Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

Arizona Renewable Fuels, to be developed by Syn Tawa Energy, LLC, will be one of the first commercial scale
renewable energy refinery plants in the United States. Even more notable, this plant will be able to combine a
newly-patented, state-of-the-art, commercial-scale biomass wood gasifier with a highly efficient patented gas-
to-diesel conversion system. The output is a premium quality ASTM D975 diesel fuel that generates zero
emissions and no sulfur -- at a cost below petroleum-based diesel fuels. AZRF will efficiently convert green

Patrick Sweeney, Founder & CEO
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Sweeney has held leadership positions in sales, marketing, finance, business
development and operations for leading technology and finance companies ranging from IBM, the Meridian
Group, StorageTek Global Services, Xerox Global Services and Vice President of Research & Technology for a
non-profit national trade association. He is Six Sigma certified. Mr. Sweeney holds a Bachelor’s of Science
and Commerce degree in Marketing from Santa Clara University. After graduation, he served our country as
an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Jack Gilmore, Co-Founder, Director of Project Development
The majority of Mr. Gilmore’s professional experience has dealt with developer-oriented land planning and
landscape architectural design services. Projects range from large master planned communities and golf
courses to mixed use commercial, office, and industrial parks. As a registered Landscape Architect he has
dealt with the design and preparation of construction documents for projects ranging from desert restoration
to large campus landscapes and community parks.

James Leahy, Gas to Liquids (GTL) Project Advisor
Mr. Leahy has extensive experience in process development, project management, and process plant
technical support in the petrochemical and synthetic fuels industries. He received his Bachelor of Science in
Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1969 and Master of Science in Chemical
Engineering from University of Houston in 1973. Mr. Leahy joined Shell Chemical Company in 1969 as a
process engineer. From 1974 to 1975 he worked as a process engineer for M.W. Kellogg Company. Mr. Leahy
joined ARCO Chemical Company and served as Chief Process Engineer from 1976 to 1989, Engineering &
Construction Manager from 1990 to 1997 and Project Manager from 1997 to 1999. From 2000 to 2007, he
was Director, Special Projects at Syntroleum Corporation where he developed gas-to-liquids and coal-to-
liquids processes. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Leahy was Engineering Manager for Australian American Energy
Company and managed various coal-to-liquids studies and projects. He is the holder of six patents in the field
of synfuels.

Dr. Robert Freeks, Fischer-Tropsch (FT) Synthetic Fuels Development Project Advisor
Dr. Freerks has over 25 years of experience in the formulation and development of FT synthetic fuels,
synthetic lubricants, oil-based lubricants, oil and fuel additive packages and biofuels. From 1999 through
2006, Dr. Freerks was the Director of Product Development at Syntroleum Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
While at this position, he developed synthetic jet fuel produced via the FT synthesis and hydroprocessing
technology. He worked closely with the Department of Defense to qualify the fuel for military aircraft and
equipment under the JBUFF program (Joint Battlespace Use Fuel of the Future). While at his previous
position, Dr. Freerks also conducted an extensive testing and development program under a Department of
Energy contract. This program successfully demonstrated FT synthetic fuels performance in Diesel engines
run under laboratory and field conditions. Additionally, from 1981 until 1999, Dr. Freerks was employed by
Chevron Research and Technology Company where he developed and formulated several lines of heavy duty
diesel products, base oils, additive packages and synthetic lubricants.
