Harry Potter Fire
This month s SSR book I read was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The author is J. K. Rowling.
The copyright date is 2000 and there are 734 pages in the book. J. K. Rowling is a British author who
is known for the Harry Potter series. Her first book was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone,
published in 1997. The second book, called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, was published in
1998. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third book, was published in 1999. The genre of
this novel is Fantasy. This book is different from other fantasy books because it compares the magical
world with the non magical, or Muggle, world. They also have mythical creatures that are only known
in the Harry Potter series, such as Blast Ended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was what caused Harry to mature and face Voldemort. The first quote I chose was The fire in the
goblet had just turned red again. Sparks were flying out of it. A long flame shot suddenly into the air,
and borne upon it was another piece of parchment... And then Dumbledore cleared his throat and read
out Harry Potter. I chose the first quote because that was what influenced the plot the most. It cause
Harry to join the Triwizard tournament and it cause Voldemort to resurrect. This quote also created a
mystery aspect during the book because you want to know who put his name in. The second quote is
...he was going to die upright like his father, and he was going to die trying to defend himself, even if
no defense was possible... I chose this quote because it showed Harry s bravery. He wasn t going to
hide from Voldemort, but would rather die trying. My favorite scene was after he came back from the
graveyard and they were questioning Barty Crouch Jr. Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall,
Dumbledore, and Winky the house elf all stood with Harry, listening to Barty Crouch as he reveals his
true identity. He is given Veritaserum, a truth potion. It was my favorite scene because all the
questions asked throughout the book are answered in this scene. All the mysteries are uncovered and it
starts to make sense. The thing

The Difference Between Scientific Theory And Common Sense
1. What is a scientific theory? Please cite a definition that you like.
Wikipedia defines Scientific theory, as often seeks to synthesize a body of evidence or observations of
phenomena. It s generally though by no means always a grander, testable statement about how nature
operates. I see scientific theory as having a great deal of support backing it to support and accepted it
as true.
1. What is the difference between a scientific theory and common sense ideas about the same topic
(for example, why a child seeks a bottle at birth)?
A scientific theory is more like a fact than a guess because it is supported. Common sense is a usual
understanding of practical matters, and common sense is vital for day to day life. The word common
sense is used in the sense of instinct. Common sense is vital to my ever day life, but science is not
vital to day to day life. I know I use common sense on a regular basis especially when I m driving, and
the light is turning yellow my common sense lets me know to stop because oncoming traffic is coming
and it s not safe to drive through the light. Also, I use common sense when crossing the street common
sense tells me to press the cross signal and wait for me to be told when to cross so that I don t get ran
over
Common sense understandings fit social expectation. There is a sense of the element in the common
sense understanding of social psychology. It is accepted widely and something that is shared amongst
the people of a common

Mathilde And Grandmother In The Necklace And The Neckless
the main characters Mathilde in The Necklace and the grandmother in A good man is hard to find are
very resembling the reasons why is because the both show a character of selfishness. They made a
mistake, but they refused to admit that. Both of them had the same kind of motivation to their previous
mistake, and also they had the same excuse as to why they keep quiet about their mistake. Even
though Mathilde and the grandmother punishments were not the same, but we still can compare them,
because no matter way the situation was dead or alive both of them were doing something that was
unacceptable.
Mathilde in the Neckless is a very vibrant young woman who was just got married she wanted to be
important and to have a lot of money compared with the grandmother in A Good Man is Hard to Find
The grandmother was already an old lady she was already important. Therefore, pride causes Mathilde
to suffer a lot the reasons why because she wants to better than anyone else, as for the grandmother
she suffers from pride because she thought she was better and more important than anybody. Another
different is that Mathilde started to know hard time when she lost the necklace, in the other hand the
grandmother was misinform between Georgia and Tennessee. In addition, Mathilde control her
husband who was dearly in love with her.
In contrast, the grandmother tried influence on her son, but doesn t wants to take her advice, therefore,
she attempted to influence the grandchildren.

Video Game Violence Arguments
Unless you ve been living under a rock you ve probably heard of all the terrible acts of violence in
today s world. You may have also have heard many news outlets and other media sites talk about how
violence in games is influencing people to perform these acts. Yes, violent games are blamed for many
of these acts, but there is a lack of evidence to support these claims along with proof of the opposite
effect. There have been many studies that have tried to prove otherwise, but in the end most of them
show little proof of an actual effect.
Most evidence that tries to prove that violent games cause someone to be violent has been debunked
by other researchers. For example, a study required 32 people to play games for 15 minutes and after

Aluminum Ware Mat Reinforced Polyester Composite
ABSTRACT
Aluminum ware mat reinforced Polyester Composite has been developed to find out an alternative
structural material. The physical and mechanical characteristics that are Tensile strength, Flexural
strength, Water absorption, Hardness etc. illustrate the competency of the developed composite. It is
found that Water Absorbency, Tensile strength, Flexural strength, hardness stiffness increase with
increasing of Metal Mat layer in the composite which is estimated maximum for the three Metal Mat
layered composite and minimum for the zero layered composite. Mechanical properties of the
composite increase with the increase of metal mat layer. All the properties suggest the use of the
composite as an unbeaten structural material but water uptake evades its outside use.
INTRODUCTION:
Metal reinforced Polyester composite has been increasingly drawn the attention of the researchers for
the last decades. Light weight along with high strength materials can replace traditional construction
materials used in building engineering, aeronautics, mechanical engineering and in many other
domains. It is related to a possibility of obtaining practically any combination of beneficial properties
of the material, e.g. high vibration damping coefficient, high abrasion resistance, high value of the
Young s modulus, low specific gravity and low coefficient of thermal expansion [1, 2, 3, 4] .
This project is concerned with metal mat reinforced polymer (MMP) composites where high

Significance Of The Zoot Suit
There are three iconic symbols of the presence of Mexican Americans in the history of the United
States: The role of Mexican Americans in the WWII, the Bracero movement, and the Zoot Suit Riot.
All three moments provide insight on the participation of Hispanics in the construction of the
American society and more importantly, on the way the Mexican American identity has been
constructed and on the ways this community has been considered, in general terms, a group of
domestic aliens. As a consequence, Mexican Americans have been segregated and denied equal
opportunity historically. However, they are here to stay, an Anglos better learn to deal with their
presence. WWII has been a defining event for everyone in the world. No individual ... Show more

This attire became a symbol of identity of Mexican Americans in the California area and those men
who wanted to contest the life conditions and the social and economic situation of their community.
Wearing the Zoot Suit became a symbol of identity that would later be criminalized. The soot suit
consisted of an oversized suit, a very long jacket and exaggerated pants; with very especial
characteristics. One of the most distinctive accessories was the watch chain hanging from the pants,
between the legs, a symbol of their manhood. The other significant element was the real leather soled
shoes. These two traits were especially shocking for those who did not accept the community: They
were symbols of a more open sexuality and a disregard for the rationing policy that reign in the
country. The zoot suit became a strong political symbol due to the Zoot Suit Riot and the Sleepy
Lagoon murder, two shocking events that derailed the relationships between Anglos and Mexican
Americans. The first one occurred on May 31st, 1943, when a group of youngsters dressed in zoot
suits were attacked by Anglo youths, many of them in Navy attire. The second one took place on
August 1st , 1942 when José Díaz was found death and the crime search focused on men in zoot

The Positive Impact Of The Reformation In The 16th Century
The Reformation during the 16th century was something that had always been thought of and what is
expected that had a positive impact on many people. Reformers that were in the medieval church like
St. Francis of Assisi, Valdes, Jan Hus, and John Wycliff had thought about the aspects of the church
and throughout life before 1517. During the 16th century, figures such as Erasmus of Rotterdam who
was the chief proponent of liberal Catholic reform, had an ongoing concern before Luther told his
Ninety Five Theses. From Martin Luther the aspect of the beginning of the section is very intriguing,
offering how the impact had caused a positive change: Luther having experienced this new conviction,
it is not surprising that the extravagant claims surrounding the sale of indulgences in 1517 provoked
him to the public. The form and text of that protest became known as the 95 Theses . ( Martin Luther
427). From his objection to the claim, the pope had then relieved the sins of Luther and the Catholic
church. The Reformation was a major change in the Catholic church due to the change of how people
bettered themselves. Luther was unhappy that the Catholic church offered an indulgence for pay, such
as, As for myself, let me say that I, too, am a doctor and a preacher yes, and as learned and
experienced as any of those who act so high and mighty ( Martin Luther 428). By following the
sacraments, many were able to better their relationship with Jesus. Shall we frivolously despise this
might, blessing, power, and fruit especially we who would be pastors and preachers? ( Martin Luther
429). Martin Luther is expressing with powers and questioning what one should do with pastors and
preachers and how one can better that problem to come up with a solution. The following quote sticks
out due to the fact that the quote is setting guidelines to how many should go about living their life,
Sixteenth Rule. In the same way, we must be on our guard that by talking much and with much
insistence of faith, without any distinction and explanation occasion be not given to the people to be
lazy and slothful in works, whether before faith is formed in charity or after ( Saint Ignatius of Loyola
446). One can about their life just

Driverless Car Advancement
Have you ever been extremely late for school or your occupations and wish you could just get ready in
the car? Automotive cars are planned to come out sometime in the near future of the year 2020. I
know this new technological advancement seems scary, but with the ways it will benefit us
remarkable. Self driving cars would impact our advanced society in many positive ways because the
streets would become less congested, the innovations for cars have worked before, and the amount of
deaths would be lessened. The driverless car would be a great innovation to have in your everyday life
because it will allow cities to not be as congested. Firstly, this technology will become increasingly
reliable and affordable, which will allow dense, urban locations to become more spread out in
population (Dashevsky). This demonstrates that when this innovation ... Show more content on

Firstly, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated 2,200 lives were saved due
to electronic stability from 2008 to 2010 (Villasenor). This demonstrates how technological
advancements might even be scary at the beginning and hard to get used to, that it will be worth it in
the long run. Next, advanced innovations are being tested, such as safely navigating through streets, to
prove that this technology is capable (Villasenor). Without people driving these cars, and computers
navigating through the streets instead, there will be less accidents as well as deaths. Finally, road
deaths have dropped from 53,000 in 1970 to 33,000 in 2014, which is even more impressive when you
hear that the population has doubled and the number of miles we drive per year has tripled
(Dashevsky). This demonstrates that innovations have been working for the past years, if the amount
of deaths per year have been decreasing. In summary, these technological advancements have
improved our lives greatly over the past

Taming Of The Shrew Irony
A comedy is a work thats intended purpose is to make an audience laugh. Not all comedies are created
equally though. Some comedies are better than others. This is based on the characteristics of a comedy
and how they are executed within the work. After reading and analyzing The Taming of the Shrew and
The Importance of Being Earnest as comedies, I have come to the conclusion that The Taming of the
Shrew is a better comedy. One of the typical characteristics of a comedy are puns. A pun is a
deliberate confusion of words or phrases for humorous effect. We can see puns all throughout Taming
of the Shrew. One example of this is when Grumio and Petruchio have a misunderstanding at
Hortensio s gate. The misunderstanding happens when Petruchio asks ... Show more content on

A satire exposes and criticizes foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society by using humor,
irony, exaggerating, or ridicule. The satire in the Taming of the Shrew occurs when Petrucio states I
come to wive wealthily in Padua; if wealthy, then happily in Padua. (Shakespeare 1.2.76 7). This
brings to attention the problem with the motivation for marriage in society back then. This same
problem is also brought to attention within The Importance of Being Earnest. This satire occurs when
Lady Bracknell expresses that A moment, Mr. Worthing. A hundred and thirty thousand pounds? And
in the Funds? Miss Cardew seems to me a most attractive young lady, now that I look at her. (Wilde
63). Both of these plays bring up the same problem with society. However, the Taming of the Shrew
brings more attention to the problem because there is more of an exaggeration. Baptista wants his
older daughter married off first but requires there to be love in the relationship. He then will allow his
younger daughter to marry the man with the most property and money. This is brings more attention to
the problem because of the irony that the girl he wants married off quickest has to be loved but his
second daughter has to marry someone with

George Washington And Jefferson s Influence On The...
There are very few people who wouldn t think about George Washington,John Adams and Thomas
Jefferson when someone mentions the Founding Fathers. Without a doubt we can say that they were
three very important men who greatly affected the independence of our country. Out of three,
Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and
free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is
impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best
for this county even though they had different views on many issues. Both grew up in Virginia, but
they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer
family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced
to the writings of Isaac Newton,John Locke, and Francis Bacon which later influenced his political
views. After Jefferson graduated from college he worked as a lawyer and later got into politics. Prior
to his presidency he had many government positions such as Member of Virginia House of
Burgesses,Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Virginia,Secretary of State, just to list a few.
He was well educated in many different fields. Because Jefferson had very good writing skills he was
asked to write the main draft of Declaration of Independence, but when he was done it was edited so

Lord Raglan s Influence On The Battle Of Balaclava
Not though the soldier knew, someone had blundered. Thiers not to make reply, thiers not to reason
why, thiers but to do and die. Lord Tennyson wrote the last sentence as part of a larger poetic tribute to
the courage of those who made a particular charge during the battle of Balaclava. This essay is to
address the Mission Command principles of Lord Raglan, and how as commander he influenced the
Battle of Balaclava. Lord Raglan s most notable impacts on the Battle of Balaclava was not building
subordinate commanders into a cohesive team, oversimplification of using mission orders, failure to
provide a clear commander s intent, and not creating a shared understanding. The Battle of Balaclava
itself was part of the Crimean War with the allied nations of Britain, France, and the Ottoman Empire
fighting the Russian Empire. The Battle of Balaclava took place on 25 October, 1854 and was part of a
larger operation to seize the Port of Sevastopol. Lord Raglan, who was born Fitzroy Sunrierset, was
the commander of all British forces, and General Liprandi commanded the Russian army. The battle
took place on the far, fight flank of the British, French, and Ottoman empire, who will hereafter be

this painting I see an intricate mandala at the top. This can symbolize many things; a higher power, a

Euro Disney marketers have recognized a trend. People are going to theme parks during the weekends
for adults as well as children entertainment. Indeed, there is an existing need for entertainment of this
kind. Therefore, an opportunity exists in the European market that Euro Disney could have taken
advantage of. However, the opportunity should have not been taken for granted . Other cultural factors
should have been analyzed to decide the positioning of Theme Park. Their prevalent mistake has been
the failure to recognize the cultural differences between Americans and French people. Locating the

negatively affects french citizens. The French peoples lifestyle deeply depends on the gratitude to their
traditional agriculture. Thus, the land takeover by an American Company mainly does not provide

In addition, the politicians negative publicity and the cultural leaders unfriendliness toward the Euro

some scientists, they re deadlier than cigarettes; to others they re (mostly) harmless. Will we ever

1996, Neil Whitfield, a sales manager from Wigan, was given his first mobile phone by his company.
It was introduced as a nice, cuddly friend. It had all of your mates contact details on it. It was always

Meanwhile, several countries are implementing or considering a total ban of Wi Fi in schools. So what
is the truth of the matter? Are mobiles really dangerous? There is no question that some of those
sounding the alarm belong to that subset of humanity who see conspiracies everywhere they look. But,
investigating the subject, it became clear to me that the arguments against phones are not all the
products of paranoid minds. Far from it. The fact is, considering how widespread phones are (more
than 5.3 billion mobiles are in use out of a global population of 7 billion) anything that proved they
were dangerous would be a highly inconvenient truth. Mobile phones is an issue we all bury our heads

any consideration for the long term effects, just like asbestos and smoking. The government rakes in

The new generation really doesn t want to know about any potential ill effects. Think of the tobacco

Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose in

diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is
reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen pieces, with
the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the picture as a whole, as well

to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of

difficult situation. They see only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently

being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all
the other habits are types of being proactive. This entails a realization that you are a person who

Examples Of Cultural Relativist
Introduction
This journal chosen is Cultural Relativist and Feminist Critiques of International Human Rights
Friends or Foes? By Oonagh Reitman (1997) discuss about the similarities between two critiques of
international human rights, Cultural Relativist and Feminist. The journal highlights comparing the
Cultural Relativist and Feminist of Human Rights. In further, we can see these critiques, the Cultural
Relativist and the Feminist have come to oppose each other world of women s international rights.
In the cultural relativist critique, the critique is made of the claim that human rights are universal, that
human rights are those held simply by virtue of being human and whose substance, form and
interpretation are not subject to variations in culture. But, in the cultural relativist reject this claim,
because cultural relativist claim that the source of human rights is culture, and since the ... Show more

Overall Themes In The Alchemist
In the Alchemist, the overall theme is to follow your dreams. This book gives you the overall feel that
in order to be successful one must follow their dreams. By reading this book, gives me high hopes and
positive energy about the future. I now know that we must dream to achieve our goals. Another theme
throughout the Alchemist is of fate, being at the right place at the right time. I think these two themes
go well together. They are interchangeable. Sometimes you need to be at the right place at the right
time to have your dreams met or make them come true. The first conflict in this book was when
Santiago had to overcome many obstacles on his way to Egypt. He was trying to reach his treasure.
There are four obstacles that will help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first obstacle is that we are told from our childhood that what we want is impossible. You got to
believe what you want Is possible juts like Santiago did. The second obstacle is love, Santiago loved
Fatima but didn t want to hurt her. The third obstacle is fear, Santiago feared failing and taking an
enormous leap of faith. The last obstacle is the fear of realizing our dreams people do not live and
pursue their dreams they don t achieve greatness in life. Everyone has their own personal legend just
like Santiago his dream was to find treasure in Egypt. Santiago has a personal legend on completing to
travel all the way to Egypt to find a treasure at the pyramids and setting along the way for they
treasure he s already earned. The main themes of the alchemist are searching for personal legends and
reading omens. Throughout the book, the boy learns to do both which makes him an alchemist in the
end. Also, the book stresses that everything happens for a reason. Every time the boy was hurt or
tricked, it was fate and it was supposed to happen. He realized this and looked into deeper and saw
what good could come out of it. The book teaches to pay attention everything that happens around
you, including in your dreams and visions. Then, as

An Organization For A Cyber Forensics Consultant
The CEO pointed out a notably vital concern to the organization that caused an international
cyberspace penetration. As she explained, CyberTech is an organization serving as a cyber forensics
consultant for our organization. They have the responsibility to examine our digital experiences
forensically and identify any problems and loopholes present in our systems in a bid to solve cyber
related concerns. Systems should be working at the expectations of all stakeholders, and CyberTech is
the contractors who should take the roles of advising and implementing on the best courses of actions

However, with cybercrime, they could be scapegoats and may be innocent. It s not clear which
company did the hacking. The company can either stand with the two stakeholders at the expense of
supposed virtues, or it can turn them in to be investigated further even though the information leading
to them is insufficient.
Effects of conflict of interest to the organization
This situation may seem totally unrelated but in a great way affects the case at hand. The decisions
made by CyberTech will in a way not be genuine due to the influence of the presence of the suspects
in another case with them. Let s take an example that the OPM breach suspects were found guilty in
the case which subsequently led to termination of their job and charging by the court. This would lead
them not being able to facilitate the other case they have with CyberTech. As a result, it would
suppress them financially or even if arrested they would not be able to represent themselves in order to
proceed with the other mentioned case. This is a conflict of interest which comes with lame outcomes
of a bad image to the organization. As well known, a bad image for an organization greatly affects
how it operates and hence how it relates to its customers. The basic factor that prospective clients look
upon before proposing to work with a certain organization is the image of the organization

History Is Memory
History can be defined in a number of ways. One could say history is a record of events that occurred
in the past, or another person could say that history is the knowledge and facts of the past. Carl Becker
s definition is perhaps the simplest and finest definition of history. Becker defines history as the
memory of things said and done (223). Memory is history, which is what history truly is and how it
should be looked at by mankind. As long as mankind has that memory, then that memory of the things
said and done will become history. For mankind to truly be able to define what history is, they must
understand the importance of preservation, interpretations, and periodization with the things said and
done.
If history is memory, and that memory is lost, then history can be lost forever. The Earth itself is
billions of years old and mankind has been around on the planet for only a few thousands of those
years. In her book, Marnie Hughes Warrington mentions a piece of work from R. G. Collingwood in
which he defines history as a science whose business is to study events not accessible to our
observation (35). Mankind has only been around for a small number of blinks of an eye, which means
that there is a significant amount of history that mankind still does not know about, and possibly may
never know. Aphrodite of Melos for example, is a famous and beautiful ancient Greek freestanding
statue from the Hellenistic Period. The arms of the statue are missing and mankind does

Essay On Guns Germs And Steel
Guns, Germs, and Steel Guns, Germs, and Steel were the reason the europeans were able to conquer
vast places. They were very geographically lucky which provided them with tons of food. They were
able to make inventions better and intended them for different uses. Their diseases followed them
where they went and were transferred to anyone they came into contact with. These 3 things were why
the europeans were able to conquer the world. Geographic luck was one of the reasons that the
europeans were able to create cities. Their location, which was a about 30 50 degrees latitude, allowed

made somewhere else. Anyone could have done what the europeans did but they just happened to to it
first. When europeans had gone to the south tip of Africa it was just like Europe. It was between 30 50
latitude and their crops could grow. They were not ready for the diseases that the Africans had. The
Africans have been exposed to these diseases for a long time to eventually they had built up
resistances to them. The Europeans were never exposed to these diseases so the farther north they
went the more diseases they encounter. They fell to diseases like malaria and small pox. Europeans
has their own resistances to diseases too but they were in Africa now and not Europe.
In the end, Guns, Germs, and Steel, allowed the Europeans to conquer new places. Geographic luck

Access Control Mechanisms Protect Sensitive Information...
Access control mechanisms protect sensitive information from unauthorized users. However, when
sensitive information is shared and a Privacy Protection Mechanism (PPM) is not in place, an
authorized user can still compromise the privacy of a person leading to identity disclosure. A PPM can
use suppression and generalization of relational data to anonymize and satisfy privacy requirements,
e.g., k anonymity and l diversity, against identity and attribute disclosure. However, privacy is
achieved at the cost of precision of authorized information., we propose an accuracy constrained
privacy preserving access control framework. The access control policies define selection predicates
available to roles while the privacy requirement is to satisfy the k anonymity or l diversity. An
additional constraint that needs to be satisfied by the PPM is the imprecision bound for each selection
predicate. The techniques for workload aware anonymization for selection predicates have been
discussed in the literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, the problem of satisfying the
accuracy constraints for multiple roles has not been studied before. In our formulation of the
aforementioned problem, we propose heuristics for anonymization algorithms and show empirically
that the proposed approach satisfies imprecision bounds for more permissions and has lower total
imprecision than the current state of the art. E. Bertino and R. Sandhu, [5] wrote Database Security

Octavia s mother used to read her bedtime stories until she was six years old. As soon as she got to

Octavia lived most of her life in Pasadena. All through Junior High and High School, even college,
Butler was a very shy person. She would not get up in front of class to do anything, her teacher s
thought this was because she didn t do the work and was unprepared. One time, she even went as far

Simon Bolivar On Government In Latin America Analysis
Simon Bolivar on Government in Latin America
When Simon Bolivar wrote about the unique circumstances of Latin independence, he was referring to
the independence movements and race revolts that occurred during the period he pushed to liberate
Venezuela and other surrounding areas (Germán, 2018). Most, if not all, areas in northern South
America that he liberated were overrun by revolts and uprisings that resulted in the death of countless
citizens, especially by the hands of the British and various gangs in adjacent communities (Germán,
2018). His argument is fair, and depicts the difficulties suffered by countless Latin Americans during
the late nineteenth century; however, understanding his argument takes an amount of foreknowledge
considering he included little facts to support his claim. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bolivar alludes to this in one of his direct quotes from the letter, We are still in a position lower than
slavery, and therefore it is more difficult for us to rise to the enjoyment of freedom... States are slaves
because of either the nature or the misuse of their constitutions (Duiker Spielvogel, Simon Bolivar on
Government in Latin America, 2015). Governing these areas would prove difficult, even in today s
standards, when each race and division was at the other s back; this made it increasingly difficult for
Bolivar to liberate these areas, regardless of his success (Duiker Spielvogel, Simon Bolivar on
Government in Latin America, 2015). Despite this, Bolivar foresaw a future for South America
regarding governmental intervention, understanding that there would never be a perfect government

A Very Brief Biography of Alexander the Great
Alexander the great s death was the cause of the fall of the Macedonian empire. Four of the reasons
that prove this are, Alexander s last words were to the strongest . He was an amazing leader. He knew
about military since he was young. Alexander had a great father to look up to. Alexander the great was
born in 356 B.C. His mother was Olympia s, and his father was Philip, although Olympia said to
Alexander that his real father was Zeus.
When Alexander was 13, the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle became his tutor 2 Alexander didn t
get to see much of his father. He saw little of his father, who as both king and general, was constantly
away on some military campaign. 6 When Alexander was 12, he impressed his father. At age 12
showed his equestrian skill to his father and all who were watching when he tamed Bucephalus,
unruly stallion horse, unable to be ridden and devouring flesh of all who had tried. 5 No one noticed
that the horse was afraid of its own shadow. When the horse was led onto the exercise field, Alexander
turned it around, so it faced the sun and its shadow fell behind. Then he jumped onto its huge back and
galloped across the field. King Philip was so proud of his son he burst into tears. (9) 1 Alexander the

The Global Collapse Of Fish Species
On November 3, 2006, the New York Times published a front page article titled, Study Sees Global
Collapse of Fish Species. Within the article, experts cited that if fishing around the world continues at
its present pace, more and more species will vanish, marine ecosystems will unravel and there will be
global collapse of all species currently fished, possibly as soon as midcentury. (Dean, 2006). The issue
of overfishing, which is defined as continuously taking more fish than can be replaced by reproduction
and growth, (Overfishing: What Everyone Needs to Know, Hilborn 5) has become prevalent in society
today. This is because of the advancements in technology and the pressure made by food industries for

There is one reason as to how the population of the cod collapsed: overfishing. Before the 1960s, the
cod of Newfoundland had sustained a population where natality and mortality rates (includes natural
death, death by predators, and fishing) were balanced. However, when foreign factory ships migrated
towards Newfoundland, the population of the cod began to drastically increase. In the 1960s, over
30% of foreign ships reported catching over 800,000 tons of cod in a single year. From that point on,
the birth and growth rates of the cod began to decrease. As of result, Canada attempted to take control
of the fishery; unfortunately, it was unable to rebuild the population. Due to this,
Canada was unable to meet it s target catch in 1991. This caused not only a problem in the food
industry, but for the economy as a whole. Once Crosbie closed the cod fishery, about 20,000 people
became unemployed. This event depicts how overfishing affects the jobs of those who work in the
industry. According to the United States Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), commercial
fishing employs about 44 million people. If fish populations continue to decline, millions of people
will become unemployed as did those in Newfoundland. This will effect the incomes of families, thus
affecting the economic statuses of countries. Along with those who work as fisherman, those who
work in the food industry are affected as well.

The Culture Of The Spanish Culture
The Spanish Culture
Spain has one of the most interesting cultures in the world. The culture that Spain has has influenced
and shaped the modern world as we know it. Despite Spain being one of the smaller countries in terms
of territory in the southwestern Europe, their history is shockingly different from that of the others
around them. Spain occupies a large portion of the Iberian Peninsula. The land that Spain rests on has
been sought after by many different civilizations such as the Romans, Visigoths, Moors, Catholics,
and Arabs. Under the Spanish Empire under the rile of King Felipe II, who unified all of the Spanish
lands and territories from the current day Philippines, to Italy, some of what is now Germany, Portugal
and the Netherlands. During the nineteenth century, the most important parts of the Spanish history
would take place with the loss of territories and the fall of the Spanish Empire. Following this, the
territories that were lost gained independence. These territories that gained independence are what is
now the Philippines, Puerto Rice, Cuba, and parts of the Americas.
Spain is a predominately Roman Catholic country with approximately 71 percent of the population
saying that they align themselves with that religion. (Study Country). Although Roman Catholicism
does not hold any official status under their new democracy, it is still heavily intertwined in the culture
of the country. In the majority of Spanish public schools, students are required to take

The Security Forces And Terrorism
Iraq s Security Forces have been under scrutiny since ISIS began controlling Iraqi cities. The Iraqi
Security Forces had 1,000,000 million personnel and had received $100 billion dollars in aid since
2006 (Al Ali, 2014). However, ISIS is smaller in force and funds. ISIS has an estimated 20,000 troops
and makes an estimated $1 4 million everyday (Gollom, 2014). The Iraqi Security Forces should have
the ability and force to crush this terrorist cell, but astonishingly are being overrun by this terrorist
cell. The Iraqi Security Forces face interior issues that cripple its ability to deal with military threats,
and make the state vulnerable to internal and external attacks. Some of the most prominent issues
affecting the power of Iraqi Security Forces is the early exiting of United States soldiers, Prime
Minister Maliki s policies, deep sectarian, and massive corruption throughout the military.
In 2003 the United States led coalition overthrew the Ba ath regime led by Saddam Hussein. The

Criminalization Of Cannabis In Canada
In Canada, cannabis use became illegal in 1923 after the Act to Prohibit the Improper Use of Opium
and other Drugs added cannabis to the list of illicit substances. Cannabis then became an illegal
substance under the same category of harder drugs such as cocaine and heroin, despite lack of
scientific or criminal correlations to suggest such categorization (CAMH, 2014). An increase in illicit
drug use in the 1960 s and 1970 s was met by greatly increased criminalization and the associated
individual and social costs. The strain on the courts, and the rising numbers of otherwise law abiding
youth being sentenced for recreational use of cannabis created pressures for the liberalization of

In R. v. Readhead (2008), the accused was charged with the possession of marijuana and possession of
marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of two and one

sentence. The British Columbia Court of Appeal stated that the sentence prescribed by the sentencing

As pointed out by the British Columbia Court of Appeal, Readhead s past experience with the law, in

testing is a defective method, but it still widely used in normal life, which is utilized to get the result
of new medicines and feedback of cosmetic products. On this basis, a number of people have started

technology has not yet reached a certain level of advanced conditions, animal experiments are still the
main approach to find out the solution of diseases in treatments. There are plenty of benefits about
using animal testing to test new medicines and cosmetic products. The main advantage of animal

that they are importing more than they are exporting. This also means that there is an excess supply of
pesos in the world market. Since they are on a fixed exchange rate, the government is going to have to
intervene and buy back pesos using its official reserves account. If Mexico s foreign exchange balance
is unable to effectively buy back pesos, they will be forced to devalue. 2. Since the private capital

The money they spent on imports is more than the money they are taking in from exports, creating an

are willing to essentially pay 5 pesos for 6 pesos in 3 months because they anticipate that their value
will be discounted 20%. On 8/27, this number was down to 9.08%. This shows optimism that the peso

the market was implying the probability of devaluation over a three month period had gone down,

assets more attractive in order to raise capital. If other countries start buying their domestic assets, the
peso should consequently appreciate vs. the USD. My analysis, however, is that this attempt may be
unsuccessful. They are going to have to pay back more so then under lower interest rates. In order to
pay back, they are going to be putting more pesos in the world market, ultimately depreciating the
value of them. Regardless, the

Dred Scott s The Supreme Court Of The United States
It has been presented to the Supreme Court of the United States of America that Mr. Dred Scott pleas
for freedom from his slave master, Mr. Sanford. Initially Mr. Scott was owned by Dr. Emerson until
Mr. Emerson s death when Scott was sold to Mr. Sanford. Under intense scrutiny and discernment it
has been decided by the Supreme Court that Mr. Dred Scott has the inalienable right to be a free
citizen of the United States of America. Scott is a slave, owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Emerson since
1836. Scott currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri as of 1830. Mr. Dred Scott has presided residence
in both Illinois and Wisconsin Territory, accompanied by his slaveholder. The Illinois and Wisconsin
Territories are free, meaning that no man nor woman can be private property of another. Because of
this, Mr. Emerson has no control nor jurisdiction over Scott. Mr. Scott resided in free territory for
several years, therefore, he must leave this courtroom as a free man. Although slavery is not abolished
in the South, it is abolished in both of the territories that Scott visited during his involvement with Mr.
Emerson, making it his right to be free. It is of the slaveholder s duty to not enter the territories of
Illinois and Wisconsin expecting his slave to maintain in his possession. The responsibility is left on
Mr. Emerson and it is due to his ignorance that his slave will gain freedom today. Slavery is prohibited
in both territories, making it unreasonable that a man should remain a

Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride
How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate and
the calcium chloride?
Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates
how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help heal
sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten,
which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or
some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the
ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the cold pack is
squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate to mix. The
ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease
the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an
area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and makes the
blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold pack does, but instead of
ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is
squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack.
There are new concepts that relate to this lab, such as exothermic and endothermic reactions.

Data Analysis For The South Bronx
Data Analysis
The collected data will be analyzed using thematic data analysis. The data analysis process will be to
organize, code, categorize, and interpret. Each interview transcript, observation field note, and police
or school record will be uploaded into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be
used to code and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they
encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial codes, and, more
generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a detailed description of the case
(Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in
the unique setting of the South Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The
description serves to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed
sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The next step is to identify emerging patterns,
themes, similarities, and differences using categorical aggregation (Creswell, 2013). The themes and
patterns will be directly interpreted to develop naturalistic generalizations of what was learned
(Creswell 2013, p. 190). Direct interpretation is a unique method for the case study approach because
it focuses on the information made explicit through the research and does not generalize beyond the
case (p. 101). Ultimately, the objective is to distill

people have been silenced all throughout the film, including SeaWorld and the Japanese Government.
While a few government representatives were shown in the film, they were filmed on secret cameras
which created a sense of fear in the audience and they were being manipulated by O Barrys questions
and answers. HOST: (nodding) Good point. Can you say any more about how SeaWorld has been
silenced? RD: Yes of course. The Cove has been very effective in silencing SeaWorld. SeaWorld has
been shown to the audience in a negative light as the film has shown the conditions of captivity in
SeaWorld but O Barry has not given them a chance to justify or explain their actions, which is very
unfair. HOST: Okay, can you know tell me about the inclusion and exclusion of

The Relationship Between Petruchio and Katherina in the...
An analysis of the relationship between Petruchio and Katherina throughout the play The Taming Of
The Shrew Introduction: The Taming Of The Shrew is a comic play based around a town in Italy
called Padua. In my view, the play is mainly centred round the relationship of Petruchio and
Katherina. Petruchio, a young, ambitious and (it could be said) ravenous man has his heart set on
locating a young and beautiful women with a wealthy background to be his wife. The fact that he will
only be interested in the women for her money is indicated several times before the meeting of
Petruchio and Katherina. P: I come to wive it wealthily in Padua; If wealthily, then happily in Padua.
P: Signor Hortensio, twixt such friends as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No mates for you Unless you were of gentler, milder mould. K: I faith, sir, you shall never need to
fear; Iwis it is not halfway to her heart. But if it were, doubt not her care should be To comb your
noddle with a three legged stool, And paint your face, and use you as a fool. Katherina shows that she
is in fact angered and upset by the willingness of the suitors of the town to turn to her sister when she
is the older of the two, and she should be married before her. She turns her anger to violence directed
at Bianca as shown in the beginning of Act 2 Scene 1, shortly before the meeting of Petruchio and
Katherina. K: O, then belike you fancy riches more: You will have Gremio to keep you fair. B: Is it for
him you do envy me so? Nay then you jest, and now I well perceive You have but jested with me all
this while. I prithee, sister Kate, untie my hands. K: [Striking her] If that be jest, then all the rest was
so. These representations of the characters I will analyse have shown that the characters have very
similar personalities and are prone to violence. Especially when it comes to lack of love. This will
change in a drastic way as I investigate the play. Petruchio will prevail and Katherina will be tamed.
Act 2 Scene 1: The Meeting When Petruchio is alone before the first meeting, he shares with the
audience his proposal to woo Kate, using a soliloquy. This opens the audience

Netflix Is The World s Leading Internet Television Network
Alex Lee
As mentioned by the Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, the core of the company s business is providing
DVD by mail and streaming. Netflix incorporation is in the business of providing on demand internet

world s leading internet television network with fifty million members among forty countries such as
North America, South America, United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark,

Businesses that have few powerful buyers are not often able to dictate the terms and conditions of a
business. However in Netflix s scenario, there are many powerful buyers which enforces the company
s terms. The buyers are so powerful that the Netflix CEO had to respond to the world with a written
apology. The New Market entrants include Amazon Prime, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, and Vudu. These
companies were attracted to the Internet streaming entertainment as being a profitable industry.
However, Netflix maintains its land by its originality i.e. being the first large scale operation of its
kind. Netflix also holds the most content making survival for the future companies very difficult.
Supplier power is a measure of how easy it is for a company to raise prices. As far as supplier power
goes, Netflix has a good brand reputation, geographical coverage, and high quality product and service
with their customers than the competitors. In terms of substitute products, Netflix has a high quality
product that was developed as a result of high level technology compared to the competition. Strong
substitute products that exist in the market will increase the likelihood that customers would switch to
alternatives if prices rise. The impact of substitutes will reduce the power of suppliers and the market
attractiveness.
Among all else, Netflix continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the online streaming industry
compared to its competitors. Netflix s

Nuclear Waste In The Yucca Mountain
There are many different opinions on whether we should continue to create nuclear energy or we
should stop it. Some of the positive aspects are there has been no fatalities at nuclear power plants.
Another one is nuclear power plants generate 20% of today power. Also nuclear energy is a clean
power source with no pollution. Some negative aspects are creating these plants cost a lot of money.
Another problem is we are running out of places to store waste. The waste puts off nuclear radiation
We are in much need for places to store this nuclear waste. One of the places researches believe may
be the perfect place but also the worst place is Yucca Mountain. I believe they should store nuclear
waste inside the Yucca Mountain. It is far away

What Are The Techniques Used In Monty Python And The Holy...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film
that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three
techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is
what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic
illusion.
Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic
illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder
that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the
story.
My first example is the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ARTHUR: There it is! The Bridge of Death! ROBIN: Oh, great. KNIGHT: Look! ARTHUR: There s
the old man from Scene 24! BEDEMIR: What is he doing here?
With this technique the filmmakers can belittle the famous story of King Arthur and his Knights of the
Round Table by making this story look trivial. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes
into the film.
Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from
different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century.
My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed
velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science.
GUARD #1: It s not a question of where he grips it! It s a simple question of weight ratios! A five
ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn t matter. Will you go and tell
your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here. GUARD #1: Listen, in order to maintain
air speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second,

Case study The Walt Disney Company: The Entertainment King
1.Briefly describe the type(s) of diversification strategies that Walt Disney pursues/has pursued over
the years.
The Walt Disney company can be seen as a highly diversified company. Over the years, it has pursued
a wide range of diversification strategies that we can enhance:•Horizontal integration: obviously,
Walt Disney has invaded several markets, diversifying its offer to many fields. In 2000, we can find
five big main fields of action where Walt Disney operates: Media Network, studio entertainment,
theme parks and resort, consumer products and internet and direct marketing. Moreover, each of these
categories is itself divided in other categories characterized by the ... Show more content on

The main point is that Walt Disney relied on many logics of diversification to implement the
introduction of new products on the market, and to diversify its activity, that is why its activity seemed
to be so flourishing and so wide.
2.What is the critical resource that Walt Disney is trying to leverage in its businesses?Walt Disney
handles a lot of resources in its businesses, but we can consider that there is one main critical resource
that it tries to leverage: creativity, and in a way, all the resources that are linked to it (intellectual
property for instance). Actually, over the years, Walt Disney adopted different strategies, diversified its
activity, always trying to manage creativity in the best way. Under Einer, creativity was handled
through the brain storming meetings, and when they were reduced or became useless, they were
regretted. Furthermore, the only way to survive for the company was to keep being creative, which is
why it had hard times when creativity was not sufficient or handled correctly. Diversification is also a
way to expand creativity to many fields keeping the Walt Disney spirit and culture.
3.The period from 1984 until about 1994 was a successful one for Walt Disney. How was Disney set
up to extract so much value out of its businesses? The years 1984 1994 were those of change for Walt
Disney, under the management of Eisner. And success followed changes and

  • 2. Harry Potter Fire This month s SSR book I read was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The author is J. K. Rowling. The copyright date is 2000 and there are 734 pages in the book. J. K. Rowling is a British author who is known for the Harry Potter series. Her first book was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, published in 1997. The second book, called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, was published in 1998. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third book, was published in 1999. The genre of this novel is Fantasy. This book is different from other fantasy books because it compares the magical world with the non magical, or Muggle, world. They also have mythical creatures that are only known in the Harry Potter series, such as Blast Ended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was what caused Harry to mature and face Voldemort. The first quote I chose was The fire in the goblet had just turned red again. Sparks were flying out of it. A long flame shot suddenly into the air, and borne upon it was another piece of parchment... And then Dumbledore cleared his throat and read out Harry Potter. I chose the first quote because that was what influenced the plot the most. It cause Harry to join the Triwizard tournament and it cause Voldemort to resurrect. This quote also created a mystery aspect during the book because you want to know who put his name in. The second quote is ...he was going to die upright like his father, and he was going to die trying to defend himself, even if no defense was possible... I chose this quote because it showed Harry s bravery. He wasn t going to hide from Voldemort, but would rather die trying. My favorite scene was after he came back from the graveyard and they were questioning Barty Crouch Jr. Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Winky the house elf all stood with Harry, listening to Barty Crouch as he reveals his true identity. He is given Veritaserum, a truth potion. It was my favorite scene because all the questions asked throughout the book are answered in this scene. All the mysteries are uncovered and it starts to make sense. The thing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Difference Between Scientific Theory And Common Sense 1. What is a scientific theory? Please cite a definition that you like. Wikipedia defines Scientific theory, as often seeks to synthesize a body of evidence or observations of phenomena. It s generally though by no means always a grander, testable statement about how nature operates. I see scientific theory as having a great deal of support backing it to support and accepted it as true. 1. What is the difference between a scientific theory and common sense ideas about the same topic (for example, why a child seeks a bottle at birth)? A scientific theory is more like a fact than a guess because it is supported. Common sense is a usual understanding of practical matters, and common sense is vital for day to day life. The word common sense is used in the sense of instinct. Common sense is vital to my ever day life, but science is not vital to day to day life. I know I use common sense on a regular basis especially when I m driving, and the light is turning yellow my common sense lets me know to stop because oncoming traffic is coming and it s not safe to drive through the light. Also, I use common sense when crossing the street common sense tells me to press the cross signal and wait for me to be told when to cross so that I don t get ran over Common sense understandings fit social expectation. There is a sense of the element in the common sense understanding of social psychology. It is accepted widely and something that is shared amongst the people of a common ... Mathilde And Grandmother In The Necklace And The Neckless the main characters Mathilde in The Necklace and the grandmother in A good man is hard to find are very resembling the reasons why is because the both show a character of selfishness. They made a mistake, but they refused to admit that. Both of them had the same kind of motivation to their previous mistake, and also they had the same excuse as to why they keep quiet about their mistake. Even though Mathilde and the grandmother punishments were not the same, but we still can compare them, because no matter way the situation was dead or alive both of them were doing something that was unacceptable. Mathilde in the Neckless is a very vibrant young woman who was just got married she wanted to be important and to have a lot of money compared with the grandmother in A Good Man is Hard to Find The grandmother was already an old lady she was already important. Therefore, pride causes Mathilde to suffer a lot the reasons why because she wants to better than anyone else, as for the grandmother she suffers from pride because she thought she was better and more important than anybody. Another different is that Mathilde started to know hard time when she lost the necklace, in the other hand the grandmother was misinform between Georgia and Tennessee. You may have also have heard many news outlets and other media sites talk about how violence in games is influencing people to perform these acts. Yes, violent games are blamed for many of these acts, but there is a lack of evidence to support these claims along with proof of the opposite effect. There have been many studies that have tried to prove otherwise, but in the end most of them show little proof of an actual effect. Most evidence that tries to prove that violent games cause someone to be violent has been debunked by other researchers. For example, a study required 32 people to play games for 15 minutes and after they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Violent Video Games Do Not Cause Violence. • 6. Aluminum Ware Mat Reinforced Polyester Composite ABSTRACT Aluminum ware mat reinforced Polyester Composite has been developed to find out an alternative structural material. The physical and mechanical characteristics that are Tensile strength, Flexural strength, Water absorption, Hardness etc. illustrate the competency of the developed composite. It is found that Water Absorbency, Tensile strength, Flexural strength, hardness stiffness increase with increasing of Metal Mat layer in the composite which is estimated maximum for the three Metal Mat layered composite and minimum for the zero layered composite. Mechanical properties of the composite increase with the increase of metal mat layer. All the properties suggest the use of the composite as an unbeaten structural material but water uptake evades its outside use. INTRODUCTION: Metal reinforced Polyester composite has been increasingly drawn the attention of the researchers for the last decades. Light weight along with high strength materials can replace traditional construction materials used in building engineering, aeronautics, mechanical engineering and in many other domains. It is related to a possibility of obtaining practically any combination of beneficial properties of the material, e.g. high vibration damping coefficient, high abrasion resistance, high value of the Young s modulus, low specific gravity and low coefficient of thermal expansion [1, 2, 3, 4] . • 7. Significance Of The Zoot Suit There are three iconic symbols of the presence of Mexican Americans in the history of the United States: The role of Mexican Americans in the WWII, the Bracero movement, and the Zoot Suit Riot. All three moments provide insight on the participation of Hispanics in the construction of the American society and more importantly, on the way the Mexican American identity has been constructed and on the ways this community has been considered, in general terms, a group of domestic aliens. As a consequence, Mexican Americans have been segregated and denied equal opportunity historically. However, they are here to stay, an Anglos better learn to deal with their presence. This attire became a symbol of identity of Mexican Americans in the California area and those men who wanted to contest the life conditions and the social and economic situation of their community. Wearing the Zoot Suit became a symbol of identity that would later be criminalized. The soot suit consisted of an oversized suit, a very long jacket and exaggerated pants; with very especial characteristics. One of the most distinctive accessories was the watch chain hanging from the pants, between the legs, a symbol of their manhood. The other significant element was the real leather soled shoes. These two traits were especially shocking for those who did not accept the community: They were symbols of a more open sexuality and a disregard for the rationing policy that reign in the country. The zoot suit became a strong political symbol due to the Zoot Suit Riot and the Sleepy Lagoon murder, two shocking events that derailed the relationships between Anglos and Mexican Americans. The first one occurred on May 31st, 1943, when a group of youngsters dressed in zoot suits were attacked by Anglo youths, many of them in Navy attire. • 8. The Positive Impact Of The Reformation In The 16th Century The Reformation during the 16th century was something that had always been thought of and what is expected that had a positive impact on many people. Reformers that were in the medieval church like St. Francis of Assisi, Valdes, Jan Hus, and John Wycliff had thought about the aspects of the church and throughout life before 1517. During the 16th century, figures such as Erasmus of Rotterdam who was the chief proponent of liberal Catholic reform, had an ongoing concern before Luther told his Ninety Five Theses. From Martin Luther the aspect of the beginning of the section is very intriguing, offering how the impact had caused a positive change: Luther having experienced this new conviction, it is not surprising that the extravagant claims surrounding the sale of indulgences in 1517 provoked him to the public. The form and text of that protest became known as the 95 Theses . ( Martin Luther 427). From his objection to the claim, the pope had then relieved the sins of Luther and the Catholic church. The Reformation was a major change in the Catholic church due to the change of how people bettered themselves. Luther was unhappy that the Catholic church offered an indulgence for pay, such as, As for myself, let me say that I, too, am a doctor and a preacher yes, and as learned and experienced as any of those who act so high and mighty ( Martin Luther 428). By following the sacraments, many were able to better their relationship with Jesus. Shall we frivolously despise this might, blessing, power, and fruit especially we who would be pastors and preachers? ( Martin Luther 429). Martin Luther is expressing with powers and questioning what one should do with pastors and preachers and how one can better that problem to come up with a solution. The following quote sticks out due to the fact that the quote is setting guidelines to how many should go about living their life, Sixteenth Rule. In the same way, we must be on our guard that by talking much and with much insistence of faith, without any distinction and explanation occasion be not given to the people to be lazy and slothful in works, whether before faith is formed in charity or after ( Saint Ignatius of Loyola 446). • 9. Driverless Car Advancement Have you ever been extremely late for school or your occupations and wish you could just get ready in the car? Automotive cars are planned to come out sometime in the near future of the year 2020. I know this new technological advancement seems scary, but with the ways it will benefit us remarkable. Self driving cars would impact our advanced society in many positive ways because the streets would become less congested, the innovations for cars have worked before, and the amount of deaths would be lessened. The driverless car would be a great innovation to have in your everyday life because it will allow cities to not be as congested. Firstly, this technology will become increasingly reliable and affordable, which will allow dense, urban locations to become more spread out in population (Dashevsky). This demonstrates that when this innovation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated 2,200 lives were saved due to electronic stability from 2008 to 2010 (Villasenor). This demonstrates how technological advancements might even be scary at the beginning and hard to get used to, that it will be worth it in the long run. Next, advanced innovations are being tested, such as safely navigating through streets, to prove that this technology is capable (Villasenor). Without people driving these cars, and computers navigating through the streets instead, there will be less accidents as well as deaths. Finally, road deaths have dropped from 53,000 in 1970 to 33,000 in 2014, which is even more impressive when you hear that the population has doubled and the number of miles we drive per year has tripled (Dashevsky). This demonstrates that innovations have been working for the past years, if the amount of deaths per year have been decreasing. • 10. Taming Of The Shrew Irony A comedy is a work thats intended purpose is to make an audience laugh. Not all comedies are created equally though. Some comedies are better than others. This is based on the characteristics of a comedy and how they are executed within the work. After reading and analyzing The Taming of the Shrew and The Importance of Being Earnest as comedies, I have come to the conclusion that The Taming of the Shrew is a better comedy. One of the typical characteristics of a comedy are puns. A pun is a deliberate confusion of words or phrases for humorous effect. We can see puns all throughout Taming of the Shrew. One example of this is when Grumio and Petruchio have a misunderstanding at Hortensio s gate. The misunderstanding happens when Petruchio asks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A satire exposes and criticizes foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society by using humor, irony, exaggerating, or ridicule. The satire in the Taming of the Shrew occurs when Petrucio states I come to wive wealthily in Padua; if wealthy, then happily in Padua. (Shakespeare 1.2.76 7). This brings to attention the problem with the motivation for marriage in society back then. This same problem is also brought to attention within The Importance of Being Earnest. This satire occurs when Lady Bracknell expresses that A moment, Mr. Worthing. A hundred and thirty thousand pounds? And in the Funds? Miss Cardew seems to me a most attractive young lady, now that I look at her. (Wilde 63). Both of these plays bring up the same problem with society. However, the Taming of the Shrew brings more attention to the problem because there is more of an exaggeration. Baptista wants his older daughter married off first but requires there to be love in the relationship. He then will allow his younger daughter to marry the man with the most property and money. This is brings more attention to the problem because of the irony that the girl he wants married off quickest has to be loved but his second daughter has to marry someone with ... • 11. George Washington And Jefferson s Influence On The... There are very few people who wouldn t think about George Washington,John Adams and Thomas Jefferson when someone mentions the Founding Fathers. Without a doubt we can say that they were three very important men who greatly affected the independence of our country. Out of three, Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best for this county even though they had different views on many issues. Both grew up in Virginia, but they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced to the writings of Isaac Newton,John Locke, and Francis Bacon which later influenced his political views. After Jefferson graduated from college he worked as a lawyer and later got into politics. Prior to his presidency he had many government positions such as Member of Virginia House of Burgesses,Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Virginia,Secretary of State, just to list a few. Lord Tennyson wrote the last sentence as part of a larger poetic tribute to the courage of those who made a particular charge during the battle of Balaclava. This essay is to address the Mission Command principles of Lord Raglan, and how as commander he influenced the Battle of Balaclava. Lord Raglan s most notable impacts on the Battle of Balaclava was not building subordinate commanders into a cohesive team, oversimplification of using mission orders, failure to provide a clear commander s intent, and not creating a shared understanding. The Battle of Balaclava itself was part of the Crimean War with the allied nations of Britain, France, and the Ottoman Empire fighting the Russian Empire. The Battle of Balaclava took place on 25 October, 1854 and was part of a larger operation to seize the Port of Sevastopol. Lord Raglan, who was born Fitzroy Sunrierset, was the commander of all British forces, and General Liprandi commanded the Russian army. The ANO is a terrorist organization the resides in the Israel/Palestine state, whose goals are to destroy the existing Israeli state that they ve been forced to share their land with. Sunday, Jun 23, 2013, 8:42 IST | Agency: Daily Telegraph To some scientists, they re deadlier than cigarettes; to others they re (mostly) harmless. Will we ever know the truth about mobile phones? Julia Llewellyn Smith finds out. Representational image DNA In 1996, Neil Whitfield, a sales manager from Wigan, was given his first mobile phone by his company. It was introduced as a nice, cuddly friend. It had all of your mates contact details on it. It was always in your pocket or pressed against your ear, he says. Are mobiles really dangerous? There is no question that some of those sounding the alarm belong to that subset of humanity who see conspiracies everywhere they look. But, investigating the subject, it became clear to me that the arguments against phones are not all the products of paranoid minds. Far from it. The fact is, considering how widespread phones are (more than 5.3 billion mobiles are in use out of a global population of 7 billion) anything that proved they were dangerous would be a highly inconvenient truth. Mobile phones is an issue we all bury our heads in the sand about, confirms Denis Henshaw, professor of physics and head of the Human Radiation Effects group at Bristol University. The first mobile phone technology was rolled out without really any consideration for the long term effects, just like asbestos and smoking. The government rakes in billions from the technology, in taxes from the mobile phone companies and licensing of the networks. The new generation really doesn t want to know about any potential ill effects. Position Paper on Stephen Covey Position Paper on Stephen Covey s, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People MG 401 Senior Seminar in Management Introduction In 1989, Stephen Covey s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how we think about time and life management. In this book, Covey presents seven principles for developing effectiveness in our private and public lives. By developing these habits, one moves from being dependent on other people to being and acting independently. Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose in detailing the seven habits is to help people improve themselves. The seven habits are woven into a diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen pieces, with the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the picture as a whole, as well as seeing the development from dependence to independence to interdependence. The first three habits, which lead to independence, a private victory, lead to the final four steps, which include public victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of leadership over other leaders. Often I see these leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a difficult situation. They see only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently and think about the book s section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit talks about being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all the other habits are types of being proactive. • 24. History Is Memory History can be defined in a number of ways. One could say history is a record of events that occurred in the past, or another person could say that history is the knowledge and facts of the past. Carl Becker s definition is perhaps the simplest and finest definition of history. Becker defines history as the memory of things said and done (223). Memory is history, which is what history truly is and how it should be looked at by mankind. As long as mankind has that memory, then that memory of the things said and done will become history. For mankind to truly be able to define what history is, they must understand the importance of preservation, interpretations, and periodization with the things said and done. If history is memory, and that memory is lost, then history can be lost forever. The Earth itself is billions of years old and mankind has been around on the planet for only a few thousands of those years. In her book, Marnie Hughes Warrington mentions a piece of work from R. G. Collingwood in which he defines history as a science whose business is to study events not accessible to our observation (35). Mankind has only been around for a small number of blinks of an eye, which means that there is a significant amount of history that mankind still does not know about, and possibly may never know. Aphrodite of Melos for example, is a famous and beautiful ancient Greek freestanding statue from the Hellenistic Period. The arms of the statue are missing and mankind does ... • 26. Access Control Mechanisms Protect Sensitive Information... Access control mechanisms protect sensitive information from unauthorized users. However, when sensitive information is shared and a Privacy Protection Mechanism (PPM) is not in place, an authorized user can still compromise the privacy of a person leading to identity disclosure. A PPM can use suppression and generalization of relational data to anonymize and satisfy privacy requirements, e.g., k anonymity and l diversity, against identity and attribute disclosure. However, privacy is achieved at the cost of precision of authorized information., we propose an accuracy constrained privacy preserving access control framework. The access control policies define selection predicates available to roles while the privacy requirement is to satisfy the k anonymity or l diversity. An additional constraint that needs to be satisfied by the PPM is the imprecision bound for each selection predicate. The techniques for workload aware anonymization for selection predicates have been discussed in the literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, the problem of satisfying the accuracy constraints for multiple roles has not been studied before. In our formulation of the aforementioned problem, we propose heuristics for anonymization algorithms and show empirically that the proposed approach satisfies imprecision bounds for more permissions and has lower total imprecision than the current state of the art. There is one reason as to how the population of the cod collapsed: overfishing. Before the 1960s, the cod of Newfoundland had sustained a population where natality and mortality rates (includes natural death, death by predators, and fishing) were balanced. However, when foreign factory ships migrated towards Newfoundland, the population of the cod began to drastically increase. In the 1960s, over 30% of foreign ships reported catching over 800,000 tons of cod in a single year. From that point on, the birth and growth rates of the cod began to decrease. As of result, Canada attempted to take control of the fishery; unfortunately, it was unable to rebuild the population. Due to this, Canada was unable to meet it s target catch in 1991. This caused not only a problem in the food industry, but for the economy as a whole. Once Crosbie closed the cod fishery, about 20,000 people became unemployed. This event depicts how overfishing affects the jobs of those who work in the industry. The main advantage of animal testing to test medicine is that it can carry out more experiments in shorter time. This is because of most of growing up period animal is shorter than human. • 38. Persuasive Footballs In The Stadiums Mitch Trubisky is a Franchise Quarterback The Chicago Bears have found their future of their franchise. They are generally considered the laughing stock of the league. They no longer deserve that reputation anymore though, they will soon prove the haters wrong with their new franchise quarterback. With Mitch Trubisky at the helm of this franchise they have what it takes to make a run for the championship. They call it Mitchmas, Merry Mitchmas to all the Bears fans, Mitchapalooza, Mitch Magic etc. there is some serious hype around the franchise now that number two overall pick of the 2017 draft is now slinging footballs for the Chicago Bears. It sounds kind of dumb but the fact that Mitch Trubisky is playing alone brings the hype for Bears fans. Fan support is actually a really big deal in the NFL. When the fans are invested in the game they cheer louder and bring a sense of energy to the stadium, some might say the stadium was electric. #10 on first NFL start: It was fun. It was Monday Night Football. The crowd was electric, gotta thank them for coming out and really supporting us. 9:24 PM 9 Oct 2017 (Tweet) (@ChicagoBears). As you can see that the stadium had a different feel with Trubisky under center and that is actually a phenomenon, some NFL stadiums are harder to compete in than others. For example everyone knows there is an added challenge while playing in Seattle. Picking between them is tough, but I would say narrowly that the Seahawks have the best ... • 39. Essay on Mexican Peso Devaluation 1. The trade and current account balances are negative which means they are in a deficit. This means that they are importing more than they are exporting. This also means that there is an excess supply of pesos in the world market. Since they are on a fixed exchange rate, the government is going to have to intervene and buy back pesos using its official reserves account. If Mexico s foreign exchange balance is unable to effectively buy back pesos, they will be forced to devalue. 2. Since the private capital account is gradually increasing, it means the peso needs to be devalued. Generally the current account and the capital account balance are inversely related, meaning if the current account is negative then the capital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The money they spent on imports is more than the money they are taking in from exports, creating an excess supply of pesos. In order to eliminate this, the only way is to buy them back. 5. On June 18 the market for forwards on pesos was anticipating a 20% discount on the peso. This means that investors are willing to essentially pay 5 pesos for 6 pesos in 3 months because they anticipate that their value will be discounted 20%. On 8/27, this number was down to 9.08%. This shows optimism that the peso will not be devalued relative to the dollar as much as initially anticipated on June 18. This shows that the market was implying the probability of devaluation over a three month period had gone down, although there is still an expected discount of 9.08% relative to the USD. 6. Since the lending rates to prime borrowers is declining in the U.S. and increasing in Mexico, this shows that Mexico is trying to strengthen the peso relative to the USD. By raising interest rates, they are trying to make domestic assets more attractive in order to raise capital. If other countries start buying their domestic assets, the peso should consequently appreciate vs. the USD. My analysis, however, is that this attempt may be unsuccessful. They are going to have to pay back more so then under lower interest rates. In order to pay back, they are going to be putting more pesos in the world market, ultimately depreciating the value of them. Regardless, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dred Scott s The Supreme Court Of The United States It has been presented to the Supreme Court of the United States of America that Mr. Dred Scott pleas for freedom from his slave master, Mr. Sanford. Initially Mr. Scott was owned by Dr. Emerson until Mr. Emerson s death when Scott was sold to Mr. Sanford. Under intense scrutiny and discernment it has been decided by the Supreme Court that Mr. Dred Scott has the inalienable right to be a free citizen of the United States of America. Scott is a slave, owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Emerson since 1836. Scott currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri as of 1830. Mr. Dred Scott has presided residence in both Illinois and Wisconsin Territory, accompanied by his slaveholder. The Illinois and Wisconsin Territories are free, meaning that no man nor woman can be private property of another. Because of this, Mr. Emerson has no control nor jurisdiction over Scott. Mr. Scott resided in free territory for several years, therefore, he must leave this courtroom as a free man. Although slavery is not abolished in the South, it is abolished in both of the territories that Scott visited during his involvement with Mr. Emerson, making it his right to be free. It is of the slaveholder s duty to not enter the territories of Illinois and Wisconsin expecting his slave to maintain in his possession. The responsibility is left on Mr. Emerson and it is due to his ignorance that his slave will gain freedom today. Slavery is prohibited in both territories, making it unreasonable that a man should remain a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate and the calcium chloride? Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack. • 42. Data Analysis For The South Bronx Data Analysis The collected data will be analyzed using thematic data analysis. The data analysis process will be to organize, code, categorize, and interpret. Each interview transcript, observation field note, and police or school record will be uploaded into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be used to code and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial codes, and, more generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a detailed description of the case (Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in the unique setting of the South Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The description serves to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The next step is to identify emerging patterns, themes, similarities, and differences using categorical aggregation (Creswell, 2013). The themes and patterns will be directly interpreted to develop naturalistic generalizations of what was learned (Creswell 2013, p. 190). Direct interpretation is a unique method for the case study approach because it focuses on the information made explicit through the research and does not generalize beyond the case (p. 101). Ultimately, the objective is to distill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An analysis of the relationship between Petruchio and Katherina throughout the play The Taming Of The Shrew Introduction: The Taming Of The Shrew is a comic play based around a town in Italy called Padua. In my view, the play is mainly centred round the relationship of Petruchio and Katherina. Petruchio, a young, ambitious and (it could be said) ravenous man has his heart set on locating a young and beautiful women with a wealthy background to be his wife. The fact that he will only be interested in the women for her money is indicated several times before the meeting of Petruchio and Katherina. Katherina shows that she is in fact angered and upset by the willingness of the suitors of the town to turn to her sister when she is the older of the two, and she should be married before her. She turns her anger to violence directed at Bianca as shown in the beginning of Act 2 Scene 1, shortly before the meeting of Petruchio and Katherina. K: O, then belike you fancy riches more: You will have Gremio to keep you fair. B: Is it for him you do envy me so? Nay then you jest, and now I well perceive You have but jested with me all this while. I prithee, sister Kate, untie my hands. K: [Striking her] If that be jest, then all the rest was so. These representations of the characters I will analyse have shown that the characters have very similar personalities and are prone to violence. Especially when it comes to lack of love. This will change in a drastic way as I investigate the play. Petruchio will prevail and Katherina will be tamed. Act 2 Scene 1: The Meeting When Petruchio is alone before the first meeting, he shares with the audience his proposal to woo Kate, using a soliloquy. This opens the audience ... Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic illusion. Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the story. My first example is the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ARTHUR: There it is! The Bridge of Death! ROBIN: Oh, great. KNIGHT: Look! ARTHUR: There s the old man from Scene 24! BEDEMIR: What is he doing here? With this technique the filmmakers can belittle the famous story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by making this story look trivial. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes into the film. Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century. My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science. GUARD #1: It s not a question of where he grips it! It s a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn t matter.
