Writing an essay on the topic "Stranger In The Village" can be a challenging yet intellectually
rewarding task. This particular subject requires a thoughtful exploration of various themes, such
as cultural differences, personal experiences, and the impact of being an outsider in a new
environment. It demands a deep understanding of the nuances embedded in the text and a
critical analysis of the author's perspective.
One of the challenges lies in deciphering and interpreting the intricate layers of the essay. The
complexity arises from the need to navigate through the author's observations, emotions, and the
historical context in which the essay was written. A successful essay on this topic should go
beyond summarizing the text; it must delve into the underlying meanings, cultural implications,
and the relevance of the narrative in a broader context.
Moreover, crafting a coherent and compelling argument requires careful consideration of the
evidence presented in the essay. Balancing personal reflections with analytical insights can be a
delicate task, as one needs to articulate a nuanced response that respects the author's intentions
while offering a unique perspective. Addressing the implications of being a "stranger" and
exploring how this concept resonates with contemporary society adds an additional layer of
complexity to the writing process.
Despite the challenges, mastering the art of essay writing on such a topic can enhance critical
thinking skills and the ability to articulate complex ideas. It is an opportunity to engage deeply
with the text, extract meaningful insights, and develop a well-structured and persuasive

Imagery in Macbeth
Imagery in Macbeth Violence and the bloodshed that results are important symbols
in Shakespeare s Macbeth. While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of
the outcomes of misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to
reflect upon his deeds, even if he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes
obsessed with the blood on his hands. Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does
not prevent him from continuing violent acts.
Marshall Mc Luhan.
Macbeth, one of the most intriguing tragedies by Shakespeare, has an extensive use
of imagery throughout the play. References to blood and other abstract objects set the

that the Scottish nation is no longer safe for them, as the murderer may now focus his

Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes
like, don t shake thy gory locks at me becoming all the more common. The
murderers, whom Macbeth had hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a
ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head . The imagery of blood is shown in
such a way that there is a profuse amount of blood flowing after every murder in the
play.
These references to blood observe their peak with Lady Macbeth s imagined blood
and the battlefield which form a crescendo to conglomerate all the murders
performed in the play. Out damned spot. Out, I say! One two! a passing reference
is also made by the second apparition to Macbeth, be bloody, bold and resolute .
Because blood forms the prologue and epilogue of every murder in the play, it sets
the ball rolling for the wave of action in the play. The fact that blood imagery
predominates in the play gives the play a tinge of horror.

October 20, 2014 Introduction Known as Operation Watch on the Rhein,
Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein in German, Germany launched one of the last and
deadliest counteroffensive operations against Allied forces along the Western Front
of the European Theater during World War II. The primary goal was to split the
American and British defenses in two and capture Antwerp to regain control and use
of the harbor, encircle the American and British armies in the area, sever the alliance
between the U.S. and Britain, and to force negotiations for a peace treaty with the U.S.

In September, Hitler announces and starts the planning for a major
counteroffensive on the Allied Forces along the Western Front through the
Ardennes region, which was lightly defended due to the rapid advance of forces
and the long logistical routes needed to keep the forward units supplied and
operational. Attempting to launch a counteroffensive on the Allies would be a
risky decision and move. On October 8, Generaloberst Alfred Jodl presented Hitler
with 5 initial plans for approval, all were rejected. Jodl then submitted 2 additional
plans on October 11, with a combination of the two plans being approved. It was
from this combination that the Ardennes plan, named Operation Watch on the
Rhein, was initiated. A couple of days later the Ardennes plan was briefed to the
senior ranking officers in the German army. The primary units assigned to

Vivaldi The Four Seasons
I ve once heard a saying that a good music limitless in potential. It is shapeless and
boundless, rich in expression and emotion, connects everyone together, and is
celebrated throughout the span of time. I was reminded yet again of the validity of
this statement during Pacific Musicworks s Viva Vivaldi! performed at the UW
Meany Hall on a windy day in late February. The program, featuring some of the
most phenomenal classic string performers around the region, presented a
masterpiece by one of the iconic Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi, the Four
Seasons. A collection of four concertos, each representing the four distinct seasons of
the year, is revered as an exemplary programmatic work, where musical elements,
melodic contours and dynamics conjures characteristic features and imagery in the
audiences minds what the composer had intended to portray by his compositional art.
To take a step further, Vivaldi had set Four Seasons to a sonnet, where... Show more

It was fun, unique, and a wonderful opportunity to experience music on more personal
level. Four Seasons contained many of the signature characteristics of the Baroque
period beginning with characteristic instruments (Strings, Violins, Lute), Exuberant
rhythm, complex melodies with lots of ornaments, and plenty of contrasts including
terraced dynamics. A concertoin ritornello form fully utilized three parts fast slow
fast composition throughout the collection. All unique characteristics combined,
Vivaldi managed to create a programmatic masterpiece that promoted rich emotions,
feelings, and imagery. In addition to all, the performers physical energy and actions

Examples Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous Carrie Fisher once said, Sometimes you can only find
Heaven by slowly backing away from hell (Brainyqoute) . When reading this quote,
it reminded me of someone trying to bounce their way back from an addiction.
People all over the world struggle daily with an addiction. It can be very heart
breaking for some families to watch family members or friends be taken away from
an addictionthey have. Alcoholismis a very common addiction today and has been
for years. In which in other terms, quitting cold turkey is something that can be
very hard to do; especially with no outside support whatsoever. If a person tries to
change their alcoholic ways cold turkey with no help from peers, then the person
will end up failing with their attempt to beat alcoholism. Stephen Wilcox states that
Excessive alcohol use kills 88,000 people annually, and is the third leading
lifestyle related cause of death in the Nation (Wilcox). Losing a loved one because
of a fixable problem is so heartbreaking. It can make families and friends feel
broken, because they could ve helped if they would ve known, or they blame
themselves and think how could I have not known. I m sure a lot of you are

Basic Rules of Driving
Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes
mean. You need to learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like.
There are many signs which you must follow in order to get to your destination. It is
very important that you learn all these before actually driving. Another thing you
must know is which lane you must drive in and how to turn into a lane. The reason
is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while on the road. In
order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a
car. Then you take a written test that includes all the information you have learned
about the road. But, for now learning about signs and colors is... Show more content

anyone the right to teach a person how to drive behind the wheel. The only thing I

Advantages And Uses Of Social Media In The Classroom
In today s society, social media has proven itself to be a huge part of the lives of
many, especially teenagers and adults. In the 21st century, social media is utilized
everywhere because it has made life much easier. For example, it is used for
communication, information, and networking. Social media has been influencing
the lives of people for quite some time now and it doesn t seem like it will stop
anytime soon. Humans depend largely on social media and that is why many are
using it to maximize their productivity and efficiency. Education is no exception to
this, especially in universities. Throughout centuries classrooms have been filled
with an abundance of books and papers but over the past few years, classrooms
have integrated social media and technology into the classroom setting. Colleges
and universities have integrated social media in every aspect as possible.
Universities only used libraries and professors for students to gather information
which limited their sources but now the world wide web has made it possible for
collegiate students and professors to have many resources that were almost
impossible to obtain if it were not for the internet and social media platforms. Even
though many still have doubts of the use of social media in a classroom setting it isn
t difficult to see that social media has many benefits because it s easily available and
accessible, improves communication in the classroom, and the plethora of
information and resources there is that
The Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation

we all share the same dreams Melinda Gates. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
is a private grant making foundation that believes that everyone is equal. They work
with partner organizations worldwide and have divisions in economic development,
health, education and a global policy and advocacy division. Bill Gateswas able to
found this world changing foundation after becoming the richest man in the world,
according to Forbes magazine. He left his role as chairman of Microsoft and is
now focused on using his billions to make a difference around the world and
improve the quality of life for everyone. Gates says in his plan to improve the
world that he has always known that he was going to give his wealth back to
society. He claims that the success of Microsoft provided him with a massive
fortune, and he felt responsible for using it in thoughtful ways (Gates, Bill Gates:
Here s My Plan to Improve Our World... ).
Being that the foundation is a private grant making foundation, they do not accept
donations from individuals. Instead, they ask that the money be given directly to
their grantee organizations. Bill, Melinda and all of the foundation believe that
people can make a difference. This is why they choose to spend their money this
way. In a letter from Bill and Melinda Gates to the foundation, they are cited saying

Reflection On The French Revolution
In this Reacting to the Past game, I learned valuable information about the French
Revolution. I feel that it was a highly educational experience and I would certainly
play it again if given the opportunity. While the contextual information of the game
did follow fairly closely to the history of France during the Revolution, some of the
actions we took as characters in the National Assemblywere mildly off from what
actually occurred in real life. As an indeterminate character, I was able to play a bit
of all sides, from the conservative side, to the Feuillant, and even a bit of the Jacobin.
This position was what allowed me to research and see the issues of the French
Revolutionfrom a number of different views.
First, I spoke on behalf ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, I was still required to speak on behalf of the remainder of the factions
before proclaiming my decision.
After discovering such things, I spoke in support of the Jacobins and Section
Leaders. This certainly did not earn me the favor of the remainder of the people, as
these were the outgoing and radical people. Their views presented things such as
the end of the monarchy and the destruction of the Catholic church as we knew it. I
did not personally read many research articles in favor of their opinions. However,
I was able to read some of the writings provided by my peers from their viewpoints.
I knew instantly that I had made the correct choice in siding with the Feuillants, as
the contemplated actions of the Jacobins would have caused for an uproar within
the country itself. This was shown very profoundly with the storming of the
Bastille and riots in the streets. My character could not possibly have stood long
term for such things. I spoke very briefly on the efforts of these people in one of my
speeches and then quickly moved on to find research in support of my final decision.
While the Feuillants did hold my heart and my mind from the beginning, I continually
found it necessary to support these findings with the words of other great men. These
supports were found in the writings of Slave Resistance Studies and the Saint
Domingue Slave

To what extent is Nationalism inherently aggressive and expansionist? Intro: It is
difficult to define Nationalism as either inherently destructive or expansionist. It
depends on the type of Nationalism and the circumstances in which is arises and how
people use or abuse it as an ideology. Heywood defines four main breeds of
Nationalism; Liberal Nationalism, Conservative Nationalism, Expansionist
Nationalism, Anti and post colonial Nationalism. One of the types of nationalism
which is more likely to be inherently destructive and expansionist is Expansionist

I believe that modern expansionist and destructive imperialism is a logical
consequence of the rise of nationalism and that the liberation of conquered peoples
was its unavoidable consequence. In some regions, Europeans exerted complete
political authority, in other areas, spheres of influence were established, and leaving
the existing governments as puppets, occasionally only economic influence was
exerted. Imperialism in Africa created colonies designed to serve the needs of the
colonial powers. Colonial boundaries often exacerbated long standing ethnic rivalries.
The consequences of expansionist nationalism were destructive and also predictable.
Competition between the expanding modern empires, rooted in expansionist
nationalism, led to inter state wars, starting overseas in the peripheral territories
where these states sought to expand their rule, and it ended, during the 20th century,
in gigantic inter state wars at the centre. World Wars I and II brought the defeat of
Germany and Italy in comparison with France, England, America and Russia, but all
of Europe suffered from war devastation. In this period, the true off springs of
nationalism who elevated this school to its highest position and gave it its severest
form were
Essay on The Leadership Challenge
One of the topics in organizational development today is leadership. Leadership is
what individuals do to mobilize other people in organizations and communities.
According to Kouzes Posner, there are five practices and ten commitments of
exemplary leadership. The five practices of exemplary leadership include: Model the
way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and
encourage the heart. In the LeadershipChallenge, Kouzes and Posner found similar
patterns and actions of leadership that created the essentials to achieve success.
Utilizing the research conducted by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, I have created a
leadership plan that would apply to the Admission Department at Texas Wesleyan
University. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once I have found my voice, I need to set an example and be a role model to my
team. I think it would be beneficial to create an award system that would allow
people in our department to nominate coworkers who have done an amazing job or
went out of their way to help our department. People who earn the award can leave
early from work on a day of their choosing. Having an award system that recognizes
our staff will reinforce our department s shared values.
The second practice is to inspire a Shared Vision. A leader should be able to
imagine a shared vision for the future. Next, a leader should be able to inspire others
to believe in the common vision. Leadership is about engaging with others to solve
problems. Leaders need to know what values, hopes, and aspirations that their team
wants to utilize for success.
Leaders are able to inspire a shared vision by imagining the possibilities and finding
a common purpose within their team. Currently, my department is trying to revamp
their image. Before I started working at Texas Wesleyan, our department had
developed a bad reputation for accepting the status quo and not advancing our
University to the next level. As a leader, I must listen to my fellow staff members
and initiate a conversation about what we want our legacy to be as a department.
The third practice is to Challenge the Process. As I have mentioned earlier, one of the
greatest challenges in leadership is changing the
Pros And Cons Of The Electoral College
The United States as we see it now, was founded with the purpose of giving everyone
equality of representation in the government. Today, the system that the Electoral
College uses, creates a great deal of inequity that betrays American values of majority
rule, equality before the law, and representative government (Bolinger). The
population of the United Statesis not represented as they should in a presidential
election. The Electoral College should be abolished to create an equal representation
of every individual in the population of the country for a better presidential election.
The Electoral College selects the president of the United States every four years from
a two party final election. The two candidates of the two different parties are
selected after a process of voting in every state. Each state gets, depending on their
population, a number of electoral votes with a minimum of three votes. There are
discussions were the Electoral College is criticized, because there are arguments that
support the idea were people are not being represented correctly on each state, not
letting the individual s votes have the value that they should. A president can get
elected by winning important states and still getting less popular votes than the rival
candidate. How can a president represent the population of a country if the majority
of the population did not vote for that person? And why should a state be more
important than others? Is an injustice for someone that lives
Machiavellian Perception of Reality Essay examples
Machiavellian Perception of Reality
Introduction Written almost five centuries ago during Italy s era of fractious chaos,
Niccolo Machiavelli s, The Prince became the How To book for the effective
acquisition, governance, and retainment of power over principalities. Within the
pages of this political treatise, Machiavelli duly explains the qualities of a successful
prince. However, he also explains how the importance of these very qualities affect
the prince s public image and reputation and how these play a vital role in the
retention of power while keeping others from conspiring and rising against him. The
ideal prince should be virtuous in that in that he should be merciful, faithful, humane,
religious and upright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A respectable reputation is necessary since it parallels public image. The people will
judge everything the prince publically says and does, which will then become his
perceived reputation by those very people.
For this reason a prince ought to take care that he never lets anything slip from his
lips that is not replete with the above named five qualities, that he may appear to
him who see and hears him altogether merciful, faithful, humane, upright, and
religious. There is nothing more necessary to appear to have than this last quality,
inasmuch as men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, because it
belongs to everybody to see you, to few to come in touch with you. Every one sees
what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not
oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to
defend them; and in the actions of all men, and especially of princes, which it is not
prudent to challenge, one judges by the result (Machiavelli, Chapter XVIII, 2012).
Machiavelli also confronts the reputational risks and concern of liberality and
meanness. With liberality, the prince generally leaves the people alone mostly tax
free. Unfortunately, the more generously the prince gives, the poorer he will
inevitably become. Thus, he creates the necessity of taxing the people, which fosters
resentment among the people. However, Machiavelli states that it is better for the
prince to be considered a miser

The Respect of Soldier s Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The
higher one s rank the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military
personnel fall into one of three categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers,
and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant officers outrank all enlisted members, and
commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and enlisted members.
Rank and pay grade are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. Pay grade
is an administrative classification, associated with a member s pay. Rank is a title

insignia heritage to the British. Petty officers were assistants to the officers
aboard ship. The title wasn t a permanent rank and the men served at the captain s
pleasure. Petty officers lost their rank when the crew was paid off at the end of a
voyage. In 1841, Navy petty officers received their first rank insignia an eagle
perched on an anchor. Ratings job skills were incorporated into the insignia in 1866.
In 1885, the Navy designated three classes of petty officers first, second and third.
They added chevrons to designate the new ranks. The rank of chief petty officer was
established in 1894.During World War II, the Army adopted technician grades.
Technicians of a given grade earned the same pay and wore the same insignia as
equivalent noncommissioned officers except for a small T centered under the
chevrons. Technicians, despite the stripes, had no command authority over troops.
This evolved into the specialist ranks, pay grades E 4 to E 7.
The Importance Of Uniforms In School
In many schools around the United States, multiple females are told that their choice
of clothing is inappropriate and distracting to the male students. In some cases, girls
admit that being told to change or being sent home sometimes lowers their self
esteem, especially when the boys are also breaking dress codebut are not getting in
trouble for it. Girls are told that a boys educationis more important than their own.
Even though most young men will admit they are not distracted by the clothing
girls wear, the excuse, boys will be boys is used to disregard their behavior and are
not punished for their actions. Young women are being sexuallized for the
clothing they wear and are being told they need to cover up for the sake of their
safety, instead of teaching young men to control themselves. As women, we are
told to cover our bodies and not show anything that society says is inappropriate
that could potentially distract a boy. On public school campuses, young girls are
told that even the slightest bit of skin is inappropriate. They are told that their
shoulders, mid thighs and midriffs are considered distracting to a boy s learning
environment. Ellen Friedrichs said in 2014, Any confidence and pride she might
take in her appearance is automatically stripped from her when she is dressed
inappropriately. Young girls are being body shamed for being confident in their own
skin. Over 70% of girls ages 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending

Diana with Preserving Fluid in Veins and Savage Bride in an Opera Box:
Wharton s Allusions in The Age of Innocence to Primitive and Pagan Myths and
Beliefs When reading the comment of Archer made on Mrs. Welland s simulation of
reluctance at the time she hears about the engagement of her daughter and Archer,
comparing her action to the Primitive culture in which savage bride is dragged with
shrieks from her parents tent (Wharton, 22). , most of the students of American Lit
must be reminded of the allusion to the anthropology works as The Golden Bough
made by Wharton s contemporary authors such as T.S.Eliot, who happened to have

Her connection with wild nature (both the real, uncultivated nature and the man s
sphere in society without protection), which is a major and substantial
characteristic of Diana that shows her mystical power, is shown in the story by
the impressions she left on Archer. He thought that at a unpruned garden, the
tumbledown house, and the oak grove under which the dusk was gathering seems
to be so exactly the place in which he ought to have found Madame Olenska (103).
When he founds her alone in the publicity, he asked her But what on earth are you
doing in this wilderness (105)? Archer s mentioning of the oak grove is another
specific clue that leads to the identity of Diana, as she is actually queen of the
woods in general and also goddess of the oaks in particular (Frazer, II, 380). Ellen s
first name as the shortened version of Helen might also be an allusion to Diana,
who is also known as Helen of the Tree (Frazer, V, 292). Besides, working in
concert with May s marriage with Archer around Easter, the mutual confession of
Countess Olenska and Archer takes place in middle of August, when Diana s own
day is celebrated (Frazer, I, 12 14) (Scheick, 3). Moreover, the term flower of life
with a little bit of ambiguity and inexplicability kind of resembles the term heart of
life she used in her previous work, which refers to Diana and thus readers could

The War Of 1812 Was A Great Deal Of Curiosity
History has the tendency to cause a great deal of curiosity. For instance, someone
may wonder what the War of 1812 was and what difficulties the United States had
in waging the War of 1812. They also might ponder about why the War of 1812 was
widely viewed as a victory for the United States or how the war lead to an increasing
pattern of diplomatic cooperation between the United Statesand Britain. Our very own
seventh president, Andrew Jackson, has meant a great deal in our history and some
may ask what it was about his presidency that distinguished him compared to his
predecessors, or how he refined the role of the president. Last but not least, there
remains the important question about what factors lead to the increasing production of

Before getting to that point, we must first discuss the events that led to increasing
tensions between the United States and Britain. One of the difficulties that led to the
War of 1812 was because of the failure of economic sanctions. In 1810, congress
had replaced the Nonintercourse Act with Macon s Bill No. 2 in hopes of creating
easier trading throughout the nations. Through this time, and with the replacement
of the Nonintercourse Act with Macon s Bill No. 2, Napoleon had promised to
withdraw decrees against U.S. shipping on the condition that if Britain should not
follow suit, Madison would have to force Britain to respect U.S. rights.
Unfortunately, French seizures of U.S. ships continued and by the time Napoleon s
requests were clear, he had worsened Anglo American tensions. In November of
1810, Madison had reimposed Nonintercourse against Britain which only caused
the two nations to have more conflicts. Another difficulty leading to the decision of
war in 1812 was due to the frontier and Indian resistance. Madison was also pushed
toward a war against Britain because of mounting frustrations in the South and
West. Farm prices plunged when Jefferson s embargo shut off exports, but stayed
low after the embargo was lifted. Much of the blame for persistent agricultural
depression focused on the British and their hold on overseas trade after 1808. As we
can see, Britain and the U.S. had not been on good sides of the other. In fact, western
Horses Are Better Than Pets
On July 8, 2016, Jaycee Dugard sat down for an interview with Diane Sawyer,
where she mentioned that equine therapy played a role in healing her after eighteen
years of captivity, but she is not the only one that realizes the therapeutic quality of
horses. Over two million households own horses. Horses make great pets because
they re easier to care for, are better prepared for dangerous situations, and offer
numerous physical and mental advantages. In this paper, I argue that domesticated
horses are better pets than dogs are.
Owners can care for horses more easily than dogs. First off, horses only have one
foal at a time when they breed. On the contrary, dogs can give birth to several
puppies, causing the owners to stress. Puppies, being ... Show more content on

First, the child invests more effort and time into owning the horse than their parents
do. Children learn more responsibility because they spend so much time cleaning,
feeding, and caring for their horse. Parents have the responsibility of paying for the
animal, which albeit, is an expensive task, but it is not one done in vain. With a dog,
much of the responsibility can be allocated to the parents because they see dogs as
another child or friend that they can pamper. Although this is beneficial for the
parents, it is not teaching their children how to be responsible for live animals.
Moreover, three doctors conducted a study on the effects of horseback riding in
children with spastic cerebral palsy. They found that the studied children s muscle
symmetry improved, rendering other stretching practices useless. Because the
walking gait of a horse mimics a human s walk, the muscles in people s legs get
stretched out. Physically disabled kids can learn to walk again after a traumatic
event or after being born with paralysis. Even mentally disabled children or kids
with autism have been shown to speak and socialize better. All children can benefit
from horseback riding, not just the healthy, normal ones. Furthermore, horseback
riding does not appear to be exercise, but it actually works many muscles of the core
and lower body. According to bodybuilding.com, riding targets the abdominals, the

Harold Arlen Harold Arlen, originally Hyman Arluck, was a composer, performer,
and singer. He is known as a brilliant and extremely skilled composer that wrote
many famous songs still known and sung today; however, his true desire was to be
a performer, and make a career of singing and playing music. He tried to follow this
dream throughout his entire life, but his compositions were his true talent and this
took over much of his time that he would have liked to spend performing. Towards
the later of his life, he focused only on composing music for clubs and motion

It is hypothesized that snakes are capable of leaving pheromone trails for
themselves or their offspring to locate hibernacula because the hibernacula keep
them from freezing in the winter[cite conspecific trailing behavior of red sided

hibernacula.Snakes are often highly selective in the choice of sites for hibernation,
and suitable sites can potentially be a limiting resource(.Pine Snake (Pituophis
Ruthveni and Pituophis Melanoleucus Lodingi) Hibernacula D. C. Rudolph, R. R.
Schaefer, S. J. Burgdorf, M. Duran, and R. N. Conner) Snakes colonize together
and use hibernaculum to escape frigid winters (Macartney et al. 1989; Sexton et al.
1992) and are likely to overwinter to avoid freezing temperatures (Mathies T. and
Martin. J.D 2008) in order to regulate physiological processes after spring
emergence for basking (Gregory 1984). Given the benefits of hibernaculum, in the
off chance snakes do not locate hibernacula is it more like for that snake to run the
risk of not surviving. The high fidelity that snakes display towards specific
hibernacula suggests that hibernacula have unique characteristics which allow them
to be repeatedly relocated and features which may be critical in allowing overwinter

that in order to attain the good life one must live a pleasant existence free of worry
and pain. Through reflection of the concepts in Epicurus s Letter to Menoeceus this

In order to live the good life, one must eliminate all pain and live a life with
maximum pleasure. Unlike other hedonist philosophers, Epicurus evaluated pleasures
by their duration rather than their intensity, making psychological pleasures much
more desirable to physical pleasures. Epicurus, as a consequentialist thought that in
order to achieve the good life, one had to logically assess future consequences of
human actions through rational reflection and evaluation. If one were to rationally
reflect on death they would soon realise that there was nothing but oblivion after
death (de Botton 2000, p. 59).
The Leading Doctrines of Epicurean philosophy state that it is impossible to live
the pleasant life without also living sensibly, nobly and justly, and conversely it is
impossible to live sensibly, nobly and justly without living pleasantly (Epicurus,
1998b, p.53). Therefore, the good Epicurean believes in order to live virtuously,
one must adhere to a pleasurable life. For Epicureans it is impossible to live
virtuously and unpleasantly or vice versa. In addition, Epicurus describes pleasure as
our primary native good (Epicurus 1998a, p. 51), implying that all human actions are
driven by pleasures and by the avoidance of pains. Another imperative concept to
Epicurean philosophy is Epicurus idea of the three fundamental aspects in attaining
pleasure, those of friendship, freedom and an analysed life

A Gradual Decline in Prejudice between Places and People in North and South
Through her characterizations of the two main characters in Margaret Hale and John
Thornton, Elizabeth Gaskell develops a transition from prejudice to love. She reveals
their inner most thoughts through an omniscient third person narrative to allow the
audience to empathise with their feelings. The Characters develop through dialogue
because they dispute over the North and South divide and try to distance themselves
from each other. But despite their prejudices love prevails because of the actions of
good will shown by Margaret, which John interprets to be feelings of love. The
audience is satisfied that they have found a general cause which is... Show more

Mrs Hale had a preliminary regard for the town which was confirmed upon seeing
the gloom of the town. You can t think the smoky air of a manufacturing town, all

the wallpaper or the architecture. The people in the town would make, loud laughs
and jests, particularly aimed at all those who appeared to be above them in rank or
station , Margaret has been alienated by the attitude of the townsfolk, and there is
that element of prejudice because they can see by the way she dresses she is not
of their class. When Mr Thornton is introduced to Margaret there is an initial
prejudice, as the narrator says, He almost said to himself that he did not like her,
before their conversation ended. For Margaret the feeling is mutual, as she
demonstrates by speaking condescendingly of John to her mother. She believes Mr
Thornton s education is responsible for him being in trade, why he can t help that
poor fellow . She talks in a pitiful manner of Mr Thornton being in trade, because of
her prejudice towards tradesmen. The Thornton and Hale family symbolize the
divide of North and South in Gaskell s novel. Mrs Hale criticises her husband s new

Gravity Lab
Gravity Lab The goal of the experiment was to identify the gravitational acceleration
from the recorded distance(cm) vs time(sec) data of a fallen object. The first step
was to graph the distance time graph from the data collected. Upon graphing the data,
the best fit line was identified in order to find the formula of the function. As the data
is representative of a graphical parabola, a parabolic function was utilized to be the
best fit trendline. The function Positon=404.289cm/s^2(t^s) + 44.450cm/s(t)
+4.876cm was identified. In the equation, 404.289cm/s^2(t) represents the slope of
the parabolic curve pertaining to the distance(cm) over time(sec) as the 4.876cm
displays the y intercept in which the function crosses the axis leading to the resulting
curve. From identifying the distance time graph equation, the next step is to find the
velocityof the set data.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in order to find a linear slope of a parabolic curve, the mathematical
equation of distance/time^2 ( pertaining to the data as cm/s^2) is used to produce the

of a velocity time graph by identifying the slope of the distance time graph. Another
best fit line (a linear trendline) was plotted within the newly charted velocity time
graph. The equation identified through the trendline was Velocity=808.578cm/s^2 (t)

the y axis as the y intercept. Additionally, the 808.578cm/s^2 represents the slope of
the velocity time graph in which the acceleration can be
Is Shakespeare Still Relevant Essay
It has been over 400 years since William Shakespeare s death in 1616, and it is
continually debated whether or not his works of literature are still relevant.
Shakespeare not only built a framework for the universal themes of life and human
nature, but he also engaged in a role involved in transforming the English language.
Furthermore, a number of words and phrases spoken today are derived from various
Shakespearean plays. The phenomenon behind Shakespeare remains relevant in our
current society; his works are an essential piece in understanding the themes of love,
loss, betrayal, and tragedy. The essence of Shakespeare s playscan be described as not
of an age, but for all time, according to Ben Jonson.

Films and novels are two sources of media that continue to emphasize Shakespeare
s work in order to highlight certain themes. Two notable portrayals of Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet include West Side Story and Gnomeo and Juliet. The primary
basis of this play focuses upon forbidden love. By adapting this work to film,
audiences are better able to understand the complex message behind such a play. If
Shakespeare wasn t still a relevant component after hundreds of years, authors and
filmmakers would not be attempting to convey his message in order to captivate an
audience.
Furthermore, Shakespeare s relevance is also portrayed as part of national
campaigns. One particular motivational campaign, Pass It On, developed a

The Pros And Cons Of H1 Bulb

Few things are more important in a vehicle than a good set of headlights. Choosing
inferior bulbs for the sake of saving a couple of dollars is a mistake you will quickly
come to regret. If your car is designed for H1 bulbs, you should fit it with the best H1
bulbs you can find.
What Is A H1 Bulb?
The H1 headlight bulb can trace it s roots back to Europe, where it was first
introduced in 1962. The first halogen lamp designed for use in cars and other
automotive vehicles, the original H1 bulb proved to be a controversial invention. So
controversial, in fact, that it was banned in the United States of America and would
not be permitted for use in the country until 1997. Nowadays, H1 bulbs are not only

This means that if you are replacing your headlights, you must purchase a total of
four bulbs, a high and low model for either side. Headlight bulbs only equipped to
release one beam are called single filament bulbs .
Twin filament bulbs are designed to emit both low and high beams from a single
source, so if your car requires twin filament bulbs, you ll only have to spend money
on one bulb for each side. While this may seem more economical, the general
consensus is that twin filament bulbs are nowhere near as powerful as their single
filament counterparts. Single filament bulbs are far more common than twin filament
models, with the latter being very rarely seen outside of H4 bulbs.
H1 bulbs, if you haven t guessed it already, are single filament bulbs. That might
come as a bit of a disappointment if you were hoping to keep costs to a minimum
when replacing your headlights, but it can actually work out more economical in the
long run. Because single filament bulbs offer a brighter and further reaching light,
the risk of an accident is significantly lower than if you were lighting your way using
twin filament bulbs. This means the chances of you having to repair certain parts of
your car are significantly
Wall-E Critical Analysis
Wall E and An Over Reliance on Technology
In the animated film Wall E, a robot named Wall E, designed to clean up Earth after
humans covered it in trash, stows away aboard the Axiom, a spaceship that departed
Earth 700 years prior to the start of the film. Once aboard the Axiom, Wall E must
convince the humans that the Earth can now sustain and provide habitable conditions
for human life once again. A large audience of all ages enjoyed this animated film
because of its lovable and fun characters, engaging story, and interesting setting. Even
though many families love Wall E, the movie gives social commentary on several
issues, including the over reliance on technology, the consumerist nature of modern
societies, and the fear of ever evolving machines.
In the opening of the movie, Wall E watched VHS tapes and played video games
made in the 1970 s, and because of this, he learned how humans behaved and what
they liked before they left on the Axiom. He watched people in movies, singing and
dancing and having an overall fun time. Because of these things that Wall E
experienced, he thought of humans as active, happy, and social people; however,
when Wall E arrived aboard the Axiom, his perception of humanity changed. People
sat in recliners floating a foot off the ground. Each chair had a personal computer and
monitor attached to it, allowing the operator to move, talk, and do almost anything,
all while barely moving a muscle. Most people shown in the movie did not know

Many of us dream of becoming rich to live the life that we always wanted.
However, being rich doesn t mean that you are always financially free. Once you
become rich, you always think that your lifestyle should change and usually it
becomes expensive. There are people who had millions of money, but lost it all in
just a short span of time. Just look at some of the lotto winners who won millions
of pesos and have spent it all in a snap. Since they have a lot of money on hand,
they bought big mansions, luxury cars and go to parties almost every night. They
spent every cent of their prize buying everything life has to offer them. Later on as
time passes by, their money is getting smaller and no longer enough to sustain their
chosen lifestyle. So to avoid the agony of going back to the rags once again, they
resort to debts and all sort of loans out there. This is not what financial freedom is all
about.
Here are 8 reasons why you need to become financially free than just aim being rich:

On April 20th, 1999, two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, walked into their
high school and opened fire killing twelve fellow students, one teacher, and then
finally themselves (Lamb). The nation stood still. At that time, it was considered the
deadliest school shooting in US history. After the mourning and confusion opened
way to questions, the students were closely examined and people tried to make sense
of why these two had planned for over a year to exterminate so many innocent
students and teachers. The Konformist, an anarchist website and blog, released
statements by Bill White of the Utopian Anarchist Party in response to the Columbine

can be of no surprise today that students have struck back with bullets and not

the two young men and their insurrection against the indoctrination machine (

Persuasive Essay On Ocean Pollution
Throughout many decades there has been a huge environmental problem, not only
putting marine life at risk but also human health. Ocean pollution is a big threat to
the habitat and still today we haven t stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into
the oceans. During the 1940 s, a technical service of the Army dumped a lot of
chemical warfare into the sea, believing the type of gas will dissolve in the water
becoming harmless in minutes. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of
fish, it wasn t until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish
floating on the surface. Many people think that oil spills and trash are the only types
of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about chemical, bacterial and thermal
pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or infections, especially
if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink
water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Marine animals are a big part of our
food chain if they carry diseases or toxins we re also in big danger. Today, there have
been many people who have been trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but
they still haven t been able to convince the whole world to end ocean pollution. The
government, instead of wasting money on unnecessary things like building walls or
building more towers and creating more trash they should build trash contractors that
will help with the trash floating around in the seas. There are

Heart Will Go On , premiering in the record breaking blockbuster Titanic that
starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Interestingly, Horner made $800,000 for Titanic (plus
$1.2$ per soundtrack CD sold). Horner was still productive through 2000 s, though
his success wasn t nearly as prolific as the 90 s. Earning himself another three Oscar

House of Sand and Fog (2003) and A Beautiful Mind (2001). Horner continued to see

Ocular Melanoma Research Paper
While researching in depth Ocular Melanoma, there has been a consistent theme
persisting there is not enough research done to find a way to decrease metastasis
percentage and increase survival rate. The current attempts at decreasing metastasis
and increasing survival rate have stayed the same throughout the course of 4 decades.
The current drug, LS2616, is being used to treat Ocular Melanomapatients, but it is
used to late to feel the full impact of the drug. Research and Development
laboratories are working on a faster acting drug, but nothing has been tested on mice
or released to the public. If new drugs could be created, the survival rate of Ocular
Melanoma would increase drastically.

There are two main categories for treatment; radiation and surgery. The choice is
ultimately up to the patient, but depending on the size and location of the tumor,
different treatments work better. Radiation and surgery treatments have both pros
and cons. Plaque radiation therapy is the most common and effective radiation for
ocular melanoma ( Ocular Melanoma Treatment , 2016, para 4.). It can be
distributed either by a machine or by a gold plaque, that resembles a lot like a tiny
bottle cap. Removing the tumor surgically or removing the eye all together are the
two most common surgical methods. If the tumor is small, then just the tumor can
be removed, if it is in the correct location to remove it without damaging any other
part of the eye. If the tumor is large... and cause severe eye pain the whole eye will
be removed, medically referred to as enucleation ( Treating Uveal (Eye) Melanoma
by Location and Size , 2017, para. 8). Once the removal of the eye occurs, after the
patient heals, they would be fitted for a prosthetic eye that matches your other eye.
The artificial eye can move, and resemble a real eye, but the patient will just lose
their vision. Both radiation and surgery can result in sickness, much symptoms like
the flu, and can sometimes lead to the loss of total vision. If the tumor metastasizes
to the liver, there are treatments to try and reduce more metastasis and decrease the
tumor, as well as after/before enucleation to try and stop metastasis. If the tumor is
present, but has not metastasized, the oncologist can prescribe medication to prevent
metastasis. LS 2616, a quinoline 3 carboxamide... decrease in primary and secondary

Inflation in Vietnam

1. OVERVIEW OF ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE IN VIETNAM
Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization in January 2007 and transformed
from a heavily indebted country to a low middle income one in 2010. After
opening up the country s economy to foreign investors, its GDP grew by 7.3% on
average from 2001 to 2010. While Vietnam survived the global slowdown of 2008

Vietnam has experienced persistently high inflation at 23%. The economic growth

Saving becomes more attractive: firms and households are more likely to keep saving
money in the bank rather than spend.
Reduced disposable income: households with a variable mortgage will see a rise in
monthly mortgage interest payments. Therefore, they will have less income to spend.
Overall, the money supply decreased. The decline in money supply causes an
imbalance in the money market. At a given interest rate (i1) and the income (Y1)
there is the excess demand for real money balances over supply. LM curve shifts to
the left. Growth in interest rates causes a decrease of autonomous expenditures
sensitive to interest rates. These autonomous expenditures sensitive to interest rate
are investment and consumption. Equilibrium output of the economy falls to the
level Y2 as described in the graph below.
On open market operations, interest rate rose from 7% to 12% per annual to restrict
the supply of money to the economy. An increase in the interest rate reduces
investment by making it more expensive for firms to borrow money to make
investment purchases and also by increasing the opportunity cost for those who plan
to finance investment projects using their own funds.
The rises in interest rates cause difficult for businesses, especially small and medium
sized ones to access capital, forcing them to
Twisted Pair Video Analysis
Video starts by describing the main difference between Unshielded Twisted Pair
(UTP)
and Shielded Twisted Pair (STP). First the creators discuss about the Electromagnetic
Interference (EMI) canceling capabilities of UTP and STP. However, the way each
one is
designed to cancel the interference is different. EMI can arise from many ways and
from a
number of sources, being either man made or natural. Interference is caused by an
electromagnetic disturbance affecting the performance of a device, transmission, or

The video further describes what UTP and STP is. UTP is very common cableused

Shadow Of The Colossi Essay
You take control of a young man called Wander who has brought the body of young
women called Mono to a temple situated in the forbidden lands. Wander is seeking
an entity called Dormin who possess the ability to bring back her soul from the
dead. The Dormin agree to Wander s request on the condition that he destroys the 16
Colossi that are holding the Dormin captive. Wander agrees to the request and so
begins his journey across the forbidden lands.
To find the Colossi, you need to raise your sword above your head while in a sunlit
area which reflects the light pointing you in the right direction. From there you can
hop on your horse Agro and gallop to each location. Consequently, although Shadow
of the Colossus is an open world game, aside from the Colossi and a few lizards you
can eat to gain stamina, there is nothing in the world to interact with. Essentially you
re tasked with 16 individually boss fights.
Gameplay
Upon meeting the first few Colosi, each of them invokes a sense of fear
predominantly due to their imposing demeanour. All of these massive hulking beasts,
are covered in fur and stone, which you ll use to mount and then climb to find their
specific weak spots. By thrusting your mythical sword into these vulnerable areas, the
Colosi will gradually weaken until their health completely deteriorates and they ...

hindrance to spoil the overall enjoyment you ll have with this latest incarnation, it

Saudi Women s Participation For Public Atmosphere
Saudi Women s Participation in Public Atmosphere
Introduction
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the most influential countries in The Middle
East. It is also a key member of the Gulf Countries Cooperation, amalgamation of
monarchies in the Arabian Peninsula. Saudi Arabia is currently ruled by King
Salman Al Saud was crowned as the King on January 23, 2015. Saudi Arabiais also
the cofounder of The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC),
which plays a significant rule in the global economy. The population is about 30.0
million, one half of which are women. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the biggest and
most crowded nation on the Arabian Peninsula, is the overseer of two of the holy
Muslim cities: Mecca and Medina, where Islam emerged: Those two cities attract
more than 5 million visitors annually.
Municipal election is a new system in Saudi Arabia. The first municipal election
took place in 2005 after the former king Fhad made his announcement. According
to Alghamdy in his research Step towards Democracy: On 10 October 2003, the
late King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz decided to put one half of all municipal council seats
to the vote within a year . The Saudi Arabian Cabinet issued Decision no. 224 to
confirm and widen the participation of the citizens in running local affairs and
decision making (Alghamdy, 2011). Indeed, there was no role for women on this
decision and the following one.
Although women constitute almost one half of the nation, their
Baroque Music Vs Classical Music
There are many ways to distinguish compositions. They can be grouped in different
time periods and genres. For us to know what time period to associate them with, we
must be able to recognize the many characteristics of the different time periods.
There are many time periods of music; two of these musical periods were Baroque
and Classical. Each time period has its own differences. The Baroque period began in
the year 1650 and lasted 150 years. Baroque musichad much ornamentation. One
example of this is George Frederic Handel s oratorio Messiah, No. 18: Rejoice
Greatly . This oratorio has three parts Christmas, Easter, and Redemption. No. 18
Rejoice Greatly is part of the Christmas section. It has a form of da capo aria A B A
. The second A includes a great deal of embellishment. In No. 18 there is a soprano
vocal solo and orchestra. Although the Baroque time period embellishes musicand is
very ornamental, the music of the Classical time period is very simple and is of
proportion and balance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term classic means timeless beauty or refers to something of highest quality.
The music of the Classical period certainly lived up to this definition. New forms
were developed in this time period. An example of this is Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart s Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music), K. 525 Movement I. This
piece has a form of sonata allegro. It is a form that the Classical time period
established. This piece is fast because it is movement I. It is also in duple meter. It
uses a rocket theme and also contains a string orchestra. It has sudden dynamic
changes and a homophonic texture. Along with these little differences, the Baroque
and Classical time periods have some greater differences and
Relationships Between CAR And Tanzania
Currently the relationships between the CAR and Tanzania are nonpartisan.
Tanzania has yet to cause any terror attacks or more of economic problems, but this
aloof between CAR seems to breach the smaller problems of the CAR, though
Tanzania has a stable government for past 1 year, Zanzibar [ the party ] was not able
to eliminate povertyor decrease it in any way nor was it able to establish any kind of
relationship between CAR.
Tanzania and CAR has a lot of potential but this is not being utilized because of:
1.Improper use of resources Funds have been misused on unwanted projects, and
these unwanted project remain unfinished continuously.
2.Corruption and selfishness The officials tend to exploit the poor and the rich refuse
the taxes. There is lack of implementation of laws.
3.Poor infrastructure The roads are not well maintained, lack of electricity in rural
areas due to which production level has fell.
These all problems can be tackled easily but only if the government aids the people.
Some of the ways are
1. It is important that all resources allocated to national programs, projects etc are
used accordingly to attain the required results.
2. Leaders and everyone involved in leading other people should make sure that they

Tanzania has water supply issues, it is very important for Tanzania to keep the river

Gothic Elements In Dracula
It was a dark and stormy night... We all love a good ghost story or horror film, and
these forms of entertainment share some characteristics with the Gothic literature
genre, like ghosts, ghouls, and headless spirits that may haunt the main characters
throughout the story.
Gothic literature has a long history dating back to the 18th century. The term Gothic
originates or comes from the ornate architecture created by Germanic tribes called
the Goths. It was then later expanded to include most of the medieval style of
architecture. The ornate and intricate style of this kind of architecture proved to be
the ideal backdrop for both the physical and the psychological settings in a new
literary style, which concerned itself with elaborate ... Show more content on

Git Up Get Out Tupac Analysis
The inspiration to spark a change in the African American communities has been an
ongoing issue from generation to generation in the United State. People of color have
tried to inspire others within their own communities with several different forms of
art. The African American people born in the last couple of generations has used hip
hop musicto relay a message to their communities. Whether the message is either
good, bad, or indifferent. Many of these hip hop artists use various rhetorical
techniques and devices in their lyrics to persuade their audiences. Rhetoricis defined
as the effective use of words to persuade or influence an audience. In this case the
audience is the African America communities throughout the United States. Tupac s
song Changes and Outkast s song Git Up, Get Out employs three rhetorical devices
logos, pathos, and ethos to persuade the African Americancommunities throughout
the United States to identify their struggles and perpetuate change in their
communities. Tupac uses the rhetorical device of logos to display the reasons why
African Americans must recognize their struggles and submit to radical change in
their communities. In verse one, line twelve of his song Changes Tupac says, Two
shots in the dark, now Huey s dead (Changes, 12). This quote is referring to the
death of the Black Panther Party leader Heuy P. Newton. Newton was killed at the
hand of gun violence by a peer in the black community. This crime can be labeled
Importance Of Gun Laws In The United States
One of the biggest controversies in the United States today is gun control. Along
with guns come gun laws and their purposes. Gun laws are important because they
keep society functioning and strive to maintain peace. A problem in the United
States today is about the Second Amendment and what it represents. Peoples biggest
concern is allowing guns on school campuses. There are different laws for each state
where that is a concern. Most laws that have been passed in those states are about
background checks for the mentally ill. A history of gunlaws shows how we can
improve on gun control. Gun laws have changed dramatically over the years because
of shootings and using guns in a violent way. However, at a national level, policy has
remained unchanged for the past twenty years. After all of the mass shootings over the

These laws have targeted the mentally ill. The first bill to become law was the New
York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 (Safe Act), right
after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The intention of the bill was to
enhance public safety by preventing criminals and the dangerously mentally ill from
purchasing a gun through the use of universal background checks. (Wolf and Rosen
858) Illinois just passed the Firearm Concealed Carry Act in July 2013. This piece
of legislation includes background checks for people with mental health
problems. It also, grants the police the authority to deny an application for a FOID
card or revoke and seize a FOID card. (Wolf and Rosen 860 Residents of Illinois are
required to have a FOID (Firearm Owners Identification) card to legally own and
purchase a gun. Other states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland,
Nevada, and New Jersey require background checks for gun purchases. Even Florida,
Missouri, and Texas strengthened their gun laws in
How Self-Driving Cars Work
Driving a car safely requires complete attention of the driver in order to minimize
risk of accidents. With the fast pace and busy lives of people today, sometimes
risky choices are made, like texting or making calls while driving, even though it is
unsafe and against the law. Calling a taxi to drive you to your destination is a safer
alternative, but could be expensive over time. Imagine being able to safely and
affordably drive to your desired destination while eating breakfast, reviewing business
documents, and/or making phone calls en route. This vision is possible with self
drivingcars, but what consideration must be taken into account to make this a reality?

3]. The car is also equipped with a laser range finder which is used to scan more than
200 feet in all directions to generate a 3 dimentional map area around the car. This
helps the self driving car determine if it is on a road or heading towards the sidewalk.
Four small radars are located in the front bumper and rear bumper to aid in figuring
out the positions of far objects. In addition, the Google car has a camera which is
used to detect traffic lights and help figure out moving objects [Ref. 4]
As a safety precaution, self driving cars need to have some way for passengers to
manually override the autonomous driver and take control of the car in the event a
sensor fails or the car is malfunctioning.
Some Potential Problems and Solutions with Implementing Self Driving Cars
There are some major challenges in getting self driving cars on the road safely.
One problem that has been identified is having the car understand when traffic
signs are not working and a police officer is directing traffic. This has been
identified as very difficult [Ref. 5]. A possible solution is to have police officers
equipped with special transmitters that the car can recognize. This would prevent the
possibility of just anyone on the street making hand signs and controlling where your
car is going.
Another identified issue with self driving cars is that if the car
Harval s Placid Room-Personal Narrative
Boooooooo! Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa! There were 2 things going around in Harval s

probably hear. Due to my dad being so loud, I woke up in the middle of a dream
but couldn t forget my dream since it was very terrifying. It was about me

said my dad. In front of me were just green, lush trees with some animals just
roaming in its fertile forest. This is not very intriguing, said my brother Mayis in a
very firm tone which I thought would lead to him being grounded. By the way,
when my brother gets grounded, he starts crying like a young child who didn t get
what they wanted. As my dad turned the ignition of the car off, we all opened our
black doors and put our feet on the asphalt surface of Wyoming State Park. As I
thought that this was no fun, I had no idea about how much FUN I m going to

my brother and I inspected a flower. Consequently we were going to start fighting
over if it was a rose or not my dad came and gave us each a

  • 2. Imagery in Macbeth Imagery in Macbeth Violence and the bloodshed that results are important symbols in Shakespeare s Macbeth. While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of the outcomes of misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to reflect upon his deeds, even if he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes obsessed with the blood on his hands. Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does not prevent him from continuing violent acts. Marshall Mc Luhan. Macbeth, one of the most intriguing tragedies by Shakespeare, has an extensive use of imagery throughout the play. Hence, they escape from Scotland, Malcolm goes to England, and Donaldbain seeks refuge in Ireland. Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes like, don t shake thy gory locks at me becoming all the more common. The murderers, whom Macbeth had hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head . The imagery of blood is shown in such a way that there is a profuse amount of blood flowing after every murder in the play. These references to blood observe their peak with Lady Macbeth s imagined blood and the battlefield which form a crescendo to conglomerate all the murders performed in the play. Out damned spot. Out, I say! One two! a passing reference is also made by the second apparition to Macbeth, be bloody, bold and resolute . Because blood forms the prologue and epilogue of every murder in the play, it sets the ball rolling for the wave of action in the play. The fact that blood imagery predominates in the play gives the play a tinge of horror. It will have blood, they say. Blood will have blood However, blood is not the only abstract object referred to in the play. Passing references have been made continuously at animals, plants and even garments. Look like

In September, Hitler announces and starts the planning for a major counteroffensive on the Allied Forces along the Western Front through the Ardennes region, which was lightly defended due to the rapid advance of forces and the long logistical routes needed to keep the forward units supplied and operational. On October 8, Generaloberst Alfred Jodl presented Hitler with 5 initial plans for approval, all were rejected. Jodl then submitted 2 additional plans on October 11, with a combination of the two plans being approved. It is shapeless and boundless, rich in expression and emotion, connects everyone together, and is celebrated throughout the span of time. In the 21st century, social media is utilized everywhere because it has made life much easier. For example, it is used for communication, information, and networking. Social media has been influencing the lives of people for quite some time now and it doesn t seem like it will stop anytime soon. Humans depend largely on social media and that is why many are using it to maximize their productivity and efficiency. Education is no exception to this, especially in universities. Throughout centuries classrooms have been filled with an abundance of books and papers but over the past few years, classrooms have integrated social media and technology into the classroom setting. • 11. Reflection On The French Revolution In this Reacting to the Past game, I learned valuable information about the French Revolution. I feel that it was a highly educational experience and I would certainly play it again if given the opportunity. While the contextual information of the game did follow fairly closely to the history of France during the Revolution, some of the actions we took as characters in the National Assemblywere mildly off from what actually occurred in real life. As an indeterminate character, I was able to play a bit of all sides, from the conservative side, to the Feuillant, and even a bit of the Jacobin. Nonetheless, I was still required to speak on behalf of the remainder of the factions before proclaiming my decision. After discovering such things, I spoke in support of the Jacobins and Section Leaders. This certainly did not earn me the favor of the remainder of the people, as these were the outgoing and radical people. Their views presented things such as the end of the monarchy and the destruction of the Catholic church as we knew it. I did not personally read many research articles in favor of their opinions. However, I was able to read some of the writings provided by my peers from their viewpoints. I knew instantly that I had made the correct choice in siding with the Feuillants, as the contemplated actions of the Jacobins would have caused for an uproar within the country itself. This was shown very profoundly with the storming of the Bastille and riots in the streets. My character could not possibly have stood long term for such things. I spoke very briefly on the efforts of these people in one of my speeches and then quickly moved on to find research in support of my final decision. While the Feuillants did hold my heart and my mind from the beginning, I continually found it necessary to support these findings with the words of other great men. These supports were found in the writings of Slave Resistance Studies and the Saint Domingue Slave

Intro: It is difficult to define Nationalism as either inherently destructive or expansionist. It depends on the type of Nationalism and the circumstances in which is arises and how people use or abuse it as an ideology. Heywood defines four main breeds of Nationalism; Liberal Nationalism, Conservative Nationalism, Expansionist Nationalism, Anti and post colonial Nationalism. I believe that modern expansionist and destructive imperialism is a logical consequence of the rise of nationalism and that the liberation of conquered peoples was its unavoidable consequence. In some regions, Europeans exerted complete political authority, in other areas, spheres of influence were established, and leaving the existing governments as puppets, occasionally only economic influence was exerted. Imperialism in Africa created colonies designed to serve the needs of the colonial powers. Colonial boundaries often exacerbated long standing ethnic rivalries. The consequences of expansionist nationalism were destructive and also predictable. Competition between the expanding modern empires, rooted in expansionist nationalism, led to inter state wars, starting overseas in the peripheral territories where these states sought to expand their rule, and it ended, during the 20th century, in gigantic inter state wars at the centre. World Wars I and II brought the defeat of Germany and Italy in comparison with France, England, America and Russia, but all of Europe suffered from war devastation. In this period, the true off springs of nationalism who elevated this school to its highest position and gave it its severest form were

The second practice is to inspire a Shared Vision. A leader should be able to imagine a shared vision for the future. Next, a leader should be able to inspire others to believe in the common vision. Leadership is about engaging with others to solve problems. Leaders need to know what values, hopes, and aspirations that their team wants to utilize for success. Leaders are able to inspire a shared vision by imagining the possibilities and finding a common purpose within their team. Currently, my department is trying to revamp their image. Before I started working at Texas Wesleyan, our department had developed a bad reputation for accepting the status quo and not advancing our University to the next level. As a leader, I must listen to my fellow staff members and initiate a conversation about what we want our legacy to be as a department. The third practice is to Challenge the Process. As I have mentioned earlier, one of the greatest challenges in leadership is changing the
  • 14. Pros And Cons Of The Electoral College The United States as we see it now, was founded with the purpose of giving everyone equality of representation in the government. Today, the system that the Electoral College uses, creates a great deal of inequity that betrays American values of majority rule, equality before the law, and representative government (Bolinger). The population of the United Statesis not represented as they should in a presidential election. The Electoral College should be abolished to create an equal representation of every individual in the population of the country for a better presidential election. The Electoral College selects the president of the United States every four years from a two party final election. The two candidates of the two different parties are selected after a process of voting in every state. Each state gets, depending on their population, a number of electoral votes with a minimum of three votes. There are discussions were the Electoral College is criticized, because there are arguments that support the idea were people are not being represented correctly on each state, not letting the individual s votes have the value that they should. A president can get elected by winning important states and still getting less popular votes than the rival candidate. How can a president represent the population of a country if the majority of the population did not vote for that person? And why should a state be more important than others? Is an injustice for someone that lives

Machiavellian Perception of Reality Essay examples Machiavellian Perception of Reality Introduction Written almost five centuries ago during Italy s era of fractious chaos, Niccolo Machiavelli s, The Prince became the How To book for the effective acquisition, governance, and retainment of power over principalities. Within the pages of this political treatise, Machiavelli duly explains the qualities of a successful prince. However, he also explains how the importance of these very qualities affect the prince s public image and reputation and how these play a vital role in the retention of power while keeping others from conspiring and rising against him. A respectable reputation is necessary since it parallels public image. The people will judge everything the prince publically says and does, which will then become his perceived reputation by those very people. For this reason a prince ought to take care that he never lets anything slip from his lips that is not replete with the above named five qualities, that he may appear to him who see and hears him altogether merciful, faithful, humane, upright, and religious. There is nothing more necessary to appear to have than this last quality, inasmuch as men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, because it belongs to everybody to see you, to few to come in touch with you. Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them; and in the actions of all men, and especially of princes, which it is not prudent to challenge, one judges by the result (Machiavelli, Chapter XVIII, 2012). Machiavelli also confronts the reputational risks and concern of liberality and meanness. With liberality, the prince generally leaves the people alone mostly tax free. Unfortunately, the more generously the prince gives, the poorer he will inevitably become. Thus, he creates the necessity of taxing the people, which fosters resentment among the people. However, Machiavelli states that it is better for the prince to be considered a miser

Before getting to that point, we must first discuss the events that led to increasing tensions between the United States and Britain. One of the difficulties that led to the War of 1812 was because of the failure of economic sanctions. In 1810, congress had replaced the Nonintercourse Act with Macon s Bill No. 2 in hopes of creating easier trading throughout the nations. Through this time, and with the replacement of the Nonintercourse Act with Macon s Bill No. 2, Napoleon had promised to withdraw decrees against U.S. shipping on the condition that if Britain should not follow suit, Madison would have to force Britain to respect U.S. rights. Unfortunately, French seizures of U.S. ships continued and by the time Napoleon s requests were clear, he had worsened Anglo American tensions. In November of 1810, Madison had reimposed Nonintercourse against Britain which only caused the two nations to have more conflicts. Another difficulty leading to the decision of war in 1812 was due to the frontier and Indian resistance. Madison was also pushed toward a war against Britain because of mounting frustrations in the South and West. Farm prices plunged when Jefferson s embargo shut off exports, but stayed low after the embargo was lifted. Much of the blame for persistent agricultural depression focused on the British and their hold on overseas trade after 1808. As we can see, Britain and the U.S. had not been on good sides of the other. In fact, western

With a dog, much of the responsibility can be allocated to the parents because they see dogs as another child or friend that they can pamper. Although this is beneficial for the parents, it is not teaching their children how to be responsible for live animals. Moreover, three doctors conducted a study on the effects of horseback riding in children with spastic cerebral palsy. In order to live the good life, one must eliminate all pain and live a life with maximum pleasure. Unlike other hedonist philosophers, Epicurus evaluated pleasures by their duration rather than their intensity, making psychological pleasures much more desirable to physical pleasures. If one were to rationally reflect on death they would soon realise that there was nothing but oblivion after death (de Botton 2000, p. 59). The Leading Doctrines of Epicurean philosophy state that it is impossible to live the pleasant life without also living sensibly, nobly and justly, and conversely it is impossible to live sensibly, nobly and justly without living pleasantly (Epicurus, 1998b, p.53). However, being rich doesn t mean that you are always financially free. Once you become rich, you always think that your lifestyle should change and usually it becomes expensive. There are people who had millions of money, but lost it all in just a short span of time. Just look at some of the lotto winners who won millions of pesos and have spent it all in a snap. Since they have a lot of money on hand, they bought big mansions, luxury cars and go to parties almost every night. They spent every cent of their prize buying everything life has to offer them. On April 20th, 1999, two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, walked into their high school and opened fire killing twelve fellow students, one teacher, and then finally themselves (Lamb). The nation stood still. At that time, it was considered the deadliest school shooting in US history. After the mourning and confusion opened way to questions, the students were closely examined and people tried to make sense of why these two had planned for over a year to exterminate so many innocent students and teachers. The Konformist, an anarchist website and blog, released statements by Bill White of the Utopian Anarchist Party in response to the Columbine shootings. He stated There is no ballot for young people, there is only the bullet. So it can be of no surprise today that students have struck back with bullets and not through ineffective non violent civil disobedience ( Konformist ). White s salute to the two young men and their insurrection against the indoctrination machine ( Konformist ), is in line with the notion that anarchism can be found in any rebellion against the norm. Winnie, who lives her life to maintain a stable environment for her mentally challenged brother, also manifests anarchy in a very different way. She revolts against her character and in some ways against the role of the Victorian woman. Winnie momentarily breaks character when she kills the man she is serving in return for stability. She becomes the novel s focused anarchist. The only anarchist to correctly carry out such an extreme act to avenge her brother. Literary reviewers such as Colas, suggests that Winnie failed her anarchist title when she took her own life. He compares her to Satan as she shamefully begs Ossipon to care for her after murdering Verloc (Colas). However, in the author s notes,

Ocean pollution is a big threat to the habitat and still today we haven t stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into the oceans. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of fish, it wasn t until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish floating on the surface. Many people think that oil spills and trash are the only types of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about chemical, bacterial and thermal pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or infections, especially if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Today, there have been many people who have been trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but they still haven t been able to convince the whole world to end ocean pollution. In addition, the Google car has a camera which is used to detect traffic lights and help figure out moving objects [Ref. 4] As a safety precaution, self driving cars need to have some way for passengers to manually override the autonomous driver and take control of the car in the event a sensor fails or the car is malfunctioning. Some Potential Problems and Solutions with Implementing Self Driving Cars There are some major challenges in getting self driving cars on the road safely. • 53. Harval s Placid Room-Personal Narrative Boooooooo! Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa! There were 2 things going around in Harval s brain: one was to write a postcard to his friends, and another was to relax in his placid room. Consequently we were going to start fighting over if it was a rose or not my dad came and gave us each a
