Examples Of Narrative Essays
Writing an essay on the topic "Examples Of Narrative Essays" can be quite challenging. While
the subject seems straightforward at first glance, it requires a nuanced approach to select
appropriate examples, analyze them effectively, and present cohesive arguments.
Firstly, finding suitable examples of narrative essays involves extensive research and critical
analysis. It's essential to sift through a plethora of narratives to identify those that not only
demonstrate the desired qualities but also align with the intended message or theme of the essay.
This process demands time, patience, and a keen eye for detail.
Once suitable examples are selected, the task of dissecting and interpreting them begins.
Analyzing the narrative techniques employed, such as plot structure, character development, and
descriptive language, requires a deep understanding of storytelling principles. Moreover,
identifying the underlying themes and messages conveyed by each narrative adds another layer
of complexity to the analysis.
Crafting the essay itself requires careful organization and articulation of ideas. It's crucial to
structure the essay in a coherent manner, providing adequate context for each example while
maintaining a clear and logical flow of thought. Additionally, integrating scholarly insights and
critical perspectives adds depth and credibility to the discussion but also demands thorough
research and citation management.
Furthermore, writing a compelling conclusion that summarizes key points and offers insights into
the broader significance of the examples can be particularly challenging. The conclusion should
leave a lasting impression on the reader, reinforcing the importance of narrative storytelling and
its impact on our understanding of the world.
In summary, writing an essay on "Examples Of Narrative Essays" entails navigating through
various complexities, from selecting suitable examples to analyzing them effectively and
presenting coherent arguments. It demands a combination of research skills, critical thinking, and
writing proficiency to produce a high-quality piece of academic work.

An Essay On Yosemite National Park
I just came back from a camping trip all the ways from Yosemite Nation Park at
central California s, feral Nevada, the mountain range in the US. It was an amazing
trip and I had learned a lot from it. Mostly, I had been awarded that Mother Nature
had created us amazing scenery and left us only one mission, which is to watch
over her creation, in order for it to be last forever. Firstly let me make a brief
introduction about Yosemite National Park. Yosemite National Park had been
created in 1864 and has been the acknowledgement by UNESCO as world heritage.
It is about 3 million kilometres square large, moreover, 95% of it is wilderness.
There are five major vegetation zones which are chaparral / oak woodland, lower
montane, upper montane, subalpine and alpine. So why could we nature reserve
Yosemite National Park you might ask? First and foremost, because of its unique
and spectacular granite cliffs and mountains that had been existent for millions of
years. Granite is a rock that is lightweight and typically used in building, therefore,
it is very valuable. So forth, as we got tonnes of this wonderful rock create an
imposing landscape and so we should protect it. One great fact, do you know that El
Capitan is the largest granite block in the world and it is... Show more content on

Desert Dolphins Research Paper
On Thursday, June 22, the Blythe Desert Dolphins hosted their second home swim
meet, where they competed against the Brawley Sunstrokers and the Holtville
Stingrays at the Palo Verde High School pool. The Desert Dolphins went head to
head with 34 Brawley swimmers and 13 Holtville swimmers. Making a huge
splash in the water, tough competitors from the Desert Dolphins swam hard and did
their best to take home well deserved ribbons in each category. With dynamic
strokes and fast speed, the dolphins glided through the water effortlessly, completing
25 and 50 yards per event. Doing the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and

How Is Grunge Successful
Grunge was not just a type of music, it was a movement and a culture that served as
a voice of revolt against negative changes in 1990 s America. The events and
changes at the time helped make Grunge successful. Events such as globalization, and
the change of Seattle becoming more middle class, built anger towards a corporate
America. The success of Nirvana, which can be attributed to Sub Pop Records and
MTV, made Grungea desired culture, rather than a genre of music. Finally, Nirvana s
success opened the Grunge scene to women and inspired the Riot Grrrl movement.
All of these factors combined made Grunge a successful movement and culture. A
music genre which had been underground shifted to becoming a mainstream success.

As Nirvana s fame grew, they attracted the mainstream, and successfully made
Grunge a much desired culture. Nirvana started in Aberdeen, Washington and was
based in Seattle, Washington. However, the band s powerful message and music
eventually became popular worldwide. Much of Nirvana s success can be
attributed to their humble beginnings, at a small Seattle based record company
called Sub Pop. The band was formed in 1987, and signed its first record, Bleach,
with Sub Pop. Sub Pop had Nirvana open for Mudhoney at Sub Pop s LameFest
showcase in London. After Nirvana s performance, NME, a British music
newspaper named Nirvana as Sub Pop s answer to The Beatles . After receiving
attention in the British press, Nirvana gained attention in the American press.
Nirvana signed its second album, Nevermind with DGC records. The album s first
single, Smells Like Teen Spirit, became extremely popular and was repeatedly
played on MTV. Sub Pop made Nirvana a more well known band, but MTV was a
large part as to why Nirvana became so famous. Kurt Cobain said, I turned on MTV
and there we were, like the Beatles, you know? Like Nirvana mania. Nirvana was an
underground band, and MTV helped bring the band and its music to the mainstream.
MTV s constant playing of Smells Like Teen Spirit catapulted Nirvana to fame. On
Nirvana s seemingly overnight success, bassist Krist Novoselic said, We repelled the
mainstream.

Psychic Perception
Exploring an Amazing Sixth Sense The average human is born with the five
common senses: touch, hear, smell, sight, and taste, but there are a few individuals
who are born with a supernatural sense. One of the rarest supernatural senses that a
human may be born or diagnosed with is a psychic ability. Psychic is defined as a
supernatural or magical power that is viewed as extraordinary. Television
broadcasters, scientists, and other skeptic individuals will interview the people who
possess these psychic abilities. The public questions these individuals abilities for
true or false answers; therefore, they can provide evidence such as an experience or
encounter. Psychic abilities take on many forms such as telepathy, synesthesia, and
telekinesis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people are skeptic about this ability and they are willing to search for proof.
There are videos that show people demonstrating telekinesis or coincidentally
caught on camera. In a video on YouTube, two men were attacking a girl, and she
uses telekinesis to protect herself. After the attack, she turned behind her and
moved a few objects. Some people believed that the video was fake, while a few
others were skeptic. Researchers find telekinesis difficult to prove because it is on
television shows, movies, cartoons, and magic shows. In the 1976 movie Carrie ,
Sissy Spacek played a teenager named Carrie who used telekinesis to fight her
bullies. The filmmaker cast tied wires to the actors and objects to assist the
character. A way for researchers and scientists to prove if telekinesis is possible,
they can choose random people as an experiment to test. The participants can focus
their mind on the objects they are trying to move. People are still skeptic about
telepathy, synesthesia, and telekinesis because the abilities are both odd and
incredible. A common human being can assume that these psychic abilities are fake,
but they are a working progress among skeptic individuals. Only lab research can
prove that these abilities are

The first thing to look at that can explain the difference in productivity is the
productivity of the individual employees i.e. labor. It might be that the employees
on factory 1 are less literate than employees on Factory 2. Illiteracy is one of the
major impediment to productivity and having the same number of employees does
not guarantee the same level of productivity especially if the one lack basic education.
The second factor might be that Factory 2 has had more capital investment than
Factory 1. The capital investment might be in a form of new equipment and
technology and yet this alone does not guarantee improved productivity. There needs
to be continual support and improvement throughout the factory and this might be
happening in factory 2. The capital investment of Factory 2 is more important in a

Industrial use of diamonds
Diamonds is the hardest known natural material in the world. The hardness of this

The Mark Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of
Calaveras...
Imagine sitting at a coffee shop in New York City. The day is November 18, 1867.
A person has just picked up a copy of the Saturday Press, a newspaper which is
known for publishing short stories (Powers). One of the short stories featured in the
newspaper is, Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog , which will soon become The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. by a newly found writer known as
Mark Twain(Powers 154). Twain carries a heavy burden, spurred on by the Civil
War, which ended in 1865 (Gerald 336). After reading the story, all the maladies
brought about from five years of fighting are suddenly lifted.(Powers 154). In Mark
Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, several of literary
themes are incorporated, like creating a tall tale, as well as the ideal of deception,
which Twain continually brings back to the reader throughout the novel. In The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain, his greatest
techniques are his use of characters, setting, conflict, humor, while giving an
interesting point of view.
In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as in many of his other
works of literature, Mark Twain creates many memorable characters. One of the
main reasons Mark Twain does this is to create a believable character. The longer the
character is in the story, the more the reader learns about the character, making the
character become more believable. Easterners of this era held many preconceived
ideas
Cosmological Argument From Motion
To begin, we start with an a posteriori argument, or an argument from experience.
Arguments from experiences of the world to the existence of God are called
cosmological arguments. This particular argument is the argument from motion.
Argument from Motion: P1. Some things are moved. P2. If something is moved to
being F, then it is potentially but not actually F. P3. If something moves a thing to
be F, then it (the mover) is in a state of actuality relevant to F. C1. If something
were to move itself to be F (e.g., be both moved and its own mover), then it would be
both potentially but not actually F and also in a state of actuality relevant to F
(conjunction, modus ponens, P1 3). P4. But it is not possible for something to be
both potentially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond
to one preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a
seeming contradiction between Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first
law of motion, and the Aristotelian definition of motion on which the argument
above rests. The problem may be resolved in two ways. Firstly, to assert that there
is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different definitions of the word
motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion (motion
or change in terms of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with
change of every sort (quality, quantity, substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is
no formal contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher Edward Feser says: Suppose
that motion is being used in the two principles in the same sense. Even given this
assumption, there is no formal contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us
that a body will in fact continue its uniform rectilinear motion if it is moving at all,
as long as external forces do not prevent this. It does not tell us why it will do so.
In particular, it does not tell us one way or the other whether there is a mover of
some sort which ensures that an object obeys the First Law, and which is in that
sense responsible for its

Today we live in an increasingly globalized world. In the United States alone over
60 million people speak a language other than English when at home (Speaking in
Tongues). While most schools require at least two year of foreign language, this is
not really enough to familiarize yourself with a language. It would not only be in the
students best interest to do this, but also the schools as it increases academic
achievement. It also improves your cognitive functions and benefits society. All of
these factors led me to this conclusion: everyone should take at least four years worth
of foreign language classes. Many Americans argue that because English is quickly
becoming the global language, Americans should not have to learn other languages.
They are operating under the following pretenses: there wouldn t possibly be anyone
we would want to communicate with that does not speak English already, other
countries should teach their citizens a second language (English) so that they can
communicate with us, and learning another language is only beneficially if it directly
influences us gaining more opportunities. These biases are misguided. Learning
another language will benefit you for your entire life. It will help you through school,
improve your mind permanently, and create opportunities for you and society. Don t
conform to the American stereotype. Trust me, it is worth your while to learn a
foreign language. Learning a second language begins

The first is external: the challenge posed by its nuclear weapons program and the
threat of proliferation off the Korean Peninsula. The second is essentially but not
wholly internal: the challenge posed by the pending transfer of power in
Pyongyang and potential for instability as the process plays out. This complex
reality underscores the need for balance and strategic patience if the twin dangers of
proliferation and instability on the peninsula are to be successfully managed. In
order to produce these changes in the policy, there must be a determination of the
ends/ goals, ways for achieving the goals, and means as the instruments and
activities for implementing ways. The history of the relationship between the United
States and North Korea led up to today s policy of dealing with North Korea through
diplomatic channels. The U.S. helped to divide the Korean peninsula at the end of
World War II, and then waged war against North Korea in the 1950s. Although the
U.S. signed a peace agreement rather than a peace treaty with North Korea after the
war, its policy toward the country changed. Instead of trying to overthrow the North
Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of containing communism.
During the 1980 s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to take on a
new diplomatic form. North Korea s nuclear weapons program had become a pressing

Vindication Of Woman
The Vindication of the Rights of Woman postulates a revolutionary idea certainly for
the era in which it was published that in the struggle for the rights and equality of
man, one must also give such heed to the rights of women. Mary Wollstonecraft
adheres to the fact that the more specious slavery which chains the very soul of
woman, keeping her forever under the bondage of ignorance is the cornerstone of a
system of female inequality during the eighteenth century. In this essay, I will focus
on the statement:
Would men but generously snap our chains, and be content with rational fellowship,
instead of slavish obedience, they would find us more observant daughters, more
affectionate sisters, more faithful wives, more reasonable mothers in a word, better
citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst not literally true, the symbolic language which Wollstonecraft uses, forces the
reader to understand the man/woman relationship as purely hierarchical; man has
dominion over his wife, his mother and daughter, perhaps even other women.
Wollstonecraft likens the woman as property where all are aiming to procure respect
on account of their property: and property, once gained, will procure the respect due
only to talents and virtue . Such a relationship must seem harsh to the modern reader.
However, Wollstonecraft s dichotomy of husband to wife with owner to slave is
nothing further than the application of household duty. Controversially,
Wollstonecraft believes True happiness, I mean all the contentment, and virtuous
satisfaction that can be snatched in this imperfect state, must arise from well
regulated affections; and an affection includes a duty , referring to the mothering role
of the wife, as the father looks on to appreciate his child being nursed. This duty it
seems, are the chains that render women

scholars, exegetes the arguments, and then explains why their interpretation is
incorrect. Kim first begins with the readings of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. Scholars like

refutes their interpretations of passages in First Corinthians because the terminology
Paul used in First Corinthians is indicative of the evil system of the world and not the
Roman Empire. Kim argues that although the terms may seem to be referring to the
Roman Empire, the Roman Empire is just an instrument being used in the hands of a
more evil force. Elliott s arguments along with Horsley s end up being contradicted
within the epistle itself. Kim ultimately concludes that Wright, Georgi, Elliott, and

Hexane was added with the help of a Pasteur pipette and the sample was allowed to
seep into the silica. Hexane (150ml) was then passed through the column, eluting a
yellow extract which was continually allowed to be re eluted until the yellow
colouration lightened significantly before the addition of the next solvent of higher
polarity. This was repeated for the remaining solvents (ethyl acetate and methanol).
The methanolic extract was concentrated under vacuum using a rotary evaporator,
giving a brown gummy which was stored in the refrigerator prior to use.
2.5. Qualitative Phytochemical Analysis
In order to determine the presence or absence of secondary metabolites, the
methanolic extract was subjected to chemical test tube tests as per standard methods
(Evans 2002; Tasneef et al.,(2013) ).
Detection of Alkaloids
To 2ml of the extract, 3ml of dilute hydrochloric acid was added, and filtration was
performed. The filtrate was then treated with Wagner s reagent. The positive control
used was quinine and a positive result is established by the formation of a reddish

How Is Unemployment Linked With Poverty
Yuvraj Suri Employment How has Unemployment been linked with poverty in
past few years? Unemployment lies at the core of poverty. For the poor, labor is
often the only asset they can use to improve their well being. Hence the creation of
productive employment opportunities is essential for reducing poverty and it is
crucial to provide decent jobs that secure income for the poor. As the rate of
unemployment increases the poverty would also increase as the people s wants
would increase. GLOBAL PRESPECTIVES. The present education system of India
is not serving the purpose for which it has been started. India is the second highly
populated countries after China and this has led to rush and competition in each and
every field. Many private... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No Education or illiteracy. This is a simple and best logic. If a person is educated
there is only a minor chance for him to be unemployed. But in many poor countries
people have to suffer being unemployed. That is why people in many countries
have started projects to stop this poverty. No education means unemployment and
unemployment means poverty. This is a cycle that the poor people go through.
Economic Inflation. Inflation is one of the oldest causes of unemployment. The
economy faces a steep rise in prices as compared to other economies of the world.
This leads to failure in exports as companies are not able to compete with others
due to rise in price. Incomes suffer, people s savings fall and gradually companies
start firing people, being unable to pay them on due time. Thus, the rate of
unemployment increases. Future Scenarios It is obvious that if unemployment
continues to increase in future, Poverty would rapidly increase and this would not
be a good situation for the LEDC S as People would die of Hunger. This can be a
bad state for the future generation as they would have nothing to live for. Desperate
people will resort to crime to have the basic necessities of life. Depression and
illness could be brought on by trauma. The list can go on, This is why People now
have to understand and get their kids educated so that they can have a good future.
Alan Chalmers Use Of The Scientific Method
Science enables critical evaluation of phenomena in the world around us, based on
evidential hypotheses. The use of the scientific method has allowed reliable scientific
claims to be made, leading to the belief that science is rational. A claim made on the
grounds of scientific experimentation is more widely accepted than a statement
perceived to be common sense. However, scientific experimentation cannot explain
the rationality of science. Over time, the theories of philosophy in science have
evolved in an attempt to explain why science is rational.
In 1976, scientific philosopher, Alan Chalmers, presented his view on the scientific
method: Scientific knowledge is proven knowledge. Scientific theories are derived in
some rigorous way from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Predictions of the outcome of an experiment are fundamental to scientific
investigation; induction enables predictions. Therefore, I don t believe that induction
should be totally disregarded, but should be used in conjunction with Popper s
theory of falsification. The disproof and falsification of a hypothesis or principle is
not necessarily a bad thing, and can lead to innovation and further scientific research
and investigation. I agree with the fact that scientific knowledge is based on
falsifiable conjectures and hypotheses, and no rock solid

It was required to brainstorm and identify concepts for a restaurant or food service
operation that we would like to own or run.
These questions will be answered further in the portfolio:
a) The location of the restaurant.
b) The history of the restaurant.
c) The overall theme of the restaurant and how appropriate it is for our market. Also
what would encourage members of our market to find our theme compelling over all

So whether it s the great food and drinks, the educational and historic value of the
unique Jamaican Spanish memorabilia or the chance of meeting open minded people,
JAMALEGRE is a welcomed attraction to the Kingston entertainment scene that
shouldn t be missed.
The Location of the Restaurant
A restaurants location is as crucial to its success as great food service. It influences
many parts of the restaurant including the menu.
A market research was done on the most suitable place fitted for this type of
Restaurant and so
JAMALEGRE RESTAURANT and LOUNGE location is at 115 Old Hope Road,
Liguanea Plaza Kingston 5. This location was chosen on the theme of the restaurant,
the market we are catering for, the parking and accessibility and the population base.
This location is ideal due to the fact that it is in a Plaza were people are everyday.
The location was also chosen based on the other food competitors in and around the
vicinity. Jamalegre is the only Jamaican restaurant with a Spanish twist. It is not
hidden but rather in a central area that is convenient to customers.
What is the overall theme and how appropriate is it for our market and what would
encourage members of our market to find our theme compelling over all other
competitors.
The theme of JAMALEGRE is Jamaican Spanish, casual, fine dining. The restaurant
offers a mixture of Jamaican and Spanish dishes in a casually elegant ambiance. The

The Critique Of Gopinath Mohanty
Gopinath Mohanty stands out from among the novelists of the post independence
generation for his epic saga of a traditional way of life being reshaped by
modernity. His works Paraja, Amrutara Santana and Danapani not only marked the
acme of social realism; they also pushed prose fiction beyond the limits of realism.
G. Mohanty, is considered one of the most significant Oriya novelists of the twentieth
century. He is the first Oriya recepient of the prestigious Jnanpith Award in 1974.
Among his novels published during the forties, the most widely read and acclaimed
novels are Dadibudha in 1944, Paraja in 1946, Harijana in 1948 and Amrutara
Santana, published in 1949. Three of these novels revolve around the lives, customs
and rituals of tribal communities and it is chiefly this element of his fiction which
has earned for him fame and recognition at the national level. Gopinath Mohanty has

Consensual Nonmonogamy
In 2009 the estimated population of people in polyamorous relationships was half a
million. An estimated 4 to 5 percent of Americans, already in relationships, look
outside of their relationships for more love, with their partners permission. People in
[polyamorous] relationships really communicate. They communicate to death, said
Bjarne Holmes, a psychologist at Champlain College in Vermont, in comparison to
the levels of communication in single relationships( New Sexual Revolution ).
Consensual nonmonogamy is a relatively new subject in most relationship studies,
excluding swinging that was popular in the 1970 s as those studies mostly
surrounded white heterosexual couples who did it for fun, and any form of cheating.

Should they have the right to feel safe and happy, no matter their means of getting
there? Maybe if there were more answers to the questions people have, just maybe
then polyamory wouldn t be such a scary thing. For instance, many people question
whether polyamory is all about physical attention. The answer is yes and no. No
because the center attraction to polyamory tends to be the love or the amor and the
focus is mostly on relationships; yes because there are always physical attention
properties in almost every relationship. Another question that is commonly asked is
whether polyamory and adultery are similar or go hand in hand. This is not true,
polyamory is about a consensual love that is equal amongst all three members (
Polyterms Aphroweb). The last question, that is asked quite often, is if someone
supports or is in a polyamorous relationship, are they considered anti monogamy (
The Downside of Polyamory Deborah Anapol Ph.D). No, this is not true. People
can be whatever they want and not have to immediately be apposed of the opposite.

mean they hate Star Wars when in fact they enjoy both and just happen to have a

George bush Essay
I. INTRODUCTION
Bush, George Herbert Walker (1924 ), 41st president of the United States (1989
1993), president at the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Union
of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Bush also organized an unprecedented global
alliance against Iraq during the Persian Gulf War of 1991, but he was less successful
in dealing with U.S. domestic problems and was defeated after one term by Bill
Clinton in the 1992 election.
II. EARLY LIFE
Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts, but grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. His
parents came from wealthy Midwestern families. His father, Prescott Bush, a partner
in a leading Wall Street law firm, was a Republican U.S. senatorfrom Connecticut

In 1964 Bush ran for the U.S. Senate against Ralph Yarborough, the Democratic
incumbent. Yarborough argued that Bush s views were too extreme, and, like most
Republican candidates that year, Bush was defeated in the landslide that
accompanied the victory of Texas Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson over U.S. Senator
Barry Goldwater of Arizona in the presidential election. Bush s strong showing in the
firmly Democratic state, however, won the attention of a former Republican vice
president and U.S. senator from California, Richard Nixon. In 1966, with assistance
from Nixon, an affluent Houston district elected Bush to the U.S. House of
Representatives, and reelected him in 1968.
In the Congress of the United States Bush identified with Republican moderates who
were practical and business oriented, approaches to which his father had subscribed.
He won a coveted seat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee (which
has jurisdiction over financial matters), supported the extension of voting rights to 18
year olds, and voted to abolish the military draft. After two terms, he gave up his seat
in the House to run again for the Senate, expecting to take on his old rival Ralph
Yarborough. The Democrats, however, nominated a much more moderate candidate
instead, former congressman Lloyd Bentsen, who defeated Bush in the fall.
Despite his defeat, Bush was just the kind of
Lt. Cross s Unrequited Love
To be a soldier in war, there are certain requirements one must meet. You need to be
at a specific age limit, you must be a U.S. citizen, and you must have a high school

Perhaps if the requirements did include something along the lines of, must be able
to work under the emotional pressure of the equivalent of a 2 ton elephant, then our

throughout the tale that war was a heavy cross for him to bear. The meaning of the

On July 4, 1776 the American colonies finally broke free from British tyranny; Five
years later on March 1, 1781 the first ever constitution (also known as the articles of
confederation) of the new nation was ratified by the continental congress (The
articles of confederation was adopted on November 15, 1777 but the ratification of
the Articles by all thirteen states was by march 1, 1781) which helped shape the
government. Many people were afraid of another monarch rising to power to
guarantee their freedom they created a government in which states were independent

How Planned was the Soviet Economy Essay
How Planned was the Soviet Economy
As Marxists claim that capitalism is anarchic, planless, inefficient and wastes human
and natural resources , what with the modern advances made by Russia in such a
short space of time, one would assume that the Soviet economy between 1924 and
1939 was meticulously planned and controlled. However, many facts would beg to
differ and instead suggest the contrary.
It is true that institutes of planning existed in Russia in the period concerned. As of
July 1922, VSNKh operated its control over industry by methods of a production
planning character . The institution was responsible for the drafting of production and
disposal plans amongst other things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One must not overlook the timing of the First Plan and brand it an accident. The Left
Opposition had originally proposed rapid industrialization to be the part s primary
priority. Now that they had been defeated the government was able to adopt their
industrialization policies without putting them in power. Industrialization also came
hand in hand with collectivisation as machinery such as tractors had to be produced.
1921 to 1927 were the years of the NEP.VSNKh can be said to have just regulated
the economy during the NEP as opposed to doing anything else. However in all
fairness, it is difficult to even talk about a planned economy between the years of
1924 and 1928, whatever the role of the state planning institutions, as the state did not
run the most effective parts of the economy. The state s ability to plan was greatly
hindered by the fact that it ran heavy industry and not agriculture. Between 1921 and
1927 the state industrial sector stagnated while agriculture flourished in the private
sector.
The 1921 famine had led to a decline in the amount of land sown in the following
year due to a shortage of seed and peasants fit to work in the affected provinces.
However, the harvest in 1922 was of an acceptable standard, with the land sown in
the following year just short of 90 per cent of the pre war level. Although at this time

Wives Of King Henry VIII
The Wives of King Henry VIII William Penn once said, Kings in this world should
imitate God, their mercy should be above their works. This would clearly be the
best case scenario for a king, but King Henry VIII acted directly opposite to this
quote. Henry was a man hungry for power and willing to hurt whoever stood in his
way, he proved this by his extensive history with women. Henry Tudor, most
commonly known as King Henry VIII, was born on June 28, 1491, to mother,
Elizabeth of York and father, Henry VII. Henry was born in Greenwich, London,
England, at the royal Greenwich Palace. He was the third of six other siblings, but
unfortunately only three of his siblings made it through infancy: Arthur, Margaret
and Mary. Because he was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Henry VII did not want his newly formed alliance with Spain to end, so his
solution was to offer Henry VIII in marriage to Arthur s widow. While both King
Henry VIII and his wife Elizabeth were ecstatic with the idea, Henry VIII and
Catherine were hesitant of the idea of getting married ( Tremlett 59). Oddly
enough, King Henry VII died on April 22, 1509, which left Henry VIII to succeed
him as king. Shortly after his father s death, Henry agreed to marry Catherine, as
he claimed that it was the dying wish of Henry VII that he does so. On June 11,
1509, the two were married in a small wedding held at the friar s church in
Greenwich. Exactly twelve days after the marriage, on June 23, 1509, Henry led
Catherine from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey for their grand
Coronation that would take place the next day. Following the coronation ceremony
everyone gathered at Westminster Hall for an elaborate celebration banquet
(Tremlett 61). One year after being married, on June 31, 1510, Catherine gave birth
to a still born, but conceived again only four months later. New Year s Day 1511
was a day to remember; Catherine gave birth to a baby boy whom they named
Henry after his father. This was an obvious reason for great celebrations, and Henry
hosted a jousting tournament as part of the celebrations. However, seven short weeks
after being born, the child passed away. Three years later

The Function Of The Song Beijing Welcomes You By Ke
Zhaolei
Music can be found everywhere in our world and has many different functions. Since
music is universal it is important to understand the way describe music using terms
such as timbre, pitch, rhythm and dynamics as well as keeping in mind the social,
cultural and political roles that music falls into. The song BeijingWelcomes You is a
chinese song composed by Ke Zhaolei for the 2008 Beijing olympics and features
many different artists from Asia. This recorded piece of musicis a representation of
modern day chinese music as well as the incorporation of the Beijing culture.
In the song Beijing Welcomes You , there is a clear distinction that the song is sung
by both female and male artists based on the vocal timbre of the song. The vocal ...

The pattern of the song has a beat that repeats itself at a fixed rate. In addition to
the fixed rate, the song has an accent where one beat is emphasized and this can be
heard by the increased volume of that specific note. Towards the end of the song,
the melodic contour of the song can be described as a descending melodic contour
as the pitches descend from high to low. This is done by the artist holding out their
voices for a lengthened amount of time. Furthermore, the phonic structure of this
piece can be described as a monophonic piece. Monophony means that the performers
play the same pitches with the same rhythms. Even though the song incompasses a
wide varitey of instruments, the rhythm of the song stays relatively the same
Another important aspect of the song is the dynamics. The beginning of the song
can be classified as a crescendo because of the increased musical sound from the
instruments, however, towards the end there is a decrescendo as the volume falls off
and the artists holds on and extends the last note. The crescendo in the beginning of
the song is interesting to note because the song starts off acapella and gradually the
volume begins to increase when the first musical instrument comes into play. Last but
not least, this piece of music contains a lot of repetition. The vocal repetition of the
songs title serves as a

business climate is the PEST analysis which stands for Political, Economic, Social

(Tanner, 2015, p. 35) The offering subsection is where the details of the offering
are laid out. These details include the intended benefits, features, bundled services,
warrantees, and any other support such as technical training. (Tanner, 2015, p.
346) Any combination of these features and services can be combined and utilized
to create value for a specific consumer base. The definition of the offering should
be provided for each customer segment outlined in the market section. Businesses
should put forth considerable effort to define the offering for the simple fact that
each section of the organization that will work on the product will consult the
marketing plan for the details. Based upon the offering and the overall strategy and
market conditions, the price will need to be set. If the company is utilizing channel
partners, they may want to consider a cost plus pricing model when making deals.
This approach allows the company to make profits when costs are somewhat
variable. (Tanner, 2015, p. 331) The company may also consider a high initial price
for the product either to convey status (prestige pricing) or as a skimming approach
to recoup any research costs. (Tanner, 2015, p. 330 331) Depending on the channel
choices, the company may use one or more pricing methods. Knowing how many

In today s business scenario, leadership teams are shrinking. That means fewer

The second most frequent source of business aircraft services is charter flights.
Charter is very flexible and can be especially effective in supporting specific
purposes. Less connectivity to many emerging markets like eastern Europe renders
the commercial flights a highly unlikely mode for the business traveler. Several
reputable companies have geared up to meet that need. Global Aviation, based in
Singapore, is working closely with China Southern Airways to provide access to 80
destinations within the People s Republic of China. In 1996, Jet Aviation opened full
service facilities in Singapore. Dassault Falcon Jet is also involved in Hong Kong
based charter services that support Pacific rim business travelers.
The other main concern about using charter services is the cost. Charter services
are usually more expensive than the airlines or the use of comparable business
aircraft for a specific trip. However, they are a lot less expensive than owning an
aircraft for a hundred hours or so of use per year.
The third business aircraft access option is the fastest growing segment of business
aviation: fractional aircraft ownership. Fractional share ownership is what its name
implies: You can buy as little as an eighth of an aircraft, with an allocation of 100
passenger hours of use. The costs include the initial capital investment, monthly fixed
charges and per flight hour charges.
In view of the above stated needs of the consumer, the Gulfstream Aerospace plans to

First, students find the average temperature of the solvent by averaging the two
temperatures found with the test tube with only the t butyl alcohol. Students then
find the freezing point of the t butyl alcohol and the unknown mixture through
using an equation that goes Temp =(m2b1 m1b2)/(m2 m1). From our lab group
experiment, the average temperature of the pure t butyl alcohol was 23.1 degrees
Celsius and the mixture was 12.0 degrees Celsius. After finding the two
temperatures, we subtracted the average temperature of the t butyl alcohol and the
freezing point of solution to get 11.1 degrees Celsius. Then, we divided the 11.1
by 8.37 В°C/m to get the molality, which was 1.32616 m. Afterwards, we found the
moles of solute by multiplying the kilograms of the t butyl alcohol (0.01898 kg) by
the molality to get 0.025170 moles. To find the molar mass, you divide the mass of
the unknown by the moles of the unknown. When our group did these steps, we got

Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five, Billy Pilgrim...
In today s world we question the problem of free will and it s understanding. Is the
nature of humanity characterized by the ability to chose for oneself or through our
understanding of physical laws. Is there any room for individuality when and if the
world operates under these fundamental laws or whether God has already created a
path for us to follow? When this question comes up people tend to want to forget
about it. Kurt Vonnegutabjects this illusion of free will in his novel by his use in
characters and having free will. In Slaughterhouse five, Billy Pilgrim question the
Tralfamadorians, Why me? Their response is simply, ...There is no why. The
Tralfamodorians exemplify the role of the other that marks free will as a distinctly
a human characteristic. Billy use s this as a means to cope with the reality that
pain and suffering is a guarantee. Vonnegut repetition of the phrase So it goes ,
supports that free will is question with no answer and desensitizes the major
suffering and deaths throughout the novel. All of the events in his life were simply
uncontrollable and he was able to travel throughout various events in his life easily.

Things are heating up in America. People are protesting outside of the movie
theaters, concerts, and book and record stores of this great nation everywhere. What
is all the fuss about? Censorship, Government officials, and raving mad protesters
alike have been trying to stop the expressive creativity in everything from rap musicto
Mark Twain.
Censorship in music is a topic that has brought about much controversy in the past
two decades. There have been many different arguments on the topic, however the
question still remains as if it should be censored or it should not be censored. In
Paul Blanshard s book The Right To Read: The Battle Against Censorship, he speaks
of censorship as a negative boundary on society. Blanshard argues that ... Show more

In order to fully understand perverse modernism , the power of the
material being viewed must be analyzed. Negative material can appeal to people
because
viewing negative material draws the attention of people by appealing to their deepest
emotions, such as fear, excitement, and curiosity. It appeals to the emotions of
a wide range of people. For the youth, the simple fact that the topic is taboo is reason
enough for engagement. The curiosity of the youth about the forbidden is satisfied,
and
they learn to manage anxiety and defeat fear by distorting and exaggerating reality. At
the
same time, they bond with others, story tellers, and peers by sharing intense emotional
experiences. People continue to watch or listen to material that offends them because
the
satisfaction they receive from it outweighs the costs. Some artists and musicians use
vulgar words and imagery because they think that they can not express their pain
without
the use of those words. While the other majority of musicians and artists intentionally
use
negative images and words because they fully aware of the perverse modernism
characteristic and chose to profit from it. Many artists feel that negative publicity is
still
publicity and is worth obtaining.
Perverse modernism is becoming a phenomenon in society as more and more
people feel the need to view and profit from negative material. Martha Bayles

Pain Assessment In Jonah
Professor Kosla and class,
Jonah is a 5 year old boy complaining of a leg pain 3/5 and does not remember of
injuring his leg. Even though there is no sign of visual injury I would do a thorough
pain assessment. Before we do a table top examination we can ask Jonatan to hop on
one foot or jump? I would use PQRST to obtain more information regarding pain
assessment (CCCN, 2016.) The questions I would include are: what precipitated
the pain? What makes it worse or better? If he has any pain right now? How does it
feel like? Does he feel more pain or less pain than before? Tell Jonatan to point where
in the body he feels the pain? Ask him if he feels pain anywhere else except the leg?

Sitting together with their parents helps they feel more secured. Gaining their trust
and using their language like sore, hurt, ouch would help with the questions. Using
dolls and puppets to demonstrate the assessment would also be a good tool to gain
their trust. Ask easy questions about their age, class, teacher to start the conversation
and then to proceed with the assessment. Ask the kids to show their hands and feet
first, because they like to show their feet and hands according to Jarvis, 2016.
Explain to the child what you are going to do before you touch him. This will
decrease his anxiety and facilitate the visit.
Children musculoskeletal system is still growing vs. adults where the growth is
complete. Long bones grow in diameter by deposition of new bony tissue around the
shafts and in length which occur at the growth plates. According to Jarvis 2016, any
trauma or infection at the growth plates puts the child at risk for bone deformity.
Jonah s plan of care we should include: pain reliever such as Tylenol or Motrin, an
ice pack to relieve the pain if there is swelling, and an XRay to the affected limb to
rule out any possible injury especially if any swelling involved. Teaching parent to
further monitor Jonatan for any changes such as increase in pain, swelling, fever or

Pharmaceutical Industry and The Manipulation of Clinical...
For as long as civilization has existed, humans have been looking for ways to
advance in the field of medicine in order to cure illness and elongate the human
lifespan. This has led to many positives such as ground breaking new discoveries,
inventions, and vaccines. One aspect of medicine that has grown dramatically in the
past decade is the pharmaceutical industry. The pharmaceuticals are responsible for
the manufacturing and the distributing of medicine in the form of drugs. While the
drugs main purpose is to help the sick, you cannot say the same for the
pharmaceutical industry. Unfortunately, the pharmaceuticals discovered that the
more we advance in the field of medicine, the more money there is for the taking. The

When pharmaceutical companies manipulate data, it means that they change the
results from the research to their favor just in order to get their new drug approved
by the FDA. There are several ways pharmaceutical companies manipulate data in
order to yield favorable results. The company s drug maybe compared with
another drug administered at a dose so low that the company s drug looks more
powerful. Or a drug that s likely to be used by older people will be tested in young
people, so that side effects are less likely to emerge. The standard practice of
comparing a new drug with a placebo, when the relevant question is how it compares
with an existing drug, is also misleading. (Espejo) Sometimes, pharmaceuticals will
straight up lie in their research results, because there is no way for the FDA to check
thoroughly. Many pharmaceutical companies have sponsors that have significant
influence over government personnel within the FDA, and many times they use their
influence to get FDA members to look the other way (Rodwin). The main reason that
these pharmaceutical companies manipulate data is to increase their profit. Company
managers have strong financial incentives, in the form of stock options and bonuses,
to get drugs approved and widely marketed (Brown). This is all with disregard to the
quality of the drug in question. This means that pharmaceutical companies will rush
to manipulate

Actually, this forecast was the same as the latest estimate of 1999 actual litre sales.
Since the 2000 budget was being done in October of 1999, final figures for 1999
were not yet available. The latest revised estimate of actual litre volume for 1999 was
thus used. Rather than trying to get too sophisticated on the first attempt at
budgeting, Mr. Peterson had decided just to go with 1999 s estimated volume as
2000 s goal or forecast. He felt that there was plenty of time in later years to refine
the system by bringing in more formal sales forecasting techniques and concepts.
This same general approach was also followed for variable product standard costs and
for fixed costs.
Budgeted costs for 2000 were just expected 1999 results, adjusted for a few items

The Iran Hostage Crisis
The late 20th century was a very turbulent time in American history. In 1976, Jimmy
Carter was elected to the presidency, and he had many goals to help better America.
However, on November 4th, 1979, a group of radical students seized the United
States embassy in Tehran, Iran. This completely altered the course of American
history and relations with the Middle East. This crisis had many impacts on the
United States. It caused the Energy Crisis which in turn caused the Recession of
1979. The IranHostage Crisis also had political consequences for President Carter. It
was a major factor that contributed to him losing the election of 1980 to Ronald
Reagan. Additionally, this crisis led to many instances of racial discrimination toward

Carter responded to the seizure of the embassy and the taking of hostages by
applying diplomatic and economic sanctions on Iran. Ten days after the start of
the crisis, President Carter froze about $8 billion of Iranian assets. However, this
did not rattle Khomeini, it empowered him. It was at this point that it was realized
that a solution to this crisis would be harder than anticipated. Ayatollah Khomeini
issued a set of demands in exchange for the hostages. First, the Shah must be
returned to Iran to be put on trial. Second, the U.S. needed to issue an apology for
previous American actions, and third the U.S. had to promise not to interfere in
Iranian politics in the future. As expected, Carter did not comply with these
demands. He tried to work out diplomatic negotiations with Iran using a third party,
but those negotiations fell through (The Associated Press). President Carter was
criticized heavily for not doing more to resolve the Hostage Crisis. Since Carter
saw that a diplomatic solution was not going to come soon, he decided that the
only way to solve the situation was by force. He employed a secret operation
known as Operation Eagle Claw. The plan was to land helicopters and planes outside
of Tehran, and then they would make their way to the embassy to rescue the
hostages. However, the mission was a complete failure; a dust storm caused a
helicopter to crash into one of the planes, killing eight service members.

Humans Are Not All Good or All Bad The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression
and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people. Martin
Luther King, Jr. In the past couple of weeks in class we have been reading Kindred

woman by the name of Dana who goes back in time and time travels back to the
1800 s. She meets some of her ancestors and makes friend with them. There is
Rufus, Alice, Nigel, Sara, Tom Weylin and, Margret Weylin. So many break people

should use one like that on you, I said, before you burn the house down (21). In
this quote Dana is yelling at Rufus for trying to burn the house down. Rufus was
going to continue and watch it and try to kill himself in it too all because he was
mad at his dad. There the. The boy pointed upward. There was a tree limb hanging
above us. A broken tree limb (59). Nigel just told Kevin and Dana where Rufus
came down from. Dana and Kevin then told him to go and get Weylin. Also this
shows how much danger Rufus is getting himself into. He began to cough and mutter
and I realized that he was either drunk or sick (198). This is an amazing quote to
show that Rufus was trying to make himself feel better even though he was hurting

Canadian Culture
To understand if the U.S. Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by genuine
desire to protect Canadian culture, I feel like you have to understand the Canadian
people and their way of life. I do believe that his was more of a culture protection
move than an economical move. The Canadians in my opinion do not want a United
Statesof America state but they want to be country that has their own morals and
views. I feel that this move tried to protect the way of thinking and that those
magazines only opened the door for Canadians to becoming more Americanized.
However, that being said, some part of it was because of the financial structure, and
probably pressure placed by competitive Canadian magazines that had to deal with
profit loss due to the American magazines entering the country.... Show more content

Now how they tried to sell it to the public and the lawmakers was probably the
culture aspect on what the American magazines are doing to the Canadian culture.
And from what I see here in the United States and the grueling TV series such as
Cops or the misguiding reality TV shows such as the Kardashians, is a prefect tool to
use to argue on what Americanization is bringing to the table and why abiding
citizens of Canada shouldn t view it. Thinking about it more depth, just one show of
the Kardashians should be enough to stop any culture from banning reality TV shows

Urban Sprawl Essay
Introduction
An emerging issue is that of urban sprawl. While some aspects of urban sprawl has
been seen since ancient times, this phenomenon has started gaining the most
momentum in the past century, aided by the advancement of technology, especially
with the rise of mass produced automobiles, houses and highway systems. Many
people unknowingly contribute to this environmental problem, as is the nature of it.
Urban sprawl deals with the growth of the suburbs, the area between the urban and
rural areas of a city. Most of America s largest cities and states, in terms of
population, are prime examples of urban sprawl. Opponents of urban sprawl usually
cite the government as a major cause of sprawl. The government may be a major

The wealthiest often would have the most space in the city, while the class directly
below them would be cramped within the city yet separate from the wealthiest of
them all. This cramped lifestyle was not very pleasing to majority of the population,
yet many chose to live there because of necessity. The outsides of the city walls,
known as the suburbia, housed the people that could not afford life inside the city.
Despite poor dwellings in the suburban areas, people still praised and wrote about the
pleasant suburban life, as they could escape the atrocious, cramped and
uncomfortable city. The sprawling of the urban population became more apparent in
London a few centuries after the fall of the Roman Empire, where people now had
money to build or buy houses outside the city limits. These areas were much cleaner
and quieter than the main city, similar to the characteristics of cities in Rome.
(Bruegmann)
In America, sprawl became much more noticeable in the 1950s. The first noticeable
and prominent example of the growth of the suburbs in America is Levittown, built in
1948 on Long Island, New York. This community was advertised and intended for
post war America and for returning veterans and their families. Americans perceived
it to be a new and cheap housing community, and the houses and communities were
attractive to the new residents, with many of them coming from urban areas (Hales).
People sought to escape the
Common Carriers Research Paper
Just like every other industry, trucking has its own jargon, which can be confusing to
newbies and outsiders alike. One area of confusion pertains to the different types of
carriers that operate on the nation s roadways, hauling everything from food to
consumer goods and even hazardous materials. So, just what are private, common,
contract and independent carriers, what attributes do they share, and what sets them
apart? Commonalities The most obvious common trait that every type of carrier
shares is that they transport some type of cargo, usually with large semi trucks and
trailers. They employ drivers that hold, at a minimum, a commercial drivers license
(CDL) and sometimes require specially trained drivers, such as those with a
HAZMAT endorsement. They are all subject to the same federal... Show more content

They are, in effect, consolidation shippers. What that means is they accept
products from multiple providers that are being shipped to a similar destination.
Perhaps the most recognizable common carriers are companies like FedEx and
UPS. Contract Carriers This type of carrier serves a specific market segment, such
as those needing flatbed trucks for the transportation of construction materials and
equipment. This is advantageous to companies who require a reliable delivery
schedule and specialized equipment. An excellent example of this type of carrier is
CT Transportation, which specializes in flatbed loads for the construction industry.
Independent Carriers The final type of carrier is an independent. This refers to a
person that owns and operates their own equipment and provides delivery services.
Very often, they are specialists in a specific type of cargo, or load. Most times there
is only one driver and truck, although independents do sometimes band together to
provide more delivery options for
Sociological Perspectives And Trends Of Health And Illness
M2 Use different sociological perspectives to discuss patterns and trends of health
and illness in two different social groups. D1 Evaluate different sociological
explanations for patterns and trends of health and illness in two different social
groups. Introduction In this assignment I will be writing about two sociological
perspectives and discus there patterns and trends of health and illness to two social
groups. The black report was published in 1980, and it included different facts
about how health can be improved from all different backgrounds in different
social groupings. There is still a co relation between social class and infant
mortality rates, life expectancy and inequalities in the use of medical services.
This report looked at the differences between health and illness. Sociologists from
this very day still use the black report to look at inequalities of health because it
was that significant and powerful. Different researches do believe that there is a
link between social class and health. It is a statistical impression and also it has
been argued that there isn t really a pattern in social class, age and peoples
employment that has had an impact on people s health inequalities. Statistical
artefact is a connection that shows how different systems have been used and
measured. lower class have a much higher morbidity and mortality rates which are
compared with the higher class that only work in offices or as a doctors. Researchers

How Is Conflict Presented In Lord Of The Flies

slow development of conflict in Lord of the Flies reflects ideas relating to the
authenticity of society and civilisation. This is revealed through the characters quick

Jack is initially depicted as a strong willed yet disciplined schoolboy but rapidly
transforms into a brutal savage, adopting depraved values in favor of his old,

conflicts with the other characters representing the positives of civilisation such as

between good and evil is rendered immediately when Jack joins the group in the

Since these low income individuals do not have the means to give large amounts

to a Congress that is not a true representative of the broad interests across the

topics, wealthy Republican or Democratic super PACs are not likely to back them.
This has caused more gridlock in Congress as many members are not willing to

It was an amazing trip and I had learned a lot from it. Mostly, I had been awarded that Mother Nature had created us amazing scenery and left us only one mission, which is to watch over her creation, in order for it to be last forever. Firstly let me make a brief introduction about Yosemite National Park. Yosemite National Park had been created in 1864 and has been the acknowledgement by UNESCO as world heritage. It is about 3 million kilometres square large, moreover, 95% of it is wilderness. There are five major vegetation zones which are chaparral / oak woodland, lower montane, upper montane, subalpine and alpine. So why could we nature reserve Yosemite National Park you might ask? First and foremost, because of its unique and spectacular granite cliffs and mountains that had been existent for millions of years. Granite is a rock that is lightweight and typically used in building, therefore, it is very valuable. So forth, as we got tonnes of this wonderful rock create an imposing landscape and so we should protect it. One great fact, do you know that El Capitan is the largest granite block in the world and it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. How Is Grunge Successful Grunge was not just a type of music, it was a movement and a culture that served as a voice of revolt against negative changes in 1990 s America. The events and changes at the time helped make Grunge successful. Events such as globalization, and the change of Seattle becoming more middle class, built anger towards a corporate America. The success of Nirvana, which can be attributed to Sub Pop Records and MTV, made Grungea desired culture, rather than a genre of music. Finally, Nirvana s success opened the Grunge scene to women and inspired the Riot Grrrl movement. All of these factors combined made Grunge a successful movement and culture. A music genre which had been underground shifted to becoming a mainstream success. Grunge is a subgenre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Nirvana s fame grew, they attracted the mainstream, and successfully made Grunge a much desired culture. Nirvana started in Aberdeen, Washington and was based in Seattle, Washington. However, the band s powerful message and music eventually became popular worldwide. Much of Nirvana s success can be attributed to their humble beginnings, at a small Seattle based record company called Sub Pop. The band was formed in 1987, and signed its first record, Bleach, with Sub Pop. Sub Pop had Nirvana open for Mudhoney at Sub Pop s LameFest showcase in London. After Nirvana s performance, NME, a British music newspaper named Nirvana as Sub Pop s answer to The Beatles . After receiving attention in the British press, Nirvana gained attention in the American press. Nirvana signed its second album, Nevermind with DGC records. The album s first single, Smells Like Teen Spirit, became extremely popular and was repeatedly played on MTV. Sub Pop made Nirvana a more well known band, but MTV was a large part as to why Nirvana became so famous. Kurt Cobain said, I turned on MTV and there we were, like the Beatles, you know? Like Nirvana mania. Nirvana was an underground band, and MTV helped bring the band and its music to the mainstream. MTV s constant playing of Smells Like Teen Spirit catapulted Nirvana to fame. On Nirvana s seemingly overnight success, bassist Krist Novoselic said, We repelled the mainstream.

  • 7. Psychic Perception Exploring an Amazing Sixth Sense The average human is born with the five common senses: touch, hear, smell, sight, and taste, but there are a few individuals who are born with a supernatural sense. One of the rarest supernatural senses that a human may be born or diagnosed with is a psychic ability. Psychic is defined as a supernatural or magical power that is viewed as extraordinary. Television broadcasters, scientists, and other skeptic individuals will interview the people who possess these psychic abilities. The public questions these individuals abilities for true or false answers; therefore, they can provide evidence such as an experience or encounter. Psychic abilities take on many forms such as telepathy, synesthesia, and telekinesis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people are skeptic about this ability and they are willing to search for proof. There are videos that show people demonstrating telekinesis or coincidentally caught on camera. In a video on YouTube, two men were attacking a girl, and she uses telekinesis to protect herself. After the attack, she turned behind her and moved a few objects. Some people believed that the video was fake, while a few others were skeptic. Researchers find telekinesis difficult to prove because it is on television shows, movies, cartoons, and magic shows. In the 1976 movie Carrie , Sissy Spacek played a teenager named Carrie who used telekinesis to fight her bullies. The filmmaker cast tied wires to the actors and objects to assist the character. A way for researchers and scientists to prove if telekinesis is possible, they can choose random people as an experiment to test. The participants can focus their mind on the objects they are trying to move. People are still skeptic about telepathy, synesthesia, and telekinesis because the abilities are both odd and incredible. A common human being can assume that these psychic abilities are fake, but they are a working progress among skeptic individuals. Only lab research can prove that these abilities are
  • 8. Unit 2 Research Paper The first thing to look at that can explain the difference in productivity is the productivity of the individual employees i.e. labor. It might be that the employees on factory 1 are less literate than employees on Factory 2. Illiteracy is one of the major impediment to productivity and having the same number of employees does not guarantee the same level of productivity especially if the one lack basic education. The second factor might be that Factory 2 has had more capital investment than Factory 1. The capital investment might be in a form of new equipment and technology and yet this alone does not guarantee improved productivity. There needs to be continual support and improvement throughout the factory and this might be happening in factory 2. The capital investment of Factory 2 is more important in a sense that you still need to train employees on the new equipment and being illiterate is major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Mark Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of Calaveras... Imagine sitting at a coffee shop in New York City. The day is November 18, 1867. A person has just picked up a copy of the Saturday Press, a newspaper which is known for publishing short stories (Powers). One of the short stories featured in the newspaper is, Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog , which will soon become The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. by a newly found writer known as Mark Twain(Powers 154). Twain carries a heavy burden, spurred on by the Civil War, which ended in 1865 (Gerald 336). After reading the story, all the maladies brought about from five years of fighting are suddenly lifted.(Powers 154). In Mark Twain s The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, several of literary themes are incorporated, like creating a tall tale, as well as the ideal of deception, which Twain continually brings back to the reader throughout the novel. In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain, his greatest techniques are his use of characters, setting, conflict, humor, while giving an interesting point of view. In The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, as in many of his other works of literature, Mark Twain creates many memorable characters. One of the main reasons Mark Twain does this is to create a believable character. The longer the character is in the story, the more the reader learns about the character, making the character become more believable. Easterners of this era held many preconceived ideas
  • 10. Cosmological Argument From Motion To begin, we start with an a posteriori argument, or an argument from experience. Arguments from experiences of the world to the existence of God are called cosmological arguments. This particular argument is the argument from motion. Argument from Motion: P1. Some things are moved. P2. If something is moved to being F, then it is potentially but not actually F. P3. If something moves a thing to be F, then it (the mover) is in a state of actuality relevant to F. C1. If something were to move itself to be F (e.g., be both moved and its own mover), then it would be both potentially but not actually F and also in a state of actuality relevant to F (conjunction, modus ponens, P1 3). P4. But it is not possible for something to be both potentially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond to one preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a seeming contradiction between Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first law of motion, and the Aristotelian definition of motion on which the argument above rests. The problem may be resolved in two ways. Firstly, to assert that there is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different definitions of the word motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion (motion or change in terms of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with change of every sort (quality, quantity, substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is no formal contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher Edward Feser says: Suppose that motion is being used in the two principles in the same sense. Even given this assumption, there is no formal contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us that a body will in fact continue its uniform rectilinear motion if it is moving at all, as long as external forces do not prevent this. It does not tell us why it will do so. In the United States alone over 60 million people speak a language other than English when at home (Speaking in Tongues). While most schools require at least two year of foreign language, this is not really enough to familiarize yourself with a language. It would not only be in the students best interest to do this, but also the schools as it increases academic achievement. It also improves your cognitive functions and benefits society. All of these factors led me to this conclusion: everyone should take at least four years worth of foreign language classes. Many Americans argue that because English is quickly becoming the global language, Americans should not have to learn other languages. They are operating under the following pretenses: there wouldn t possibly be anyone we would want to communicate with that does not speak English already, other countries should teach their citizens a second language (English) so that they can communicate with us, and learning another language is only beneficially if it directly influences us gaining more opportunities. These biases are misguided. Learning another language will benefit you for your entire life. It will help you through school, improve your mind permanently, and create opportunities for you and society. Don t conform to the American stereotype. Trust me, it is worth your while to learn a foreign language. Learning a second language begins

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is external: the challenge posed by its nuclear weapons program and the threat of proliferation off the Korean Peninsula. The second is essentially but not wholly internal: the challenge posed by the pending transfer of power in Pyongyang and potential for instability as the process plays out. This complex reality underscores the need for balance and strategic patience if the twin dangers of proliferation and instability on the peninsula are to be successfully managed. In order to produce these changes in the policy, there must be a determination of the ends/ goals, ways for achieving the goals, and means as the instruments and activities for implementing ways. The history of the relationship between the United States and North Korea led up to today s policy of dealing with North Korea through diplomatic channels. The U.S. helped to divide the Korean peninsula at the end of World War II, and then waged war against North Korea in the 1950s. Although the U.S. signed a peace agreement rather than a peace treaty with North Korea after the war, its policy toward the country changed. Instead of trying to overthrow the North Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of containing communism. During the 1980 s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to take on a new diplomatic form. North Korea s nuclear weapons program had become a pressing international issue

Such a relationship must seem harsh to the modern reader. However, Wollstonecraft s dichotomy of husband to wife with owner to slave is nothing further than the application of household duty. Controversially, Wollstonecraft believes True happiness, I mean all the contentment, and virtuous satisfaction that can be snatched in this imperfect state, must arise from well regulated affections; and an affection includes a duty , referring to the mothering role of the wife, as the father looks on to appreciate his child being nursed. This would clearly be the best case scenario for a king, but King Henry VIII acted directly opposite to this quote. Henry was a man hungry for power and willing to hurt whoever stood in his way, he proved this by his extensive history with women. Henry Tudor, most commonly known as King Henry VIII, was born on June 28, 1491, to mother, Elizabeth of York and father, Henry VII. King Henry VII did not want his newly formed alliance with Spain to end, so his solution was to offer Henry VIII in marriage to Arthur s widow. While both King Henry VIII and his wife Elizabeth were ecstatic with the idea, Henry VIII and Catherine were hesitant of the idea of getting married ( Tremlett 59). Oddly enough, King Henry VII died on April 22, 1509, which left Henry VIII to succeed him as king. Shortly after his father s death, Henry agreed to marry Catherine, as he claimed that it was the dying wish of Henry VII that he does so. On June 11, 1509, the two were married in a small wedding held at the friar s church in Greenwich. Exactly twelve days after the marriage, on June 23, 1509, Henry led Catherine from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey for their grand Coronation that would take place the next day. Following the coronation ceremony everyone gathered at Westminster Hall for an elaborate celebration banquet (Tremlett 61). One year after being married, on June 31, 1510, Catherine gave birth to a still born, but conceived again only four months later. New Year s Day 1511 was a day to remember; Catherine gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Henry after his father. This was an obvious reason for great celebrations, and Henry hosted a jousting tournament as part of the celebrations. However, seven short weeks after being born, the child passed away. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pattern of the song has a beat that repeats itself at a fixed rate. In addition to the fixed rate, the song has an accent where one beat is emphasized and this can be heard by the increased volume of that specific note. Towards the end of the song, the melodic contour of the song can be described as a descending melodic contour as the pitches descend from high to low. This is done by the artist holding out their voices for a lengthened amount of time. Furthermore, the phonic structure of this piece can be described as a monophonic piece. Monophony means that the performers play the same pitches with the same rhythms. Even though the song incompasses a wide varitey of instruments, the rhythm of the song stays relatively the same Another important aspect of the song is the dynamics. The beginning of the song can be classified as a crescendo because of the increased musical sound from the instruments, however, towards the end there is a decrescendo as the volume falls off and the artists holds on and extends the last note. The crescendo in the beginning of the song is interesting to note because the song starts off acapella and gradually the volume begins to increase when the first musical instrument comes into play. Last but not least, this piece of music contains a lot of repetition. The vocal repetition of the songs title serves as a

Students then find the freezing point of the t butyl alcohol and the unknown mixture through using an equation that goes Temp =(m2b1 m1b2)/(m2 m1). From our lab group experiment, the average temperature of the pure t butyl alcohol was 23.1 degrees Celsius and the mixture was 12.0 degrees Celsius. After finding the two temperatures, we subtracted the average temperature of the t butyl alcohol and the freezing point of solution to get 11.1 degrees Celsius. This is revealed through the characters quick decent into tribal behaviour upon an absence of humanity, casting off the chains of society in favour of violence and savagery. These controversial ideas presented throughout Lord of the Flies are communicated through four main characters who each play important roles in portraying these concepts through the medium of conflict between each other. The protagonists Ralph, Piggy and Simon all depict the good themes of civilisation, each portraying either intellectuals, humanitarians or affiliations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack is initially depicted as a strong willed yet disciplined schoolboy but rapidly transforms into a brutal savage, adopting depraved values in favor of his old, civilised values. Jack is symbolic of all the negative segments and attitudes of civilisation such as the desire for power, money, control and fame. He naturally conflicts with the other characters representing the positives of civilisation such as Ralph and Piggy and tries to silence them for his own personal gain. This conflict between good and evil is rendered immediately when Jack joins the group in the beginning of the film. With a show of power he marches his intimidating choir into the meeting and attempts to take control from Ralph and Piggy. I think we ought to have a chief to decide things. This has caused more gridlock in Congress as many members are not willing to compromise on these important topics (La Raja
