BEED – Gen. III Special Topic 3
Seminar Reflection
During the seminar, the three speakers aim to
promote a harmonious, conducive, and engaging school environment through
Peace Education. According to them, the common problems involved by students
are bullying, unstructured competition, negative peace, etc. which affect their
performance in school. Low-achievement students are usually being bullied
because of many factor in one of which is poor self-concept. The focus is not only
to determine the factors that affect one’s performance in school but how we –
the teachers, staffs, parents, and administrators provide ways to, at least,
minimize the occurrence of such problems experienced. The first and second
speakers tackled about the nature of the learner and their developmental needs
i.e. physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual aspect as well as their unique
personality. They also identified several cases of problems among students
experienced in school and the possible solution where it could be minimized. The
third and the last speaker focus on the roles of the parent, staffs and
administrator, and especially the teachers in promoting Peace Education through
different curricular activities, strategies, and programs. The seminar ended with a
saying: “True peace cannot be solely achieved by the outside; rather it can be first
obtained in the inside.”
