Stone age can be divided in to
Three
Paleolithic Period (Old Stone Age)
Mesolithic Period (Middle Stone

Stone was the main material used to make tools till 3000 B C, this
long period was known as stone age .
Paleolithic Period
Extended from 500000 B C to 10000 BC
Features sites

 Lived in caves and tree

 They used bark of trees
animal skin for covering
body
 They are wandering
people
 The Sivalik hills of

period.
 Extended from 10000 B C to 8000 BC.
 The hunting and gathering pattern of life continued.
 They used more advanced flint tools called Microliths.
 They used bows and arrows .
 Began a tendancy to settle for longer periods in an
area.
 Domestication of animals also started.
 Burials of dead along with some microliths seem to
have been practiced.

 Worship the nature forces.
 Buried the dead.
 Believed in life after death.
 They are interested in cave paintings.
