Neocolonialism During the Porfiriato
Necolonialism During the Porfiriato
In the early sixteenth century, Spain conquered Mexico and turned it into one of
their most lucrative colonies. In the search for land, labor and natural resources,
Spain found everything they were looking for in Mexico. During the colonial period,
Mexico was simply another kingdom of the vast Spanish Empire. As Spain largely
benefited, the indigenous civilizations of Mexico were ravaged and left to be entirely
dependent on their foreign counterpart. It wasn t until the independence movement in
the early nineteenth century that Mexico seemed to have some hope of being
released from the hands of imperialism. Unfortunately, following independence,
Mexico suffered from a half a century of economic ... Show more content on

Although he was right, the economic boom came with severe consequences that
left Mexico largely dependent on the United States. Mexico s economy boomed
during the thirty year presidency of Porfirio Diaz, known as the Porfiriato. The
majority of Mexican profits came from the export of natural resources including
mining, petroleum, and agriculture. With the development of the railway system,
these industries flourished. Before the railroads, mule transportation was too
expensive; this made only gold or silver worth the effort. Now the production of
copper, zinc and lead were made more profitable. By 1911, Mexico was the third
greatest petroleum producing nation. However,, these industries were owned by the
United States. In order to finance the cost of construction for the railroads, Diaz
gave land to foreign developers. This led to the commercialization of ranching and
farming. U.S. investors benefited from the export trade of resources such as cotton,
rubber, garbanzos, fine woods and coffee. By doing so, many peasants lost their land.
By the end of the nineteenth century, the growth of railroads was incredible. In 1910,
the railroad system totaled over 24,000 miles, which was twenty four times the
amount they had in 1880. Although it was a dependent economy, the Mexican trade
value grew by 900% during the Porfiriato. The landowners benefitted immensely
from the railroads that increased their property value. Furthermore, workers and city
dwellers were given
Essay on Tim s Coffee Shop
Executive Summary Tim s Coffee Shoppe set up outside looks very appealing for
customers to go inside and have a cup of coffee. When looking at the inside the
atmosphere looks appealing for customers. The business is also open every day from
6am to 2am with a bus stop close to the business so it is easier to get too when not
having a vehicle. Notice that the restaurant is located next to the college. With having
a coffee shop next to a college this will mostly attract more college students and also
with having live entertainment this should get more customers to come in. With the
live entertainment I noticed that there is no time schedule to when the live
entertainment is going to be at the restaurant it just states that the live... Show more

Management Management in Tim s Coffee Shoppe are doing a good job at
making sure that the restaurant is passing their inspections, but some of them have
slacked on making sure that the employees fill out their time cards correctly. There
has been one employee that has received four warnings throughout working at Tim
s Coffee Shoppe, this employees warnings involve being rude to the customers and
to the other employees that also work there. Most of the employees enjoy working
there and with their managers. However there is one employee that felt like she
was not going to get anywhere by working so she is going to put her two weeks in
so she can go work for one of the competitors. One employee suggests that they
need to have better cash registers so they do not have to go through the paper
receipts to make sure everything is accounted for at the ending of a shift. With the
one person that keeps getting the warnings I suggest of letting him go so there is no
more problems between him and the customers or employees. When the one
employee suggested that the new owner to get new cash registers I feel that it might
be a good idea so it is much easier to keep track of what is being sold. Also to keep
better track of the mistakes that might happen during the shifts. Also with having
better cash registers the restaurant could always start accepting

short paragraph that defines VO2max, explains what it measures and describes
some of the most important ways that it can be used in health and sport. VO2max
can be defined as the maximum oxygen uptake. This entails the maximum rate at
which oxygen is readily available in the body to be taken up and used during
aerobic exercise. (Fletcher et al.) It is a very important and commonly used
indicator of a person or athletes level of cardiovascular fitness. A high VO2max
demonstrates a high level of aerobic fitness, where as a low VO2max indicates a
low rate of aerobic fitness. There are two factors that are important in determining
a persons VO2max, which are the hearts ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles
and the muscles ability to extract the oxygen from the blood and use it (Brown,
Miller and Eason). This means that when a person has a high VO2max their body is
able to deliver oxygen through the blood efficiently to the muscles in order to
maintain high levels of aerobic exercise over an extended period of time. VO2max is
a valued measurement of cardiovascular fitness in the Sport industry due to its ability
to indicate cardiovascular fitness, as well as the pulmonary and muscular systems
efficiency throughout the duration of the exercise (Brown, Miller and Eason). There
are multiple tests that can measure VO2max
Research Paper On The Hundred Years War
The Hundred Years War During the beginning of the fourteenth century, there were
many disputes between the English and the French. The war began in 1337 when
King Edward the 3rd claimed that he was the rightful ruler of France. This was the
event that truly began the years of war that would disturb all of the land. Other
events also occurred that contributed to the raging war. A few that were included
were, disputes over certain areas of land, control of the valuable wool trade, and
the support for Scotland by the French. The Hundred Years war occurred during
the Middle Ages. Life for those involved and uninvolved in the war was based on a
Feudal System. This was a system that worked quite like a pyramid. At the top, there
was of course a king. Under him, were the tenants in chief, and them below them
were the knights. At the very bottom of the pyramid were of course the peasants,
who were also referred to as serfs or viliens. During this time, all citizens had more
problems than just the war. Throughout the duration of the Middle Ages, there were
many other things that fell in their laps that they had to deal with. The temperature of
the earth cooled during this time period, thus making crops harder to grow and
maintain. This lead to many famines in the land that, in turn, lead to death and
shortages of people that could work. Not only that, but the Black Death swept
through this area, causing more death to occur. In England alone, the Black Death, or
plague, wiped out
Why Do Big Data And Product Design Are All Important...
Introduction
Big data, defined as a popular term used to describe the exponential growth and
availability of data (What is Big Data? , n. d. ), has attracted considerable interest in
many fields as it promises to offer a level of analytic detail that has not been reached
so far. Whilst it is often promoted as the solution to many marketing problems, it has
some significant disadvantages. Cost, data selection, problems relating to the
interpretation of the data and difficulties deciding how to apply the new knowledge
to existing products and product design are all important problems.
Situation There is a line chart above from Google Trends which illustrates the
searching record (Big Data) from 2005 to 2015.As can be seen, Big Data has ... Show

Probably, Big Data can be the future of marketing. However, there are some
problems in using Big Data because of these characteristics. If the enterprises do not
know how to address problems, the investment will be wasted while enterprises still
search around in the haystack for the needle. Therefore, some problems will be
illustrated followed by the solutions for Big Data.
Problems
Firstly, the main problem is deciding which data should be selected. The data,
explaining customers desires and needs, is important to be collected while most of
the enterprises are confusing about what data they should concentrate on. A recent
Gartner report (2014) stresses that 64% of firms raced to plan or launch a Big Data
project, though they did not have enough professional knowledge yet. To understand
what customers need through Big Data possibly turns into the core of companies
target. The large data volumes and different varieties of data lead to data complexity.
Secondly, the result predicted by Big Data probably may not be true at last.
(MARCUS, DAVIS. 2014).This phenomenon happen frequently in many companies.
Take Google Flu Trends as an example, they predicted that the Disease Control and
Protection Center was not able to control the spread of flu quickly and effectively as
time went on. Later, this conclusion was proved wrong. Hence, it means that future
prediction contains inconsistencies compared with reality.

In order to explain the effect that winnings percentage has on attendance, I have
created an adjusted economic model that I have specified above. In order to test my
economic model, I have compiled data for each of the variables specified in the
model from the years 2003 to 2005.
The question that I will be answering in my regression analysis is whether or not
wins have an affect on attendance in Major League Baseball (MLB). I want to know
whether or not wins and other variables associated with attendance have a positive
impact on a team s record. The y variable in my analysis is going to be attendance for
each baseball team. I collected the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Payroll is another variable that I will be taking into consideration while doing my
regression analysis. I feel that payroll can have an effect on attendance if a team
spends more money on popular players. These players will be able to attract more
fans to the games. Therefore, the more a team spends on its players the more fans
they will be able to attract. I will be obtaining this data from
www.baseballreference.com. The average payroll from 2003 2005 for a team was
$70,974,000. The standard deviation of this variable is $31,463,000. The minimum
payroll was $19,630,000 and the maximum was $208,310,000.
I will be using a dummy variable in my analysis that I feel can have an impact on
attendance. This variable is whether or not the team shares its state with another
baseball team. There will be an obvious negative effect on attendance if there is
more than one MLB team in a given state. A zero is going to represent a team that is
the only team in their state and a 1 will represent a team who shares its state with one
or more teams. The data for this dummy variable will come from

Finally, the last variable that I will be using to relate winning percentage to
attendance is the average earnings of the population. I will be obtaining data based on
Wrongful Termination Case Study
San Francisco has another wrongful termination suit in the news. A worker from
Madera named Jason Pimentel claims that he was the victim of wrongful termination.
Pimentel filed his complaint on June 13th against Velex, Inc., Nexius Solutions, Inc.
Included in the complaint are a number of alleged violations. The complaint was

Organizational Change Is Significant To An Organization
Organizational change is significant to an organization as it can change the success of
an organization, remove specific job practices or functions, alter policies and
procedures, and change the way an organization operates (managementhelp.org).
Organizational change efforts should improve the performance of an organization as
well as the people in the organization (Campbell, 2014).
To begin an organizational change, a change agent should understand the culture of
organization, which reflects in its norms and practices. This can include
understanding the systems and structures in the organization, including their terms
and roles. This also applies to understanding the leadership and management of the
organization (Campbell, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The steps to unfreezing includes: determining what needs to be changed, ensuring
strong management is in place, determining why change needs to occur, and
understanding and empathizing with the concerns and doubts of employees
(mindtools.com) The change stage follows next as it is where members of the
organization begin to resolve their uncertainties and believe in the change and new
direction.
This step takes some time as members want to know how the change benefits them. It
is important that organizations understand that time and communication are both
important to the change process (mindtools.com). As communication is encouraged,
it opens the door for employee involvement. The final stage of refreeze takes place
once the changes are established and the members of the organization are aligned and
have accepted the new ways of working.
The refreeze stage involves identifying what supports the change and what affects
those changes, developing ways to uphold those changes, and providing adequate
training to adequately sustain those changes (mindtools.com). There are different
types of internal and external organizational changes. These changes include
structural, strategic, process oriented and people centered (cliffnotes.com). People
centered changes focus on the attitudes, behaviors, skills, and performance of
employees
in an organization (cliffnotes.com). It also can enhance the communication between

Free Will in Short Stories of Sarah Jewett and Kate Chopin
Free will is an important feature of modern person s life. It is a philosophical term
of art for a particular sort of capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action
from among various alternatives ( Free Will ). In other words, free will allows
person to make a choice regardless of specific surrounding circumstances. Different
systems of philosophy have controversial attitude to this term. Depending on
affiliation with certain school, experts admit or reject the thought of existence of a
free will. But, regardless of philosophical judgments, people often admit an
importance of the possibility to make independent decisions and administer own
life. Free will gives person an opportunity to decide in favor of long term, more
global purposes; and this choice can expose immediate perspectives to a risk. This
particular situation was described by Sarah Orne Jewett in her short story A White
Heron. A possibility of free will sometimes became a vital feature; Kate Chopin
showed a literal reflection of this statement in her story The Story of an Hour. The
author demonstrated what catastrophic consequences can cause an unexpected loss
of desired free will.
A White Heron speaks about little girl Sylvia who lives with her grandmother in a
lonely house deep in the woods. The old woman took her granddaughter from the
city, where the child lived with her siblings in mother s house. It looked like Sylvia

Vouchers Should Not Be Allowed In Schools Essay
Introduction (Hook and Thesis) Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Speak the truth,
and all things alive or brute are vouchers. School Vouchers are a public funding set
aside for private schooling toward children s education. It gives parents the
opportunity to select public or private schools of their choice using government
dollars. Increasing the performance of all schools, schoolvouchers would provide
equal opportunities in education. School vouchers are beneficial to low income
households who cannot afford education for their children. There is not a link

Struggling With Debt
Are you struggling with debt ? If so, there might be a good reason for that. Debt is
a consequence of our actions when it comes to spending money. In most cases,
people that are debt free share certain characteristics. If you truly want to be debt
free, you will need to apply these characteristics to your own life.
Four attributes of debt free people
1.They are patient. Becoming debt free and stain debt free you have to develop
patients. Individuals that are patient never buy on impulse. They have no problem
with waiting and saving for a big ticket item that they want. By practicing patience, it
eliminates the risk of spending money that is allocated to paying your bills such as
your car payment, mortgage and utilities. It also prohibits
The Prevalence Of Salmonella Gastroenteritis

BIO 405

Prior to 1990, there was an underestimation of the prevalence of Salmonella
gastroenteritis in the Caribbean. This was due to several potential reasons; first,
there was a lack of resources necessary to conduct a thorough investigation. In
addition to this, only a small fraction of patients follow the steps necessary to
become a laboratory confirmed case. Lastly, in 1990, there were outbreaks among
tourists staying in the Caribbean, with one case resulting in death. This led to
more widespread concern of Salmonella, as media coverage greatly increased after
this incident. Many different organizations, such as CAREC, began to attempt to
find the source of the pathogen after this event in 1990. Ebola is underestimated
for some of the same reasons that Salmonella used to be; not everyone with Ebola
reports it or goes to the hospital. However, Ebola differs from representation of
Salmonella before 1990 in that there is a large amount of resources being allotted
toward prevention and treatment. In contrast to Salmonella before 1990, Ebola is
also very well known globally and garners considerable media coverage.
There are several steps necessary for a comprehensive case study outline of the
Caribbean outbreak of Salmonella. First, the problem must be detected: it was
recognized in the 1980s as a pathogen of public health concern, causing severe
gastroenteritis. However, it did not begin to receive considerable attention from

Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance
In the 1950s, Leon Festinger had come up with this theory of Cognitive Dissonance
when a cult leader had persuaded his followers to believe that life on earth was
going to end, and that those who were believers would be rescued by aliens. When
this did not occur, they rationalized their beliefs by instead coming to the conclusion
that aliens, rather, had saved the entire world. Cognitive Dissonanceoccurs when we
hold a strong belief about something and then do something else that contradicts that
belief. Look at a person who smokes cigarettes, but knows that the nicotine and all
that goes inside one cigarette are bad. The tension they feel is dissonance, and to ease
that tension they can do one of three things: change their behavior, justify their
behavior by changing their conflicting thoughts, or justify their behavior by adding
on new thoughts. This paper will use research articles that were previously written, to
explain the relationship between dissonance and moral/non moral... Show more

Festinger wanted to test if the presence of a reward would influence the participant
into changing his private opinion closer to the opinion that was desired which
contradicts the participant s original beliefs. His findings saw that a large reward
produced less subsequent opinion change than did a smaller reward. The conclusion
of the study was that the findings were unequivocal, however in the three conditions:
the baseline (control), one dollar (small reward) and twenty dollar (large reward),
cognitive dissonance was lessened in the small condition but when it went beyond the
minimum reward needed to elicit it, the weaker the tendency was to change their
private opinion and perform the covert
Essay on The Business Plot
If someone were to ask you if you could imagine a world where the United States
was a fascist dictatorship, you would most likely, laugh in his or her face. After all,
the United States is the poster child of a capitalistic society and even has that
American dream. What people don t realize is that in 1933 a group of elite
businessmen and some powerful companies tried to plot the staging of a coup with
the help of a Marine Corps Major General by the name of Smedley Butler. This may
have been plotted because of the financial situation the United States was in at the
time, and was eventually brought to the attention of Congress during a hearing
through his testimony. Also, because there is evidence supporting this theory I do

During this [time], [a now] retired Marine Corps General Smedley Darlington
Butler was approached by two members of the American Legion: Bill Doyle, and

explained that they were hoping that Butler s speech would persuade the others
members that they needed to remove the current management something that could
be called conditioning or a sort of test. Even though Butler listened to what they
had to say, he had refused on the grounds that he did not want to interfere. Coming
up with a new plan the two men approached Butler again, this time discreetly
offering him $100,000 in bank deposits. After Butler arrived, in the spectator gallery
the Legionnaires were to leap to their feet demanding he speak. MacGuire then
produced the prepared speech he wanted Butler to give. The speech given was
suspicious sounding in nature, it was to convince the veterans, who were due a
second bonus payment, that if they were not paid in money backed by gold, their
bonuses would be compromised. Another attempt to condition and/or test on Butler to
see if he could do their bidding. These men underestimated or pretty much ignored
Butler s support for Roosevelt and his patriotism, which, for a fact, wasn t a secret.

The Arduous Journey Of Discovering Antonio s Destiny
I decided that The Arduous Journey to Discovering Antonio s Destiny is a decent,
exceptional title for my paper, because it gives a brief description on what my paper
will be about, Antonio s expedition on finding his destiny.
1 ВЅ ) When reading over the assignment rubric, I noticed a few errors. One being
in question number 1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different?
. Instead of saying are you would say is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it
s talking about each individual, it would make it singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just
saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god according to Samuel. Witnessing it strongly
impacted Antonio, since actually seeing it was as splendid and impressive as the
Catholic God. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the thought of the carp
really shows to Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from
church and his mother. After confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was
able to do things his Catholic god couldn t, revealing that he would never be
fulfilled by his Catholic faith. His friends Samuel and Cico are all different from
each other. Antonio is a Catholic, Samuel tells Antonio about the carp, and Cico
believes in many gods, like the golden carp, and shows it Antonio.
3) In the setting of the novel, it seemed as if the boys and girls were separated in a
way, because the girls had to stay confined indoors while the boys had to go outside,

that is available has steadily increased. The amount of caffeine in caffeinated drinks
needs to regulated better and its dangers need to be made more well known. Caffeine
can cause many health problems, especially when it is misused. Namely, it can
cause heart palpitations, twitching. The following paper will hope to cover the

While normally caffeine is usually found in a more diluted form such as coffee, it can
also be made into a much more potent and concentrated form as a powder. In this
case, powdered caffeine is created either as a by product making decaffeinated
coffee or it can also be manufactured synthetically. Powdered caffeine is an order
magnitude much more powerful than your normal cup of coffee. In an roprt that
was given out by the FDA, A single teaspoon of pure caffeine is roughly equivalent
to the amount in 28 cups of coffee. (FDA). Incidentally, they also recommend no
more than 400mg of caffeine a day. As a result, this means that one teaspoon of
powdered caffeine contains over ten times the recommended amount. Furthermore,
caffeine is much easier to overdose on when it is taken, in this form. Stein also
elaborates upon a story where a 24 year old named Wade Sweat, who was
hospitalized after mixing it into his morning drink. Then, within minutes of
consuming his drink, his heart went haywire and then it abruptly stopped. In the end,
he passed away after spending 11 days in the hospital (Stein). Wade s passing was a

Back To The Future By Marty Mcfly
Traveling Through Time
What do you believe in? Do you believe in going back to the future? Just like the
movie, Back to the Future , where Marty McFly goes back in time and sees his
parents in high school. He travels through time using a modified DeLorean car.
Guess what? I saw that car from the movie sitting in my driveway that morning of
my parents anniversary. Like any other curious kid, I did what most kids of my
generation would do. I sat right in the drivers seat. That thing went flying, and I was
a goner from Hawkeye, Iowa. No, I wasn t a goner. I was just a goner from the year

success her restaurant had. I went in and saw the cases full of pastries, homemade
goodies, and my favorite, homemade ice cream. I came out of there weighing five
more pounds than usual. Next, I drove that magical car out to our farm. I slept out
back by the bins in that car. I couldn t think of another place to sleep. I could see
something from in the distance, flashing lights. Going red, white, and blue. A
police officer was coming, coming for me. He got me out back by the bins sleeping. I

Right at that moment, the car took me back all the way to 2016. That was a close

History of Television Essays
History of Television
Television has become a major industry all over the world, especially in the
industrialized nations, and a major medium of communication and source of home
entertainment. Television is used in many industries. A few examples are for
surveillance in places inaccessible to or dangerous for human beings, in science for
tissue microscopy, and in education. Today you can find a television in almost every
home. This is why I decided to research the history of the television.
The first television devices were based on an 1884 invention called the scanning disk,
patented by Paul Nipkow. This device was a large disk with holes on it, which spun

An anode finger was a pencil sized tube with a small aperture at the top. Magnetic
coils sprayed the electrons emitted from the electrical image left to right and line by

recreated the image by scanning it onto a fluorescent surface.
Farnsworth applied for a patent for his image dissector in 1927. The development

the British communications company, British Gaumont, bought a license from
Farnsworth to make systems based on his designs. In 1939, the American company

own and recognized Farnsworth as a competitor. World War II interrupted the
development of the television. When television broadcasts became a regular
occurrence after the war in 1945, Farnsworth was not involved. Instead he decided to

David Sarnoff, Vice President of the Radio Corporation of America, later hired
Vladimir Zworykin to ensure that RCA would control television technology.

How could Mom win when I have the corners?
As I continue to play, the thought strikes me: maybe these corners, what I ve always
thought to be the best positions in the game, might just be misconceptions.
After a lifetime of Othello, after years of aiming solely for the corners, I ve finally
discerned the game s true strategy. It s not about these corners. It s the patience,
foreseeing the next move. The wariness of the entire board, as other strategies might
outshine.
Without realizing, I ve embraced this childhood game strategy and implemented it
into my life and work ethic. While others aim to be superior with a desirable
position, I keep advancing for my own benefit, looking for the other strategy. I ve
discovered the advantages of remaining patient and prepared for my next move, my
next action, assignment, or any challenge thrown at me, despite any adversity.

The Work Function Of Atom Metal Contact Charging

Work function In the case of metal metal contact charging, electron transfer results
from the contact of two uncharged contact points having different work functions
(C. F. Gallo and Lama, 1976). The work function is an intrinsic surface property
defined as that minimum energy required to move the weakest bound electron from
the surface of a solid to the vacuum energy level (or to infinity) (Hoe et al., 2011a;
Ishii et al., 1999). The direction of electron transfer is expected to go from the
material with lower work function to that with a higher work function. The electron
transfer process continues until the Fermi level, which is the level at which the
probability of occupancy of states with electrons in the allowed energy state is, of...

Coulombic forces govern the magnitude of the electrostatic attraction/repulsion
forces (Fel) between particles, as defined by Coulomb s law (in the simplest case of
two point charges) (Seville et al., 1997): F _ el = ( q _ 1 q _ 2 )/( 4ПЂПµ Пµ _0 d ^
2 )(2), where q1 and q2 are the electrical charges on the two particles respectively, Оµ
is the relative permittivity, Оµ0 is the permittivity of free space (given by 8.854 Г—
10 12 C2/Nm2) and d is the distance of separation between the two particles. If a
charged particle encounters an uncharged particle, the first particle will induce an
image charge on the surface of the second particle. The electrostatic force (Fc)
between these particles is then calculated as: F _ c = ( q ^ 2 (1 d /в€
љ( r ^ 2 + d ^ 2 )
) )/( 16ПЂПµ d ^ 2 )(3), where q is the electrical charge on the charged particle, r is
the radius of the interacting particles, and d is the distance between the charged and
uncharged particles. When two solid materials of different in vacuum are separated
by a small distance (d), electrons are transferred from the material with the lower
work function to the material with the higher one. An equilibrium will be established
eventually, in which the two work functions reach the same level. The forces of
attraction (Fw) between these two solid materials

Neither of these options are preferable, so he considers options that are not as drastic.
Furthermore, Aristotle uses virtue ethics, which calls into question the morals of the
actor and the nature of the act itself. The editor wants to use the image as a tool for
telling the story without intent for adding shock or disrupting the public. This is not
a problematic motivation at the core, so the most in between option is running the
picture inside with a short blurb on the front page about it. Inside coverage of the
story means the editor can tell their story to the fullest without forcing the delicate
topic at the reader.
Immanuel Kant s big focus is on treating others as one would treat themselves and
specifically not treating others as a means to an end. Moreover, Kant does not
believe any ends can justify any means. In this case, the end goal is too better inform
the audience of the situation and what can be learned from it, and the means involve
exposing a disturbing or even distasteful image to the public. Kant would not approve
of the use of the offensive image.
In contrast, John Stuart Mill finds that a desirable end is the most valuable point
when weighing decisions. Mill would find value in using the article as a tool for
educating the audience, and would not find the use of the image as an ethical
dilemma for this reason. While some of the readership would be offended, Mill
would see that as a lesser point to preventing similar future

The years 97 and 98 CE marked an important turning point in Roman history, as it
marked the beginning of the Period of the Five Good Emperors which lasted for 83
years. During the years of 97 and 98 CE, many important events occurred. Marcus
Cocceius Nerva, simply called Nerva, was made emperor in 96 CE, and ruled until his
death in the January of 98 CE. Under his rule, many new laws and systems came
into existence. Nerva s first order of business was the correction of all of the previous
emperor s mistakes. Before Nerva was emperor Domitian, a very harsh and
authoritarian ruler who was under the impression that the Senate was trying to
undermine his power. Because of this, emperor Domitian had hundreds of traitors in
the Senate imprisoned. During his reign as emperor in 97 and 98 CE, Nerva

The Nigerian And The American Legal Systems
INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian and the American legal systems share a lot of common ground. Having
been colonized by Britain, both countries share a lot of characteristics with the
English legal system. Both are common law legal systems based on English common
law both at federal and state levels apart from the state of Louisiana in the United
States that is based on the Napoleonic civil code. Both countries are constitution
based federal republics and have bicameral legislatures consisting of the Senate and
House of Representatives in the United States (Congress) and House of Assembly
and House of Representatives in Nigeria (National Assembly). Despite the fact that
Nigeria and America have similar legal systems, there are still some apparent
variations in terms of practice and procedure a key component of effective
dispensation of justice. Essentially, what obstructs quick dispensation of justice and
case management is not the law; rather, it is the practice and procedure.

introvert with high morals and utter goodness throughout her character. Though, she
is the heroine of this novel, Fanny constantly blends into the background due to her
timidness. Form the beginning Fanny is shy and silent in Mansfield Parkby Jane

wants without having to go through many unwanted shenanigans of speaking. By
showing the arrival of the silent Fanny Priceinto Mansfield Park and contrasting her
timid demeanor throughout the novel with the charismatic personalities of Henry and

appropriately to understand the love Fanny has for Edmund, while also helping the
readers learn that charm can turn out to be superficial, while silence can be golden.

throughout Mansfield Park. When the Crawford s arrive in town, Mary s charming
attitude about life draws Edmund closer and closer to her, while Fanny s quiet
devotion to Edmund fades slowly into the background. Austen shows many
differences between Mary and Fanny. In Chapter IV, Miss Crawford desires the
company of Fanny, because of her ongoing boredom without the Bertram sisters
presence in Mansfield Park. In this chapter, Fanny and Mary stroll throughout the

Acupuncture In The United States

will be used along with or in place of conventional medicine. In America, nearly 38
percent of the adult population and 12 percent of child population are using CAM
(NCCIH, 2016). CAM has been used for varieties of diseases or symptoms such as
chronic pains, headaches, insomnia. In addition, there are more than forty types of

The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system
utilizes very high pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a
pump with high quality and delivery lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly
10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then, these fine droplets are quickly
evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. In order to offer an excellent
cooling; fog cooling systems use something called flash evaporation (Giacomelli,

For better performance, cooling fans sometimes are added for the purpose of air
circulation in closed areas, where the expected temperature will differ based on the
climatic conditions, where cooling to 12В°C is possible under the best circumstances
(Yuwana et al., 2011). Evaporative Cooling
Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in
many aspects. But it works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in
2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with (1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny
droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the evaporation rate is
influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is
proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing
the clogging nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003).
The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles
(0.5 in; 1.3 cm) PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure,
stainless steel and it could produce a water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at
(1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500 lb in 2) pressure. The
effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate
inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging,
is determined and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the

that I must be well acquainted with the code to become a professional businessman. I
went through Googles and Coca Cola s codes of conduct. Google s values are to
ensure financial integrity and responsibility, to serve users, and to obey the law.
Google states that its core valuehas always been to spend money wisely because
Google believes all appropriate actions based on Google s asset makes up trust to
shareholders, company and users. Don t be evil. This is a one slogan Googlers
have in their mind when they serve users. It is about providing every user with
unprejudiced information, concentrating on users needs, and offering best service.
Obeying the law, such as competition laws and anti bribery laws, this is what
Google is entirely responsible for. If they violate, there might be considerable loss
to Google. Coca Cola values Quality, Integrity, and Passion. I think the principal
reason Coca Cola became extremely famous is the quality of product Coke itself is
an outstanding invention. Integrity of Coca Cola can be demonstrated by its

History of Ian Fleming Essay
History of Ian Fleming
Ian Fleming not just created the character of James Bond; he personified him by
living an exciting life. With his suave style and long history of lavished background
he was almost born into the part of his later creation.
Ian Fleming was born on May 8th, 1908 to his father, Valentine Fleming, and his
mother, Beatrice Fleming (Lycett 12). He was the grandson of the famous Scottish
banking pioneer, Robert Fleming (Rosenberg 5). Ian also had three brothers named
Peter, Richard, and Michael. He hated his brother Peter during most of his childhood.
This was due to his brother being very successful in academics and got his fathers
attention. Fist fights usually broke out between the two of them (Lycett 15). He ...

Ian enrolled in Sandhurst: Royal Academy. He did much better in his studies since
there were no women around the college. There he took the final military exams
and scored very poorly. He was in danger of not graduating but there was an essay
section of the test that enabled him to take a job as a reporter for the British Navy.
Ian took on the job with great ease. He outsmarted the older, much more
experienced by getting the information to the press much faster than any other
reporter. Official were impressed with his work and promoted him straight to
lieutenant on the Royal Navy. He was stationed on the HMS Repulse. His main job
was to plan operations and attacks. He was not comfortable at all. Ian wrote poetry
about his father s death during his service on the ship. He wouldn t show the poetry
to anyone. During a mission that Ian had planned out himself, a crew member had
committed mutiny and was later found to be a spy for the Germans. Ian fought in
hand to hand combat with him and took him into custody. He even interrogated the
man himself.
Another mission that was unrelated took Ian to Jamaica. He had fallen in love
with the land. He bought a beach house on a comfortable lot near the beach so that
he could live there once his naval term was up. He called the house Goldeneye
because of the wonderful view every room in the house had. Ian lived in Goldeneye
two months a year until his naval term was over and he could live there permanently.
The Story Of A Short Story Essay
The story starts in a home in council bluffs, Iowa with a girl named Rachel and her
little brother named Charrilliey. Charrilliey was a very smart boy he had the
intellect of a ninth grader and Rachel did not even know it until he was in third
grade. Even Though Charrilliey was a very smart kid he had some speech
problems which other kids bullied him because he spoke differently than they did.
One day charrilliey came home crying because the kids at his school would not
stop teasing him. The next day was a Saturday and they did not have to go to
school that day and Rachel sat Charrilliey down to talk to him and what he said
Blew Rachel s mind. Charrilliey came to Rachel and asked her what those words
meant, but he actually knew what they meant and he said some words that Rachel
did not even know what those words even ment that is when she realized that her
little brother was a very smart child. Later that day at lunchtime Charrilliey sat
down beside Rachel. Then Rachel suddenly realized that Charrilliey was a very
smart third grader and that he was as smart or even smarter than she is. She was
really upset that her brother that was in the third grader was smarter than she is and
she was in the eighth grade. She was furious and jealous at the same time she just
wanted to crawl under her bed and die then she remembered that they can not die so
she will just be their hungry the whole time she was under their. So she said that she
will have to deal with it the rest of the

пЃ¶Introduction
The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in
the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing
technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing
benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter,
jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two
dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial
channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse
repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the
input signal.
Basic Concept of how it works
Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent
back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person
speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way
signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR

High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is
reflected by the target and then received by the same radar.

Using specific examples discuss how Madison s observations in Federalist Paper 51
apply to the relationship between the legislative branch and the modern president. In
order to keep the government from becoming too powerful and endangering the
liberty of its people, the framers of the United States Constitution endorsed the
implementation of separation of powers so that the different branches of the
government would keep one another in check. In Federalist Paper 51, Madison
focused on the crucial relationship between the legislative and executive branches
with the use of separation of powers. He stated, In the republican government the
legislative authority, necessarily, predominates. The remedy for this inconvenience
is, to divide... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike a treaty however, executive agreements are binding only during the
administrating that initiates it, unless approved by the new president s consent.
Despite its lack of interference in approving the agreements, the Senate can refuse
to appropriate the funds necessary in implementing them. Franklin Roosevelt used
executive agreements to bypass congressional isolationists in trading American
destroyers for British Caribbean naval bases and in arranging diplomatic and
military affairs with Canada and Latin American nations. As chief legislator, the
president can propose legislation; however, the Congress must review them and is
not required to pass any of the administration s bills. To overcome this obstacle the
president must have the ability to argue and persuade. According to Richard E.
Neustadt, governing rests in the act of persuasion not commands. The president
needs to induce them to believe that what he wants of them is what their own
appraisal of their own responsibilities requires them to do in their interests. On the
other hand, the president must sign all bills accepted by Congress to become a
law. If he does not want to make the bill a law, the president has the power to return
the unsigned bill to the legislator, in what is called a veto. If the president does send
the bill back, Congress can change the bill hoping the president will pass it the next
time; otherwise, the Congress can override the president s veto with a two thirds vote

Telecommunication may already be a reality in some companies but there are many
that are backtracking, bringing all employees back to the traditional office setting.
The business problem that needs to be solved is how to effectively balance

CEO Marissa Mayer made a very controversial decision in February 2013 when it
became public that she was recalling the previous policy of allowing employees to

Essay On Epigenetic Resetting In Plants
Embryonic epigenetic reprogramming by a transcription factor in plants
Abstract: Epigenetic modifications have important roles in flowering which requires
vernalization (cold winder) for many plants. Epigenetic marks that accumulated
during vernalization need to be removed to ensure proper development of the
offspring. However, the knowledge about the key gene required for such resetting and
the underlying mechanism is limited. Here, the author demonstrated that LEAFY
COTYLEDONI (LEC1) could de novo activate FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC)
expression in the pre embryo by establishment of active chromatin, thus reversing the
silenced state at FLC. Besides, the active chromatin state can be transmitted to post
embryonic life. Taken together, these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand the timing of FLC activation in embryogenesis, the author first
examine when FLC is reactivated using an FLC:: GUS reporter line. They found
that FLC expression was activated in pro embryo within 1 day after pollination
and onwards from both non vernalized parental plants and vernalized parental
plants, despite that FLC expression is lower from vernalized plants than that from
none vernalized plants. These results were further confirmed by in situ mRNA
hybridization. Then the author postulated that LEC1, a master embryo
transcription factor and expressed in the pro embryo and throughout
embryogenesis, is a good candidate required for embryonic de novo FLC
activation. To support their hypothesis, the author first introduced loss of function
null lec1 allele in FRI Col and found that this FLC dependent later flowering
phenotype was suppressed. Next, they crossed lec1 with FLC:: GUS line and
found that FLC expression was suppressed in the pro embryo stage and onwards.
These results suggest that LEC1 reactivate FLC expression in early embryogenesis
and onwards in non vernalized plants. To explore whether LEC1 could reactivate
FLC expression after parental vernalization, the FLC expression was traced for two
generations in LEC1/lec1 seedlings by FLC GUS reporter. FLC was fully activated in
LEC1/lec1 before cold and silenced after vernalization, and the

Autism Journey Of The Unknown Essay
Autism the Journey of the Unknown:
For many centuries, countless individuals have had problems with numerous forms
of expression, such as communicating effectively, building relationship, or thinking
critically. These multiple forms of complications left their loved ones with an
unknown reason for their lack of interaction. It wasn t until recent years that a name
was finally given to classify the disorder these individuals possessed autism. Autism
is a mental condition, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming
relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts (qtd.
in Young). The term first came about in the 1940s, when researchers used it to
describe children with emotional or social problems ( History ). Even though the
term first appeared in the 1940s, this disorder did not become prominent until
recent years. The rise in autism has been steady since it was first exposed to
society. Autism prevalence has increased from 1 in 5,000 in 1975 to 1 in 150 in
2002 to 1 in 68 in 2012 (McNamee). In this paper, I am going to examine various
reasoning behind the rise in autism, with my main focal point being, Why has autism
become such a major source of attention and debate in recent years? I plan to
deliberate between different theories that have created attention about the autism
community, as well as establish my personal viewpoint on this topic.
The uncertainty of this disorder, along with the curiosity of all those affected, have

What alternatives should Barney Consider when addressing the problem? Try going
with a company that has the same quality with a lower price and get the same
benefits that Kodak provided.
2.Should Pacific s supply policies allow for any medical staff personnel to control
sourcing decisions? Yes I do believe that medical staff should be involved in sourcing
decisions and the quality of the product. The medical staff are the ones that are using
the film on a daily basis. Communication between Mr. Rubble and the medical staff is
important.
3.What are the advantages and disadvantages of staying with Kodak or changing
suppliers? How would you evaluate these? Staying with Kodak you already know
what you are getting and have a long term relationship already. The only thing is that
you are staying with the highest price company per the case study.
4.What action could Mr. Rubble have taken prior to Mr. Howell s death to obtain
reduced film prices? He could have found out why he stayed with Kodak for so
long and if he had ever researched the other companies to find out quality, prices,
and benefits. You never know Mr. Howell might have had a friend in Kodak and that
is the reason why he stayed with them so long instead of venturing out and finding
new film at a cheaper

What are the advantages and disadvantages of telling stories using moving images?
The overall objective and purpose of telling a story is to engage with the audience
to convey the meaning of a plot and create a human connection on an emotional level
(Batty p292). Stories can be told in a variety of ways, and the method by which a
story/narrative is told determines the way in which we connect and interact with it
emotionally. Each mode of story telling is capable of presenting the same story in
different ways. Humans are capable of both understanding and interpreting the
different content and style associated with different modes of story telling.
For the purpose of this essay I contend that a moving image is one that is viewed

Without the presence of any dialogue a feeling can be created by the way the
camera moves and reveals what is on screen. Whether this be a pan across the
screen, a slow or fast zoom in or out, a certain perspective shot or a point of view.
The way the camera moves, allows the audience to feel a sense of involvement as if
they are part of the action because of the accompanying movement of the eye
following what is happening on screen (Ganz p228).
As Bubb states technology now offers speed and fluidity (p370). In story telling this
relates to the pace at which the information is understood and also the structure in
which the information is presented. When using moving images to tell a story the
control over space and time that the storyteller has is very different to that when
telling a story using the written or spoken word. The film Pulp Fiction by Quentin
Tarantino demonstrates the notion of being able to control and manipulate the
relation between space and time very well. It is a film with a complex narrative that
has a non linear structure, where a combination of interlinked stories are told out of
order, yet the flow of the narrative still runs smoothly and keeps the audience in
suspense. The irregular pattern in the film where it fluctuates and jumps from scene
to scene shows a combination of images that are discontinuous moments, rendered
continuous (Ganz 2010 p 229). We have the knowledge that these moments clearly

Antoine Laurent de Jussieu in Genera Plantaru first published the family
Amaranthaceae in 1789. The first publication of family Chenopodiaceae was in
17989/99 by Г‰tienne Pierre Ventenat in Tableau du Regne Vegetal translation of the
earlier Genera Plantaru [17]. Several works have discussed the closeness of the
families Amaranthaceae and Chenopodiaceae. In previous studies, Amarantheceae
was considered as a sister group of Chenopodiaceae in the order Caryophyllales [18].
In the APG II system, of 2003, the Amaranthaceae family is placed in the order
Caryophyllales. It includes the plants formerly treated as the family Chenopodiaceae
[19]. The monophyly of this new, broadly defined Amaranthaceae is supported
strongly by both morphological and phylogenetic analyses [11].
Despite the interest in the taxonomy and classification of the family Amaranthaceae,
there is still need to study its phylogeny. The present study shows that a considerably
level of similarity exists amongst the taxa (Figure 1 and 2). The genus Amaranthus
(Amarathaceae) and the Chenopodiaceae genus Atriplex alongside C. hybridum
correlated strongly with the first component of the PCA. The species Chenopodium
botrys and Chenopodium polyspermum were most strongly correlated with the
second component and form the most divergence group, forming an entirely
Chenopodiaceae cluster. A third and middle group spreads between these extreme
groups and shares members from both families; albeit a
Women And Jews By Simone De Beauvoir And Jean-Paul
Sartre
From the continental European perspective shared by Simone de Beauvoir and
Jean Paul Sartre, two groups would have stood out as the most historically
marginalized; women and Jews. For much of European history, both Jewish people
and women were denied the rights and privileges afforded to even the least
privileged Christian men. They could not hold their own lands, were barred from
all but a select few professions, and lived with the constant threat of organized
violence ready to be turned against them if they ever stepped out of line. In a sense,
both woman and Jew are used as an other for their outgroups, male and Gentile
respectively, to define themselves apart from. Accordingly de Beauvoir and Sartre
manage to illustrate substantial similarities between the two groups in their
respective analyses that greatly affect their ultimate treatment, even as through their
limited scope and personal biases. Chiefly among these similarities is how both
the idea of woman and Jew are created classes, social constructs made in bad faith.
While there will obviously be female humans and Jewish people, the identities of
woman and Jew exist only because those who were not female and Jewish have
labeled them as such. If the Jew did not exist, writes Sartre in Anti Semite and Jew,
the anti Semite would invent him. (8) However, one key difference exists between
the two: Jewspresent a hidden and existential threat to their foes that women never
will. Even the most strident opponent

  • 2. Neocolonialism During the Porfiriato Necolonialism During the Porfiriato In the early sixteenth century, Spain conquered Mexico and turned it into one of their most lucrative colonies. In the search for land, labor and natural resources, Spain found everything they were looking for in Mexico. During the colonial period, Mexico was simply another kingdom of the vast Spanish Empire. As Spain largely benefited, the indigenous civilizations of Mexico were ravaged and left to be entirely dependent on their foreign counterpart. It wasn t until the independence movement in the early nineteenth century that Mexico seemed to have some hope of being released from the hands of imperialism. Unfortunately, following independence, Mexico suffered from a half a century of economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he was right, the economic boom came with severe consequences that left Mexico largely dependent on the United States. Mexico s economy boomed during the thirty year presidency of Porfirio Diaz, known as the Porfiriato. The majority of Mexican profits came from the export of natural resources including mining, petroleum, and agriculture. With the development of the railway system, these industries flourished. Before the railroads, mule transportation was too expensive; this made only gold or silver worth the effort. Now the production of copper, zinc and lead were made more profitable. By 1911, Mexico was the third greatest petroleum producing nation. However,, these industries were owned by the United States. In order to finance the cost of construction for the railroads, Diaz gave land to foreign developers. This led to the commercialization of ranching and farming. U.S. investors benefited from the export trade of resources such as cotton, rubber, garbanzos, fine woods and coffee. By doing so, many peasants lost their land. By the end of the nineteenth century, the growth of railroads was incredible. In 1910, the railroad system totaled over 24,000 miles, which was twenty four times the amount they had in 1880. Although it was a dependent economy, the Mexican trade value grew by 900% during the Porfiriato. The landowners benefitted immensely from the railroads that increased their property value. Furthermore, workers and city dwellers were given
  • 3. Essay on Tim s Coffee Shop Executive Summary Tim s Coffee Shoppe set up outside looks very appealing for customers to go inside and have a cup of coffee. When looking at the inside the atmosphere looks appealing for customers. The business is also open every day from 6am to 2am with a bus stop close to the business so it is easier to get too when not having a vehicle. Notice that the restaurant is located next to the college. With having a coffee shop next to a college this will mostly attract more college students and also with having live entertainment this should get more customers to come in. With the live entertainment I noticed that there is no time schedule to when the live entertainment is going to be at the restaurant it just states that the live... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Management Management in Tim s Coffee Shoppe are doing a good job at making sure that the restaurant is passing their inspections, but some of them have slacked on making sure that the employees fill out their time cards correctly. There has been one employee that has received four warnings throughout working at Tim s Coffee Shoppe, this employees warnings involve being rude to the customers and to the other employees that also work there. Most of the employees enjoy working there and with their managers. However there is one employee that felt like she was not going to get anywhere by working so she is going to put her two weeks in so she can go work for one of the competitors. One employee suggests that they need to have better cash registers so they do not have to go through the paper receipts to make sure everything is accounted for at the ending of a shift. With the one person that keeps getting the warnings I suggest of letting him go so there is no more problems between him and the customers or employees. When the one employee suggested that the new owner to get new cash registers I feel that it might be a good idea so it is much easier to keep track of what is being sold. Also to keep better track of the mistakes that might happen during the shifts. Also with having better cash registers the restaurant could always start accepting

Principles Of Exercise And Sport Science HSE101 Principles of Exercise Sport Science Practical Assignment Submaximal Exercise Testing¬ Name: Renee DeverallStudent Number: 215067741 1.Write a short paragraph that defines VO2max, explains what it measures and describes some of the most important ways that it can be used in health and sport. VO2max can be defined as the maximum oxygen uptake. This entails the maximum rate at which oxygen is readily available in the body to be taken up and used during aerobic exercise. (Fletcher et al.) It is a very important and commonly used indicator of a person or athletes level of cardiovascular fitness. A high VO2max demonstrates a high level of aerobic fitness, where as a low VO2max indicates a low rate of aerobic fitness. There are two factors that are important in determining a persons VO2max, which are the hearts ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles and the muscles ability to extract the oxygen from the blood and use it (Brown, Miller and Eason). This means that when a person has a high VO2max their body is able to deliver oxygen through the blood efficiently to the muscles in order to maintain high levels of aerobic exercise over an extended period of time. VO2max is a valued measurement of cardiovascular fitness in the Sport industry due to its ability to indicate cardiovascular fitness, as well as the pulmonary and muscular systems efficiency throughout the duration of the exercise (Brown, Miller and Eason). There are multiple tests that can measure VO2max
  • 5. Research Paper On The Hundred Years War The Hundred Years War During the beginning of the fourteenth century, there were many disputes between the English and the French. The war began in 1337 when King Edward the 3rd claimed that he was the rightful ruler of France. This was the event that truly began the years of war that would disturb all of the land. Other events also occurred that contributed to the raging war. A few that were included were, disputes over certain areas of land, control of the valuable wool trade, and the support for Scotland by the French. The Hundred Years war occurred during the Middle Ages. Life for those involved and uninvolved in the war was based on a Feudal System. This was a system that worked quite like a pyramid. At the top, there was of course a king. Under him, were the tenants in chief, and them below them were the knights. At the very bottom of the pyramid were of course the peasants, who were also referred to as serfs or viliens. During this time, all citizens had more problems than just the war. Throughout the duration of the Middle Ages, there were many other things that fell in their laps that they had to deal with. The temperature of the earth cooled during this time period, thus making crops harder to grow and maintain. This lead to many famines in the land that, in turn, lead to death and shortages of people that could work. Not only that, but the Black Death swept through this area, causing more death to occur. In England alone, the Black Death, or plague, wiped out
  • 6. Why Do Big Data And Product Design Are All Important... Introduction Big data, defined as a popular term used to describe the exponential growth and availability of data (What is Big Data? , n. d. ), has attracted considerable interest in many fields as it promises to offer a level of analytic detail that has not been reached so far. Whilst it is often promoted as the solution to many marketing problems, it has some significant disadvantages. Cost, data selection, problems relating to the interpretation of the data and difficulties deciding how to apply the new knowledge to existing products and product design are all important problems. Situation There is a line chart above from Google Trends which illustrates the searching record (Big Data) from 2005 to 2015.As can be seen, Big Data has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Probably, Big Data can be the future of marketing. However, there are some problems in using Big Data because of these characteristics. If the enterprises do not know how to address problems, the investment will be wasted while enterprises still search around in the haystack for the needle. Therefore, some problems will be illustrated followed by the solutions for Big Data. Problems Firstly, the main problem is deciding which data should be selected. The data, explaining customers desires and needs, is important to be collected while most of the enterprises are confusing about what data they should concentrate on. A recent Gartner report (2014) stresses that 64% of firms raced to plan or launch a Big Data project, though they did not have enough professional knowledge yet. To understand what customers need through Big Data possibly turns into the core of companies target. The large data volumes and different varieties of data lead to data complexity. Secondly, the result predicted by Big Data probably may not be true at last. (MARCUS, DAVIS. 2014).This phenomenon happen frequently in many companies. Take Google Flu Trends as an example, they predicted that the Disease Control and Protection Center was not able to control the spread of flu quickly and effectively as time went on. It is a philosophical term of art for a particular sort of capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action from among various alternatives ( Free Will ). In other words, free will allows person to make a choice regardless of specific surrounding circumstances. Different systems of philosophy have controversial attitude to this term. Depending on affiliation with certain school, experts admit or reject the thought of existence of a free will. The Prevalence Of Salmonella Gastroenteritis Jenna LaBelle Take Home Essay 2 BIO 405 11/12/14 Prior to 1990, there was an underestimation of the prevalence of Salmonella gastroenteritis in the Caribbean. This was due to several potential reasons; first, there was a lack of resources necessary to conduct a thorough investigation. In addition to this, only a small fraction of patients follow the steps necessary to become a laboratory confirmed case. Lastly, in 1990, there were outbreaks among tourists staying in the Caribbean, with one case resulting in death. This led to more widespread concern of Salmonella, as media coverage greatly increased after this incident. Many different organizations, such as CAREC, began to attempt to find the source of the pathogen after this event in 1990. Ebola is underestimated for some of the same reasons that Salmonella used to be; not everyone with Ebola reports it or goes to the hospital. However, Ebola differs from representation of Salmonella before 1990 in that there is a large amount of resources being allotted toward prevention and treatment. In contrast to Salmonella before 1990, Ebola is also very well known globally and garners considerable media coverage. There are several steps necessary for a comprehensive case study outline of the Caribbean outbreak of Salmonella. First, the problem must be detected: it was recognized in the 1980s as a pathogen of public health concern, causing severe gastroenteritis. However, it did not begin to receive considerable attention from CAREC

Work function In the case of metal metal contact charging, electron transfer results from the contact of two uncharged contact points having different work functions (C. F. Gallo and Lama, 1976). The work function is an intrinsic surface property defined as that minimum energy required to move the weakest bound electron from the surface of a solid to the vacuum energy level (or to infinity) (Hoe et al., 2011a; Ishii et al., 1999). The direction of electron transfer is expected to go from the material with lower work function to that with a higher work function. The electron transfer process continues until the Fermi level, which is the level at which the probability of occupancy of states with electrons in the allowed energy state is, of... Coulombic forces govern the magnitude of the electrostatic attraction/repulsion forces (Fel) between particles, as defined by Coulomb s law (in the simplest case of two point charges) (Seville et al., 1997): F _ el = ( q _ 1 q _ 2 )/( 4ПЂПµ Пµ _0 d ^ 2 )(2), where q1 and q2 are the electrical charges on the two particles respectively, Оµ is the relative permittivity, Оµ0 is the permittivity of free space (given by 8.854 Г— 10 12 C2/Nm2) and d is the distance of separation between the two particles. If a charged particle encounters an uncharged particle, the first particle will induce an image charge on the surface of the second particle. The electrostatic force (Fc) between these particles is then calculated as: F _ c = ( q ^ 2 (1 d /в€ љ( r ^ 2 + d ^ 2 ) ) )/( 16ПЂПµ d ^ 2 )(3), where q is the electrical charge on the charged particle, r is the radius of the interacting particles, and d is the distance between the charged and uncharged particles. When two solid materials of different in vacuum are separated by a small distance (d), electrons are transferred from the material with the lower work function to the material with the higher one. An equilibrium will be established eventually, in which the two work functions reach the same level. The forces of attraction (Fw) between these two solid materials

This is not a problematic motivation at the core, so the most in between option is running the picture inside with a short blurb on the front page about it. Inside coverage of the story means the editor can tell their story to the fullest without forcing the delicate topic at the reader. Immanuel Kant s big focus is on treating others as one would treat themselves and specifically not treating others as a means to an end. Moreover, Kant does not believe any ends can justify any means. In this case, the end goal is too better inform the audience of the situation and what can be learned from it, and the means involve exposing a disturbing or even distasteful image to the public. Kant would not approve of the use of the offensive image. In contrast, John Stuart Mill finds that a desirable end is the most valuable point when weighing decisions. Mill would find value in using the article as a tool for educating the audience, and would not find the use of the image as an ethical dilemma for this reason. While some of the readership would be offended, Mill would see that as a lesser point to preventing similar future

The Rule Of Nerva And Rise Of Trajan 97 98 CE: The Rule of Nerva and Rise of Trajan The years 97 and 98 CE marked an important turning point in Roman history, as it marked the beginning of the Period of the Five Good Emperors which lasted for 83 years. During the years of 97 and 98 CE, many important events occurred. Marcus Cocceius Nerva, simply called Nerva, was made emperor in 96 CE, and ruled until his death in the January of 98 CE. Under his rule, many new laws and systems came into existence. Nerva s first order of business was the correction of all of the previous emperor s mistakes. Before Nerva was emperor Domitian, a very harsh and authoritarian ruler who was under the impression that the Senate was trying to undermine his power. Having been colonized by Britain, both countries share a lot of characteristics with the English legal system. Both are common law legal systems based on English common law both at federal and state levels apart from the state of Louisiana in the United States that is based on the Napoleonic civil code. Both countries are constitution based federal republics and have bicameral legislatures consisting of the Senate and House of Representatives in the United States (Congress) and House of Assembly and House of Representatives in Nigeria (National Assembly). Despite the fact that Nigeria and America have similar legal systems, there are still some apparent variations in terms of practice and procedure a key component of effective dispensation of justice. Essentially, what obstructs quick dispensation of justice and case management is not the law; rather, it is the practice and procedure. The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system utilizes very high pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a pump with high quality and delivery lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly 10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then, these fine droplets are quickly evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. Evaporative Cooling Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in many aspects. But it works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in 2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with (1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the evaporation rate is influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing the clogging nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003). The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles (0.5 in; 1.3 cm) PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure, stainless steel and it could produce a water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at (1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500 lb in 2) pressure. The effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging, is determined and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the

Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal. Basic Concept of how it works Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS 1. As chief legislator, the president can propose legislation; however, the Congress must review them and is not required to pass any of the administration s bills. To overcome this obstacle the president must have the ability to argue and persuade. According to Richard E. Neustadt, governing rests in the act of persuasion not commands. On the other hand, the president must sign all bills accepted by Congress to become a law. If the president does send the bill back, Congress can change the bill hoping the president will pass it the next time; otherwise, the Congress can override the president s veto with a two thirds vote in

Essay On Epigenetic Resetting In Plants Embryonic epigenetic reprogramming by a transcription factor in plants Abstract: Epigenetic modifications have important roles in flowering which requires vernalization (cold winder) for many plants. Epigenetic marks that accumulated during vernalization need to be removed to ensure proper development of the offspring. However, the knowledge about the key gene required for such resetting and the underlying mechanism is limited. Here, the author demonstrated that LEAFY COTYLEDONI (LEC1) could de novo activate FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) expression in the pre embryo by establishment of active chromatin, thus reversing the silenced state at FLC. Besides, the active chromatin state can be transmitted to post embryonic life. Taken together, these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand the timing of FLC activation in embryogenesis, the author first examine when FLC is reactivated using an FLC:: GUS reporter line. They found that FLC expression was activated in pro embryo within 1 day after pollination and onwards from both non vernalized parental plants and vernalized parental plants, despite that FLC expression is lower from vernalized plants than that from none vernalized plants. These results were further confirmed by in situ mRNA hybridization. Then the author postulated that LEC1, a master embryo transcription factor and expressed in the pro embryo and throughout embryogenesis, is a good candidate required for embryonic de novo FLC activation. To support their hypothesis, the author first introduced loss of function null lec1 allele in FRI Col and found that this FLC dependent later flowering phenotype was suppressed. Next, they crossed lec1 with FLC:: GUS line and found that FLC expression was suppressed in the pro embryo stage and onwards. These results suggest that LEC1 reactivate FLC expression in early embryogenesis and onwards in non vernalized plants. To explore whether LEC1 could reactivate FLC expression after parental vernalization, the FLC expression was traced for two generations in LEC1/lec1 seedlings by FLC GUS reporter. FLC was fully activated in LEC1/lec1 before cold and silenced after vernalization, and the

  • 50. Autism Journey Of The Unknown Essay Autism the Journey of the Unknown: For many centuries, countless individuals have had problems with numerous forms of expression, such as communicating effectively, building relationship, or thinking critically. These multiple forms of complications left their loved ones with an unknown reason for their lack of interaction. It wasn t until recent years that a name was finally given to classify the disorder these individuals possessed autism. Autism is a mental condition, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts (qtd. in Young). The term first came about in the 1940s, when researchers used it to describe children with emotional or social problems ( History ). Even though the term first appeared in the 1940s, this disorder did not become prominent until recent years. The rise in autism has been steady since it was first exposed to society. Autism prevalence has increased from 1 in 5,000 in 1975 to 1 in 150 in 2002 to 1 in 68 in 2012 (McNamee). In this paper, I am going to examine various reasoning behind the rise in autism, with my main focal point being, Why has autism become such a major source of attention and debate in recent years? I plan to deliberate between different theories that have created attention about the autism community, as well as establish my personal viewpoint on this topic. The uncertainty of this disorder, along with the curiosity of all those affected, have

Yes I do believe that medical staff should be involved in sourcing decisions and the quality of the product. The medical staff are the ones that are using the film on a daily basis. Communication between Mr. Rubble and the medical staff is important. 3.What are the advantages and disadvantages of staying with Kodak or changing suppliers? How would you evaluate these? Staying with Kodak you already know what you are getting and have a long term relationship already. The only thing is that you are staying with the highest price company per the case study. 4.What action could Mr. Rubble have taken prior to Mr. Howell s death to obtain reduced film prices? He could have found out why he stayed with Kodak for so long and if he had ever researched the other companies to find out quality, prices, and benefits. You never know Mr. Howell might have had a friend in Kodak and that is the reason why he stayed with them so long instead of venturing out and finding new film at a cheaper

The overall objective and purpose of telling a story is to engage with the audience to convey the meaning of a plot and create a human connection on an emotional level (Batty p292). Stories can be told in a variety of ways, and the method by which a story/narrative is told determines the way in which we connect and interact with it emotionally. Each mode of story telling is capable of presenting the same story in different ways. Humans are capable of both understanding and interpreting the different content and style associated with different modes of story telling. For the purpose of this essay I contend that a moving image is one that is viewed upon a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the presence of any dialogue a feeling can be created by the way the camera moves and reveals what is on screen. Whether this be a pan across the screen, a slow or fast zoom in or out, a certain perspective shot or a point of view. The way the camera moves, allows the audience to feel a sense of involvement as if they are part of the action because of the accompanying movement of the eye following what is happening on screen (Ganz p228). As Bubb states technology now offers speed and fluidity (p370). In story telling this relates to the pace at which the information is understood and also the structure in which the information is presented. When using moving images to tell a story the control over space and time that the storyteller has is very different to that when telling a story using the written or spoken word. The film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino demonstrates the notion of being able to control and manipulate the relation between space and time very well. It is a film with a complex narrative that has a non linear structure, where a combination of interlinked stories are told out of order, yet the flow of the narrative still runs smoothly and keeps the audience in suspense. The irregular pattern in the film where it fluctuates and jumps from scene to scene shows a combination of images that are discontinuous moments, rendered continuous (Ganz 2010 p 229). We have the knowledge that these moments clearly can not
  • 53. Seed Ergastic Substances Profiling and its Implications... Discussion Systematics Antoine Laurent de Jussieu in Genera Plantaru first published the family Amaranthaceae in 1789. The first publication of family Chenopodiaceae was in 17989/99 by Г‰tienne Pierre Ventenat in Tableau du Regne Vegetal translation of the earlier Genera Plantaru [17]. Several works have discussed the closeness of the families Amaranthaceae and Chenopodiaceae. In previous studies, Amarantheceae was considered as a sister group of Chenopodiaceae in the order Caryophyllales [18]. In the APG II system, of 2003, the Amaranthaceae family is placed in the order Caryophyllales. It includes the plants formerly treated as the family Chenopodiaceae [19]. The monophyly of this new, broadly defined Amaranthaceae is supported strongly by both morphological and phylogenetic analyses [11]. Despite the interest in the taxonomy and classification of the family Amaranthaceae, there is still need to study its phylogeny. The present study shows that a considerably level of similarity exists amongst the taxa (Figure 1 and 2). The genus Amaranthus (Amarathaceae) and the Chenopodiaceae genus Atriplex alongside C. hybridum correlated strongly with the first component of the PCA. The species Chenopodium botrys and Chenopodium polyspermum were most strongly correlated with the second component and form the most divergence group, forming an entirely Chenopodiaceae cluster. A third and middle group spreads between these extreme groups and shares members from both families; albeit a
  • 54. Women And Jews By Simone De Beauvoir And Jean-Paul Sartre From the continental European perspective shared by Simone de Beauvoir and Jean Paul Sartre, two groups would have stood out as the most historically marginalized; women and Jews. For much of European history, both Jewish people and women were denied the rights and privileges afforded to even the least privileged Christian men. They could not hold their own lands, were barred from all but a select few professions, and lived with the constant threat of organized violence ready to be turned against them if they ever stepped out of line. In a sense, both woman and Jew are used as an other for their outgroups, male and Gentile respectively, to define themselves apart from. Accordingly de Beauvoir and Sartre manage to illustrate substantial similarities between the two groups in their respective analyses that greatly affect their ultimate treatment, even as through their limited scope and personal biases. Chiefly among these similarities is how both the idea of woman and Jew are created classes, social constructs made in bad faith. While there will obviously be female humans and Jewish people, the identities of woman and Jew exist only because those who were not female and Jewish have labeled them as such. If the Jew did not exist, writes Sartre in Anti Semite and Jew, the anti Semite would invent him. (8) However, one key difference exists between the two: Jewspresent a hidden and existential threat to their foes that women never will. Even the most strident opponent
