Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Action Horror
This genre is the type where the conventional
horror are combined with guns, fighting and a
lot of killing.
Thing that are usually involved in this genre
are zombies, werewolves, vampires with a lot
of gore.
Examples of this genre are Dawn of the
Dead, Resident Evil and Dog Soldiers.
3. Comedy Horror
This genre combines comedy and horror together.
Normally, the comedy over takes the Horror and it
becomes more funny than scary.
Examples of this genre are Shaun of the
Dead and the Scary Movies.
4. Gothic Horror
This genre mixes in some gothic elements
within the Horror genre. Most of the gothic
movies were all made in earlier years such as
the 1930’s. Nowadays they’re usually just re-makes
of the original.
These elements may include castles, dungeons
and the supernatural.
Some examples of these are
Dracula, Frankenstein and The
Mummy.
5. Psychological Horror
This is the genre that plays with the
audience’s fears and emotions to build up on
the tension of the movie and develop the plot
further.
This genre tends to be the scariest out of
them all because your senses are raised and
the tension continues to rise and rise until it
hits its climax.
Some examples of this
genre are The Shining
and The Ring
6. Slasher Horror
This genre has a lot of violence in based
around a serial killers, stalkers etc. attacking
the victim(s)
The killer usually uses a particular weapon to
kill their victims every time.
Slasher films tend to build up a lot of tension
also and sometimes overlap with the Crime
genre i.e., if the movie involves a police/FBI
investigation.
Some examples of this
genre are Psycho and
The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre.
7. Zombie Horror
This genre is pretty self-explanatory. A lot of
zombies that tend to feed off the living and
surviving humans try to kill them all.
Some examples of this genre are 28 Days
later and I am Legend
8. Natural Horror
This genre is again, pretty self
explanatory; Horror that happens
naturally.
This could be something like
animals or diseases.
This genre sometimes overlaps
with science fiction and action.
These tend to be pretty scary too
because the audience know that
this could happen in real life.
An example of this is Jaws.
