Although both terms partly assess how far an individual has maintained their ethnic heritage within a foreign environment or new society, acculturation and ethnic identity are two entirely different concepts. Acculturation, in essence, defines an individual's adaptation status to different beliefs, behaviors, and values encountered within a new environment. Ethnic identity, on the other hand, refers to minority groups collaborating and negotiating with each other in a foreign environment, developing a good relationship and more positive attitude toward members of the same group as a distinct subdivision of the majority in a different society.
In the context of acculturation status, there are three subdivisions - separated, bicultural or integrated, and assimilated. Reverse-Culture shock
1) Living abroad can cause profound personal growth but also culture shock, including when returning home (reverse culture shock).
2) Symptoms of reverse culture shock include restlessness, boredom, irritability with one's home culture, and longing for the host country.
3) It is important to anticipate reverse culture shock by considering one's changed values and adjusting expectations about home, and to maintain connections to the host culture through language, media, and involvement with international communities.

Aggression

3) Bullying is a pattern of repeated aggression against a target with less power. It is motivated by a desire for power and status. Reducing bullying requires recognizing it as a problem and protecting victims.
Prosocial Behavior

- 3. Core Assumptions • Experience of intercultural contact and change occurs in an economic & sociopolitical context and is influenced by both societies (origin & settlement) • Changes are seen as precipitating stress that result in affective, behavioral and cognitive coping responses
