Survey Responses
All people who replied to my survey were in
the 16-18 age category, which means that when
creating our video we have to bear this in mind
and think about what appeals to this age
category. However, this should not be too hard
as we are part of this age group, meaning we
understand the interests and preferences.
The majority of the people who answered this
survey were female, this shouldn’t make too
much of a difference, as it was only slightly over
half, around 63% were female, and the
remaining were male. Flyleaf is a band that has
fans of both genders.
By far the most popular choice was storyline, with
almost 73% of the people involved picking it. This is
good for us, because when initially brainstorming
ideas we thought of doing a storyline based video.
The second most popular was the idea of a
performance video, so we could also incorporate
some elements of a performance in our video.
The most popular answer was the idea of a video in
an industrial or urban area. When we initially wrote
down ideas we thought of shooting our video in a
graveyard or forest, because of our song choice.
These two options were also popular, with 63% of
people choosing graveyard and 45% choosing the
forest option. We may try and incorporate all three
of these choices into our music video, so as to add
diversity and variety to shots.
From al the replies, some of the most frequent
comments were that the clothing should be black
or very dark, with perhaps distressed and ripped
clothing. There were also some comments on the
inclusion of leather jackets and/or boots, and the
idea of band merch being shown in the video.
The most popular choice from this question was
the idea of a collaboration between Flyleaf and
Paramore, which is good because we looked
closely at some of Paramores videos and decided
that the themes of some of their videos,
specifically ‘Brick by Boing Brick’, would be
interesting to try and combine with Flyleafs sound
and song.
We thought of creating a fairy-tale themed video,
hence the reason for asking this question.
Obviously the most popular fairy-tale was Alice in
Wonderland, which works out great for us because
this was the fairy-tale that we thought would be
the most interesting to so, due to the many
confusing and imaginative elements that we could
take from the book and/or films and incorporate
into our music video.
There are a lot of different answers to this question,
but one of the most common words that I can pick
out from all of the comments is ‘Bright’. One person
follows up with saying it should be oversaturated,
this is an idea that we considered. We will most
likely have our video be brightly lit.

Survey responses

  • 2. All people who replied to my survey were in the 16-18 age category, which means that when creating our video we have to bear this in mind and think about what appeals to this age category. However, this should not be too hard as we are part of this age group, meaning we understand the interests and preferences.
  • 3. The majority of the people who answered this survey were female, this shouldn’t make too much of a difference, as it was only slightly over half, around 63% were female, and the remaining were male. Flyleaf is a band that has fans of both genders.
  • 4. By far the most popular choice was storyline, with almost 73% of the people involved picking it. This is good for us, because when initially brainstorming ideas we thought of doing a storyline based video. The second most popular was the idea of a performance video, so we could also incorporate some elements of a performance in our video.
  • 5. The most popular answer was the idea of a video in an industrial or urban area. When we initially wrote down ideas we thought of shooting our video in a graveyard or forest, because of our song choice. These two options were also popular, with 63% of people choosing graveyard and 45% choosing the forest option. We may try and incorporate all three of these choices into our music video, so as to add diversity and variety to shots.
  • 6. From al the replies, some of the most frequent comments were that the clothing should be black or very dark, with perhaps distressed and ripped clothing. There were also some comments on the inclusion of leather jackets and/or boots, and the idea of band merch being shown in the video.
  • 7. The most popular choice from this question was the idea of a collaboration between Flyleaf and Paramore, which is good because we looked closely at some of Paramores videos and decided that the themes of some of their videos, specifically ‘Brick by Boing Brick’, would be interesting to try and combine with Flyleafs sound and song.
  • 8. We thought of creating a fairy-tale themed video, hence the reason for asking this question. Obviously the most popular fairy-tale was Alice in Wonderland, which works out great for us because this was the fairy-tale that we thought would be the most interesting to so, due to the many confusing and imaginative elements that we could take from the book and/or films and incorporate into our music video.
  • 9. There are a lot of different answers to this question, but one of the most common words that I can pick out from all of the comments is ‘Bright’. One person follows up with saying it should be oversaturated, this is an idea that we considered. We will most likely have our video be brightly lit.
