Mechanical surface enhancement (MSE) techniques have been used to modify the surface reliability properties
of many materials by generating ultrafine or even nanometer-sized grains in the surface and subsurface region. These fine
grained materials created by mechanical surface enhancement techniques usually have higher hardness and frequently exhibit enhanced mechanical properties. Turn-assisted deep cold rolling (TADCR) process is used to improve the surface integrity of AISI 4140 steel which is commonly used in automobile industry.
EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION AND MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION OF A356 BASED COMPO...sathish sak
Recently friction stir processing (FSP) has emerged as an effective tool for enhancing sheet metal properties through microstructure modification. Significant grain refinement and homogenization can be achieved in a single FSP pass leading to improved formability, especially at elevated temperatures.
FSP is a solid-state process where the material within the processed zone undergoes intense plastic deformation resulting in dynamically recrystallized grain structure.
Most of the research conducted on FSP focuses on aluminum alloys. Despite the potential weight reduction that can be achieved using Titanium dioxide(B4C) alloys.
In this work, we examine the possibility of using FSP to modify the microstructure and properties of commercial A356-B4C alloy particles. The effect of various process parameters on thermal histories, resulting microstructure and properties to be investigated.

Abstract: Casting is one of the oldest and mostly used production processes in industry. The traditional casting has certain disadvantages like poor strength due to hot tears, shrinkage and poor surface finish. The property of casting process mostly depends on the microstructure after solidification. Providing Mould vibration during casting is one of the latest techniques employed in order to get better structure in the solidified casting. Mould vibration during casting gives reduced amount of shrinkage, better morphology, surface finish, and less chances of hot tear. In this research work, the effect of mould vibration during solidification of Aluminum 356alloys for different values of wavelengths at a fixed pouring temperature investigated to understand the modification in microstructure and mechanical properties of casting. The Al356 casting has been prepared in a graphite mould with and without vibrations. The frequencies are varied from 0 Hz to 20 Hz during the casting process. A casting has been made without vibration as well to compare the results of castings with vibration. The experimental results showed significant grain refinement and remarkably improvement in compression strength and hardness of castings with mechanical mould vibration during solidification. Experimental Investigations on Tribiological Properties of 6061-T6 Al Alloy b...IJAEMSJORNAL
Microstructure and tribological properties of Al-TiB2 nano surface composite fabricated by Friction Stir Processing (FSP) were evaluated. To vary the percentage of TiB2 three different slot thickness viz. 1mm, 1.5 mm and 2mm were considered. Microstructural evaluations showed a nearly uniform distribution of TiB2 in the aluminium matrix after FSP with the addition of composite powder. Microhardness test results shoes FSW of Al6061-T6 alloy with 2mm groove width has more hardness. tribological properties were evaluated at two different sliding velocities 0.314m/s and 0.48m/s and results shows that at lower loads there is no much difference in wear rate of surface composite made with different slot sizes but with increase in load and sliding velocity wear rate was increased , however, larger slot Al6061-TiB2 Surface composites show better wear resistance.

In this study, an attempt is made to synthesize the composites of AA6063 and tungsten carbide particles with 5 µm particle size were added reinforcement. The tool shoulder is varied from 16 mm to 20 mm. The other parameters such as tool rotational speed of 1400 rpm and transverse speed of 50 mm/min are kept constant. The friction stir processing tool is made of high chromium high carbon steel with a pin length of 4 mm and pin diameter of 6 mm is used. The 18 mm shoulder diameter produces much finer grain size with tungsten carbide reinforced particles rather than the tools having shoulder 16 mm and 20 mm diameter. The maximum tensile strength and micro hardness achieved is 260 N/mm2 and 135 Hv respectively. In case of the tool having 16 mm diameter produces less amount of heat due to lesser contact with the workpiece material and the tool having 20 mm diameter, over heat the workpiece material due to more contact area with the workpiece and causes no proper plastization and flow of the material within the processed zone by friction stir processing and produces courser grain size.

Experiments were conducted in the lathe dynamometer by using carbide insert at various parameters such as cutting speed, feed and depth of cut. The effect of machining parameters, e.g. cutting speed and depth of cut on the Power consumption & Force investigated during experimentation
Friction stir processing is a technique for improving the characteristics of metals by causing local, severe plastic deformation. This deformation is achieved by forcing a non-consumable tool into the workpiece and rotating it in a stirring action while being pushed laterally through it. The primary goal of this experiment is to investigate Friction Stir processing parameters, surface composite production using friction stirs, and material mechanical characteristics. The various ceramic particles, such as SiC and Al2O3, were used as reinforcement particles. The parameter for this experiment is considered as the traveling speed, tool rotation speed, and tilt angles.
DRY TURNING OF AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL (316L) USING CVD COATED TOOLAM Publications
Austenitic Stainless steel (316L) is a low carbon high chromium containing high alloy steel, it has a good number of application because of its high strength, high ductility and corrosion resistance. It is used in jet engine parts, heat exchanger application and pharmaceutical application. It is compatible in cryogenic temperature to red hot temperature. The paper presents an experimental investigation on different parameters which affect the cutting process and also cause significant effect on the chip formation in machining of Austenitic Stainless steel (316L). In this study, experiments were conducted on Austenitic Stainless steel (316L) at different cutting speed, feed and depth of cut and the effect of different influential parameters on the process of chip formation has been studied subsequently. Quality characteristic of machined item is depending much on material behaviour during machining. Present experimental analysis on machining has been performed by implementing Von Mises stress evaluation employing true stress-true strain behaviour of the materials under consideration. Experimental true stress-true strain plot was required to find out the strength coefficient and strain hardening exponent of the material and using the same, Von Mises stress was estimated by using material property consideration. Experimental study on machining was performed on austenitic stainless steel (316L) to know the trend of variation of chip thickness, shear angle, Von Mises stress and total work done with respect to cutting velocity. From the study it showed that austenitic stainless steel gets work hardened at higher cutting speed. Therefore this type of material can be machined at lower cutting speed only.

Therefore the compan y has given opportunity to me to solve this problem . In case of steel casting there are mainly cracks & also blo w holes induced due to the casting procedure. There are many factors for the casting defects .The factor is unev en material feeding in casting & also due to the mo uld material & also the core material. These cracks finally brea k directly the component of the casting i.e. in cas e of pump the casting component is like Impeller,Volute casing & casing cover. At the time of feeding of steel material in to the casting the material is in liquid us form i.e. it i s hot material & this material is feeding into casting at the time o f feeding it develop different region of heat. At o ne side the temp is high &at other side the temp is low this also pr oduce cracks. To simulate that casting we use the M AGMA SOFTWARE for simulation & validate it using NDT.

EFFECT OF SILICON OXIDE (SIO2) REINFORCED PARTICLES ON AGEING BEHAVIOR OF Al-...IAEME Publication
Al-2024 alloy can be reinforced with different percentages of Silicon oxide particles using a stir casting method. The solution treatment of the composite sample and the unreinforced alloy was carried out at 550 ᴼC for 2h followed by aging at 150 ᴼC for various aging times between 1h and 5 hrs. The existence of SiO2 particles led to increasing the peak hardness of the alloy. The results revealed that peak hardness of the composite sample took place at shorter times than that of the unreinforced alloy for the samples solution treated for 2 h for both the composite and the unreinforced alloy that led to the fastest aging kinetics and the maximum hardness.

The trans-community is gradually being observed in a new light and has been trying to achieve prospective growth in entrepreneurship. The findings of the research revealed that the optimistic changes are taking place to change affirmative societal outlook of the transgender for entrepreneurial ventureship. It also laid emphasis on other transgenders to renovate their traditional living. The paper also highlights that legislators, supervisory body should endorse an impartial canons and reforms in Tamil Nadu Transgender Welfare Board Association.
BROAD UNEXPOSED SKILLS OF TRANSGENDER ENTREPRENEURSIAEME Publication
Since ages gender difference is always a debatable theme whether caused by nature, evolution or environment. The birth of a transgender is dreadful not only for the child but also for their parents. The pain of living in the wrong physique and treated as second class victimized citizen is outrageous and fully harboured with vicious baseless negative scruples. For so long, social exclusion had perpetuated inequality and deprivation experiencing ingrained malign stigma and besieged victims of crime or violence across their life spans. They are pushed into the murky way of life with a source of eternal disgust, bereft sexual potency and perennial fear. Although they are highly visible but very little is known about them. The common public needs to comprehend the ravaged arrogance on these insensitive souls and assist in integrating them into the mainstream by offering equal opportunity, treat with humanity and respect their dignity. Entrepreneurship in the current age is endorsing the gender fairness movement. Unstable careers and economic inadequacy had inclined one of the gender variant people called Transgender to become entrepreneurs. These tiny budding entrepreneurs resulted in economic transition by means of employment, free from the clutches of stereotype jobs, raised standard of living and handful of financial empowerment. Besides all these inhibitions, they were able to witness a platform for skill set development that ignited them to enter into entrepreneurial domain. This paper epitomizes skill sets involved in trans-entrepreneurs of Thoothukudi Municipal Corporation of Tamil Nadu State and is a groundbreaking determination to sightsee various skills incorporated and the impact on entrepreneurship.

Living in 21st century in itself reminds all of us the necessity of police and its administration. As more and more we are entering into the modern society and culture, the more we require the services of the so called ‘Khaki Worthy’ men i.e., the police personnel. Whether we talk of Indian police or the other nation’s police, they all have the same recognition as they have in India. But as already mentioned, their services and requirements are different after the like 26th November, 2008 incidents, where they without saving their own lives has sacrificed themselves without any hitch and without caring about their respective family members and wards. In other words, they are like our heroes and mentors who can guide us from the darkness of fear, militancy, corruption and other dark sides of life and so on. Now the question arises, if Gandhi would have been alive today, what would have been his reaction/opinion to the police and its functioning? Would he have some thing different in his mind now what he had been in his mind before the partition or would he be going to start some Satyagraha in the form of some improvement in the functioning of the police administration? Really these questions or rather night mares can come to any one’s mind, when there is too much confusion is prevailing in our minds, when there is too much corruption in the society and when the polices working is also in the questioning because of one or the other case throughout the India. It is matter of great concern that we have to thing over our administration and our practical approach because the police personals are also like us, they are part and parcel of our society and among one of us, so why we all are pin pointing towards them.

ATTRITION IN THE IT INDUSTRY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: LINKING EMOTIONAL INTE...IAEME Publication
Globally, Millions of dollars were spent by the organizations for employing skilled Information Technology (IT) professionals. It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. The organization’s employment tactics were forced to alter by globalization along with technological innovations as they consistently diminish to remain lean, outsource to concentrate on core competencies along with restructuring/reallocate personnel to gather efficiency. As other jobs, organizations or professions have become reasonably more appropriate in a shifting employment landscape, the above alterations trigger both involuntary as well as voluntary turnover. The employee view on jobs is also afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic along with the employee-driven labour market. So, having effective strategies is necessary to tackle the withdrawal rate of employees. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. Only 303 respondents were collected out of 350 participants to whom questionnaires were distributed. From the employees of IT organizations located in Bangalore (India), the data were congregated. ROLE OF SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF INDIA - PROBLEMS AND ...IAEME Publication
The majority of the population in India lives in villages. The village is the back bone of the country. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Developing the rural economy is one of the key indicators towards a country’s success. Whether it be the need to look after the welfare of the farmers or invest in rural infrastructure, Governments have to ensure that rural development isn’t compromised. The economic development of our country largely depends on the progress of rural areas and the standard of living of rural masses. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

various types made of various materials, make the deep cold rolling process more attractive in comparison with other
mechanical surface enhancement techniques.
The literature review shows that earlier investigations on deep cold rolling process are dealing primarily with
microstructure, residual stress and fatigue life of specific materials like aluminium and titanium alloys. Many researchers
have studied experimentally this process with regard to the effect of ball diameter, rolling force, feed and lubricant [5-7].
In these studies, unique and specialized deep cold rolling set-ups are used and the analysis of resulting surface roughness
and surface hardness are less focused upon.
A. Tolga Bozdana et al. [7] developed a new mechanical surface enhancement technique utilizing ultrasonic
vibrations. They discussed surface roughness, surface micro hardness and compressive residual stresses obtained after
treatments of Ti-6Al-4V specimens. P. Juijerm et al. [8] performed the experiment to study the effects of deep rolling on
the fatigue characteristics of AA5083 in the temperature range of 20-3000
C. Residual stresses and work hardening effects
near the surface of the deep rolled condition before and after fatigue tests were investigated by X-ray diffraction methods.
P. Juijerm and I. Altenberger [9] studied the effect of high temperature deep rolling on cyclic deformation behaviour of
solution heat treated Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy. Near surface properties like compressive residual stresses, work hardening and
hardness were presented in this paper. N. Tsuji et al. [10] investigated the effect of deep rolling on fatigue strength and
wear resistance of plasma carburized Ti-6Al-4V specimens. They reported that the fatigue properties and wear resistance
of Ti-6Al-4V alloy modified by a combination of low temperature plasma carburizing and deep rolling were significantly
improved in comparison with those of the unmodified Ti-6Al-4V alloy. C. M. Gill et al. [11] measured the shakedown of
the compressive residual stresses produced by deep cold rolling caused by low cycle fatigue of the titanium alloys Ti-
6Al-4V and IMI679 at room temperature and elevated temperature. G. H. Magzoobi [12] studied the effects of deep
rolling and shot peening on fretting fatigue resistance of Aluminium 7075-T6. The results showed that fretting fatigue
reduced the normal fatigue life.
The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of deep cold rolling process on the surface integrity
changes (roughness, hardness, microstructure and residual compressive stress) of AISI 4140 steel. A further aim of this
study is to establish relationships among deep cold rolling conditions and surface integrity properties of this AISI 4140
steel.

4.84µm in the turned sample, the surface roughness of the turn-assisted deep cold rolled sample was 0.242µm. Such
smoother surfaces associated with turn-assisted deep cold rolling can lead to significant improvements in resistance to
fatigue crack initiation and hence contribute to the beneficial effect that this surface treatment can have in prolonging
fatigue lifetimes.

3.2 MICROHARDNESS
Hardness profiles, taken perpendicular to the surface of the as-turned and turn-assisted deep cold rolled
microstructures, revealed the existence of a work hardened layer in the surface treated samples. Table 3 shows the micro-
hardness values measured on as-turned and turn-assisted deep cold rolled surfaces. The subsurface microhardness
obtained at different depths of the sample is plotted in Figure 4. The nature of plot obtained for both 250 N and 750 N
force are similar with higher hardness at the surface and progressively decreases due to the differential amount of cold
work experienced by the material. The average microhardness of the as turned specimen on the surface is about 225 HV.
Highest hardness of about 306 HV is recorded on surface for TADCR with a force of 750 N and the hardness is found to
decrease with depth from the surface and eventually settle at hardness of turned sample at a depth of about 300 µm. From
the same figure it could be observed that, surface microhardness settles at depth of 175 µm and 100 µm for TADCR with
500 N and 250 N force respectively. Based on the well-known Hall-Petch relationship between yield stress and grain size
as well as the close interrelations among hardness, yield stress and residual stresses, high hardness values often indicate
fine grain size and large residual stresses. It is reasonable to state that the variations in microhardness were likely due to
the different residual stresses being generated during processing.

3.3 MICROSTRUCTURE
Microstructure analysis under as-turned and turned assisted with deep cold rolled surfaces was carried out after
polishing and etching (97% water + 3% nitric acid) using optical microscopy. The initial microstructure prior to deep
cold rolling is shown in Fig. 5(a). A representative microstructure beneath the turn-assisted with deep cold rolled surface
is presented in Fig. 5(b), where grain deformations along the rolling direction can be noted. As the depth from the surface
increases, the amount of ultrafine grain decreases. Since the strain induced by deep cold rolling decreases with distance
from the surface to the bulk material, it is expected that the amount of ultrafine grains decreases with increasing depth.
As under the turn-assisted deep cold rolled surface the material is heavily strained, a darker area than the base material
could be seen for approximately 300µm from the top surface due to selective etching. This was in correlation with the
results from the microhardness measurements.

3.4 RESIDUAL COMPRESSIVE STRESS MEASUREMENT BY X-RAY DIFFRACTION (XRD) METHOD
To evaluate the magnitude of the residual stress states and the extent of work hardening induced in the near
surface layers by the mechanical surface treatments. X-ray diffraction measurements were performed on the as-turned
and turn-assisted deep cold rolled specimens. It is observed that turn-assisted deep cold rolling process introduced
significant levels of compressive residual stresses at the specimen surface and in the near surface regions. It is apparent
that after deep cold rolling, maximum compressive residual stresses as high as 569MPa was measured immediately
below the surface. Table 4 shows the results of residual compressive stress of turn-assisted deep cold rolled and as-turned
samples; the residual compressive stress of turn-assisted deep cold rolled samples was much larger than that of the turned
sample. It is reported that the peak broadening is contributed by decreasing grain size and increasing dislocation density,
which is consistent with the microstructure observations.

4. CONCLUSION
The AISI 4140 steel sample was turned and subsequently deep cold rolled. The effects of deep cold rolling on
the surface microstructure, surface roughness, micro-hardness and compressive residual stress of AISI 4140 steel were
examined and the following conclusions are obtained. Experimental results showed that the microstructure can be
significantly improved by increasing deep cold rolling force. Grain refinement in the surface region was achieved
through deep cold rolling process. Micro-hardness measurements indicated that the hardness was increased up to 36%
relative to the bulk value. Turn-assisted deep cold rolling result in significant alteration of the surface topography, led to
a decrease by more than 95% in the measured surface roughness. These physical effects lead to improvement of fatigue
strength of components as well as increase in resistance to corrosion and foreign objects. Turn-assisted deep cold rolling
can be done with any conventional or CNC machine tool without requiring expensive and complicated equipment.
