Battle Of The Ia Drang Valley
Battle of the Ia Drang Valley The Battle of the Ia Drang Valley was the first major battle of the
Vietnam War that engaged regular forces of the United States Army ushering in a new era of combat.
Air Assault of Artillery and Close Air Support used together for the first time in Vietnam allowed an
agile small force to be successful against a much larger enemy contingency. Operation Silver Bayonet
pitted the Third Brigade of the First Cavalry Division: 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion of the 7th
Cavalry Regiment, and the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Cavalry Regiment, against a much larger
Vietnamese force to include the People s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Viet Cong guerilla
fighters. The fighting lasted from 14 November to 18 November 1965. Americans today have a
negative view of the Vietnam but in November 1965 the war in Vietnam had just begun and American
opinion of the Vietnam was extremely favorable. The American People agreed upon the idea that if
Vietnam was to fall to Communism, the entire Southeast Asian region was next. North Vietnamese
General Chu Huy Man and his headquarters element planned operations in the central highlands area
of South Vietnam. His objectives were to attack American forces and control the western plateau
consisting of Kontuam, Pleiku, binhdinh, and Phubon Provinces. The campaign began in the fall and
by the end of October 1st Calvary Division was going the offense against General Man s 32n d and

Boeing is the world s largest manufacturer of military and commercial aircraft, which was founded in
1916 by William Boeing and Navy Engineer Conrad Westervelt in the name of Pacific Aero Products
Company in Seattle, which after active participation in World war I was renamed to Boeing Airplane
Company (Frederick, 2014).
Boeing produced several hundreds of B 17 Flying fortress during World War II which became the U.S

Because of this tool, Boeing wanted to collaborate its partners planning schedules and progress in
work so as to ensure that no delay in manufacturing. But Exostar which opted by Boeing posed
problems during its runtime. Also as a part of cultural difference and due to lack of trust on other
suppliers some of the vendors involved in 787 design did not input accurate and timely information.
As a result of this inaccurate information Boeing had not discovered the problems at the early stages
and in a timely fashion (Zhao, 2012).
Boeing during 2003 lost its share value to Airbus which is a strong opponent to it (Boeing
Corporation, 2014). In order to regain its value in the market Boeing decided to design an aircraft by
enhancing its customers. So in the process of designing a new aircraft Boeing decided to use
composite carbon fiber instead of regular aluminum to an large extent which had not been
implemented in the past. Because of this composite fibers Boeing estimated to decrease the cost of
travel for its passengers and to increase fuel efficiency. But this step backfired in getting air bubbles
on the skin of fuselage and nose during assembling of aircraft which resulted in delay of 787

Security And The OSI Model Essay
Security and the OSI Model Network security is a topic that reaches far beyond the realm of firewalls,
passwords, and user ID accounts. For a network and data to remain secure there must be protective
measures at each level in the OSI interconnect model. While each layer basically operates
autonomously of the other it is important to ensure that the data being transmitted from the host to
destination has not been tampered with or is being prevented from reaching its destination. There are
seven level to the OSI interconnect model; each with its own special tasks, abilities, and weaknesses.

ARP is a simple protocol that was never designed for authentication. Any end station that has access to
the layer two environment can claim any IP address if the proper security measures are not taken. ARP
spoofing or ARP poisoning occurs when an attacker s computer forges its credentials to allow the host
to believe that it is the intended recipient. If the attackers computer forwards all of the data that is to
be sent to the intended host it is very likely that the man in the middle would go undetected. At any
time the attacker can make changes to the data that is forwarded, copy and use the data, or flood the
network with erroneous packets that cause data collisions and effectively bring network traffic to a
halt. The process of wardriving is a new threat that has surfaced with the popularity of 802.11 style
wireless connections. Poor security with these devices allows an attacker virtually unrestricted access
to the data link layer and beyond. It is not very difficult to walk around various areas in a busy
metropolitan area and pick up unsecured wireless signals and gain access to private networks where
the owner has little idea of you presence. The third layer is the network layer. In the network layer
data is routed through various physical networks while traveling to a known host. Information
contained in the network layer allows routers to make decisions on how the data gets to its destination.

Inhumanity In Night Elie Wiesel
From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. The look in his eyes gazed at me and
never left. (Wiesel 115). Since the inmates were treated horribly for such a tremendous amount of
time, it left images of the beatings they took, the never ending work they had to do, and the killing of
their friends in their head. Two main points proven in Night by Elie Wiesel is how he created stronger
bonds with people and how he lost faith in someone he use to praise and pray to every day. When
going through a rough period of time, people may lose hope in their faith or religion. To start with,
when the summer was wrapping up, Elie sees people praying and states, Why, but why would I bless
him? Every fiber in me rebelled. Because he caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People had to help each other to survive and keep themselves safe. Although it can sometimes be an
every man for himself situation in the camps, an inmate saves Elie and his father when he says, The
man interrogating me was an inmate. I could not see his face, but his voice was weary and warm. He
asked my age. Fifteen No, you re eighteen But I m not I said. I m fifteen Fool, listen to what I tell
you... (Wiesel 30). Certainly this may have come off as being rude, but this was a major help to Elie
and his father. If they were to actually give up and tell their real jobs, this could have put them in the
crematorium. The Nazis were looking for healthy, strong, and fit people. Since Ellie was young and
his father was old at the time, they probably wouldn t have met the Nazis requirements. Likewise,
another moment of hope was when Ellie shared his soup with his sick father and states Did you eat?
No. They wouldn t give us anything... I gave him what was left of my soup. (Wiesel 107). Even
though Elie is hungry too, he still managed to give up half of his soup. His father is on the verge of
death and people are telling him to stop caring for his father, but he still continues to share his meals
with him. Provided that, Elie has created a much bigger connection with his father rather than just the
father and son role. In the end, the result of inhumanity can cause people to change for the better and
help people a lot

Eagle Project Accomplishments
The completion of the final project required for the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts is what I would
consider the most important point of maturity for me personally, and my biggest accomplishment to
date. The project is included to test the leadership skills of those completing it, as well as their
determination. The whole rank of Eagle is aimed towards showing determination, in fact, with
requirements such as staying in an active leadership position for multiple months or the need for a
certain number of specific merit badges. These are gained over time and for most who get this far the
Eagle Project is one of their last goals yet to be achieved. My project was to help the community

Confucius Curry and a Mountain Dew
As Americans, we ridicule others based on their selection of clothing. We are snobby because of how
much money we make or what we hold as an occupation. We chew with our mouths full of macaroni
and curse when the soda machine is out of Pepsi. We could use some manners, or maybe just a
reintroduction. Confucius thought is constructed on kindness and propriety, as well as holding the
morally virtuous to be the ideal person. This philosophy exceedingly expresses value in benevolence,
education, and the treatment of other people, but has hidden innuendos that would knock the petals off
any flower child. In this reflection paper, I will dabble with how incorporating Confucius thought and
practices would help in some areas of American society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the notion of banning those comedians was a new law, I would probably cry myself to sleep every

Amending the Amendments Currently, the United States ranks first in number of prisoners. That is
kind of depressing, isn t it? We like our jails full and our streets empty (empty of crime, of course).
What is found in the emotional bluster of those prisoners hearts is the complete opposite of what the
Confucianism concepts are: Jen (benevolence) and Li (prosperity). Jen can be understood as the good
hearten nature in human beings, and Li is the guide that is followed to ensure that the practice of Jen is
appropriate. With the acceptance and performance of these concepts, all is well in the state. Li has a
basis on five relationships: Sovereign to subject, parent to child, elder to younger brother, husband to
wife, friend to friend. Should everyone fulfill their respective position in those relationships, all is well
in the state. There is no much thought behind punishment because everyone is born into a moral
atmosphere. If one does not know what greed is, do they even think about it? In this style of
governing, to reign supreme does not entitle an advantageous power, but one who controls the order of
the state to keep it in check. The position can be described as a Sheppard amongst sheep. With the
preaching of happiness and kindness, this would only help the arguments

Descriptive Essay About Mission Inn

The Mission Inn Walking the streets through Downtown Riverside, it s hard to miss the giant castle
esque structure that takes up an entire city block. The Mission Inn s Spanish architecture and lush
green variety of trees and bushes can be seen from a mile away. Taking an aerial view of Downtown
Riverside allows one to see what sets this entire city block apart. The tops of every building that make
up the Inn are colored a foreign maroon red which greatly contrast with the rest of the city s boring
gray rooftops. The structure makes a giant upside down horseshoe shape which is centered around a
gorgeous sparkling pool, which itself is surrounded by a ring of greenery that encompasses the entire
center of the U shape. Behind the U are several wings that make up the rest of the Inn, which include
rooms for guests to stay in and all of the other commodities that the hotel has for visitors, such as a
museum filled with artwork and artifacts, and several different dining options.
Before entering the ancient luxurious Spanish castle through the main entrance, one walks through
walkways filled with rich shrubbery and plants that line the wall and the fence closest to the street.
The entrance to the Inn lies behind the U shaped driveway where guests can have their exotic cars
valet parked. Entering the Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside during the night time was a
breathtaking experience. Sounds of crickets chirping and

Miep Gies, born as Hermine Santrouschitz was born in Vienna, Austria in 1909. At a young age, she
had to leave her family for economic reasons. She was sent to live in Leiden, Holland. Her host family
there gave her the name Miep. Then in 1922 she moved with her adopted family to Amsterdam. She

During the 1930 s many dangerous things happened with Miep and the Frank family. Miep and the
Frank s disagree with Hitler s and the Nazis policies. In 1938, during a routine renewal of her Austrian
passport, she discovers that it is no longer valid. Her passport was replaced with a German passport
with the Nazi swastika. She is later invited to join a Nazi affiliated women s organization. She says
she will not join the club when the Germans are doing such awful things to the Jews in Germany. The

Nordstrom vs. JCPenney
Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom.
Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large,
and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that
much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for
them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes
that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a
combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender,
race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich
(2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida
is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the
state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is
primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social
stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99%
and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class
occupy a different social stratification than those who occupy the lower

Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders
The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes
things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different
circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can
be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of
Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and
depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and
dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to
those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple
reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on
books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person
takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and
the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the
person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this
is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they
actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient
doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie
and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will
Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around
and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his
therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his
walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time
and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why
therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the
inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not
the environment, which what we re a main

Liquor Never Brewed
In I taste a liquor never brewed Emily Dickinson expresses her passion and love for nature by talking
about her intoxication of alcohol. The extended metaphor and use of sound reflects the speaker s
attitude toward nature. With a decently constructed extended metaphor, Dickinson shows her love of
nature. The open line brings something interest to the reader: a liquor never brewed (l.1). How can a
liquor never have brewed be a liquor? This opening line hooks attention tightly by introducing a
seemingly contradiction. The special liquor initiates the metaphor of nature, which is strengthened and
clarified by inebriate of air (l.5) and Debauchee of Dew (l.6) in the second stanza. Dickinson connects
features of drunkenness and nature in those two lines: the narrator is not getting drunk with alcohol,
but with the admirable scenery in nature. The following line further explains the setting of the poem
endless summer day (l.7). Also, in the first stanza, the speaker comments that the liquor never ... Show

The second and fourth line in each stanza have end rhymes, such as door (l.10) and more (l.12), run
(l.14) and sun (l.16). The regular pattern of the end rhymes adds on order in the poem, and forms a
contrast with the first and third line in the stanza. The order of rhymes can represent the order of
nature; the disorder of other lines can represent the excitement after drinking alcohol and the speaker s
copious love for nature. Moreover, the alliteration in the poems adds singsong quality: Debauchee...
Dew (l.6), seraph... swing... snowy... saints (l.12 13). And through her word choice of informal words
such as Debauchee (1.6) and Tippler (l.15), we can feel a light and bright tone in the poem. This tone
connects to the real subject of the poem nature because summer days are delightful and

The Novel The Tale Of Heike
The Tale of Heike centers around the war between two clans, the Taira or Heike in the story and the
Minamoto or known as Genji in the story in the 1100s. The work is often equated to other historical
pieces of work such as the Iliad, the general plot of the work revolves around aspects of warrior
culture and Japan during the medieval age. Since the piece was like other historical epic poems, there
is not single author and the story has evolved being passed down through an oral culture before finally
being transcribed. It is a great source for many themes important to the Japanese, as well as insight
into perhaps into Japan s military past. It is also sometimes referred to as the Heike Monogatari and is

This is a great example of the reality of war, since there is often an us versus them mentality, is it easy
to lose one s humanity, but Kumagae still retained his empathy and realizes that he has no choice,
since it was born into war and it is his duty to fight. This compassion is often found in the Japanese
society, as caring for others is an important task. Additionally, throughout each version of the story
one object remains prevalent, which is Atsumori s flute. The image and sound of the flute is tranquil,
perhaps going along with the notion that though Atsumori was a warrior, he also was a gentle person.
The next section will highlight some differences found between all three texts.
Interestingly, Kumagae is named Kumagai in the Kabuki version of the story, a five act play. There is

Fuji no Kata, the couple is able to escape to Western Japan with their child. Later, Fuji no Kata has a
child, who is Atsumori, and this fact is known by Yoshitsune. In this story, Yoshitsune senses that it is
destiny for Kumagai and Atsumori to meet on the battlefield, and would be forced into the
predicament of not killing the boy because of his debt to Fuji no Kata or losing credibility as a solider
for sparing an enemy. He plants a message stating Anyone killing a son must kill his own son

Kroger s Module Analysis
Introduction
The cereal aisle analysis took place at Consumer Square West Shopping Center at the Kroger s located
on Soldano Blvd in Columbus, Ohio. The analysis was completed on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from
12:19 p.m. until 1:10 p.m. The cereal aisle was located in the middle of the store and was 6ft by 30ft.
The store carried four brands of cereal. A brand is a type of product manufactured by a particular
company under a particular name (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2015). The three brands offered at
Kroger s were Kellogg, General Mills, Quaker and Kroger. The Kellogg brand had 18 different types
of cereal with each cereal having 1 to 10 different varieties. The General Mills brand had 14 different
brands with 1 to 12 different varieties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reviewing the consumer purchases history through their individual Kroger reward cards and the
individual customer payment type could verify this hypothesis. If this hypothesis is proven, Kroger s
should adjust its sale items to include more of a variety of cereals. Offering more cereals that are not
sugar filled cereals and are more designed toward older customers give those consumers that
purchases that are influenced by their income, lifestyle and life stage a better selection to purchase
more cereals. Offering more items in the sale items gives Kroger s a better chance of influencing their
customers to make the decision to purchase more items while still feeling they are getting a good
value for their money.
There are questions that need to be answered in order to prove this hypothesis. These questions are:
What is the average income of the customers that shop at Kroger s?; What is the ratio between the
older customers and the younger customers who shop at Kroger s?; What are the types of sales at other

Description of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
The EHR mandate is an order set for when all healthcare records are to become electronic or
electronically kept and readily available. In 2004 president, Bush set a goal that all health records
would be electronic by 2014. It was assumed that Electronic Health Records (EHR) would promote
increased quality of health care and reduce costs, and also that the availability of electronic records
would reduce errors (simborg, 2008). Simborg also said, The addition of clinical decision support
functions in many EHRs to warn physicians to potential errors and influence their behaviors toward
evidence based decisions further enhances the potential of EHRs to promote quality and reduce costs.
(Simborg, 2008).

Characterizing The Structure Of Composite Material
Characterizing the structure of composite material in a fishing rod
Muad Saleh
Abstract
This report introduces the dependence of the mechanical properties of a fishing rod made from glass
reinforced epoxy on the orientation, morphology, and volume fraction of the fibers used in making the
rod. This has been achieved by studying the surface of multiple cross sections of the fishing rod that
are mounted on epoxy by using optical microscopes. Then through analyzing different cross section,
the mechanical properties of the studied fishing rod have been linked to orientation, size, shape, and
volume fraction of the fibers.

elasticity than that of the matrix, but they are often very brittle [2]. Therefore, the matrix phase is
usually the source of the composites ductility, whereas the fiber is the source of its strength.
Furthermore, composited have a wider range of properties than the other types of material; thus, they
are used in more application. For instance, the material used in fishing poles should have a high tensile
and compressive strengths, and a high modulus of elasticity, as that they are subject to high stresses,
which they need to withstand without failing or going through much plastic deformation. Moreover,
fishing poles have to be ductile and flexible, as that they should have the ability to bend. Such
properties cannot often be achieved by using a single type of material; however, those properties can
be found in different composites. According to Philips [3], fishing rods are commonly made of fibers
glass or carbon embedded in a matrix of epoxy or lignin.
Because of the unlimited number of matrix/ fiber combinations that can be used to form composites,
and the great number of variables that can be controlled in composite materials, composites can attain
a wide range of mechanical properties. For instance, the mechanical properties depend on the
properties of both the matrix and the fiber phases; as that, the

Strengths and Weaknesses Concluding remarks References 2 2 3 4 5 6
Introduction In today s modern society shaped by economic and social challenges, business strategy
has never been more important. A rethink of theoretical management practices is fundamental to
establishing innovative strategic design to cope with these challenges. (Hahn et al, 2010). This is not a
new idea, in fact, in 2009, Guerrera challenged Michael Porter s underlying premise that businesses
are there to make money while Figge and Hahn (2008) go as far as to accuse such strategies of
aggravating the current economic situation. Henry Mintzberg s ... Show more content on

They conclude that meaning, compromising perspective, knowledge, and learning, underlies action.
[p88] It is evident that this debate will continue to grow in interest and relevance in a modern, global
society and it is important to look at the underlying premise behind Mintzberg s conviction.
Underlying premise Mintzberg s underlying assumption is that businesses must learn which
opportunities are available in the current and future environments and to do this, strategy must be
developed by managers at the operational level: built from occasional nuggets they uncover [p111]
and not by senior managers and analysts in an ivory tower looking backwards at past data. Birger
Wernerfelt, (1984) illustrates an organisation driven, resource based view of strategy in which firms
can influence the environment in which they operate. Wernerfelt argues that firms must first
understand their organisation and develop ways to shape their business surroundings accordingly. On
the other side of this learning debate, Porter (1985) presents a positioning approach where the role of
the strategist is to identify the external forces of the environment (Competitive forces Model: Porter,
1979) and find a unique and valuable position in which the firm can flourish. As is typical in
organisational strategy, nothing is clear cut and indeed Mintzberg s article draws parallels with both
Wernerfelt and Porter. In this article, he argues that organisations must learn which opportunities are

How Did Thomassen s Patients Choose To Have Build...
Dr. John Michael Thomassen can perform a breast lift (Mastopexy) alone or in combination with a
Breast Augmentation; however, many of Dr. Thomassen s patients choose to have these two
procedures performed in a single surgery.
What Causes Breast Changes?
As time passes, the breasts lose their youthful contour, become less firm and the skin loses its
elasticity. These changes may result from gravity, weight fluctuations, pregnancy/breastfeeding and/or
genetics.
What a Breast Lift Can Accomplish
Dr. Thomassen performs Breast Lift procedures at his surgical suite in Fort Lauderdale to reduce the
size of the areola and create a more youthful, uplifted breast profile; as a result, patients enjoy a
rejuvenated figure.

Patients frequently have a mammogram before and after surgery: Radiologists compare these
mammograms to future mammograms to look for changes within the breast tissue. Take specific
medications or adjust current medications. Avoid taking anti inflammatory drugs, aspirin and herbal
supplements: These products can increase the incidence of bleeding. Stop smoking.
Breast Augmentation with a Lift The Procedure
A Breast Augmentation with a Lift is performed as an outpatient procedure at Dr. Thomassen s
surgical suite in Fort Lauderdale; therefore, patients need to bring a driver with them on the day of
their surgery. Furthermore, patients should have someone remain with them for the first night
following their Breast Lift with an Augmentation.
1. Anesthesia
During a Breast Augmentation with a Lift, patients receive medication to ensure they remain
comfortable throughout the procedure. The medication choices include general anesthesia or
intravenous sedation. Dr. Thomassen recommends which medication he believes with serve the patient
the best.

Oedipus, A Liar, By Sophocles
In the play Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, Oedipus remains blind throughout the play, both figuratively
and literally. The play is about a man named Oedipus whose fate is to kill his father and marry his
mother. His biological parents, knowing about the Oedipus prophecy, abandons him, and continue
with their lives. However, Oedipus is saved, but spends his life running away from his adoptive
parents (who he believed to be his biological parents), afraid that the prophecy may come true. As the
audience knows, the prophecy has been fulfilled, however, Oedipus is oblivious to the truth. He often
chooses to ignore the truth and remain figuratively blind to what everyone is trying to prove to him.
He accuses Tiresias, the blind prophet, of being a liar, continuing to then unreasonably project his
anger towards Creon . Once he finally opens his eyes to the truth, he decides to gouge out his eyes,
becoming literally blind. Firstly, Oedipus accuses Tiresias of being a liar after trying to discuss the
prophecy and tell Oedipus the truth. Tiresias is called in to help release the city from the plague. After
some resistance, the prophet reveals that Oedipus is the murderer of Laius, angering Oedipus as
Tiresias had predicted. Oedipus rejects Tiresias words, saying things such as That obscenity, twice by
god, you ll pay (Pg.180, 414) as well as Your words are nothing futile (Pg. 180, 416). His figurative
blindness affects his judgement, causing him to not accept what Tiresias is

Character Analysis Of The Glies In Lord Of The Flies
Chapter 1: I think this setting is important because it tells us that the boys will be alone on an
uninhabited island. The young school boys range from ages 6 12. Because of this, the boys will have
no form of communication and no way of getting home without assistance. By being alone, they re
going to need to learn how to survive and create a system of orders. For example, a leader will be
selected and the duties will be given. Among all the boys, the boy named Ralph became leader and
gave Jack the position to lead the hunters and explorers around there new environment. Also, the
setting plays an important role because their way of life will greatly differ from how they lived back at
home, resulting in the need to rely on each other for help and assistance in order to survive. Not only
that, but because Jack wanted to become leader, there will be a struggle in power for leadership. That
is why the setting will be a major part in there journey returning home.
Chapter 2: If I were Piggy at this point, I would step up among the boys. This is because he is very
intelligent and has a clear understanding of most situations involving the boys. Since Piggy is
intelligent and has a good mindset he should be more listened to and viewed as a higher rank to Ralph
that is leader, Jack who wants to be leader and the Choir because they give him almost no thought.
Also, Piggy should be able to give commands to the choir when Ralph or Jack isn t around. For

Respiratory Disease Research Paper
The human body s normal pH level is between 7.35 and 7.45. If this level of pH is below 7.35 that is
considered acidosis. If the level is above 7.45 it is then considered alkalosis. Respiratory acidosis is
the slowing of ventilation from the lungs. Your body eliminates carbon dioxide from liquids through
the lungs. If the level of carbon dioxide increases this will form with water and become carbonic acid.
Carbonic acid forms hydrogen ions, which cause the pH levels to decrease. If these levels start to go
below 7.35 it is respiratory acidosis related. Our kidneys help regulate the pH levels when the lungs
can no longer help. The kidneys will help secrete hydrogen ions by urinating. When respiratory
acidosis occurs the buildup of carbon dioxide is very fast and the kidneys cannot function fast enough
to retain a balance. Respiratory acidosis is usually caused by respiratory failure. Some conditions that
cause this are asthma, COPD, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and sleep apnea. Doctors have also
found that severe obesity can cause respiratory acidosis because it restricts the lungs from fully
expanding. Some patients may complain of a headache or blurred vision. Others may feel anxiety,
restlessness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

vomiting. The use of diuretics can cause to body to expel fluids quickly. Other known causes include

confusion and lightheadedness. Some may feel nausea and vomiting. They have also reported muscle
spasms, numbness or tingling in the face, hands, or feet. Metabolic alkalosis is diagnosed by
measuring electrolytes and blood gases. Depending on the tests results a patient may be administered

How to start a Web Business
How to start a Web Business The number one question to ask when starting a business, whether on the
Web or in a traditional setting, is why would people want to buy the product or service. Somewhere in
the world, one can find people selling anything so why would people come to you? Are you selling
something unique, do you make or market something that no one can find anywhere else or would
find it almost impossible to find elsewhere? Do you sell your product at a lower price then anyone
else? Maybe your prices are competitive with other businesses but you offer superior service. Perhaps
you have the ability to offer unique services that no one else can or will duplicate. Do you have some
other advantage over other companies? The next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Find which company provides their Web hosting and see if it is affordable. Web server housing should
only be purchased by individuals with experience in Web servers or those willing to pay to have
someone else manage the server. This option is one that most people will not find appealing. The next
decision is what should be offered on the Web page. Many different things regarding a business can be
put on the Web page. Should the page list all the products offered? Will the page detail descriptions of
all products, only the names, or something else? Some design choices should be made deciding how
items will be sold. If items will be sold online, there are several ways to accomplish this. They fall
into two basic categories, those requiring user interaction and those that are completely automatic.
User interactive systems can include Web based forms and email links. With a Web based form, a user
indicates the items desired and other ordering information. When the user is finished the information
is forwarded to an account representative who keys information into the ordering system just as they
would if they were taking orders over the phone or by fax.
The second type of online system is one in which the person completes the online order from and the
server takes the information given and automatically enters the data in the ordering system. This
method can also do

Law And Grace In The Bible And Aesop s Fables
In today s world people make a common mistake by making comparisons with the Bible and Aesop s
Fables. In the Bible it is important to which is emphasized more, law or grace. It is just as important to
do the same in Aesop s Fables. Very often a mistake is easily made in reading Jesus s Parables.
Understanding the emphasis of law and grace in both the Bible and Aesop s Fables and realizing
mistakes we make with reading Jesus s parables can help with reading the parables
Both law and grace are emphasized in the Bible. The Apostle Paul writes in his book of Romans, For
by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes
knowledge of sin. In this passage the the Apostle Paul saying that no one can be saved from following
God s law. His thoughtful reasoning is that God only made the law because of our constant sinning. In
the book of Matthew, Jesus states, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many
for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus tells that his blood is the fulfillment of the covenant God made with
man. What Jesus is saying because of the sacrifice anyone who believes in him will be forgiven. In the
Bible it states that no one can follow the law given by God because it originated from sin but those
who believes in Christ are saved because of the grace given by God.
In Aesop s Fables however law is more emphasized than grace in the silly stories. In The Ants and the

Sacred Twins Movie Analysis
Sacred Twins, Profane Treatment This is the story of the sacred twins, Thaues and Taous, and the
events that lead to them becoming the attendants of the Apis bull, as recounted in a letter written by
Ptolemaios to Ptolemy VI.The film is a tale of murder, betrayal, theft and the gods, and includes
scenes daily Egyptian life that create ties between the modern viewer and ancient Egypt. One of the
central themes of the film is the economic activity that surrounds spiritual life in Egypt and the temple
complexes. Another major theme is the legal structure that developed in Egypt around economic
activity and family law. These two aspects combine to form the major structure underpinning the girl s
narrative, creating a fascinating look at life in Ptolemaic Egypt. Temple complexes in Egypts
functioned as market places for a diverse range of goods and services. People would travel to the city
of Sakkara to seek answers to their prayers, bringing coins with them that were quickly spent in the
city. Pilgrims could purchase charms, potions, and favors from the gods, converting their gold or silver
coins into a less temporal, religious currency. This attracted merchants and craftsman to the temples,
creating an entire economy devoted to serving the visitors. A ceremony such as the Apis bull funeral
depicted in the film would draw in far greater numbers of pilgrims and provide an economic boom for
the temple economy. Service in an ancient Egyptian temple complex also included

Birth Control Is The Practice Of Preventing Unwanted...
Imagine you ran out of your favorite toothpaste but instead of just running to the nearest drug store
you have to call your doctor s office, set an appointment, receive a prescription then go to the
pharmacy to have it filled just to get a new tube of toothpaste. Obviously people do not have to go
through this process just to get toothpaste but they do in fact have to go through this process to obtain
birth control pills. According to merriam webster.com, birth control is the practice of preventing
unwanted pregnancies; it used all around the world. There are many different contraceptive types that
people use to prevent unwanted pregnancies, including, but not limited to, condoms, vaginal rings,
sponges, implants, shots, abstinence, and birth control pills. Practicing safe sex should be ready option
for all people. Men wear condoms while women take birth control; it is as simple as that. However,
why is it that anyone can buy condoms, but in order for a woman to get birth control, she must have a
prescription? This paper will explain the health benefits of birth control, discuss the consequences of
not having direct access to the pill, and the effects of making birth control more accessible. Over the
counter access to the pill could be a game changer for public health, eliminating an unnecessary
barrier to a highly effective form of birth control. The benefits of providing birth control pills over the
counter far outweigh the risks and as a society we should be strong

orchestra sat up there in the beautiful auditorium dressed in their all black formal attire holding their
various instruments including the woodwinds, strings, brass, and percussions. The orchestra was in the
middle of playing Symphony No. 8 in F major, Opus 93. This symphony included 5 compositions that
were all very similar to each other. In most of the compositions they took the audience on a roller

Essay on Slave Ship
The Slave Ship by Marcus Rediker is a great fiction novel that describes the horrifying experiences of
Africans, seamen, and captains on their journey through the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage
marked the water way in the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and the Americas. The use of slaves
provided a great economy for the European countries due to the fact that these African slaves provided
free labor while cultivating sugar cane in the Caribbean and America. Rediker describes the slave
migration by saying, There exists no account of the mechanism for history s greatest forced migration,
which was in many ways the key to an entire phase of globalization (10). This tells us that African

Some Africans did not go without putting up a fight. For instance, Captain Tomba led many villagers
in burning huts and killing neighbors who cooperated with slave traders (14). He was later captured
and sent to the slave ship where he would be sold in the New World. The slaves also resisted by
refusing to eat. Most of them decided they would rather have death than to live the lifestyle on the
slave ships. The captains punished those who refused to eat by giving them lashes to the bare skin
until they decided to eat. Olaudah Equiano could be considered one of the more fortunate Africans
involved in the slave trade. Rediker uses Equiano to show how Africans were kidnapped and brought
to the slave ship. Equiano was home alone with his sister when he was snatched by a neighboring
enemy tribe. Tribes were kidnapping each other to sell to the slave traders for goods and even
weapons. Equiano was separated from his sister and sold off to merchants before actually boarding the
slave ship. He mentioned several times how he would rather die than be on the slave ship. He noticed
right away that the slave ship was equipped with nettings to prevent precisely such desperate rebellion
(109). Equiano went to the Americas and was left alone when none of the merchants purchased him.
He was sold to a captain and boarded his ship back to England. On this slave ship, he was treated
much better. He got to stay on the deck and eat better food than he had

spending, which increased by 3.9 percent in 2012, 0.4 percentage points faster than in 2011 (

spending grew faster in 2012 than in 2011, but growth in private health insurance and Medicare
spending was a little slower. The national health spending is still continuing to grow faster then our

  • 2. Battle Of The Ia Drang Valley Battle of the Ia Drang Valley The Battle of the Ia Drang Valley was the first major battle of the Vietnam War that engaged regular forces of the United States Army ushering in a new era of combat. Air Assault of Artillery and Close Air Support used together for the first time in Vietnam allowed an agile small force to be successful against a much larger enemy contingency. Operation Silver Bayonet pitted the Third Brigade of the First Cavalry Division: 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion of the 7th Cavalry Regiment, and the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Cavalry Regiment, against a much larger Vietnamese force to include the People s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Viet Cong guerilla fighters. The fighting lasted from 14 November to 18 November 1965. Americans today have a negative view of the Vietnam but in November 1965 the war in Vietnam had just begun and American opinion of the Vietnam was extremely favorable. The American People agreed upon the idea that if Vietnam was to fall to Communism, the entire Southeast Asian region was next. North Vietnamese General Chu Huy Man and his headquarters element planned operations in the central highlands area of South Vietnam. His objectives were to attack American forces and control the western plateau consisting of Kontuam, Pleiku, binhdinh, and Phubon Provinces. The campaign began in the fall and by the end of October 1st Calvary Division was going the offense against General Man s 32n d and 33rd Regiments following failed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Case study of Boeing Dreamliner Title of case: Boeing 787 Dreamliner Critical Facts: Boeing is the world s largest manufacturer of military and commercial aircraft, which was founded in 1916 by William Boeing and Navy Engineer Conrad Westervelt in the name of Pacific Aero Products Company in Seattle, which after active participation in World war I was renamed to Boeing Airplane Company (Frederick, 2014). Boeing produced several hundreds of B 17 Flying fortress during World War II which became the U.S Bomber. Because of this tool, Boeing wanted to collaborate its partners planning schedules and progress in work so as to ensure that no delay in manufacturing. But Exostar which opted by Boeing posed problems during its runtime. Also as a part of cultural difference and due to lack of trust on other suppliers some of the vendors involved in 787 design did not input accurate and timely information. As a result of this inaccurate information Boeing had not discovered the problems at the early stages and in a timely fashion (Zhao, 2012). Boeing during 2003 lost its share value to Airbus which is a strong opponent to it (Boeing Corporation, 2014). In order to regain its value in the market Boeing decided to design an aircraft by enhancing its customers. So in the process of designing a new aircraft Boeing decided to use composite carbon fiber instead of regular aluminum to an large extent which had not been implemented in the past. Because of this composite fibers Boeing estimated to decrease the cost of travel for its passengers and to increase fuel efficiency. But this step backfired in getting air bubbles on the skin of fuselage and nose during assembling of aircraft which resulted in delay of 787 Dreamliner (Pearlson Saunders, 2013) Boeing in the process of reduction in time and cost it opted a supply chain process in which it adopted from Toyota. • 4. Security And The OSI Model Essay Security and the OSI Model Network security is a topic that reaches far beyond the realm of firewalls, passwords, and user ID accounts. For a network and data to remain secure there must be protective measures at each level in the OSI interconnect model. While each layer basically operates autonomously of the other it is important to ensure that the data being transmitted from the host to destination has not been tampered with or is being prevented from reaching its destination. There are seven level to the OSI interconnect model; each with its own special tasks, abilities, and weaknesses. There are seven layers in the OSI interconnect model; they are the Physical, Datalink, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ARP is a simple protocol that was never designed for authentication. Any end station that has access to the layer two environment can claim any IP address if the proper security measures are not taken. ARP spoofing or ARP poisoning occurs when an attacker s computer forges its credentials to allow the host to believe that it is the intended recipient. If the attackers computer forwards all of the data that is to be sent to the intended host it is very likely that the man in the middle would go undetected. At any time the attacker can make changes to the data that is forwarded, copy and use the data, or flood the network with erroneous packets that cause data collisions and effectively bring network traffic to a halt. The process of wardriving is a new threat that has surfaced with the popularity of 802.11 style wireless connections. Poor security with these devices allows an attacker virtually unrestricted access to the data link layer and beyond. It is not very difficult to walk around various areas in a busy metropolitan area and pick up unsecured wireless signals and gain access to private networks where the owner has little idea of you presence. The third layer is the network layer. In the network layer data is routed through various physical networks while traveling to a known host. Information contained in the network layer allows routers to make decisions on how the data gets to its destination. Security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Inhumanity In Night Elie Wiesel From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. The look in his eyes gazed at me and never left. (Wiesel 115). Since the inmates were treated horribly for such a tremendous amount of time, it left images of the beatings they took, the never ending work they had to do, and the killing of their friends in their head. Two main points proven in Night by Elie Wiesel is how he created stronger bonds with people and how he lost faith in someone he use to praise and pray to every day. When going through a rough period of time, people may lose hope in their faith or religion. To start with, when the summer was wrapping up, Elie sees people praying and states, Why, but why would I bless him? Every fiber in me rebelled. Because he caused ... Although it can sometimes be an every man for himself situation in the camps, an inmate saves Elie and his father when he says, The man interrogating me was an inmate. I could not see his face, but his voice was weary and warm. He asked my age. Fifteen No, you re eighteen But I m not I said. I m fifteen Fool, listen to what I tell you... (Wiesel 30). Certainly this may have come off as being rude, but this was a major help to Elie and his father. If they were to actually give up and tell their real jobs, this could have put them in the crematorium. The Nazis were looking for healthy, strong, and fit people. Since Ellie was young and his father was old at the time, they probably wouldn t have met the Nazis requirements. Likewise, another moment of hope was when Ellie shared his soup with his sick father and states Did you eat? No. They wouldn t give us anything... I gave him what was left of my soup. (Wiesel 107). Even though Elie is hungry too, he still managed to give up half of his soup. His father is on the verge of death and people are telling him to stop caring for his father, but he still continues to share his meals with him. Provided that, Elie has created a much bigger connection with his father rather than just the father and son role. Eagle Project Accomplishments The completion of the final project required for the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts is what I would consider the most important point of maturity for me personally, and my biggest accomplishment to date. The project is included to test the leadership skills of those completing it, as well as their determination. The whole rank of Eagle is aimed towards showing determination, in fact, with requirements such as staying in an active leadership position for multiple months or the need for a certain number of specific merit badges. These are gained over time and for most who get this far the Eagle Project is one of their last goals yet to be achieved. • 9. Confucius Curry and a Mountain Dew As Americans, we ridicule others based on their selection of clothing. We are snobby because of how much money we make or what we hold as an occupation. We chew with our mouths full of macaroni and curse when the soda machine is out of Pepsi. We could use some manners, or maybe just a reintroduction. Confucius thought is constructed on kindness and propriety, as well as holding the morally virtuous to be the ideal person. This philosophy exceedingly expresses value in benevolence, education, and the treatment of other people, but has hidden innuendos that would knock the petals off any flower child. If the notion of banning those comedians was a new law, I would probably cry myself to sleep every night. Amending the Amendments Currently, the United States ranks first in number of prisoners. That is kind of depressing, isn t it? We like our jails full and our streets empty (empty of crime, of course). What is found in the emotional bluster of those prisoners hearts is the complete opposite of what the Confucianism concepts are: Jen (benevolence) and Li (prosperity). Jen can be understood as the good hearten nature in human beings, and Li is the guide that is followed to ensure that the practice of Jen is appropriate. With the acceptance and performance of these concepts, all is well in the state. Li has a basis on five relationships: Sovereign to subject, parent to child, elder to younger brother, husband to wife, friend to friend. Should everyone fulfill their respective position in those relationships, all is well in the state. There is no much thought behind punishment because everyone is born into a moral atmosphere. If one does not know what greed is, do they even think about it? In this style of governing, to reign supreme does not entitle an advantageous power, but one who controls the order of the state to keep it in check. • 10. Descriptive Essay About Mission Inn Hugo Munoz Escalera Schachat English 1A 2 November 2017 The Mission Inn Walking the streets through Downtown Riverside, it s hard to miss the giant castle esque structure that takes up an entire city block. The Mission Inn s Spanish architecture and lush green variety of trees and bushes can be seen from a mile away. Taking an aerial view of Downtown Riverside allows one to see what sets this entire city block apart. The tops of every building that make up the Inn are colored a foreign maroon red which greatly contrast with the rest of the city s boring gray rooftops. The structure makes a giant upside down horseshoe shape which is centered around a gorgeous sparkling pool, which itself is surrounded by a ring of greenery that encompasses the entire center of the U shape. Behind the U are several wings that make up the rest of the Inn, which include rooms for guests to stay in and all of the other commodities that the hotel has for visitors, such as a museum filled with artwork and artifacts, and several different dining options. Before entering the ancient luxurious Spanish castle through the main entrance, one walks through walkways filled with rich shrubbery and plants that line the wall and the fence closest to the street. The entrance to the Inn lies behind the U shaped driveway where guests can have their exotic cars valet parked. Entering the Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside during the night time was a breathtaking experience. Sounds of crickets chirping and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Nordstrom vs. JCPenney Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom. Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large, and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender, race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich (2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99% and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class occupy a different social stratification than those who occupy the lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not the environment, which what we re a main ... • 14. Liquor Never Brewed In I taste a liquor never brewed Emily Dickinson expresses her passion and love for nature by talking about her intoxication of alcohol. The extended metaphor and use of sound reflects the speaker s attitude toward nature. With a decently constructed extended metaphor, Dickinson shows her love of nature. The open line brings something interest to the reader: a liquor never brewed (l.1). How can a liquor never have brewed be a liquor? This opening line hooks attention tightly by introducing a seemingly contradiction. The special liquor initiates the metaphor of nature, which is strengthened and clarified by inebriate of air (l.5) and Debauchee of Dew (l.6) in the second stanza. Dickinson connects features of drunkenness and nature in those two lines: the narrator is not getting drunk with alcohol, but with the admirable scenery in nature. The following line further explains the setting of the poem endless summer day (l.7). Also, in the first stanza, the speaker comments that the liquor never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second and fourth line in each stanza have end rhymes, such as door (l.10) and more (l.12), run (l.14) and sun (l.16). The order of rhymes can represent the order of nature; the disorder of other lines can represent the excitement after drinking alcohol and the speaker s copious love for nature. Moreover, the alliteration in the poems adds singsong quality: Debauchee... Dew (l.6), seraph... swing... snowy... saints (l.12 13). And through her word choice of informal words such as Debauchee (1.6) and Tippler (l.15), we can feel a light and bright tone in the poem. This compassion is often found in the Japanese society, as caring for others is an important task. Additionally, throughout each version of the story one object remains prevalent, which is Atsumori s flute. The image and sound of the flute is tranquil, perhaps going along with the notion that though Atsumori was a warrior, he also was a gentle person. Characterizing The Structure Of Composite Material Characterizing the structure of composite material in a fishing rod Muad Saleh Abstract This report introduces the dependence of the mechanical properties of a fishing rod made from glass reinforced epoxy on the orientation, morphology, and volume fraction of the fibers used in making the rod. This has been achieved by studying the surface of multiple cross sections of the fishing rod that are mounted on epoxy by using optical microscopes. Then through analyzing different cross section, the mechanical properties of the studied fishing rod have been linked to orientation, size, shape, and volume fraction of the fibers. The fiber phase is usually made from materials that are usually stronger and have a higher modulus of elasticity than that of the matrix, but they are often very brittle [2]. Therefore, the matrix phase is usually the source of the composites ductility, whereas the fiber is the source of its strength. Furthermore, composited have a wider range of properties than the other types of material; thus, they are used in more application. For instance, the material used in fishing poles should have a high tensile and compressive strengths, and a high modulus of elasticity, as that they are subject to high stresses, which they need to withstand without failing or going through much plastic deformation. Moreover, fishing poles have to be ductile and flexible, as that they should have the ability to bend. Such properties cannot often be achieved by using a single type of material; however, those properties can be found in different composites. According to Philips [3], fishing rods are commonly made of fibers glass or carbon embedded in a matrix of epoxy or lignin. Because of the unlimited number of matrix/ fiber combinations that can be used to form composites, and the great number of variables that can be controlled in composite materials, composites can attain a wide range of mechanical properties. For instance, the mechanical properties depend on the properties of both the matrix and the fiber phases; as that, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

[p88] It is evident that this debate will continue to grow in interest and relevance in a modern, global society and it is important to look at the underlying premise behind Mintzberg s conviction. Underlying premise Mintzberg s underlying assumption is that businesses must learn which opportunities are available in the current and future environments and to do this, strategy must be developed by managers at the operational level: built from occasional nuggets they uncover [p111] and not by senior managers and analysts in an ivory tower looking backwards at past data. Birger Wernerfelt, (1984) illustrates an organisation driven, resource based view of strategy in which firms can influence the environment in which they operate. Wernerfelt argues that firms must first understand their organisation and develop ways to shape their business surroundings accordingly. On the other side of this learning debate, Porter (1985) presents a positioning approach where the role of the strategist is to identify the external forces of the environment (Competitive forces Model: Porter, 1979) and find a unique and valuable position in which the firm can flourish. As is typical in organisational strategy, nothing is clear cut and indeed Mintzberg s article draws parallels with both Wernerfelt and Porter. If the level is above 7.45 it is then considered alkalosis. Respiratory acidosis is the slowing of ventilation from the lungs. Your body eliminates carbon dioxide from liquids through the lungs. If the level of carbon dioxide increases this will form with water and become carbonic acid. Carbonic acid forms hydrogen ions, which cause the pH levels to decrease. If these levels start to go below 7.35 it is respiratory acidosis related. Our kidneys help regulate the pH levels when the lungs can no longer help. The kidneys will help secrete hydrogen ions by urinating. When respiratory acidosis occurs the buildup of carbon dioxide is very fast and the kidneys cannot function fast enough to retain a balance. Respiratory acidosis is usually caused by respiratory failure. Some conditions that cause this are asthma, COPD, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and sleep apnea. • 33. Essay on Slave Ship The Slave Ship by Marcus Rediker is a great fiction novel that describes the horrifying experiences of Africans, seamen, and captains on their journey through the Middle Passage. For instance, Captain Tomba led many villagers in burning huts and killing neighbors who cooperated with slave traders (14). He was later captured and sent to the slave ship where he would be sold in the New World. The slaves also resisted by refusing to eat. Most of them decided they would rather have death than to live the lifestyle on the slave ships. The captains punished those who refused to eat by giving them lashes to the bare skin until they decided to eat. Olaudah Equiano could be considered one of the more fortunate Africans involved in the slave trade. Rediker uses Equiano to show how Africans were kidnapped and brought to the slave ship. Equiano was home alone with his sister when he was snatched by a neighboring enemy tribe. Tribes were kidnapping each other to sell to the slave traders for goods and even weapons. Equiano was separated from his sister and sold off to merchants before actually boarding the slave ship. He mentioned several times how he would rather die than be on the slave ship. He noticed right away that the slave ship was equipped with nettings to prevent precisely such desperate rebellion (109). Equiano went to the Americas and was left alone when none of the merchants purchased him. He was sold to a captain and boarded his ship back to England. On this slave ship, he was treated much better. He got to stay on the deck and eat better food than he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
