St. Mark's Basilica in Venice is one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture. Modeled after churches in Constantinople, it has a Greek cross layout with a central dome and four smaller domes over each arm. The interior features stunning golden mosaics on the domes and arched ceilings, as well as a marble floor decorated with mosaic designs from the 12th-14th centuries. Externally, the basilica has a large arched facade and terrace overlooking St. Mark's Square, decorated with statues of saints and the four bronze Horses of St. Mark.
