1) The document discusses speed control of a universal motor using two controllers - an output rate controller and an output reset controller. Ant colony optimization is used to tune the parameters of the controllers.
2) Mathematical models of the universal motor are developed. Simulation results show that the proposed ant colony optimization technique tunes the controllers' parameters optimally, improving their performance for speed control of the motor under varying load conditions.
3) The tuning results in zero overshoot and undershoot, slight rise and settling times, and a fast response for the motor speed when subjected to different load disturbances.

Investigating the Intelligent Methods of Loss Minimization in Induction MotorsTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Induction motors are widely used in industry. Given the increasing demand for electric machines in
different industries, optimization of these machines to achieve a high efficiency with low cost is of utmost
importance. Loss-minimization in motor is done in three ways: 1) optimizing motor selection and design; 2)
improving motor power supply waveforms; and 3) using appropriate controlling methods in drives. Often,
inductive motors provide the maximum efficiency in their nominal load. In most applications it is necessary for
a motor to work in light loads for a long time, e.g. in conveyors, elevators, etc. In these conditions, the
machine load is not the nominal load, and a higher percentage of the input power is lost. So, in the case of
variable load, the first and second methods cannot increase the efficiency; but the third method provides a
large flexibility in decreasing motor losses. In this paper, the application of the third method in lossminimization
is reviewed. These motor losses are mostly related to the controlling strategy and basically
occur in light-load conditions. There are various strategies to decrease this kind of losses, which are generally
divided into two categories: classic methods and intelligent methods. In this paper, first the classic methods,
including losses model control (LMC), flux control as a function of torque and search control (SC), are
discussed. Then the intelligent methods, such as genetic algorithm, PSO, fuzzy logic and artificial neural
network are investigated. This paper is presented while the last methods of efficiency improvement are being
investigated and each method is described briefly.

A Novel Technique for Tuning PI-controller in Switched Reluctance Motor Drive...IJECEIAES
This paper presents, an optimal basic speed controller for switched reluctance motor (SRM) based on ant colony optimization (ACO) with the presence of good accuracies and performances. The control mechanism consists of proportional-integral (PI) speed controller in the outer loop and hysteresis current controller in the inner loop for the three phases, 6/4 switched reluctance motor. Because of nonlinear characteristics of a SRM, ACO algorithm is employed to tune coefficients of PI speed controller by minimizing the time domain objective function. Simulations of ACO based control of SRM are carried out using MATLAB /SIMULINK software. The behavior of the proposed ACO has been estimated with the classical Ziegler- Nichols (ZN) method in order to prove the proposed approach is able to improve the parameters of PI chosen by ZN method. Simulations results confirm the better behavior of the optimized PI controller based on ACO compared with optimized PI controller based on classical Ziegler-Nichols method.

Also it shows that both the SS. and dynamic performances are improved by applying of the CSO algorithm. The proposed DTC simulation model of the PMSM is presented using MATLAB / SIMULINK and capable of simulating both the steady-state and dynamic response. Shared Steering Control between a Driver and an Automation: Stability in the ...paperpublications3
Abstract: Now-a-days the Automatic control has been increasingly implemented for vehicle control system. Especially the steering control is essential for preventing accidents. In the existing systems there is no fully automatic steering control and it has serious problems. When it is made automatic, the system complexity is more. So, the shared steering concept is used in the proposed system to avoid accidents. In this, the position of the road is found using the web camera installed in front of the vehicle which is connected to the PC installed with MATLAB. Using MATLAB the image is processed to check the road characteristics. This paper presents an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) for lane keeping, together with an analysis of its performance and stability with respect to variations in driver behavior. The automotive ADAS proposed is designed to share control of the steering wheel with the driver in the best possible way. Its development was derived from an H2-Preview optimization control problem, which is based on a global driver–vehicle–road (DVR) system. The DVR model makes use of a cybernetic driver model to take into account any driver–vehicle interactions. Such a formulation allows 1) Considering driver assistance cooperation criteria in the control synthesis, 2) improving the performance of the assistance as a cooperative copilot, and 3) analyzing the stability of the whole system in the presence of driver model uncertainty. The developed assistance system improved lane-keeping performance and reduced the risk of a lane departure accident. Good results were obtained using several criteria for human–machine cooperation. Poor stability situations were successfully avoided due to the robustness of the whole system, in spite of a large range of driver model uncertainty.
MPPT control design for variable speed wind turbine IJECEIAES
Variable speed wind turbine systems (VSWT’s) have been in receipt of extensive attention among the various renewable energy systems. The present paper focuses on fuzzy fractional order proportional-integral (FFOPI) control segment for variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) directly driving permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The main objective of this study is to reach maximum power point tracking (MPPT) through combination of advanced control based on FFOPI control applied to generator side converter (turbine and PMSG). The basic idea of the FFOPI controller is to implement a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) in cascade with Fractional Order Proportional Integral controller (FOPI). A comparative study with FOPI and classical PI control schemes is made. The traditional PI controller cannot deliver a sufficiently great performance for the VSWT. However, the results found that the proposed approach (FFOPI) is more effective and feasible for controlling the permanent magnet synchronous generator to mantain maximum power extraction. The validation of results has been performed through simulation using Matlab/Simulink®.

This research work introduces an efficient hybrid control methodology through combining the traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) optimal controlher. The proposed hybrid control approach is adopted to design three degree of freedom (3DOF) stabilizing system for helicopter. The gain parameters of the classic PID controller are determined using the elements of the LQR feedback gain matrix. The dynamic behaviour of the LQR based PID controller, is modeled in state space form to enable utlizing state feedback controller technique. The performance of the proposed LQR based LQR controller is improved by using Genetic Algorithm optimization method which are adopted to obtain optimum values for LQR controller gain parameters. The LQR-PID hybrid controller is simulated using Matlab environment and its performance is evaluated based on rise time, settling time, overshoot and steady state error parameters to validate the proposed 3DOF helicopter balancing system. Based on GA tuning approach, the simulation results suggest that the hybrid LQR-PID controller can be effectively employed to stabilize the 3DOF helicopter system.

Adaptive MIMO Fuzzy Compensate Fuzzy Sliding Mode Algorithm: Applied to Secon...CSCJournals
This research is focused on proposed adaptive fuzzy sliding mode algorithms with the adaptation laws derived in the Lyapunov sense. The stability of the closed-loop system is proved mathematically based on the Lyapunov method. Adaptive MIMO fuzzy compensate fuzzy sliding mode method design a MIMO fuzzy system to compensate for the model uncertainties of the system, and chattering also solved by linear saturation method. Since there is no tuning method to adjust the premise part of fuzzy rules so we presented a scheme to online tune consequence part of fuzzy rules. Classical sliding mode control is robust to control model uncertainties and external disturbances. A sliding mode method with a switching control low guarantees the stability of the certain and/or uncertain system, but the addition of the switching control low introduces chattering into the system. One way to reduce or eliminate chattering is to insert a boundary layer method inside of a boundary layer around the sliding surface. Classical sliding mode control method has difficulty in handling unstructured model uncertainties. One can overcome this problem by combining a sliding mode controller and artificial intelligence (e.g. fuzzy logic). To approximate a time-varying nonlinear dynamic system, a fuzzy system requires a large amount of fuzzy rule base. This large number of fuzzy rules will cause a high computation load. The addition of an adaptive law to a fuzzy sliding mode controller to online tune the parameters of the fuzzy rules in use will ensure a moderate computational load. The adaptive laws in this algorithm are designed based on the Lyapunov stability theorem. Asymptotic stability of the closed loop system is also proved in the sense of Lyapunov.

Cuckoo search algorithm based for tunning both PI and FOPID controllers for ...IJECEIAES
Wind Energy has received great attention in this century. It influences the new power systems, adding new challenges to the power system expansion problem. Nowadays, double feed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbines are used majorly in wind farms, due to their advantages over other types. Therefore, the analysis of the system using this type has become very important. In this paper, a wind turbine modelling was introduced with suggested controllers, in order to enhance the system response, with respect to both pitch control and maximum output power. Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), a meta-heuristic optimization technique, was implemented to determine the gains of a proportional-integral (PI) controller and fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller to optimize the system, which considered three control loops: pitch, rotor-side converter, and grid-side converter control loop. Simulation results were determined using MATLAB/Simulink. The comparative analysis of the results showed that the PI Controller gave the simplest and the best response in case of the pitch and rotor-side control loops while the FOPID was the best when applied to the grid-side control loop. Based on the results and discussion, a suggestion of using a compination of each controller was introduced.

To improve the controller performance, it’s parameters are tuned using genetic algorithm (GA) and direct search (DS) techniques. The tuning process based on different performance criteria. The most four common performance criteria used in this paper are JIAE (Integral of Absolute Error), JISE (Integral of Square Error), JITAE (Integral of Time-Weighted Absolute Error), and JITSE (Integral of Time-Weighted Square Error). The results obtained from these evolutionary techniques are compared. The results show an obvious improvement in system performance including enhancing the transient and steady state of PMDCM speed responses for all performance criteria.
Model Validation and Control of an In-Wheel DC Motor Prototype for Hybrid El...Scientific Review SR
In this paper, a mathematical model and a controller for a DC motor are developed for the
construction of an in-wheel motor. In-wheel motors can be used in hybrid electric vehicles to provide traction
force of front or rear wheels. The model identification is achieved using a simple and low cost data acquisition
system. An Arduino Uno embedded board system is used to collect data from sensors to a computer and for
control purposes. Data processing is performed using Matlab/Simulink. Validations of the devel oped
mathematical model and controller performance are carried out by comparing simulation and experimental results.
The results obtained show that the mathematical model is accurate enough to assist in speed controller design and
implementation.
This work proposes an optimization algorithm to control speed of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) during starting and speed reversal of motor, as well as during load disturbance conditions. The objective is to minimize the integral absolute control error of the PMSM shaft speed to achieve fast and accurate speed response under load disturbance and speed reversal conditions. The maximum overshoot, peak time, settling time and rise time of the motor is also minimized to obtain efficient transient speed response. Optimum speed control of PMSM is obtained with the aid of a PID speed controller. Modified Particle Swarm Optimization (MPSO) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) techniques has been employed for tuning of the PID speed controller, to determine its gain coefficients (proportional, integral and derivative). Simulation results demonstrate that with use of MPSO and ACO techniques improved control performance of PMSM can be achieved in comparison to the classical Ziegler-Nichols (Z-N) method of PID tuning.
African vulture optimizer algorithm based vector control induction motor driv...IJECEIAES
This study describes a new optimization approach for three-phase induction motor speed drive to minimize the integral square error for speed controller and improve the dynamic speed performance. The new proposed algorithm, African vulture optimizer algorithm (AVOA) optimizes internal controller parameters of a fuzzy like proportional differential (PD) speed controller. The AVOA is notable for its ease of implementation, minimal number of design parameters, high convergence speed, and low computing burden. This study compares fuzzy-like PD speed controllers optimized with AVOA to adaptive fuzzy logic speed regulators, fuzzy-like PD optimized with genetic algorithm (GA), and proportional integral (PI) speed regulators optimized with AVOA to provide speed control for an induction motor drive system. The drive system is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and laboratory prototype is implemented using DSP-DS1104 board. The results demonstrate that the suggested fuzzy-like PD speed controller optimized with AVOA, with a speed steady state error performance of 0.5% compared to the adaptive fuzzy logic speed regulator’s 0.7%, is the optimum alternative for speed controller. The results clarify the effectiveness of the controllers based on fuzzy like PD speed controller optimized with AVOA for each performance index as it provides lower overshoot, lowers rising time, and high dynamic response.
life cycle cost analysis of a solar energy based hybrid power systemINFOGAIN PUBLICATION
The importance of life-cycle cost analysis of an integrated solar power system is explained in this paper. To analyze the energy power and cash flow computations, there exist many commercial types of energy audit softwares like Emat, Optimizer, Homer, Energy gauge, Treat and so on. Among the aforementioned audit softwares, homer software is selected since it consists of several built-in options to perform audit studies. Homer software basically utilizes the concept of finding the total net present cost to represent the life-cycle cost of the total system. This software is vividly used for obtaining the optimized energy audit solutions to integrate several equipments embedding into a single workable system.
Development of Enhanced Frequency Drive for 3-Phase Induction Motors Submitte...IJERDJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: Three-phase induction motors produce mechanical power by electromagnetic induction and run on a 3-phase ac supply. They require efficient speed control, to enable them do variable speed operations, save power consumption and reduce machine noise. In this dissertation, a new switching device called MosControlled Thyristor (MCT) for frequency drive is introduced. Based on the new switching device and AT89C52 microcontroller, an enhanced frequency drive for controlling the speed and torque of 3-phase 15kW squirrel cage induction motor is modeled. Different voltages ranging from 342V to 415V and frequencies ranging from 50Hz to 60Hz are used in a systematic manner to simulate the system based on the new switching device. The simulation program is written in C language and tested with Proteus 7.6 simulation software. Voltage and frequency have significant impact on the actual speed and torque of the motor. Simulation results show that with the new model, the torque (56.66Nm) developed by the motor which is constant throughout each speed range is directly proportional to the ratio (6.7:1) of the applied voltage and the frequency of the supply and the selected speeds (1450, 1510, 1570, 1630, 1690 and 1750 rpm) are locked irrespective of change in load. This is unlike other models where magnetic saturation and conduction drop of IGBT lead to voltage/frequency imbalance resulting in excessive drawing of current by the motor and overheating. This new control method has a speed regulation of ±2 to 3% of maximum frequency, speed response of 3Hz, speed control range of 1: 40 and efficiency of 88%, as further advantages. Comparison of the system with other speed control techniques shows improved energy-saving, cost effectiveness and safety in operation. The contributions of this research aim to make Volts per Hertz speed control method based on MCT a reliable better alternative to other well known methods in speed control of three-phase induction motors

Optimization of Modified Sliding Mode Controller for an Electro-hydraulic Act...IJECEIAES
This paper presents the design of the modified sliding mode controller (MSMC) for the purpose of tracking the nonlinear system with mismatched disturbance. Provided that the performance of the designed controller depends on the value of control parameters, gravitational search algorithm (GSA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) techniques are used to optimize these parameters in order to achieve a predefined system’s performance. In respect of system’s performance, it is evaluated based on the tracking error present between reference inputs transferred to the system and the system output. This is followed by verification of the efficiency of the designed controller in simulation environment under various values, with and without the inclusion of external disturbance. It can be seen from the simulation results that the MSMC with PSO exhibits a better performance in comparison to the performance of the similar controller with GSA in terms of output response and tracking error.

In this paper we are interested in optimizing the wind power capture, using the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). This machine is preferred to other types of variable speed generator because of their advantages in economic terms and control. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based on Direct Torque Control (DTC) which is used to control the electromagnetic torque in order to extract the maximum power. The main objective of this intelligent technique is to replace the conventional switching table by a voltage selector based on (ANN) to reduce torque and flux ripples. Moreover, the fuzzy logic controller is used to grid side converter to keep DC link voltage constant, and also to achieve unity power factor operation. The main advantage of the two control strategies proposed in this paper is that they are not influenced by the variation of the machine parameter. The pitch control is also presented to limit the generator power at its rated value. Simulation results of 1,5 MW, for (DFIG) based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) confirm the effectiveness and the performance of the global proposed approaches.

The aim of this research is the speed tracking of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using an intelligent Neural-Network based adapative backstepping control. First, the model of PMSM in the Park synchronous frame is derived. Then, the PMSM speed regulation is investigated using the classical method utilizing the field oriented control theory. Thereafter, a robust nonlinear controller employing an adaptive backstepping strategy is investigated in order to achieve a good performance tracking objective under motor parameters changing and external load torque application. In the final step, a neural network estimator is integrated with the adaptive controller to estimate the motor parameters values and the load disturbance value for enhancing the effectiveness of the adaptive backstepping controller. The robsutness of the presented control algorithm is demonstrated using simulation tests. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that the presented NN-adaptive control algorithm can provide good trackingperformances for the speed trackingin the presence of motor parameter variation and load application.
This paper presents a fast and accurate fault detection, classification and direction discrimination algorithm of transmission lines using one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1D-CNNs) that have ingrained adaptive model to avoid the feature extraction difficulties and fault classification into one learning algorithm. A proposed algorithm is directly usable with raw data and this deletes the need of a discrete feature extraction method resulting in more effective protective system. The proposed approach based on the three-phase voltages and currents signals of one end at the relay location in the transmission line system are taken as input to the proposed 1D-CNN algorithm. A 132kV power transmission line is simulated by Matlab simulink to prepare the training and testing data for the proposed 1D- CNN algorithm. The testing accuracy of the proposed algorithm is compared with other two conventional methods which are neural network and fuzzy neural network. The results of test explain that the new proposed detection system is efficient and fast for classifying and direction discrimination of fault in transmission line with high accuracy as compared with other conventional methods under various conditions of faults.
Among the most widespread renewable energy sources is solar energy; Solar panels offer a green, clean, and environmentally friendly source of energy. In the presence of several advantages of the use of photovoltaic systems, the random operation of the photovoltaic generator presents a great challenge, in the presence of a critical load. Among the most used solutions to overcome this problem is the combination of solar panels with generators or with the public grid or both. In this paper, an energy management strategy is proposed with a safety aspect by using artificial neural networks (ANNs), in order to ensure a continuous supply of electricity to consumers with a maximum solicitation of renewable energy.
In this paper, the artificial neural network (ANN) has been utilized for rotating machinery faults detection and classification. First, experiments were performed to measure the lateral vibration signals of laboratory test rigs for rotor-disk-blade when the blades are defective. A rotor-disk-blade system with 6 regular blades and 5 blades with various defects was constructed. Second, the ANN was applied to classify the different x- and y-axis lateral vibrations due to different blade faults. The results based on training and testing with different data samples of the fault types indicate that the ANN is robust and can effectively identify and distinguish different blade faults caused by lateral vibrations in a rotor. As compared to the literature, the present paper presents a novel work of identifying and classifying various rotating blade faults commonly encountered in rotating machines using ANN. Experimental data of lateral vibrations of the rotor-disk-blade system in both x- and y-directions are used for the training and testing of the network.

Kosovo has limited renewable energy resources and its power generation sector is based on fossil fuels. Such a situation emphasizes the importance of active research and efficient use of renewable energy potential. According to the analysis of meteorological data for Kosovo, it can be concluded that among the most attractive potential wind power sites are the locations known as Kitka (42° 29' 41" N and 21° 36' 45" E) and Koznica (42° 39′ 32″ N, 21° 22′30″E). The two terrains in which the analysis was carried out are mountain areas, with altitudes of 1142 m (Kitka) and 1230 m (Koznica). the same measuring height, about 84 m above the ground, is obtained for these average wind speeds: Kitka 6,667 m/s and Koznica 6,16 m/s. Since the difference in wind speed is quite large versus a difference in altitude that is not being very large, analyses are made regarding the terrain characteristics including the terrain relief features. In this paper it will be studied how much the roughness of the terrain influences the output energy. Also, that the assumption to be taken the same as to how much they will affect the annual energy produced.
Large-scale grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) station are increasing rapidly. However, this large penetration of PV system creates frequency fluctuation in the grid due to the intermittency of solar irradiance. Therefore, in this paper, a robust droop control mechanism of the battery energy storage system (BESS) is developed in order to damp the frequency fluctuation of the multi-machine grid system due to variable active power injected from the PV panel. The proposed droop control strategy incorporates frequency error signal and dead-band for effective minimization of frequency fluctuation. The BESS system is used to consume/inject an effective amount of active power based upon the frequency oscillation of the grid system. The simulation analysis is carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software to prove the effectiveness of the proposed droop control-based BESS system. The simulation result implies that the proposed scheme can efficiently curtail the frequency oscillation.

The modified module suggested in this study produced 5% more PV power than the two-dimensional solar tracking systems without reflector and produced 12.5% more PV power than the fixed PV module with 26⁰ tilt angle.
This paper focuses on the modeling and control of a wind energy conversion chain using a permanent magnet synchronous machine. This system behaves a turbine, a generator, DC/DC and DC/AC power converters. These are connected on both sides to the DC bus, where the inverter is followed by a filter which is connected to the grid. In this paper, we have been used two types of controllers. For the stator side converter, we consider the Takagi-Sugeno approach where the parameters of controller have been computed by the theory of linear matrix inequalities. The stability synthesis has been checked using the Lyapunov theory. According to the grid side converter, the proportional integral controller is exploited to keep a constant voltage on the DC bus and control both types of powers. The simulation results demonstrate the robustness of the approach used.
The development of modeling wind speed plays a very important in helping to obtain the actual wind speed data for the benefit of the power plant planning in the future. The wind speed in this paper is obtained from a PCE-FWS 20 type measuring instrument with a duration of 30 minutes which is accumulated into monthly data for one year (2019). Despite the many wind speed modeling that has been done by researchers. Modeling wind speeds proposed in this study were obtained from the modified Rayleigh distribution. In this study, the Rayleigh scale factor (Cr) and modified Rayleigh scale factor (Cm) were calculated. The observed wind speed is compared with the predicted wind characteristics. The data fit test used correlation coefficient (R2), root means square error (RMSE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The results of the proposed modified Rayleigh model provide very good results for users.

The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the current state of renewable energy resources in Bangladesh, as well as to examine various forms of renewable energies in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of how to address Bangladesh's power crisis issues in a sustainable manner. Electricity is currently the most useful kind of energy in Bangladesh. It has a substantial influence on a country's socioeconomic standing and living standards. Maintaining a stable source of energy at a cost that is affordable to everyone has been a constant battle for decades. Bangladesh is blessed with a wealth of natural resources. Bangladesh has a huge opportunity to accelerate its economic development while increasing energy access, livelihoods, and health for millions of people in a sustainable way due to the renewable energy system.
When the irradiance distribution over the photovoltaic panels is uniform, the pursuit of the maximum power point is not reached, which has allowed several researchers to use traditional MPPT techniques to solve this problem Among these techniques a PSO algorithm is used to have the maximum global power point (GMPPT) under partial shading. On the other hand, this one is not reliable vis-à-vis the pursuit of the MPPT. Therefore, in this paper we have treated another technique based on a new modified PSO algorithm so that the power can reach its maximum point. The PSO algorithm is based on the heuristic method which guarantees not only the obtaining of MPPT but also the simplicity of control and less expensive of the system. The results are obtained using MATLAB show that the proposed modified PSO algorithm performs better than conventional PSO and is robust to different partial shading models.
A stable operation of wind turbines connected to the grid is an essential requirement to ensure the reliability and stability of the power system. To achieve such operational objective, installing static synchronous compensator static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) as a main compensation device guarantees the voltage stability enhancement of the wind farm connected to distribution network at different operating scenarios. STATCOM either supplies or absorbs reactive power in order to ensure the voltage profile within the standard-margins and to avoid turbine tripping, accordingly. This paper present new study that investigates the most suitable-location to install STATCOM in a distribution system connected wind farm to maintain the voltage-levels within the stability margins. For a large-scale squirrel cage induction generator squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG-based) wind turbine system, the impact of STATCOM installation was tested in different places and voltage-levels in the distribution system. The proposed method effectiveness in enhancing the voltage profile and balancing the reactive power is validated, the results were repeated for different scenarios of expected contingencies. The voltage profile, power flow, and reactive power balance of the distribution system are observed using MATLAB/Simulink software.
The electrical and environmental parameters of polymer solar cells (PSC) provide important information on their performance. In the present article we study the influence of temperature on the voltage-current (I-V) characteristic at different temperatures from 10 °C to 90 °C, and important parameters like bandgap energy Eg, and the energy conversion efficiency η. The one-diode electrical model, normally used for semiconductor cells, has been tested and validated for the polemeral junction. The PSC used in our study are formed by the poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). Our technique is based on the combination of two steps; the first use the Least Mean Squares (LMS) method while the second use the Newton-Raphson algorithm. The found results are compared to other recently published works, they show that the developed approach is very accurate. This precision is proved by the minimal values of statistical errors (RMSE) and the good agreement between both the experimental data and the I-V simulated curves. The obtained results show a clear and a monotonic dependence of the cell efficiency on the studied parameters.
The inverter is the principal part of the photovoltaic (PV) systems that assures the direct current/alternating current (DC/AC) conversion (PV array is connected directly to an inverter that converts the DC energy produced by the PV array into AC energy that is directly connected to the electric utility). In this paper, we present a simple method for detecting faults that occurred during the operation of the inverter. These types of faults or faults affect the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the photovoltaic system, especially the inverter, which is the main component responsible for the conversion. Hence, we have shown first the faults obtained in the case of the short circuit. Second, the open circuit failure is studied. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Good monitoring and detection of faults in the inverter can increase the system's reliability and decrease the undesirable faults that appeared in the PV system. The system behavior is tested under variable parameters and conditions using MATLAB/Simulink.
The electrical distribution network is undergoing tremendous modifications with the introduction of distributed generation technologies which have led to an increase in fault current levels in the distribution network. Fault current limiters have been developed as a promising technology to limit fault current levels in power systems. Though, quite a number of fault current limiters have been developed; the most common are the superconducting fault current limiters, solid-state fault current limiters, and saturated core fault current limiters. These fault current limiters present potential fault current limiting solutions in power systems. Nevertheless, they encounter various challenges hindering their deployment and commercialization. This research aimed at designing a bridge-type nonsuperconducting fault current limiter with a novel topology for distribution network applications. The proposed bridge-type nonsuperconducting fault current limiter was designed and simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results showed the effectiveness of the proposed design in fault current limiting, voltage sag compensation during fault conditions, and its ability not to affect the load voltage and current during normal conditions as well as in suppressing the source powers during fault conditions. Simulation results also showed very minimal power loss by the fault current limiter during normal conditions.
This paper provides a new approach to reducing high-order harmonics in 400 Hz inverter using a three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) converter. A voltage control loop using the harmonic compensation combined with NPC clamping diode control technology. The capacitor voltage imbalance also causes harmonics in the output voltage. For 400 Hz inverter, maintain a balanced voltage between the two input (direct current) (DC) capacitors is difficult because the pulse width modulation (PWM) modulation frequency ratio is low compared to the frequency of the output voltage. A method of determining the current flowing into the capacitor to control the voltage on the two balanced capacitors to ensure fast response reversal is also given in this paper. The combination of a high-harmonic resonator controller and a neutral-point voltage controller working together on the 400 Hz NPC inverter structure is given in this paper.
Direct current (DC) electronic load is a useful equipment for testing the electrical system. It can emulate various load at a high rating. The electronic load requires a power converter to operate and a linear regulator is a common option. Nonetheless, it is hard to control due to the temperature variation. This paper proposed a DC electronic load using the boost converter. The proposed electronic load operates in the continuous current mode and control using the integral controller. The electronic load using the boost converter is compared with the electronic load using the linear regulator. The results show that the boost converter able to operate as an electronic load with an error lower than 0.5% and response time lower than 13 ms.

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

effectively used in different applications especially optimization problems. ACO algorithm imitate the real
ants colonies behavior in founding the shortest path between food sources and its nests [6].
Recently, many researchers focus on DC drives control, due to good torque-speed characteristics,
simple control arrangement and type’s diversity that used in different applications. Different types of
controllers are applicable with DC and AC drives controllers range from classical PID family to intelligent
controllers [7]. The PID controller is wide applicable in industrial applications due to its simple structure,
ease of use and simple simple tuning methods, but it have main disadvantage which is the introduction of
big-overshoot as well give oscillation in system when there are a load disturbance especially due to the
effects of proportional and derivative kick [8]. This PID controller disadvantages denote a real designing
problem in the dc and ac drives controlsystem.
In this article, the proposed solution focus on designing Outputrate controller also output reset
controller instead of using PID controller’s family. The motivation of use these controllers comes from the
fact that these controllers avoid proportional and derivative kick which leads to reduce the system overshoot
also these controllers are less sensitive to system disturbance which make them better to use with systems
that subjected to load disturbance. ACO is used for tuning the proposed controllers optimally to improve its
performance. ACO technique has simple search method that can cover the search space optimallyalso it has
lower algorithm parameters as wll as it avoids entrapped in local optima.
Large number of reasearchers give great attention on PIDs controller in the dc and ac-drive control
schemes based various optimization strategies. In 2014 Ibrahim et. Al., [9] present tuning method for PID
controller based BF and PSO techniques for controlling dc-motor. In 2015 Diego et. al., [10] discuss the
dc-motor control in robot arm using PID-controller based ACO. In 2016 Suman and Giri [11] proposed dc-
motor speed control system using PID controller-based GA. In 2016 Abdulameer et. al., [12] present dc-
motor control system based PID controller tuned traditionally. In 2018 Shamseldin et. al., [13] present

3. OUTPUT RATE CONTROLLER AND OUTPUT RESET CONTROLLER
Any system is known to have output rate-control when the output generation in some way depends
on the rate at which output changes. Output rate controller can be obtained by feeding back a derivative of
output signal of plant and comparing it with proportional error signal. Its introduction often includes the
creation of a supplementary loop that lead to multiloop system. It is used for improving the system
performance. In servomechanism system, tachogenerator usually provides output rate feedback. This type of
controller provides higher gain without poorly affecting the damping ratio that still satisfy the damping ratio
specifications besides the steady state performance for step inputs [15]. Output reset controllers (or integral

controllers) are used to decrease the steady state error [16]. Output reset controller is achieved by
feedingback an integral of output plant signal and comparing proportional error signal with feeding back
signal. Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the output rate and reset controllers respectively.

4. ANT COLONY
ACO recently proposed by Dorigo et al. It is a novel population-based technique used for
optimization problems solving. It mimics real ants searching behavior for shortest route finding between
food centre and nest [17]. Artificial ant’s colony, cooperates for best solutions finding, which are a
developing ant’s cooperative communication. Due to the similarities with nature ant colonies, ACO
algorithms are robust and adaptive and can be applied to many problems needs optimization. The major
artificial ants features are copy from its natural model. These features are (1) they cooperating individuals
colonies, (2) by depositing pheromone they can communicate indirectly (3) based on local moves sequence
for finding nearest route from begining to end point [18].
Ants initially discover the area randomly that closed their colony. During discovering process, ants
leaving a pheromone path. The pheromone density related to trail length and the discovered food source. An
ant selects an exact route depending on the phermone. [19].

5. SIMULATION AND RESULTS
When using transfer function to model the plant, some approximation should be taking place such as
ignore all initial conditions for plant model. This approximation will give an acceptable result for plant
response in control studies. While when using mathematical model for modelling the complete control
system, all initial conditions are considered when modelling the system. So, the obtained results are more
accurate and the mathematical model are close to actual plant behavior. So, in this article a focus is made on
a mathematical modelling of the system due to advantages of this approach. The complete model of the UM
is designed based motor electric and dynamic equations (see section 2) using MATLAB/SIMULINK toolbox.
Output rate and output reset controllers are designed also for constructing the motor closed loop control
system. ACO strategy is build using matlab m-file and linked with Simulink model of motor control system.
Integral time absolute error is used as performance indices. Universal motor used parameters mentioned

The Fitness function plot for tuning the output rate controller and output reset controllers are
illustrated in Figure 3 and Figure 4 respectively. From the two fitness plots, it is clearly that after the second
or third iteration, the fitness function plot is decreased sharply. It is obvious that the cost function plot is
decrease after the second or third iteration and approximately steady. This prove the fast convergence ability
of the ACO algorithm which leads to obtain the optimal solutions without resorted to increase the number of
iterations which leads to lower consecution time of tuning process. While other optimization strategies
normally need high number of iterations for converge. From all these proves, ACO have superior features
than other optimization strategies.

UM is tested by applying different loads to show the robustness of the controllers that tuned based
ACO technique under different loading conditions. Figure 5 and Figure 6 shows a comparison in speed
responses under different loads using output rate and output reset controllers respectively.
Figure 5. UM speed using output rate controller Figure 6. UM speed using output reset controller
From results it is clearly that, for both tuned controllers there are a clear improvement in system
transient and steady state performance for all loading conditions. Both tuned controllers give zero percent
over shoot and under shoot, slight rise time and settling time and fast response produce for all load
disturbances. Figure 7 illustrate speed response comparison of UM with both controllers under
different loads.

Figure 7. Comparison of UM speed responses under different loads using the two controllers
From Figure 7, it is obviously that the UM speed responses with the two controllers are
approximately similar with very small error for all load disturbances. The two proposed controllers are
appropriate for controlling systems subjected to load disturbances.
6. CONCLUSIONS
This paper focus on mathematical model designing because its more reality to actual plant without
resorted to ignore any initial condition. For appropriate UM speed control, an output rate controller and
output reset controllers are used due to its impact on improving the transient and steady state performance of
the system. These controllers have some advantages over other controllers such simple construction, lower
complexity, improve the system transient and steady state performance and required simpler tuning. ACO
technique is used for optimal controllers tuning to get best system performance. Among many natural
inspired optimization techniques, ACO have many advantages such as, low algorithm parameters required,
minimum iterations required, fast convergence and low execution time. All these advantages make this
technique more appropriate for solving different optimization problems. The results show an obvious
improvement in system performance by reducing rise time, settling time and eliminate peak overshoot for
different applied loads between no-load and full-load. The system is tested with loads changes gradually at
different times as well as at changing the reference speed from below rated speed till over rated speed. The
UM with controllers based ACO technique shows an optimal performance improvement for different loading
tests. The two tuning controllers give optimal results for controlling the motor speed under various
loading applications.
