Sport Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sport Essay Example" can be both challenging and rewarding.
While the subject itself is broad and dynamic, offering ample opportunities for exploration, it
also presents the difficulty of selecting a focused and engaging angle. The challenge lies in
striking a balance between providing general information about sports and offering a unique
perspective or argument to capture the reader's attention.
Research plays a crucial role in developing a well-informed and credible essay. Gathering
relevant information, statistics, and examples to support your points requires time and effort.
Additionally, finding a fresh angle or unique perspective on the topic can be a daunting task,
especially considering the vast amount of existing literature on sports.
Organizing the essay is another hurdle. Creating a coherent structure that flows logically from
introduction to conclusion is essential for a successful essay. The challenge is to present
information in a way that keeps the reader engaged and maintains a clear line of thought. The
risk of veering off-topic or presenting disjointed ideas can make the writing process more
demanding.
Moreover, incorporating one's voice and style into the essay while adhering to academic
standards can be demanding. Striking the right balance between formal language and personal
expression is a delicate task that requires careful consideration.
Despite the difficulties, the process of writing a sport essay can be immensely rewarding. It
offers an opportunity to delve into a subject you are passionate about, develop critical thinking
skills, and improve your ability to communicate effectively. Overcoming the challenges posed by
researching, organizing, and articulating ideas contributes to personal and academic growth.

Coral Reef Symbiotic Relationships
The planet is made of up different ecosystems that encompass the animals, vegetation,
and nonliving factors. The environmental conditions are dependent on the location
and type of ecosystem. There are a large number of ecosystems, ranging from
conditions found in the tundra to conditions found in the desert. Each of these types
of ecosystemrelies on a delicate balance maintained by the symbiotic relationships
within its organisms and nonliving components. These symbiotic relationships are a
result of the benefits provided by the organisms of the ecosystem. These benefits exist
because of the biodiversitywithin the organisms. Therefore, biodiversity is
responsible for the balance of ecosystems and the planet. However, biodiversity and

of the genes present in an area. The larger amounts of biodiversity in an ecosystem,
the larger amounts of biodiversity there is in the world. There are two types of
biodiversity: genetic biodiversity and ecological biodiversity. Genetic biodiversity
is the difference of genes within a species. For example, there are different breeds
of dogs such as great Danes and Chihuahuas. Each of these breeds possesses different
genetics, causing variation within the species. Ecological biodiversity is the variation
of genetics between ecosystems and habitats. For example, forests located in
Colorado will have different genetic and interactions than forests located in Virginia.
Genetic and ecological biodiversity are responsible for the difference within
ecosystems and the success of the planet
The Psychological Theories Of Alcohol Dependence, Social...
Newspaper headlines and public heath reports continually remind us that many abuse
alcohol. Despite its many associated consequences, such as: increased hospital
admissions, deaths, road accidents and assaults; alcohol dependence remains a
prominent issue in today s society. But what causes alcohol dependence? This essay
will critically discuss and compare two psychological theories of alcohol dependence,
social learning theory and alcohol expectancy theory.
Bandura s Social Learning Theory and Its Application to Alcohol Dependency
Social learning theory is the cumulative works of many psychologists and
sociologists, the most influential of these, was Bandura (1969, 1977 and 1986)
whose works were the first to combine the principles of cognitive psychology and
those of behavioural learning (the two prominent theories of the time). Bandura s
(1969, 1977 and 1986) social learning theory contained four major constructs:
differential reinforcement (differing consequences for a specific behaviour dependent
on the social context and situation), vicarious learning (acquiring new behaviours by
observing said behaviours being reinforced in others or through communication),
cognitive processes (the belief that cognitive processes such as information retrieval,
encoding and organizing, regulate behaviour) and triadic reciprocity (a principle that
says, the environment, cognitions and behaviour all mutually influence each other).
Bandura applied the early versions of these constructs
A Visit to MableВґs Fables, a Toronto Bookstore
A visit to Mable s Fables was totally a new experience for me. First of all this was my
first visit to any bookstore so I wasn t expecting anything fancy except some
children books on shelves , some kids and their parents. But I am glad to say that I
was wrong. FIG 1
Mabel s Fables is one of the oldest children s bookstores in Toronto. They have been
bringing kids closer to books and literature since 1988.They completed their 25th
year anniversary last year in 2013. I visited the bookstore on 14th of February
2014.Most of the section was covered with red purple, blue, white and yellow. Most
of the interior is with purple white and yellow. As it was valentines that s why there
was touch of color red everywhere. The place has been designed and painted in
such a way that it sooths your eyes as soon u walk in the store. The color
combination mesmerized me so much and had no option but to ask one of the staff
members about who chooses the color scheme, the pattern, and the answer I got blew
me off. The answer was it s the staff members and manager that decide about how the
things should be setup with what color scheme as they keep on changing it now and
then according to the occasions.
Mable s fable is divided into 2 floors where the books are organised according to age.
The ground floor is children section starting from babies till 10 years old kids. The
books and display material over here were very colorful with bold titles. I found some

Oliver Road Survey
On 03/08/2017 Deputies were dispatched to the area of 120th Ave and Oliver Road
for a traffic complaint. The reporting party advised a vehicle was parked near the
tracks and when a train approached three occupants got out of their vehicle and
stood in the roadway. Other deputies were en route to this call when another call
came out and other units were needed elsewhere. After finishing with my current
assignment I responded to this call. At approximately 16:43 hours I arrived in the
area of 120th Ave and Oliver Road. Once I turned east I saw a blue truck parked in
the roadway. As I approached the vehicle I noticed three people sitting the
guardrail to the railroad crossing arm. I approached the three and asked them to
step away from the tracks and towards me. The three did so without hesitation. A
male, who I know from previous encounters as Richard Wayne Hamilton, asked
why the Sheriff s Office was called when they weren t doing anything wrong. I
explained to Richard that his vehicle was blocking the lane of travel and when I
approached they were trespassing on railroad property. Richard stated he was not
trespassing as the group had been given permission by BNSF Police given that they
were not parked on the tracks and were clear of the tracks as trains were traveling
through the area. I told Richard I would contact BNSF Police and verify this

Yolo County Reference Map Analysis
Reference Maps My hometown is located in northern California and the southern
part of Yolo County. Figures 2.0 to 2.3 show the geographic location of Davis, CA.
The maps were created using the United States Census Bureau American
Factfinder website. Figure 2.0 shows California and the location of Yolo County
(). This map was created using the Reference Map feature tool on the American
FactFinder main page. In the Find a Location tab on the subsequent page I chose
place name under the Find by header and searched for Yolo County, California .
The search results produced a map that was centered on Yolo County. To highlight
Yolo County I used the Select Geography tab and chose County . I clicked on Yolo
County to select it and clicked Add To Your Selections to highlight it yellow. Once
Yolo County was highlighted, I used the zoom bar to zoom out to a level that would
show the entire state to show the location of Yolo County relative to California. At
this distance, the only features shown are state boundaries and names, major roads,
major cities, water bodies, terrain (mountains and valleys), and the boundary of Yolo

Representative fractions are a type of map scale. A map scale is a proportion
between the distance on a map and a corresponding distance on the ground
(Chapter 2 section 5). The conventional nomenclature for this proportion is Dm/Dg
where Dm stands for map distance and Dg stands for ground distance (Chapter 2
section 5). Representative fractions have Dm equal to 1 and are formatted as 1:Dg
(Chapter 2 section 5). The bar scales on the maps provide a visual representation of
the distance on the map and the corresponding distance on the ground. I ll use Figure

Samuel Colt Research Paper
Samuel Colt s Revolving Chamber Samuel Colt s development of the revolving
pistol had a rough start. However, after the Colt Walker got its chance during the
Mexican American War it proved to be a handy side arm in giving America the
upper hand. The Mexican army had outdated weaponry and could not upgrade as
they would have to wait for the shipment to be imported from overseas. The new
concept of a revolving multishot firearmhas influenced our military and police
force. Since 1847 when Colt got its start, it has been with the american people up to
today. In 1895, Theodore Roosevelt, the President of the Board of Commissioners
with the NYPD, ordered 4,500 Colt New Police revolvers to be the standard pistol for
police officers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mexican American war was where the Colt revolver really showed what it s got.
The Texas rangers ordered 1,000 Colt Walkers to use in the war. Since the
revolving chamber was a new addition to the handgun category it really came in
handy with close quarter combat. The mexican army still had outdated weaponry.
The Mexican army would have to wait for guns to be imported overseas so that
was no option. With their armory out of date and the Americans equipped with
revolving chamber America obviously had the upper hand. The colt has helped us
win wars, it has shaped our police force, has it done anything else for us? Yes, it has
been quoted as The gun with won the west . When you think of the early west you
probably think of the old shoot outs. They have been shown in movies to be pretty
cool, but what if the ranger missed the bandit? Without the Colt revolver he would
have to put the gunpowder into the chamber and loaded in the bullet. A lot less
interesting, however the revolver could fire and kill someone in no time. The colt
peacemaker helped the rangers defend their towns from outlaws. One of the most
famous shootouts in the history of the west was Tombstone Arizona. There were 30
shots fired in 30 seconds, the speed was due to the revolving

Using the Grounds Theory approach our group determined and analyzed the
common themes on social media surrounding the Toms Shoes brand. We created a
Theme chart and a sub theme chart from the largest theme. These charts can be seen
below. The top three themes were 1) Social Justice, which was mainly comprised of
soundbites focused on the Toms One For One motto and their positive impact on
those less fortunate 2) Style, which was largely focused on the look of the shoes and
3) what we named Purchase/ want, this category was comprised of soundbites in
which people were talking about a purchase they had just made or stating that they

Then we set the custom date range from April 10th, 2012 to June 15th, 2012.
There were 621 mentions. People mentioned One Day Without Shoes mostly on
the event date and then it began to decrease and stopped within a week. There
were 88% positive and 12% negative comments. Some people thought it was nasty
and gross to go without shoes in crowded or public areas, but the majority thought
that it supported a good cause and were willing as well as excited to join the
campaign. Many people shared their good experience of being barefoot on that day,
which is what we expected. However, similar to the analysis of the pre event date, the
number of mentions quite still pretty small. Most of the stream came from twitter.
We recommend Toms improve their campaign. Not entirely change the campaign
but make a minor change in order to make it more exciting and so that it is not
exactly the same every year. We think that this will help boost participation and
therefore awareness of the brands mission. One way Toms could accomplish this
is by arranging a video competition, which would ask people to make their own
video doing their daily activities barefoot. They would then be asked to post the
videos on Toms Facebook. Whomevers video got the most likes would win a
reward or prize. Perhaps even a trip to one of the countries where Toms gives there
shoes away so that the dedicated customer could help deliver the shoes and
experience first hand how impactful
Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill
Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill
Abstract
In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was
experimentally investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction
coefficient, discharge coefficient, submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow
energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with different hydraulic parameters were
analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of dimensional and regression
analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating the studied
parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged
radial gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately
downstream the stilling basin of some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill
in Egypt.
Keywords: Radial gate; gate sill; submerged flow characteristics; submerged hydraulic
jump; velocity field.
1.Introduction
Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control
structures in many irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to
regulate both water level and flow discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are
preferred over vertical sluice gates for several advantages. They require smaller
hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow disturbance, and provide
better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as either
free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and
Edwin Locke And Gary Latham
Edwin Locke and Gary Latham will be the first ones to openly admit there are active
limitations with the goal setting theory. It is not uncommon for individual goals to
conflict with organizational goals. Moreover, research has proven complex goals
have sparked motivation in teams to implement strategies with substantially high
amounts of risk (Knight, Durham, Locke, 2001). Sometimes people will believe
higher risk strategies produce the greatest returns, yet high risk goals consistently
result in failure as well (Knight et. al, 2001). Additionally, when individuals
simultaneously create two goals there is a greater chance they exert too much energy
and focus on achieving just one of those goals. This can lead to one of the goals not
receiving enough attention, which can potentially result in the person failing to reach
the end result in either goal. In short, these are three common limitations of goal
setting that typically draw concerns from other researchers and theorists. However, it
is important people are aware of the limitations that do not receive as much attention,
such as team goal setting, unethical behavior in high performance goals, and
subconscious goals.
Team Goal Setting According to Arraya, Pellissier, and Preto (2015), team goal
setting involves much more than merely goal setting. The three authors conducted a
study on team goal setting in the sports industry. The study revolved around three
major factors: goal orientation, collectivism, and

Lollipops are basically and most importantly just hard candies with a small stick in
it. The tightly wrapped white paper stick is a handle, and the hard candy lollipops
are either sucked or bitten apart until eaten. Lollipops can come in all different sorts
of shapes, colors, and sizes. From the Tootsie Pops to the Dum Dum lollipops, there
are so many different types of lollipops. Even though lollipops come in different
sizes and each lollipop seems different from the others, the lollipop is basically made
by corn syrup, sugar, flavorings and water.
Features and Benefits
Sharon s Lollies have a random assortment of lollipops. They have regular flavored
lollipops (flavors include cherry, watermelon, grape, blueberry, green apple, etc.).
Another type of lollipop manufactured/distributed by our company is the Gummy

30 For 30 There s No Place Like Home Summary
The documentary 30 for 30: There s No Place Like Home was composed by
American documentary filmmaker and author Josh Swade to inform the audience
about what is considered the most important document in sports history; the rules of
basketball. The rules, invented by James Naismith, were going to be auctioned at
Sotheby s in New York City. Josh Swade is an extremist KU fan with a mission to
bring the rules of basketballback to their rightful location of Kansas University. This
document started the birthplace of basketball in KU, yet the document was auctioned,
and it potentially could have left it s befitting home at KU. This historic document
belongs to KU.

would be comical if he weren t so obnoxious (Bellamy 1). However, the author of
this article is biased towards Duke. Describing Swade as obnoxious is one example
of the bias Bellamy includes throughout his article. No facts are used to prove that
Swade s behavior is obnoxious whatsoever. In fact, Swade s behavior shows how
determined he was to bring the rules back to their rightful home. Obnoxious or not,
Swade and other KU fans had sentimental feeling towards the document of rules that
would have made innumerable amounts of KU fans disappointed if the rules were
not placed safely back in Lawrence, Kansas. Correspondingly, the affectionate
feelings KU had towards the rules and basketball tied together the reasoning to bring
the rules back to their rightful home in Lawrence,
The Good The Bad And The Daily Show Analysis

coverage of fake entertainment news. Zinser effectively argues the different benefits
and disadvantages of entertaining news. When reading this article, one can find that
Zinser uses emotional appeals to create a sense of intentness to his readers, uses
ethical appeals to create trust from his readers, and uses logical appeals to inform
readers of the difference between humorus news and undeniable news. Zinser utilizes
his readers emotional appeal, pathos, to prove that fake news programs, such as The

deception is giving the wrong information on purpose; yet, states that The Daily

Impact of Social Networking Sites Usage on Student s Academic Performance in
Pakistan Abstract Purpose This research paper examines the impact of the usage of
social networking sites (SNS) on the academic performance of the students in
universities. The impact has been studied in relation to three variables acting as
moderators to the usage of social networking sites which in turn helps to enquire the
variation of academic performance of the students regarding that usage. The
Independent variable is the SNS usage, the mediator is the Technology. Methodology

2.0: Demographics According to Oxford Dictionaries (2012) Demographics is the
statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. The
demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and
educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students use of and
attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found
regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers
and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with
their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their
social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics
of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed
the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate,
interact and gather information (Raacke Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite
high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are
also situated at rural areas like Comsats Vehari . Also the students in larger cities are

is did from its beginning. Humble notes that, The Restoration Movement began in
America about 1800, nearly 200 years after the first English settlements in the New
World. (Humble 1). The New World was very diverse religiously compared to Europe
where Catholicism was prominent. The author goes on to list several of the main

He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the
North. One point of contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and
Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan restructured the Society with the aim of
maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The restructuring however
ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was asked in
1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw
instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood
fast in opposing the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin,
said: Better is poor singing where love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and
hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches of Christ and the Christian
Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This was mostly
based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated
that more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of
instrumental music. (Humble 65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas
were more numerous than Christian Churches (Humble 66). Division seemed to be
spotlighted in progressives and conservatives, but division abounded in each group as
well. For example, many conservatives agreed against societies and instruments, but

many things. These make up part of my everyday life. I am thankful for three main
earthly possessions. Those three are my house, my speaker, and my drumset. It is
really cool to own these things. I am thankful for many things. One of those is my
house. I like my house because that s where I live. I wake up there and that s where
I go after school. I also like to decorate the house on holidays. I help out with the

Environmental Management Of Mining From New Acland
Coal Mine
ENVM3305 Environmental Management in Mining
Field report New Acland Coal Mine
Name: SГўmara Oliveira
Student number: s4338824
INTRODUCTION
The minerals are indispensable for the maintenance of industrial activity, since
products such as automobiles, machinery, tractors, cement, among others, are
manufactured from raw materials coming from this extraction and that these
activities are often energetically dependents on certain minerals, such as coal for
example.
However, the mining activity promotes direct impacts on nature, leading to
environmental degradation. It is an activity that extracts resources that are on the
ground or underground, from where various types of minerals (gold, silver, iron ore,
tin, bauxite, and many others) are removed.
Like all exploitation of natural resources, the mining activity causes impacts on the
environment both in the exploitation of natural areas and waste generation. It
intensely alters the mined area and the surrounding areas, where deposits of waste
and tailings are made. Furthermore, when we have the presence of harmful chemicals
in the ore processing stage, this could mean a serious problem from an environmental
point of view (de Freitas, 2014).
According to Souza Silva (2007), the main problems arising from the mining can be
grouped into five categories: water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, land
subsidence, fires caused by coal and radioactive waste.
Through this report will be made a specific of the
The City Of The Aztec Empire
When thinking of ancient, urban centers many think of ancient capitals such as
Rome, Athens, or Cairo. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South
America, there were a number of growing urban centers being built by the Aztec,
Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a Central American urban center is
Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec
capital which is located
in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was
dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and
social organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a
major urban center and as the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish.
Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining
whether or not an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with
favorable ecology allows for resources such as agriculture to be produced near or
within the city. However, agriculture is not the only element of ecology that allows
for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers, lakes, elevation,
mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not
a location has favorable ecology (28). Tenochtitlan is often compared to Europe s
Venice due to its structure and location within the Valley of Mexico
. The landscape of
the Valley of Mexico consisted of multiple lakes and resembled a water filled

The Counsel for the Police Commissioner appealed the decision on the grounds
that search and seizure powers applied to both domestic and extraditable offences.
Also that common law powers were merely supplanted and not replaced. He
contended that the search was legal under Section 18 and 19 of PACE, and that
there was no violation of Article 8 of the ECHR as search and seizure powers were

Ratio Decindi
Lord Hutton had affirmed the existence of common law powers to search the
respondent s premises after arresting him for extraditable offences by upholding the
principles in Ghani v Jones and Osman particularly the lack of difference between
warrants of arrest in domestic and extradition proceedings.

From being fierce and bold, scared and timid, the character s personality is

Informative Speech On Procrastination
I.Attention Getter: We all have been there when we wait until the last minute to
write a paper or study for an exam. We struggle to get these things done and this
struggle is called procrastination. II.Relate to Audience/ Thesis Statement: In this
classroom, I am sure we all have procrastinated one time or another when it came to
doing something either school work or doing chorus. Some of us probably
procrastinate all the time and it is part of our life. III.Establish Credibility: I
procrastinate all the time when it comes to doing something, therefore, I know what
it feels like to procrastinate. I can provide some information on some of the reasons
on why we procrastinate and how to combat it. IV.Preview: Throughout this speech, I
will discuss the concept of procrastination. First, I will discuss what procrastination
is, the science behind procrastination, and tips to combat procrastination. [Transition:
First of all, we all have the habit of procrastinating no matter how hard we try not to.]
Body I.Main point: Procrastination is done by everyone around us one time or
another. II.Sub point: What exactly is the definition of procrastination? 1.According
to dictionary.com, the meaning of procrastination is the act or habit of
procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate

Sports As A Team And The Main Objective Of The Game
For rugby however, there are 15players on a team and the main objective of the
game is to use the ball to have more points than the other team. In this sport a player
can run, kick and pass with the ball but they are not allowed to pass the ball
forward. It is a contact sport as the players can tackle the opponent/opposition in
order to get the ball. There are three ways to score points in rugby, which is by a
try, a conversion and a goal kick. A try is worth five points, a conversion is worth
two points, and a goal kick is work three points. Therefore, this sport becomes a
high scoring game. Rugby is played on a grass field with lines on it to outline the
boundaries. At each end of the fields there are goal posts at either end with an in
goal area, where players can score their points by placing the ball over this try line.
One team defends and the other is trying to score points, the same as netball. Rugby
consists of eight minutes and is split into forty minute half s. At half time there is a
ten minute break then teams swap ends of the field. These are the basic rules,
regulations and objectives of this sport rugby.
Physical and mental training is required in both sports of Netball and Rugby. Mental
attitude and focus are essential elements in performance of these two sports. For
optimal performance, athletes within these two sports need to learn mental skills to
activate and maintain their level of motivation. Physical training is also an essential

INTRODUCTION
в—ЏWhen was the Cult founded?

в—ЏWho was the founder of this Cult?
в—ЏWhen did the Cult come to New Zealand?
The cult Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day was founded informally in 1829 and
the formally on the 6th April 1830 in New York In the United States. The cult was
founded by Joseph Smith. As A young boy Joseph was confused as to which
church he should join and regularly looked guidance from god through prayer, One
day god the almighty father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to joseph through a
vision and explained to him that he should not join any other churches for they
were all wrong; ... that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; ... that:
they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for
doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny
the power thereof. (JS H 1:19) People heard of Josephs encounter but few chose to
believe him, Fours years passed before Joseph was visited by a heavenly messenger
by the name of Moroni who said god has special work for joseph to do and that
deposited in a nearby hill were some gold plates which had the everlasting gospel in
scripted onto it and that it was josephs job to translate the words and restore the
gospel of the lord. When joseph tried removing the plates from the nearby hill joseph

Nature vs Nurture
Nature vs. Nurture
The Nature versus Nurture debate concerns the relative importance of an individual s
innate qualities versus personal experiences in determining or causing differences in
physical and behavioral traits. (Ridley, Matt. What Makes You Who You Are. Time
Magazine. 25 May 2003).
Almost everyone in any related field has an opinion as to which is truly more
important, nature or nurture. The director of a group called the Minnesota Study of
Twins Reared Apart, Thomas Bouchard, believes that 70 percent of a person s
personality is genetic and 30 percent is due to environment. The director of the
Lewisville Twin Study, Adam Matheny, however, says it is 50 50.
In my opinion, both nature and nurture are very important. ... Show more content on

One twin might get cancer while the other is not susceptible, for example. Many
identical twins clearly behave differently as they grow older, and some even grow to
look less alike. Such differences don t have anything to do with the twins identical
DNA, which is like the software of life, but in how genes express themselves. The
differences stem from chemical modifications in the genes over the years. These
effects are the result of chemical exposure, dietary habits, and other environmental
factors, scientists believe. Other studies have shown that the brains of identical twins
look different upon close inspection of the wiring.
Personality is a frequently cited example of a heritable trait that has been studied in
twins and adoptions. Identical twins reared apart are more similar in personality than
randomly selected pairs of people. Likewise, identical twins are more similar than
fraternal twins. Also, biological siblings are more similar in personality than adoptive
siblings. Each suggests that personality is a heritable trait.
At the same time, the influences on a child s development of the environment in
which he or she grows up is also well substantiated, both scientifically and by
common sense. For example, children raised in orphanages can turn out just fine, in
fact many of them marry and have children. It seems not important whether or not
they have families or children, but how those families are
Education Budget Cuts
School budgets are being cut lower and lower year by year. For the past 6 years, after
the recession, the funding for education has decreased tremendously. The new
budgets are providing less per pupil funding to kindergarten through 12th grade. At
the same, the nation wants graduates to excel in their technical and analytical skill
but the decrease in educational funds are contradicting and raise concern. The budget
cuts in educationsystems delay the school district s ability to deliver high quality
education to their students. Restoring school funding should be a top priority.
For the 2013 2014 school year, at least 34 states are providing less funding per
student. Thirteen of those states have cut back on the funding by ten percent.
Fifteen of the states are providing less funding to the school district then they did
the year before. Despite the fact that most states are experiencing a tax increases.
44 percent of the school funding comes from state funds and, decreasing those
mean the school districts have to scale back the educational services or raise local
property tax to cover to cost; some might have to do a combination of both.
Education budget cuts began in July 2008 with reducing the number of teachers and
other employees but as of August 2013 had cut 324,000 jobs nationally since 2008.
Some states increased funding for the current school years but not nearly, enough to
compare to what was cut the previous year. New Mexico for example had an increase
of $72
Portrayal Of Mr. Darling
Portrayal of Mr. Darling The book Peter and Wendy by J. M. Barrie is a story of a
young girl named Wendy Darling and her two brothers, John and Michael. The
Darling children have imagined an island called Neverland and the wonderful people
and creatures that live there. They imagine a boy named Peter Pan who flies around
the island battling the infamous Captain Hook. Even Mrs. Darling knows stories of
Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Peter comes to their house to listen to Wendy
s stories. One night Mrs. Darling spots Peter and catches his shadow after it
becomes detached when the window clips it off. She locks it in a drawer for safe
keeping. Peter returns while Mr. and Mrs. Darling are out attending a party to
retrieve his shadow. This time Wendy wakes up and catches Peter in her room. After
helping him with his shadow Peter invites Wendy to come back with him to
Neverland. She wakes her brother and Peter teaches them to fly. The Darling children
and Peter Pan fly off to Neverland as their parents rush home from the party to stop
them. In Neverland the children and Peter go on many adventures and battle the
notorious Captain Hook. The story of their adventures has been made into several
different films, each taking a different perspective on how the characters are
portrayed. In 2003, Peter Pan was released capturing the same story we all know and
love. Mr. Darling is a very import character in the story of Peter Pan. Often the actor
who plays Mr. Darling also plays
Sexuality And The Female Body
Sex. A lot of people have it, a lot of people want to have it, and it is generally
considered a pretty great thing, but why are there so many taboos surrounding
sex? Particularly, there seems to be a lot a taboos pertaining to women and their
relationship with sex. Society has always been uncomfortable with women
expressing their sexuality and often downplays women s capacities for sexual
pleasure. Our literature reflects this. Women in literature do not often express
their sexuality openly, or if they do, they are vilified. If the women are not vilified,
the book will often be banned (like several of the books we ve read in class, like Mrs.
Warren s Profession and ChГ©ri). Peggy Orenstein s article When Did Porn Become

While Maggie is one of the most likeable characters in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, she
certainly isn t well liked by the other characters. She and Mae clearly have a rivalry
and Brick, not being sexually interested in her aside, can t stand her. Throughout
the course of the book, his resentment of her becomes clearer. From the beginning
of the play he s already been looking at Maggie in a way that [freezes her] blood,

Brick is gay, or even if he isn t, Maggie being portrayed negatively just shows how
uncomfortable society is with women pursuing sex. In the first scene Maggie
drops some less than subtle hints about wanting sex and then spends the rest of the
play being resented by Brick and all but tormented by the rest of her extended
family. While Brick may not be interested in her because of his sexuality, he offers
no clarity and thus appears extremely indifferent to his wife and how negatively
this has affected her. She nearly breaks down at the beginning of the play because
she s gone through a hideous transformation (p. 26) after years of an unfulfilling
marriage and tries to tell Brick how lonely she is, how lonely he makes her feel, and

Voting Day Analysis
As mentioned on previous pages, the idea of having a federal holiday for voting is
not a new idea. As expressed in previous pages, in the recent years, the idea has
become popular with Bernie s Bill, The Democracy Day Act. However, in addition
there are a handful of organizations and movements that are also trying to make voting
day become a holiday. Surprisingly, Rainn Wilson created a video portraying how
antiquated the laws surrounding voting day are. The video explains why America
votes on a Tuesday and how irrelevant it is to still practice voting on that day.
Wilson also poked fun at the notorious voter identification laws which also have been
proven to be fatuous. Wilson s video helped provide a connection between how

Application For A Alternative Science Program
Good morning Ms. Credille and Ms. Brunelle,
Mark contacted me after the accommodation meeting yesterday afternoon stating
that I had a reasonable amount of time to get back in to see my Doctor to work out
a remedy for my condition with her before moving forward on relocating my
classroom. As stated, I would rather resolve it medically myself than compromise
my ability to best serve my students academically. Furthermore, the solution put forth
would simply not be feasible in my current instructional environment, as I have
highly heterogeneous classes with students in different science courses and even
different quarters of the courses. In addition to my being able to implement the
district s science performance task (lab) assessment currently under development,
my goal has been to develop self contained wet labs which are readily available for
students when they are at certain points in the curriculum. The items I only just
unpacked would not fit into one of our regular classrooms, and I am in the process
of researching purchase requisitions. Therefore, if I am to lead our alternative science
program forward with the implementation of NGSS practices, as well as content, I
must have regular access to materials, supplies, counter space and a sink in order to
accomplish that, and I cannot be in two places at one time. I ve included the district
science TOSA s letter below for your records, and the photo of the space I am
referring to. As I stated in the meeting, it is
Inflation In The Movie Inflation
Inflation is one of the horrendous nightmares of any person who belongs to a
middle class family. The depiction of the protagonist in the movie clearly shows
how his family fights tooth and nail to survive in the phase of price augmentation of
essential food commodities. But to his despair, the time arrives when the
protagonist has to have an alternative to feed his family. His usage of Government s
interest free loan for commencement of business, to purchase ration for 3 years for
his family clearly shows their dire need of ration for their survival. It had not been
possible, if their incomes would have remained stagnant.
Hoarding Cause or effect of Inflation
The movie has shown that the protagonist is compelled to stock up food items in
order to face the rise in prices. The movie shows that the protagonist, in order to
fight with the rapid increase in prices come up with the idea of stocking up of food
commodities for the period of 3 years. But, whether this practice would curb the
problem of further increase in prices remains a matter of skepticism.

selling them at a higher price in the future. The economy would not be unaffected as

in the act of hoarding but doesn t seem to encompass consumers into it which is why
the consumers stock up the products by speculating about their
Examples Of Classification Of Business Students
Classification of Business Students
As members of a team studying at State Colleges, students are individuals. As a
team, however, they are a collage of different individuals working together to achieve
a common goal. The goal, in this case, is a business management degree. No matter
how common their goal is as a team, students, as individuals, have a unique path to
achieving it.
Some team members have an interactive style. In other words, they have the tendency
to be fast paced, and spontaneous. This is fine and works well with a couple of the
dominant styles in the group as they see eye to eye on the speed of completing tasks.
On the other hand, there is a cautious style with the team that has a slower paced
approach to tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, they must always maintain perspective by seeking to be less emotional
and intense about non critical situations. Taking a stress management course and
learning simple breathing exercises to deal with pressure will be best for an impresser.
Another style is the predominantly behavioral cautious style, which is also known as
the master minder. The master minder is said to be more guarded and less indirect
than most other cautious styles. The primary goal motivating this type of behavior is
to increase opportunities for unique and significant personal accomplishments. This
type of person express themselves more by what he or she does than what he or she
says. Consequently, this person has strong needs to choose their own goals and to
work independently. They incline to be primary idea generators and developers, and
they have little interest in dealing with implementation details. Some of their
tendencies are being focused and self controlled with people and also being focused
on the future, especially in concerning ideas and opportunities. Sometimes they have
a tendency to over analyze and possibly procrastinate when they re under pressure.
Although they do take some calculated risk when making decisions, they also enjoy
planning, monitoring, and measuring. However, to improve his or her educational
achievements, a person with this type of behavior needs to work on being less
guarded and more direct when communicating with others. They need to commit
Satire Essay On Pharmaceutical Drugs
From the beginning of time we have these pre conceived notions that doctors are a
secure haven. The relation between the drugs and the dealer greatly resemble the
relation between pharmaceuticals and physicians. Society views the doctors as the
problem, but if you dig deeper, you ll notice that it relies on the pharmaceutical
industries. The FDA approves these drugs that could benefit you in one aspect, but it
can also wreak havoc on the potential consumers. Although, pharmaceutical drugs
aren t always defective, they allow the pain to subside, even if the relief is
temporary. The drugs that are prescribed are not curing disease, but merely
concealing the symptoms. Individuals who have never been ill a day in their life that

The Driving Test
This is not true of the whole world, but the amount of learning necessary to be
allowed on the streets is dreadful. In the US, all that is necessary is test of common
sense and a demonstrated aptitude of deciphering street signs. The only real learning
necessary is how to appease the proctor in a 15 minute drive
The driving test itself is about as close to a literal walk in the park as is possible,
the only difference being that instead of walking on your own two feet, the car does
that for you. Other than self imposed stress, there are no outside stressors on the test.
In most places, the person learning to drive can have lessons administered by the

The test itself is even easier, because the has learned to keep calm and quiet over

Now that electronic sensors have reached a point of essentially flawless efficacy in
normal driving conditions, those drivers can be replaced by computers. Autos are
already technically capable of autonomy, the only thing stopping them is the burden

So why not administer a driving test the same way we do humans? I would bet

outperform the average 16 year old on his or her driving exam any and every day of

Patient Centered Care And Patient Care
Patient Centered Care Providing patient centered care each and every time I am in
the hospital is something that I hold to a very high esteem for myself and
everyone I work with. My preceptor and I both think it is very important to treat
patients like they are our own family member or friend, so there are many
examples I could give for how I exhibited patient centered care while I completed
my senior practicum on 5200/5300. Perhaps the most memorable from my time on
this floor was when I had a patient who had been in the hospital for more than 30
days. This patient was getting restless, had been in restraints, was unable to really
communicate due to a tracheostomy, and had also been NPO for multiple days
while waiting for surgery to insert a PEG tube and fix an elbow fracture. Although
this patient was in isolation and many team members were worn down with him
constantly trying to get out of bed, I was a fresh face and spent hours upon hours
by his side trying to understand why he was acting the way he was. The patient
was starving and was in pain due to his injuries and illness. His surgery had been
postponed multiple times because of more emergent cases and unstable labs. He
wanted nothing more than food in his belly and his own bed. Laying in a hospital
bed for weeks on end can really wear a person down, and I can only imagine how he
was feeling since it was so difficult to understand what it was he wanted. I easily
could have left him alone in his room like others

being bilingual is an advantage for an employer, by enforcing Affirmative Action

Spanish would finally have opportunities for desired positions. With applicants
depending on being bilingual for jobs, affirmative action will force employers to
focus on education, certifications, and diplomas. With focusing on credentials, and
not language; Employers will hire those suitable for the job. Also, this allows
bilingual to not only have language, but the necessary credentials for the job. With
having bilinguals with credentials leaves room for translations for those who do not
speak the necessary language. With depending on each other for information,
bilinguals, and non bilinguals would have to learn to communicate efficiently, and
create a balanced work environment. With being a diverse place El Paso needs to
enforce Affirmative Action for those desperately finding jobs, and deficient in
Spanish. Affirmative Action will not only benefit those deficient in Spanish, but also
the minorities in El Paso. Because of Hispanic,

After a series of direct instruction on this concept the students were given their post
one test. This was given the day before having the opportunity to explore the
ecosystem outside. They were given the exact same assessment requirements. The
next step to this research was giving the students the chance to explore the taiga in
a hands on experiential setting. The students were taken to Donner State Park,
where they were to complete a scavenger hunt of finding, touching, seeing and
feeling animals, plants and non living organisms. They also had the opportunity to
examine pelts and see a variety of taxidermy animal species at the museum
provided in the park. After this experience the students were then asked to take a
post two assessment. This assessment was the exact same assessment as the two
given prior. The students were asked to draw and label a taiga ecosystem including
five animals, five plants and five non living organisms. This type of data collection
is an open ended questionnaire. The questionnaire is open ended because the
students were not given specific organisms that they had to draw and label so the
answers can vary. This type of data is justifiable because it is aligned with the
NGSS standard 2 LS4 1 (NGSS 2013). This standard states that students will make
observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different

Soil Pollution
Presently, most cars run on gasoline and thus gas stations are vital to our everyday
life. In urban cities, gas stations are found in just about every other corner. It has
already been documented that burning gasoline produces toxic fumes that contributes
to air pollution, global warming, and many health concerns. Soil surrounding a gas
station can also be contaminated with gasoline and generate soil pollution. In
comparison with air, soil is more complex in composition and function. It functions
as a sink for pollutants, as a filter which delays the passage of chemicals to
groundwater, and as a bioreactor for organic life. Just as gas is a source of fuel for
cars, soil is an essential component of the earth s ecosystem. It serves as a home to
many microbes and provides the necessary nutrients to plants that dwell in it. The
pondus hyrdogenii (pH) indicates a solution s acidity and alkalinity. A pH value of 7
is considered neutral. A solution with a pH between 0 to 7 is acid and one between
7 to 14 is alkaline. Most biological organisms including plants have a very narrow
range of pH values in which environmental substrates can survive. Plants prefer acidic
substances. This leads to the following questions: Are gas stations in El Paso, Texas a
contributing factor to soil contamination?
Do Gas Stations Cause Soil Contamination?
Soil around the world is a habitat for numerous plants and animals. However, every

favorite and [she] brought him some every day (p.386) he still prefers another girl,
causing Emily to feel unfit. It is not until she discovers her talents for acting that she
feels like she s finally meeting expectations and freeing herself of institutional
pressure. This is proved when she comes home and tells her mother she doesn t really
care about exams, showing school isn t an institutional pressure for her
The Pros And Cons Of The Stamp Act, And The Tea Act
Some of the ways in which the colonists responded to British actions between 1765
and 1770 were the Stamp Act, the stationing of British troops in Boston, the
Townshend Act, and the Tea Act 33. The Stamp Act was put in place so the colonist
would pay tax on every legal paper, license, newspaper, and almanac. The stationing
of British troops in Bostonwere because the Boston and Philadelphia both agreed to
not give goods or take good from Britain until the Stamp Act was taken away. The
Townshend Act was placed a year after the Stamp Act was taken away. The
Townshend Act was almost like the Stamp act but it did not place a tax on every
little thing, it was the more important things they placed a tax on like glass, lead,
paint, and paper also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Intolerable Act was put in place because the King was angry that they had
damaged the tea ( Britain property). In his fury he placed the Intolerable Act shutting
down the Boston Harbor until they pay for the damage they made. Economic protest
was that the British soldiers did not have any place to sleep so they would just go
and sleep at colonist house. The colonist started to get mad about the situation and
started to get mad and make a mob and start attacking the other soldiers.
The Continental Army was starting to lose hope and getting a lot of setbacks in the
beginning why is that? The Continental Army was losing all to almost all of the wars
between them and the British Army. Everything changed the Christmas when the
Continental Army won their battle against the British the surprise attack was really
smart and help them in the war a lot. The military leadership was George Washington
he lead the army to victory. The mistakes the British made was that they thought they
would win no matter what because they had people with experience and a military
How To Read The Book Animal Farm By George Orwell
When I was younger, history was never appealing to me. It always seemed like it
was an unnecessary subject until my sophomore year of high school. My life
drastically changed when I read Animal Farm by George Orwell. His satire gave me
great insight that inspired me into reading his book 1984. It gave me a thirst that I
could not satisfy. I started doing something I never did before; I enjoyed and
understood what my historyteachers were saying. My next year of high schoolI took
United States history where my over enthusiastic teacher intensified my appetite to
learn more. This allowed me to better understand the concepts. I aced every test I
took; it gave me great joy when my fellow classmates begin to ask for my help. It
was not long till
Cutaneous Larva Diagnosis
Diagnosis and management of cutaneous larva migrans By Dr. Liji Thomas, MD
Cutaneous larva migrans is caused by the epidermal migration of the filariform
larvae of various hookworm and occasionally, dog tapeworm, species. The most
common type is due to the dog/cat hookworm Ancylostoma braziliense. It manifests
as a red or vesicular lesion at the site of entry of the larva, usually between the toes of
the bare foot. The skin around this papule is usually pruritic. Symptoms of severe
itching start immediately after infestation, and are associated with the appearance of
an advancing reddish, serpiginous rash. This lesion is usually benign, and lasts for
weeks to months. Eventually the larvae, having entered an accidental host, die
because they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result they die within weeks or months, and the symptoms vanish. However,
the severe itching for several weeks or months may be intolerable. It can lead to
scratching with the risk of secondary skin infection. Also, there is a risk of
complications, such as impetigo, hyper eosinophilia and allergic reactions to the
presence of the larvae. Treatment of cutaneous larva migrans may be done with 10
15% thiabendazole ointment or solution topically three times a day for 15 days.
Within 48 hours the itching stops and the rash ceases to advance. The treatment is
difficult if there are multiple rashes or hookworm infestation of the skin follicles.
Oral thiabendazole is less effective than oral albendazole, having a cure rate of 68
84%. Albendazole 400 mg may be used as a single dose or repeated for two days,
and produces a cure in 46 100%. Another option is ivermectin, which is used off
label for this purpose, a single oral dose of 12 mg being effective in 81 100%.
Moreover, the relapse rate is very low with this drug. Antibacterial or antibiotic
ointments are used to treat secondary infections of the inflamed
Analysis Of saturn His Son, At The Museum Of El Prado...
I first saw this painting, Saturn Devouring His Son, at the Museum of El Prado
alongside the other Black Paintings. My initial reaction was of fear. These are
artworks that should not be simply seen in front of a computer screen. The thickness
of the paint and the careful attention to details; these are things that are missed if not
seen in person. Upon walking into the small room the first paintingthat draws the
attention of visitors is this painting. Not only is this a grotesque piece in an
otherwise frightening room, Saturn also looks like he s rather enjoying this action,
and his intense glare from his bulging eyes gives the impression as if you (the
viewer) are the next target. The goal for this essay is to show Goya s way of
depicting events that have affected not only society but him personally.
It is a mythological subject that literally shows Saturn devouring his son. Light is
very important as it focuses directly on the face of Saturn and the body of his son.
It is a blinding light that leaves the dark background with a feeling of gloominess.
The composition revolves around a single plane in which Saturn is placed devouring
his victim. The dark background marks the sense of depth. Violent motion appreciates
both his posture, and his mouth. His face reflects an expression of drama and
tenebrism. The predominant color on the drawing emphasizes the dark tones that
contrast with the clarity of the body of the victim. His deformity produces more
drama in the scene.
Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems
Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems: Linear programming is one of the
qualitative tools in the decision making process of Operations Research. Similar with
the other methods in Operations Research, linear programming consists of a series of
mathematical optimization and simulation means and models. Currently, the use of
linear programming in providing optimized solutions has helped in lessening costs
significantly across medium and large sized organizations in various industrialized
countries. As a result, many researchers state that the development of linear
programming model is one of the most important scientific developments in the
second part of the 20th Century. In the healthcare field, linear programming has
proven to be an alternative to various critical aspects such as planning brachytherapy,
in which it has replaced the conventional solutions depending on trial and error.
Moreover, linear programming method has been used develop balanced diets at lesser
costs and adhering to a set of nutritional limitations.
Background Information: Hospital malnutrition or problems associated with
economics and nutrition in the hospital were identified more than three decades ago
though they are still overlooked today. This is because the health facility has not
included nutrition screening, evaluation, and intervention measures as part of the
medical care. As a result, hospital malnutrition continues to be an unidentified or
unrecognized aspect in clinical settings. The

which is a fogging system. How does the system work?
The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system
utilizes very high pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a
pump with high quality and delivery lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly
10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then, these fine droplets are quickly
evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. In order to offer an excellent
cooling; fog cooling systems use something called flash evaporation (Giacomelli,
2003). Fog Evaporative cooling
According to Al Amri, (2000) evaporative cooling is the chill that the person... Show

For better performance, cooling fans sometimes are added for the purpose of air
circulation in closed areas, where the expected temperature will differ based on the
climatic conditions, where cooling to 12В°C is possible under the best circumstances
(Yuwana et al., 2011). Evaporative Cooling
Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in
many aspects. But it works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in
2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with (1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny
droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the evaporation rate is
influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is
proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing
the clogging nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003).
The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles
(0.5 in; 1.3 cm) PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure,
stainless steel and it could produce a water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at
(1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500 lb in 2) pressure. The
effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate
inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging,
is determined and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the
Klamath River Basin Research Paper
The Klamath River basin has been one the most productive watersheds and lake
systems in the world. It houses over one third of the world s pintail ducks and
dozens of shoebird species. The basin has a plethora of salmon species and some of
the largest trout in the world. The basin had four dams that offered hydroelectric
power and water to the surrounding areas. This area was used to its full potential and
had experienced serious distress to the biodiversityand damage to the aquatic
ecosystem. In 2002, the riversaw a die off of over 33,000 adult salmon which really
brought attention to the issue.
The basin is dealing with low water levels that are polluted from the agriculture sector
that surrounds the area. It houses 11 fish species, native

  • 2. Coral Reef Symbiotic Relationships The planet is made of up different ecosystems that encompass the animals, vegetation, and nonliving factors. The environmental conditions are dependent on the location and type of ecosystem. There are a large number of ecosystems, ranging from conditions found in the tundra to conditions found in the desert. Each of these types of ecosystemrelies on a delicate balance maintained by the symbiotic relationships within its organisms and nonliving components. These symbiotic relationships are a result of the benefits provided by the organisms of the ecosystem. These benefits exist because of the biodiversitywithin the organisms. Therefore, biodiversity is responsible for the balance of ecosystems and the planet. However, biodiversity and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This creates a large range of biodiversity. Biodiversity is the diversity and variation of the genes present in an area. The larger amounts of biodiversity in an ecosystem, the larger amounts of biodiversity there is in the world. There are two types of biodiversity: genetic biodiversity and ecological biodiversity. Genetic biodiversity is the difference of genes within a species. For example, there are different breeds of dogs such as great Danes and Chihuahuas. Each of these breeds possesses different genetics, causing variation within the species. Ecological biodiversity is the variation of genetics between ecosystems and habitats. For example, forests located in Colorado will have different genetic and interactions than forests located in Virginia. Genetic and ecological biodiversity are responsible for the difference within ecosystems and the success of the planet
  • 3. The Psychological Theories Of Alcohol Dependence, Social... Newspaper headlines and public heath reports continually remind us that many abuse alcohol. Despite its many associated consequences, such as: increased hospital admissions, deaths, road accidents and assaults; alcohol dependence remains a prominent issue in today s society. But what causes alcohol dependence? This essay will critically discuss and compare two psychological theories of alcohol dependence, social learning theory and alcohol expectancy theory. Bandura s Social Learning Theory and Its Application to Alcohol Dependency Social learning theory is the cumulative works of many psychologists and sociologists, the most influential of these, was Bandura (1969, 1977 and 1986) whose works were the first to combine the principles of cognitive psychology and those of behavioural learning (the two prominent theories of the time). Bandura s (1969, 1977 and 1986) social learning theory contained four major constructs: differential reinforcement (differing consequences for a specific behaviour dependent on the social context and situation), vicarious learning (acquiring new behaviours by observing said behaviours being reinforced in others or through communication), cognitive processes (the belief that cognitive processes such as information retrieval, encoding and organizing, regulate behaviour) and triadic reciprocity (a principle that says, the environment, cognitions and behaviour all mutually influence each other). Bandura applied the early versions of these constructs
  • 4. A Visit to MableВґs Fables, a Toronto Bookstore A visit to Mable s Fables was totally a new experience for me. First of all this was my first visit to any bookstore so I wasn t expecting anything fancy except some children books on shelves , some kids and their parents. But I am glad to say that I was wrong. FIG 1 Mabel s Fables is one of the oldest children s bookstores in Toronto. They have been bringing kids closer to books and literature since 1988.They completed their 25th year anniversary last year in 2013. I visited the bookstore on 14th of February 2014.Most of the section was covered with red purple, blue, white and yellow. Most of the interior is with purple white and yellow. As it was valentines that s why there was touch of color red everywhere. The place has been designed and painted in such a way that it sooths your eyes as soon u walk in the store. The color combination mesmerized me so much and had no option but to ask one of the staff members about who chooses the color scheme, the pattern, and the answer I got blew me off. The answer was it s the staff members and manager that decide about how the things should be setup with what color scheme as they keep on changing it now and then according to the occasions. Mable s fable is divided into 2 floors where the books are organised according to age. The ground floor is children section starting from babies till 10 years old kids. The books and display material over here were very colorful with bold titles. I found some of the books of our course in this
  • 5. Oliver Road Survey On 03/08/2017 Deputies were dispatched to the area of 120th Ave and Oliver Road for a traffic complaint. The reporting party advised a vehicle was parked near the tracks and when a train approached three occupants got out of their vehicle and stood in the roadway. Other deputies were en route to this call when another call came out and other units were needed elsewhere. After finishing with my current assignment I responded to this call. At approximately 16:43 hours I arrived in the area of 120th Ave and Oliver Road. Once I turned east I saw a blue truck parked in the roadway. As I approached the vehicle I noticed three people sitting the guardrail to the railroad crossing arm. I approached the three and asked them to step away from the tracks and towards me. The three did so without hesitation. A male, who I know from previous encounters as Richard Wayne Hamilton, asked why the Sheriff s Office was called when they weren t doing anything wrong. I explained to Richard that his vehicle was blocking the lane of travel and when I approached they were trespassing on railroad property. Richard stated he was not trespassing as the group had been given permission by BNSF Police given that they were not parked on the tracks and were clear of the tracks as trains were traveling through the area. I told Richard I would contact BNSF Police and verify this information.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figures 2.0 to 2.3 show the geographic location of Davis, CA. The maps were created using the United States Census Bureau American Factfinder website. Figure 2.0 shows California and the location of Yolo County (). This map was created using the Reference Map feature tool on the American FactFinder main page. In the Find a Location tab on the subsequent page I chose place name under the Find by header and searched for Yolo County, California . The search results produced a map that was centered on Yolo County. To highlight Yolo County I used the Select Geography tab and chose County . I clicked on Yolo County to select it and clicked Add To Your Selections to highlight it yellow. Once Yolo County was highlighted, I used the zoom bar to zoom out to a level that would show the entire state to show the location of Yolo County relative to California. At this distance, the only features shown are state boundaries and names, major roads, major cities, water bodies, terrain (mountains and valleys), and the boundary of Yolo County. You ... A map scale is a proportion between the distance on a map and a corresponding distance on the ground (Chapter 2 section 5). The conventional nomenclature for this proportion is Dm/Dg where Dm stands for map distance and Dg stands for ground distance (Chapter 2 section 5). Representative fractions have Dm equal to 1 and are formatted as 1:Dg (Chapter 2 section 5). The bar scales on the maps provide a visual representation of the distance on the map and the corresponding distance on the ground. • 7. Samuel Colt Research Paper Samuel Colt s Revolving Chamber Samuel Colt s development of the revolving pistol had a rough start. However, after the Colt Walker got its chance during the Mexican American War it proved to be a handy side arm in giving America the upper hand. The Mexican army had outdated weaponry and could not upgrade as they would have to wait for the shipment to be imported from overseas. The new concept of a revolving multishot firearmhas influenced our military and police force. Since 1847 when Colt got its start, it has been with the american people up to today. In 1895, Theodore Roosevelt, the President of the Board of Commissioners with the NYPD, ordered 4,500 Colt New Police revolvers to be the standard pistol for police officers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mexican American war was where the Colt revolver really showed what it s got. The Texas rangers ordered 1,000 Colt Walkers to use in the war. Since the revolving chamber was a new addition to the handgun category it really came in handy with close quarter combat. The mexican army still had outdated weaponry. The Mexican army would have to wait for guns to be imported overseas so that was no option. With their armory out of date and the Americans equipped with revolving chamber America obviously had the upper hand. The colt has helped us win wars, it has shaped our police force, has it done anything else for us? Yes, it has been quoted as The gun with won the west . When you think of the early west you probably think of the old shoot outs. They have been shown in movies to be pretty cool, but what if the ranger missed the bandit? Without the Colt revolver he would have to put the gunpowder into the chamber and loaded in the bullet. A lot less interesting, however the revolver could fire and kill someone in no time. The colt peacemaker helped the rangers defend their towns from outlaws. One of the most famous shootouts in the history of the west was Tombstone Arizona. There were 30 shots fired in 30 seconds, the speed was due to the revolving

We created a Theme chart and a sub theme chart from the largest theme. These charts can be seen below. The top three themes were 1) Social Justice, which was mainly comprised of soundbites focused on the Toms One For One motto and their positive impact on those less fortunate 2) Style, which was largely focused on the look of the shoes and 3) what we named Purchase/ want, this category was comprised of soundbites in which people were talking about a purchase they had just made or stating that they really wanted to purchase a certain pair, more pairs or every pair of Toms. People mentioned One Day Without Shoes mostly on the event date and then it began to decrease and stopped within a week. There were 88% positive and 12% negative comments. Some people thought it was nasty and gross to go without shoes in crowded or public areas, but the majority thought that it supported a good cause and were willing as well as excited to join the campaign. Many people shared their good experience of being barefoot on that day, which is what we expected. However, similar to the analysis of the pre event date, the number of mentions quite still pretty small. Most of the stream came from twitter. We recommend Toms improve their campaign. Not entirely change the campaign but make a minor change in order to make it more exciting and so that it is not exactly the same every year. We think that this will help boost participation and therefore awareness of the brands mission. One way Toms could accomplish this is by arranging a video competition, which would ask people to make their own video doing their daily activities barefoot. They would then be asked to post the videos on Toms Facebook. Whomevers video got the most likes would win a reward or prize. Perhaps even a trip to one of the countries where Toms gives there shoes away so that the dedicated customer could help deliver the shoes and experience first hand how impactful
  • 9. Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill Abstract In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was experimentally investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction coefficient, discharge coefficient, submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with different hydraulic parameters were analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of dimensional and regression analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating the studied parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged radial gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately downstream the stilling basin of some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill in Egypt. Keywords: Radial gate; gate sill; submerged flow characteristics; submerged hydraulic jump; velocity field. 1.Introduction Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control structures in many irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to regulate both water level and flow discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are preferred over vertical sluice gates for several advantages. They require smaller hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow disturbance, and provide better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as either free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and
  • 10. Edwin Locke And Gary Latham Edwin Locke and Gary Latham will be the first ones to openly admit there are active limitations with the goal setting theory. It is not uncommon for individual goals to conflict with organizational goals. Moreover, research has proven complex goals have sparked motivation in teams to implement strategies with substantially high amounts of risk (Knight, Durham, Locke, 2001). Sometimes people will believe higher risk strategies produce the greatest returns, yet high risk goals consistently result in failure as well (Knight et. al, 2001). Additionally, when individuals simultaneously create two goals there is a greater chance they exert too much energy and focus on achieving just one of those goals. This can lead to one of the goals not receiving enough attention, which can potentially result in the person failing to reach the end result in either goal. In short, these are three common limitations of goal setting that typically draw concerns from other researchers and theorists. However, it is important people are aware of the limitations that do not receive as much attention, such as team goal setting, unethical behavior in high performance goals, and subconscious goals. Team Goal Setting According to Arraya, Pellissier, and Preto (2015), team goal setting involves much more than merely goal setting. The three authors conducted a study on team goal setting in the sports industry. The study revolved around three major factors: goal orientation, collectivism, and

The rules, invented by James Naismith, were going to be auctioned at Sotheby s in New York City. However, the author of this article is biased towards Duke. Describing Swade as obnoxious is one example of the bias Bellamy includes throughout his article. No facts are used to prove that Swade s behavior is obnoxious whatsoever. In fact, Swade s behavior shows how determined he was to bring the rules back to their rightful home. Obnoxious or not, Swade and other KU fans had sentimental feeling towards the document of rules that would have made innumerable amounts of KU fans disappointed if the rules were not placed safely back in Lawrence, Kansas. Correspondingly, the affectionate feelings KU had towards the rules and basketball tied together the reasoning to bring the rules back to their rightful home in Lawrence,

The Good The Bad And The Daily Show Analysis The utilization of The Daily Show In the article, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show , Jason Zinser, a teacher at the University of North Florida, discusses the coverage of fake entertainment news. Zinser effectively argues the different benefits and disadvantages of entertaining news. When reading this article, one can find that Zinser uses emotional appeals to create a sense of intentness to his readers, uses ethical appeals to create trust from his readers, and uses logical appeals to inform readers of the difference between humorus news and undeniable news. Zinser utilizes his readers emotional appeal, pathos, to prove that fake news programs, such as The Daily Showwith Jon Stewart, use deception and dilution (365). Impact of Social Networking Sites Usage on Student s Academic Performance in Pakistan Abstract Purpose This research paper examines the impact of the usage of social networking sites (SNS) on the academic performance of the students in universities. The impact has been studied in relation to three variables acting as moderators to the usage of social networking sites which in turn helps to enquire the variation of academic performance of the students regarding that usage. The Independent variable is the SNS usage, the mediator is the Technology. The demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students use of and attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate, interact and gather information (Raacke Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are also situated at rural areas like Comsats Vehari . He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the North. One point of contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan restructured the Society with the aim of maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The restructuring however ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was asked in 1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood fast in opposing the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin, said: Better is poor singing where love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches of Christ and the Christian Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This was mostly based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated that more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of instrumental music. (Humble 65). Environmental Management Of Mining From New Acland Coal Mine ENVM3305 Environmental Management in Mining Field report New Acland Coal Mine Name: SГўmara Oliveira Student number: s4338824 INTRODUCTION The minerals are indispensable for the maintenance of industrial activity, since products such as automobiles, machinery, tractors, cement, among others, are manufactured from raw materials coming from this extraction and that these activities are often energetically dependents on certain minerals, such as coal for example. However, the mining activity promotes direct impacts on nature, leading to environmental degradation. It is an activity that extracts resources that are on the ground or underground, from where various types of minerals (gold, silver, iron ore, tin, bauxite, and many others) are removed. Like all exploitation of natural resources, the mining activity causes impacts on the environment both in the exploitation of natural areas and waste generation. It intensely alters the mined area and the surrounding areas, where deposits of waste and tailings are made. Furthermore, when we have the presence of harmful chemicals in the ore processing stage, this could mean a serious problem from an environmental point of view (de Freitas, 2014). According to Souza Silva (2007), the main problems arising from the mining can be grouped into five categories: water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, land subsidence, fires caused by coal and radioactive waste. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec capital which is located in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a major urban center and as the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish. Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining whether or not an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with favorable ecology allows for resources such as agriculture to be produced near or within the city. However, agriculture is not the only element of ecology that allows for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers, lakes, elevation, mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not a location has favorable ecology (28). Tenochtitlan is often compared to Europe s Venice due to its structure and location within the Valley of Mexico . The landscape of the Valley of Mexico consisted of multiple lakes and resembled a water filled

In this sport a player can run, kick and pass with the ball but they are not allowed to pass the ball forward. It is a contact sport as the players can tackle the opponent/opposition in order to get the ball. There are three ways to score points in rugby, which is by a try, a conversion and a goal kick. Nature vs Nurture Nature vs. Nurture The Nature versus Nurture debate concerns the relative importance of an individual s innate qualities versus personal experiences in determining or causing differences in physical and behavioral traits. (Ridley, Matt. What Makes You Who You Are. Time Magazine. 25 May 2003). Almost everyone in any related field has an opinion as to which is truly more important, nature or nurture. The director of a group called the Minnesota Study of Twins Reared Apart, Thomas Bouchard, believes that 70 percent of a person s personality is genetic and 30 percent is due to environment. The director of the Lewisville Twin Study, Adam Matheny, however, says it is 50 50. In my opinion, both nature and nurture are very important. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One twin might get cancer while the other is not susceptible, for example. Many identical twins clearly behave differently as they grow older, and some even grow to look less alike. Such differences don t have anything to do with the twins identical DNA, which is like the software of life, but in how genes express themselves. The differences stem from chemical modifications in the genes over the years. These effects are the result of chemical exposure, dietary habits, and other environmental factors, scientists believe. Other studies have shown that the brains of identical twins look different upon close inspection of the wiring. Personality is a frequently cited example of a heritable trait that has been studied in twins and adoptions. Identical twins reared apart are more similar in personality than randomly selected pairs of people. Likewise, identical twins are more similar than fraternal twins. Also, biological siblings are more similar in personality than adoptive siblings. Each suggests that personality is a heritable trait. At the same time, the influences on a child s development of the environment in which he or she grows up is also well substantiated, both scientifically and by common sense. For example, children raised in orphanages can turn out just fine, in fact many of them marry and have children. It seems not important whether or not they have families or children, but how those families are

At the same, the nation wants graduates to excel in their technical and analytical skill but the decrease in educational funds are contradicting and raise concern. They also had the opportunity to examine pelts and see a variety of taxidermy animal species at the museum provided in the park. After this experience the students were then asked to take a post two assessment. This assessment was the exact same assessment as the two given prior. The students were asked to draw and label a taiga ecosystem including five animals, five plants and five non living organisms. This type of data collection is an open ended questionnaire. The questionnaire is open ended because the students were not given specific organisms that they had to draw and label so the answers can vary. This type of data is justifiable because it is aligned with the NGSS standard 2 LS4 1 (NGSS 2013). This standard states that students will make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats. If students have proven to make
  • 38. Battlefield Vs. Call Of Duty Game BATTLEFIELD VERSUS CALL OF DUTY The Battlefield franchise is one of the top selling shooter games of all times. It is best known for its real life recreation of all out war. This game is a first person shooter team based game. Almost like an arcade game with the guns on the side of it. Since 2002 the game has been loved by those who consider themselves game players. Battlefield was different from any other game you could know. Most shooter games are individual based, but what makes Battlefield different is you must work with a team. For example, flag football is a team based game you need everyone doing their part to capture the flag. No one has ever seen a game which required team effort online with random people before in the history of video gaming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The game is an interactive shooting game video game, which will contribute to the history of those individuals within the industry. Activision is the company that created this game. This franchise is known for its fast paced online multiplayer games. Multiplayer is where you play with other players that have the same game as you (It is like playing chess online). With Call of Duty, you can talk to a person constantly with no wait within the game which requires a microphone? Nevertheless, with Call of Duty you are a lone wolf by yourself without anyone actively playing or interaction with others. You as a player must decide what s best for you even though you are on a team. Think about the saying Every man for themselves there the title provides the individual with insight or prior knowledge about this particular game. It is a war game, but it is more on a smaller scale it is not based on real life more on lines of a dream or an action movie that can t be
  • 39. Soil Pollution Presently, most cars run on gasoline and thus gas stations are vital to our everyday life. In urban cities, gas stations are found in just about every other corner. It has already been documented that burning gasoline produces toxic fumes that contributes to air pollution, global warming, and many health concerns. Soil surrounding a gas station can also be contaminated with gasoline and generate soil pollution. In comparison with air, soil is more complex in composition and function. It functions as a sink for pollutants, as a filter which delays the passage of chemicals to groundwater, and as a bioreactor for organic life. Just as gas is a source of fuel for cars, soil is an essential component of the earth s ecosystem. It serves as a home to many microbes and provides the necessary nutrients to plants that dwell in it. The pondus hyrdogenii (pH) indicates a solution s acidity and alkalinity. A pH value of 7 is considered neutral. A solution with a pH between 0 to 7 is acid and one between 7 to 14 is alkaline. Most biological organisms including plants have a very narrow range of pH values in which environmental substrates can survive. Plants prefer acidic substances. This leads to the following questions: Are gas stations in El Paso, Texas a contributing factor to soil contamination? Do Gas Stations Cause Soil Contamination? Soil around the world is a habitat for numerous plants and animals. However, every day, certain patches of soil are perhaps being
  • 40. Symbolism In Tillie Olsen s I Stand Here Ironing The story I Stand Here Ironing , by Tillie Olsen, showcases a mother standing in her house, ironing, and thinking of her daughter, Emily. She thinks back on her life since her daughter s birth and wonders if she was a good mother to her. Through her thoughts are related her struggle to find work and get custody, the birth of her four other children, Emily s stay at a convalescence home, the hard life through World War II and Emily s blossoming after finding herself a talent for acting. At the end, Emily comes home, seeming happy. Her mother concludes that even though Emily didn t have the easiest childhood, she can still make her life better, without society telling her how. In the story, institutional pressure makes people feel they are not up to their task when they do their best. The Pros And Cons Of The Stamp Act, And The Tea Act Some of the ways in which the colonists responded to British actions between 1765 and 1770 were the Stamp Act, the stationing of British troops in Boston, the Townshend Act, and the Tea Act 33. The Stamp Act was put in place so the colonist would pay tax on every legal paper, license, newspaper, and almanac. The stationing of British troops in Bostonwere because the Boston and Philadelphia both agreed to not give goods or take good from Britain until the Stamp Act was taken away. The Townshend Act was placed a year after the Stamp Act was taken away. In his fury he placed the Intolerable Act shutting down the Boston Harbor until they pay for the damage they made. Economic protest was that the British soldiers did not have any place to sleep so they would just go and sleep at colonist house. The colonist started to get mad about the situation and started to get mad and make a mob and start attacking the other soldiers. The Continental Army was starting to lose hope and getting a lot of setbacks in the beginning why is that? The Continental Army was losing all to almost all of the wars between them and the British Army. Everything changed the Christmas when the Continental Army won their battle against the British the surprise attack was really smart and help them in the war a lot. It always seemed like it was an unnecessary subject until my sophomore year of high school. My life drastically changed when I read Animal Farm by George Orwell. His satire gave me great insight that inspired me into reading his book 1984. It gave me a thirst that I could not satisfy. I started doing something I never did before; I enjoyed and understood what my historyteachers were saying. My next year of high schoolI took United States history where my over enthusiastic teacher intensified my appetite to learn more. This allowed me to better understand the concepts. I aced every test I took; it gave me great joy when my fellow classmates begin to ask for my help. It was not long till
  • 43. Cutaneous Larva Diagnosis Diagnosis and management of cutaneous larva migrans By Dr. Liji Thomas, MD Cutaneous larva migrans is caused by the epidermal migration of the filariform larvae of various hookworm and occasionally, dog tapeworm, species. The most common type is due to the dog/cat hookworm Ancylostoma braziliense. It manifests as a red or vesicular lesion at the site of entry of the larva, usually between the toes of the bare foot. The skin around this papule is usually pruritic. Symptoms of severe itching start immediately after infestation, and are associated with the appearance of an advancing reddish, serpiginous rash. This lesion is usually benign, and lasts for weeks to months. Eventually the larvae, having entered an accidental host, die because they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result they die within weeks or months, and the symptoms vanish. However, the severe itching for several weeks or months may be intolerable. It can lead to scratching with the risk of secondary skin infection. Also, there is a risk of complications, such as impetigo, hyper eosinophilia and allergic reactions to the presence of the larvae. Treatment of cutaneous larva migrans may be done with 10 15% thiabendazole ointment or solution topically three times a day for 15 days. Within 48 hours the itching stops and the rash ceases to advance. The treatment is difficult if there are multiple rashes or hookworm infestation of the skin follicles. Oral thiabendazole is less effective than oral albendazole, having a cure rate of 68 84%. Albendazole 400 mg may be used as a single dose or repeated for two days, and produces a cure in 46 100%. Another option is ivermectin, which is used off label for this purpose, a single oral dose of 12 mg being effective in 81 100%. Moreover, the relapse rate is very low with this drug. Antibacterial or antibiotic ointments are used to treat secondary infections of the inflamed
  • 44. Analysis Of saturn His Son, At The Museum Of El Prado... I first saw this painting, Saturn Devouring His Son, at the Museum of El Prado alongside the other Black Paintings. My initial reaction was of fear. These are artworks that should not be simply seen in front of a computer screen. The thickness of the paint and the careful attention to details; these are things that are missed if not seen in person. Upon walking into the small room the first paintingthat draws the attention of visitors is this painting. Not only is this a grotesque piece in an otherwise frightening room, Saturn also looks like he s rather enjoying this action, and his intense glare from his bulging eyes gives the impression as if you (the viewer) are the next target. The goal for this essay is to show Goya s way of depicting events that have affected not only society but him personally. It is a mythological subject that literally shows Saturn devouring his son. Light is very important as it focuses directly on the face of Saturn and the body of his son. It is a blinding light that leaves the dark background with a feeling of gloominess. The composition revolves around a single plane in which Saturn is placed devouring his victim. The dark background marks the sense of depth. Violent motion appreciates both his posture, and his mouth. His face reflects an expression of drama and tenebrism. The predominant color on the drawing emphasizes the dark tones that contrast with the clarity of the body of the victim. His deformity produces more drama in the scene.
  • 45. Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems: Linear programming is one of the qualitative tools in the decision making process of Operations Research. Similar with the other methods in Operations Research, linear programming consists of a series of mathematical optimization and simulation means and models. Currently, the use of linear programming in providing optimized solutions has helped in lessening costs significantly across medium and large sized organizations in various industrialized countries. As a result, many researchers state that the development of linear programming model is one of the most important scientific developments in the second part of the 20th Century. In the healthcare field, linear programming has proven to be an alternative to various critical aspects such as planning brachytherapy, in which it has replaced the conventional solutions depending on trial and error. Moreover, linear programming method has been used develop balanced diets at lesser costs and adhering to a set of nutritional limitations. Background Information: Hospital malnutrition or problems associated with economics and nutrition in the hospital were identified more than three decades ago though they are still overlooked today. This is because the health facility has not included nutrition screening, evaluation, and intervention measures as part of the medical care. As a result, hospital malnutrition continues to be an unidentified or unrecognized aspect in clinical settings. The
  • 46. This chapter includes general information related to the... This chapter includes general information related to the main subject of this project which is a fogging system. How does the system work? The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system utilizes very high pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a pump with high quality and delivery lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly 10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then, these fine droplets are quickly evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. In order to offer an excellent cooling; fog cooling systems use something called flash evaporation (Giacomelli, 2003). Fog Evaporative cooling According to Al Amri, (2000) evaporative cooling is the chill that the person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For better performance, cooling fans sometimes are added for the purpose of air circulation in closed areas, where the expected temperature will differ based on the climatic conditions, where cooling to 12В°C is possible under the best circumstances (Yuwana et al., 2011). Evaporative Cooling Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in many aspects. But it works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in 2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with (1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the evaporation rate is influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing the clogging nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003). The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles (0.5 in; 1.3 cm) PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure, stainless steel and it could produce a water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at (1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500 lb in 2) pressure. The effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging, is determined and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the

It houses over one third of the world s pintail ducks and dozens of shoebird species. The basin has a plethora of salmon species and some of the largest trout in the world. The basin had four dams that offered hydroelectric power and water to the surrounding areas. This area was used to its full potential and had experienced serious distress to the biodiversityand damage to the aquatic ecosystem. In 2002, the riversaw a die off of over 33,000 adult salmon which really brought attention to the issue. The basin is dealing with low water levels that are polluted from the agriculture sector that surrounds the area. It houses 11 fish species, native
