and etiologies of
idiopathic or heritable PAH (61%) or PAH associated with
connective tissue diseases (23%).

Recommended Adult Dosage
For most patients, the dose of
Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) to treat Erectile Dysfunction
(ED) for use as needed is 10 mg as needed prior to sexual
activity. Increase to 20 mg or decrease to 5 mg based upon
efficacy/tolerability.
Improves erectile function compared to placebo up to 36 hours
post dose. Not to be taken more than once per day. i.e. 24
hours must pass before you take your next dose.

Warnings
Patients should stop Tadacip and seek prompt
medical attention in the event of sudden decrease
or loss of hearing.
Prior to initiating treatment with Tadacip for BPH,
consideration should be given to other urological
conditions that may cause similar symptoms.

Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) to treat Erectile
Dysfunction (ED) for once daily use: 2.5mg taken once daily,
without regard to timing of sexual activity. May increase to 5
mg based upon efficacy and tolerability.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): 5 mg, taken at
approximately the same time every day.
ED and BPH: 5 mg, taken at approximately the same time
every day.

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: The recommended
dose of Tadalafil tablets (Tadacip) (two 20 mg tablets)
taken once daily with or without food.
Dividing the dose (40 mg) over the course of the day is
not recommended.

Contraindications
➔Tadacip is contraindicated in patients with a known
hypersensitivity to Tadalafil or any component of the
tablet.
➔Administration of Tadacip tablets to patients using any
form of organic nitrate is contraindicated. Tadalafil was
shown to potentiate the hypotensive effect of nitrates.

Storage Instructions
Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) have
to be stored at controlled room temperature
i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with
excursions permitted between 15° to 30°C
(59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Warnings
Patients should not use Tadacip (Generic Tadalafil Tablets) if sex is
NOT advisable due to cardiovascular status.
Use of Tadacip with alpha blockers, antihypertensives or
substantial amounts of alcohol (5 units or greater) may lead to
hypotension.
Tadacip is not recommended in combination with alpha blockers
for the treatment of BPH because efficacy of the combination has
not been adequately studied and because of the risk of blood
pressure lowering. Caution is advised when Tadacip is used as a
treatment for ED in men taking alpha blockers.

Warnings
If taking potent inhibitors of CYP3A4, dose should be adjusted:
Tadacip for use as needed: Less than 10 mg every 72 hours. For
once daily use: dose not to exceed 2.5 mg.
Patients should seek emergency treatment if an erection lasts for
more than 4 hours. Use Tadacip with caution in patients
predisposed to priapism.
Patients should stop Tadacip and seek medical care if a sudden loss
of vision occurs in one or both eyes, which could be a sign of Non
Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION). Discuss increased risk
of NAION in patients with history of NAION.

Warnings
Patients should stop Tadacip and seek prompt medical
attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of
hearing.
Prior to initiating treatment with Tadacip for BPH,
consideration should be given to other urological
conditions that may cause similar symptoms.

Possible Side Effects
Most common Tadalafil tablets (Tadacip) side effects with
an incidence rate of greater than or equal to 2% and more
frequent on drug than placebo observed during clinical trials
were Headache, Dyspepsia, Nasopharyngitis, Back pain,
Upper respiratory tract infection, Flushing, Myalgia, Cough,
Diarrhea, Nasal congestion, Pain in extremity, Urinary tract
infection, Gastroesophageal reflux disease and Abdominal
pain.

Additional, less frequent side effects (Less than 2%) reported in controlled clinical
trials of Tadalafil tablets for once daily use or use as needed. A causal relationship of
these events to Tadalafil is NOT certain.
Body as a Whole — asthenia, face edema, fatigue, pain
Cardiovascular — angina pectoris, chest pain, hypotension, myocardial infarction,
postural hypotension, palpitations, syncope, tachycardia
Digestive — abnormal liver function tests, dry mouth, dysphagia, esophagitis,
gastritis, GGTP increased, loose stools, nausea, upper abdominal pain, vomiting,
gastroesophageal reflux disease, hemorrhoidal hemorrhage, rectal hemorrhage
Musculoskeletal — arthralgia, neck pain Nervous — dizziness, hypesthesia, insomnia,
paresthesia, somnolence, vertigo

Additional, less frequent side effects (Less than 2%) reported in controlled clinical
trials of Tadalafil tablets for once daily use or use as needed. A causal relationship of
these events to Tadalafil is NOT certain.
Renal and Urinary — renal impairment
Respiratory — dyspnea, epistaxis, pharyngitis
Skin and Appendages — pruritus, rash, sweating
Ophthalmologic — blurred vision, changes in color vision, conjunctivitis (including
conjunctival hyperemia), eye pain, lacrimation increase, swelling of eyelids
Otologic — sudden decrease or loss of hearing, tinnitus
Urogenital — erection increased, spontaneous penile erection

Overdosage
Single doses up to 500 mg of Tadalafil tablets (Tadacip) have
been given to healthy subjects, and multiple daily doses up
to 100 mg have been given to patients.
Adverse events were similar to those seen at lower doses. In
cases of overdose, standard supportive measures should be
adopted as required. Hemodialysis contributes negligibly to
tadalafil elimination.

Pregnancy
Tadalafil (Tadacip tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category B. Tadacip (Tadalafil) is not indicated for use in
women. There are no adequate and well controlled studies of Tadalafil
tablets use in pregnant women.
Animal reproduction studies in rats and mice revealed no evidence of
fetal harm.
Animal reproduction studies showed no evidence of teratogenicity,
embryotoxicity, or fetotoxicity when tadalafil was given to pregnant rats
or mice at exposures up to 11 times the maximum recommended
human dose (MRHD) of 20 mg/day during organogenesis.
