There s something incredible about driving on an open road and watching the
scenery change while listening to your favorite song or boarding an airplane and
getting that sinking feeling in your stomach while taking off, flying into a new

Education was an important part of society. Since the Cold War and the Soviet
Union s successful launch of Sputnik in October of 1957, improvements of
education was necessary. In the 1960 s, John F. Kennedy developed proposals to
ensure the American education system were competitive with students all around the
world. His proposals were to ensure that every race, and religion would receive a
good education. However, not every child was receiving the same education
opportunities based on money issues surrounding them and the minority they were
classified as, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was to ensure that these issues
would be dissolve. On January 8th of 2002, six months and one war later after
George W. Bush first proposed the No Child Left Behind bill, it was finally passed.
Under the No Child Left Behind, every state was required to develop and implement
strict academic standards in reading and math. These standards obliged by law to
every student regardless of ethnicity, social class, or mental ability to ensure that in
twelve years, one hundred percent of students could demonstrate satisfactory skills
(Hudson 44). The law also required states to create their own test and assessments, to
be administrated to the third through eighth grade annually. The results of these tests
determined how much funding the schoolwould get. If the test scores were low, the
school would not get as much funds as a school with high test score would get.

The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced
staff member, he has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and
hence he has a personal relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke
around with them and therefore be slightly friendly. This works well in this particular

An example of this is the idea prevalent in certain parts of the society that the
colonizers, even though violators of human rights themselves, in many circumstances
had also civilized the country by abolishing brutal practices like the Sati and by
having offered a scathing critique of the oppressive Indian caste system, helped in
removing it. What remains hidden behind this myth is the fact that the colonizers had
not only in their early days of invasion and in their oriental spirit as Doniger points
out, remained oblivious to the brutal act of Sati and intended not to interfere with
Hindu practices but also throughout their rule propagated the ideas of caste
distinctions. These distinctions based themselves not only on the existing Hindu
caste system but also on the fact that certain sections of society were more loyal to
the colonizers than others. The caste based division in the Indian Army (formed
during the British rule) that manifests itself in the name of the various regiments also

Choctaw nations among others in the United States, from their homelands to Indian

from a description of the removal of the ChoctawNation in 1831.[1] Many Native
Americans suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while on route to their
destinations, and many died, including 4,000 of the 15,000 relocated Cherokee.[2]
In 1831, the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek, and Seminole
(sometimes collectively referred to as the Five Civilized Tribes) were living as
autonomous nations in what would be called the American Deep South. The process

gaining momentum, especially among the Cherokee and Choctaw.[3] Andrew
Jackson continued the removal of the Native Americans with the passage of the
