Student Growth Objectives (SGOs) are long-term academic goals for measuring student growth in non-tested subjects. SGOs should be specific, measurable, ambitious, and achievable, and aligned to curriculum standards. Teachers work collaboratively with supervisors to create SGOs, which serve the dual purpose of measuring student academic growth and informing teacher evaluation. Teachers choose between a skill-based SGO using a pre-test or a performance-based SGO using prior grades. Data is collected and analyzed to tier students and determine a scoring plan to assess student growth on SGOs.
