This document summarizes a study comparing the power flow and transmission capacity of multi-phase transmission lines to three-phase lines. The study developed several performance characteristic curves relating to power flow and voltage stability for multi-phase systems. These included load end real and reactive power operating contour maps, reactive power loss characteristics, and voltage-power characteristics. Across all characteristics analyzed, the study found that multi-phase transmission systems have higher power handling capacity and are more secure from a voltage stability perspective compared to equivalent three-phase systems. Specifically, increasing the number of phases from three to four or twelve phases resulted in 10-20% greater reactive and real power transfer capacity while maintaining voltage stability.
This document summarizes the results of a study on identifying the weakest branch in a radial distribution network with composite loads using distributed generation. The study tested the approach on a 33-node, 12.66 kV radial distribution system. The reactive loading index technique was used to identify the weakest branch for various levels of distributed generation placed at the optimal node. It was found that branch 5 was the weakest up to 30% distributed generation capacity, after which branch 27 became the weakest as the distributed generation level increased to 100% of the total load. The results provide guidance on how the weakest branch may change with different amounts of distributed generation on the network.

In recent years, studies have been investigated the effectiveness of UPFC and TCSC in increasing power transfer capability. However, the effectiveness of these FACTS devices in increasing power transfer capability when the load is non-linear has not been established in a comparative study yet. This paper will explore the steady-state performance of the UPFC and TCSC as impedance compensation models. The effectiveness of both FACTS devices are investigated when they are installed in multi-machine systems with different non-linear load models. Simulation results demonstrate that, upon installing UPFC, more active and reactive powers are received at the sending end bus for different types of non-linear load models. In addition, both active and reactive powers are more sensitive in changing the modulation index of the converters. Furthermore, both the active and reactive powers are less sensitive to the non-linearity of the load model type. However, active and reactive powers in case of installing TCSC are only sensitive in changing the firing angle (α) when it is between 90º to 110º. Therefore, results from this study clearly encourage the effectiveness of UPFC in comparison to TSCS in terms of increasing power transfer capability applied to non-linear load models.
Development of a Novel Three Phase Grid-Tied Multilevel Inverter TopologyIAES-IJPEDS
The conventional line-commutated ac-to-dc converters/ inverters have square-shaped line current. It contains higher-order harmonics which generates EMI and it causes more heating of the core of distribution or power transformers. PWM based inverters using MOSFET/IGBT have higher switching losses, and the power handling capability and reliability are quite low in comparison to thyristors/ SCR. A thyristor based forced commutated inverters are not suitable for PWM applications due to the problems of commutation circuits. A pure sinusoidal voltage output or waveform with low harmonic contents is most desirable for ac load using dc to ac conversion. This paper presents a new multilevel inverter topology in which three phase ac- to-dc converter circuits are used in inversion mode by controlling the switching angle. Due to natural commutation, no separate circuit is required for synchronization. In this paper simulation and analysis are done for grid-tied three-phase 6-pulse, Two three-phase, 3-pulse and 12-pulse converter. These converters are analysed for different battery voltage and different switching angle combinations in order to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD). Three-phase harmonic filters are further added to the grid side to reduce the harmonic content in the line current. A comparative study of these converters is also presented in this paper.

This paper presents an analytical comparison between two-level inverter and three-level neutral point diode clamped inverters for electric vehicle traction purposes. The main objective of the research is to declare the main differences in the performance of the two inverter schemes in terms of the switching and conduction losses over an entire domain of the modulation index and the phase angle distribution, steady-state operation, transient operation at a wide range of speed variation, and the total harmonic distortion THD% of the line voltage output waveform. It also declares the analysis of the three-level neutral point diode clamped inverter (NPCI) obstacle and the unbalance of the DC-link capacitor voltages. The introduced scheme presents an Induction Motor (IM) drive for electric vehicle (EV) applications. Considering the dynamic operation of the EV, the speed of the three-phase induction motor is controlled using a scalar V/Hz control for the full range of the IM power factor (PF). The new DSVM method allows control of the displacement angle between the input voltage and current of the matrix converter to maximize the input power factor. Two input power factor compensation algorithms using the new DSVM method are proposed. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed compensation algorithms in improving the input power factor under different load conditions. The document also provides background on the structure and operation of matrix converters, induction motors, and the issues caused by input filters in matrix converter systems that the new DSVM method aims to address.
This paper presents an analysis of virtual-flux direct power control (VFDPC) technique for the three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) ac-dc converter. The proposed VFDPC is developed by assuming the grid voltage and converter line filters quantities are related to a virtual three-phase ac motor. The controller works with less number of sensors by eliminating the voltage sensors used for measuring the three-phase grid voltage. The grid virtual flux which is proportional to the grid voltage will be estimated from the information of converter switching states, line current, and dc-link output voltage. Several analyses are performed in order to study the steady state and dynamic performance of the converter, particularly during the load and DC voltage output reference variations. The proportional integral (PI) controller at the outer voltage control loop of VFDPC is tuned properly and the entire PWM ac-dc converter system is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink to ensure the dc output voltage follow the desired output voltage under steady state and dynamic conditions. Ac-dc converter utilizing the proposed VFDPC is able to generate three-phase input current waveforms that are almost sinusoidal with low harmonics contents which is less than 5% and near unity power factor (pf) operation.

This document describes a novel multilevel inverter topology for renewable energy integration with the grid. The topology consists of multiple two-level inverters connected in parallel and fed by different renewable energy sources. This allows generating a multilevel output waveform with a large number of voltage levels while reducing the number of switches compared to other topologies. A six-level inverter is analyzed as an example, requiring only 12 switches to generate six voltage levels from two renewable sources. Modified approach for harmonic reduction in three-phase to seven-phase using ...IJECEIAES
Three phase supply is available in the generating station or grid, were as seven phase supply is required for many industrial applications such as, aerospace, railway and automobile applications. There are different methods in which we can convert 3 to 7 phase using 24-Pulse Converter, Carrier Based PWM Technique, multilevel converter and Multiphase Transformer. The above said methods which are more complicated to design for higher ratings or a pure sine wave will not be obtained or harmonics will be more. For Multiphase power transmission system multiphase transformers are needed. In the multiphase power transmission and multiphase rectifier systems, the number of phase can be designed and developed in multiples of three. Therefore, the variable speed multiphase drive system considered in the literature are mostly of five, seven, nine, eleven, twelve, and fifteen phase. So, there is a need to design and develop special transformer which converts from 3 to 7 phase for different arrangement of input and output. Thus, with the proposed technique, a pure seven-phase sine-wave of fixed voltage/current and frequency is obtained, which can be used for RL load and motor testing purposes. Complete design and simulation of the proposed solution is presented. Analytical calculation and simulation results for RL load is presented in the paper. This model can be simulated by using Orcad simulation software and “SimPowerSystem” block sets of MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

Wavelet modulation technique is used for three-phase six leg AC-DC converter due to its benefits of high DC component and lower harmonic contents. The proposed two-stage converter is developed and simulated in MATLAB Simulink environment. The contribution of this paper is on the implementation and performance analysis of Wavelet modulation in bidirectional AC-DC converters. The results show that Wavelet modulation is suitable to be implemented for the proposed bidirectional converter. The performance of the proposed converter delivers very low output voltage ripple and total harmonic distortion output current of less than 10% which is within the expected results.
In this paper, an experimental investigation of a three phase quasi Switched Boost Inverter (qSBI) topology is proposed and analysed with an improved Pulse Width Modulation strategy. The qSBI is capable of providing both boost and inversion actions in a single stage. The improved PWM control technique can provide a higher boost with the reduced duty ratio. The theoretical analysis presented in this work is validated using an experimental set up of 100W qSBI topology and hardware results are shown for verification. The improved PWM strategy is implemented and firing pulses are generated in FPGA SPARTAN 3E kit. With the duty ratio of 0.05, the peak ac load voltage of 80 V is obtained. The performance of three phase qSBI is analysed with both conventional PWM strategy and improved PWM strategy. The observations are presentated in detail.

A new control methods for offshore grid connected wind energy conversion syst...IAEME Publication
This document summarizes a new control method for an offshore wind energy conversion system using a doubly fed induction generator and Z-source inverter. Two control methods are proposed - capacitor voltage control and DC-link voltage control. Simulation results show that for capacitor voltage control, the rotor speed tracks the maximum power point, extracted mechanical power tracks maximum turbine power, and capacitor voltage is kept constant. The power delivered to the grid matches the extracted mechanical power. DC-link voltage control maintains a constant DC-link voltage while capacitor voltage and power outputs vary with shoot-through time. Capacitor voltage control regulates power transfer more effectively.
The two five-phase Induction Motor (IM) drive system that is serially connected is available in literature. The power supply of such system is considered as a matrix converter (a direct AC to AC converter system) by three and five-phases outputs. The main benefit from the drive topology is the sinusoidal source as a side current with a controllable input side power factor. The decoupled control is achieved similarly to the inverter based drive system. In this paper; the decoupled control of two five-phase induction machines serially connected and powered by a five-phase matrix converter as well as analytical and simulation results are presented.

conversion were implemented and taken into consideration in the last few
years. These inverter topologies have been demonstrated to ensure the
generation of high-quality voltage waveforms based on power half-conductor
switches, which operate on the fundamental frequency. The multilevel
inverter H-bridge is a promising alternative among the available multi-level
inverter topologies. A predictional current control algorithm for multi-level
converters and use on a three-phase cascaded inverter H-bridge. This article
reports on a comparison of two check methods associated with a shunt active
power filter based on the cascaded inverter of the three-Level type. The first
approach is the traditional PI control unit and the second is the predictive
current control unit. The reference current for the shunt active power filter is
provided by the p-q control strategy for reactive power compensation and
current harmonics. The cascade-type three-level inverter has more
advantages over a two-leaved inverter; the simulation output of APF is
checked by MATLAB/Simulink. The predictive controlled the APF
associated with the three-level inverter shows more performances and
efficiency compared to the conventional control algorithms.

The study made in this paper concerns the use of the voltage-oriented control (VOC) of three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifier with constant switching frequency. This control method, called voltage-oriented controlwith space vector modulation (VOC-SVM). The proposed control scheme has been founded on the transformation between stationary (α-β) and and synchronously rotating (d-q) coordinate system, it is based on two cascaded control loops so that a fast inner loop controls the grid current and an external loop DC-link voltage, while the DC-bus voltage is maintained at the desired level and ansured the unity power factor operation. So, the stable state performance and robustness against the load’s disturbance of PWM rectifiers are boths improved. The proposed scheme has been implemented and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The control system of the VOC-SVM strategy has been built based on dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board. The results obtained show the validity of the model and its control method. Compared with the conventional SPWM method, the VOC-SVM ensures high performance and fast transient response.

IRJET- Three-Phase to Seven-Phase Power Converter using PI Controller and Tra...IRJET Journal
This document proposes a technique to generate a seven-phase power supply from a standard three-phase supply using a special transformer connection. The transformer has three cores, with one primary winding and multiple secondary windings on each core. By connecting the secondary windings with different turn ratios, seven phases can be produced with the required 51.43 degree phase shift between each phase. A PI controller is also used to reduce noise and errors in the converted signal. The proposed transformer connection could enable applications like seven-phase power transmission systems, rectifiers, and electric motor testing by providing a pure sinusoidal seven-phase supply.

Simulation results show that the 7-level MLDCLI with modified reference PWM produces the highest fundamental output voltage with the lowest total harmonic distortion. The MLDCLI topology requires fewer switches and components than other multilevel inverter topologies as the number of voltage levels increases, making it advantageous for higher level designs.
The calculation of a Triangle Voltage Stability Index (TVSI) for monitored alternating-current circuits using voltage data from a PSSE load flow study. The analysis provides TVSI values for monitored transmission circuits in the Bulk Electric System under varying power transfers and contingencies.
TVSI provides an indication of the closeness of the load voltage to potential voltage collapse. To provide situational awareness to system operators, AEP proposes monitoring the phase angle across a low loss EHV overhead circuit operating in a system environment and comparing the angle to an established phase angle loci as a proxy for TVSI.
This monitoring could be independent of the line loading or the associated line impedance.
Power quality improvement using fuzzy logic controller based unified power fl...nooriasukmaningtyas
The power quality of the electrical system is an important issue for industrial, commercial, and housing uses. An increasing request for high quality electrical power and an increasing number of distorting loads had led to increase the consideration of power quality by customers and utilities. The development and use of flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTs) controllers in power transmission systems had led to many applications of these controllers. A unified power flow controller (UPFC) is one of the FACTs elements which is used to control both active and reactive power flow of the transmission line. This paper tried to improve power quality using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based UPFC, where it used to control both active and reactive power flow, decreas the total harmonic distortion (THD), correct power factor, regulate line voltage and enhance transient stability. A comparison study of the performance between the system with a conventional PID controller and FLC has been done. The theoretical analysis has been proved by implementing the system using MATLAB/SIMULINK package.

Living in 21st century in itself reminds all of us the necessity of police and its administration. As more and more we are entering into the modern society and culture, the more we require the services of the so called ‘Khaki Worthy’ men i.e., the police personnel. Whether we talk of Indian police or the other nation’s police, they all have the same recognition as they have in India. But as already mentioned, their services and requirements are different after the like 26th November, 2008 incidents, where they without saving their own lives has sacrificed themselves without any hitch and without caring about their respective family members and wards. In other words, they are like our heroes and mentors who can guide us from the darkness of fear, militancy, corruption and other dark sides of life and so on. Now the question arises, if Gandhi would have been alive today, what would have been his reaction/opinion to the police and its functioning? Would he have some thing different in his mind now what he had been in his mind before the partition or would he be going to start some Satyagraha in the form of some improvement in the functioning of the police administration? Really these questions or rather night mares can come to any one’s mind, when there is too much confusion is prevailing in our minds, when there is too much corruption in the society and when the polices working is also in the questioning because of one or the other case throughout the India. It is matter of great concern that we have to thing over our administration and our practical approach because the police personals are also like us, they are part and parcel of our society and among one of us, so why we all are pin pointing towards them.

ROLE OF SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF INDIA - PROBLEMS AND ...IAEME Publication
The majority of the population in India lives in villages. The village is the back bone of the country. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Developing the rural economy is one of the key indicators towards a country’s success. Whether it be the need to look after the welfare of the farmers or invest in rural infrastructure, Governments have to ensure that rural development isn’t compromised. The economic development of our country largely depends on the progress of rural areas and the standard of living of rural masses. Village or rural industries play an important role in the national economy, particularly in the rural development. Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
