Using Jade s Reaction To Social Norm
A schizophrenic and a survivor, Jade s family was brutally murdered in front of her as a child before
she was raped by the same mobsters who her father had owed money to. She was left wandering alone
in a grimy Taipei before being found by Henry. A computer hacker, she uses her skills to do
investigative work for Henry and his various dealings.
Due to her traumatic past, Jade has an inability to conform to social norms. Being highly introverted,
having a difficulty connecting to people, Henry keeps her hidden in a warehouse where she spends her
time mostly on computers surveilling the people Henry wants to keep tabs on. Her existence is
unknown to most of the mob.
Despite her disdain for the mob and men in general, she is fiercely loyal to Henry and has been more
of a child to him than either Jay or Wen. She is aware of all of Henry s dealings and enemies,
including his plan to overthrow the current mob regiment. Jade can be a sociopath who creates her
own moral universe. After learning of an incident where a client of Henry s was found to be lying to
him, she brutally cuts out a men s tongue before letting him choke on it to death. She believes in
punishing those unworthy in her eyes, especially men who abuse women. ... Show more content on

While suspicious of Henry s intentions, Jade does so willingly and is hit hard when she learns of his

Electronic Health Record
Abstract Electronic health records (EHR) is more and more being utilized in organizations offering
healthcare to enhance the quality and safety of care. Understanding the advantages and disadvantaging
of EHR is essential in the nursing profession as nurses would learn its strengths and weaknesses. This
would help the nursing profession know how to deal with the weak areas of the system. The topic on
advantages and disadvantages of EHR has been widely researched on with different researchers
coming up with different opinions. Nurses ought to have knowledge on the advantages and
disadvantages of EHR systems for them to use systems efficiently. This would transform the
operations of health systems and benefit patients with quality service. ... Show more content on

This meant that there was 41 percent reduction in the risk of pulmonary embolism or deep vein
thrombosis ninety days following discharge. In addition, researchers have established that there is a
relation between efficiency and EHRs in the delivery of healthcare. EHRs societal benefits Improved
ability to conduct research is another less tangible benefit associated with EHR. When the data for
patients is electronically stored, makes the data easily accessible hence more quantitative analysis can
be undertaken for identification of evidence based best practices with ease. In addition, public health
researchers use electronic clinical data more actively which have been amassed from a huge
population hence coming up with research that benefits the society (Mitka, 2011). Clinical data
availability is limited but this form of data will increase. Probable EHRs disadvantages Irrespective of
the findings regarding the advantages of various functionalities of EHRs, some probable drawbacks on
EHR have been identified by researchers. These comprise of financial concerns, temporal loss in
productivity linked with adoption of EHR, change in workflow, security and confidentiality concerns
and several unintentional consequences. Financial concerns comprise of costs of adoption and
implementation, cost of maintenance, revenue loss due to temporal low productivity, and revenue
declination. These factors act as deterrent for physicians

The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars
Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually
undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was
discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that
there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes.
Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty
niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes,
those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new
way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be
new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery
and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . No census was ever
taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated
that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it.
The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn t.
What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. So after a couple of
weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms, businesses to sell much needed

Operation and Performance of Reciprocating Engine
Operation and Performance of Reciprocating Engine As an accident investigator, understanding the
operation and performance of the reciprocating engine is essential. Reciprocating engine can be
branched into two groups, the 2 stroke and 4 stroke operating cycles. The 2 stroke reciprocating
engine completes a power cycle in only one crankshaft revolution and two strokes, compression and
power stroke. This is achieved when power and compression stroke happens simultaneously while the
piston is near the bottom of its travel. The 4 stroke reciprocating engine operates on the 4 stroke 5
event cycle, which are the intake, compression, power, exhaust stroke and ignition event. During the
intake stroke, the piston descends from top dead center (TDC) with the exhaust valve closed and the
intake valve open to the bottom dead center (BDC) of the cylinder. As the piston descends, a mixture
of air and fuel from the carburetor is drawn into the cylinder. After the intake valve closed, the piston
moves back toward TDC of the cylinder compressing the fuel air mixture. Just before the piston is
close to TDC, ignition takes place by a spark plug in gasoline engines which produces an electric
spark in the fuel air mixture. The piston move back down toward BDC resulted by the pressure from
the combustion of the compressed fuel air mixture. This causes the crankshaft to rotate, thus turning
the propeller. During the exhaust stroke, it expels the used fuel air mixture through the exhaust valve

Major Sociology Of Health And Aging
Journal 1
One of the main reasons I chose to major in sociology of health and aging is because I was always
really interested in the definition of health. How is health defined within and between cultures? Is
there a universal definition of health and if so who gets to create said definition. As I become more
and more involved in this idea of health I found it to be socially constructed depending on the culture
on belongs too. There is no one definition for even within a specific culture an individual s health is
changing over time, health is dynamic and at different stages of you life span an individual s definition
and perception of health changes with them. However before we dive into specific avenues on how
health is influenced I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However given this information there are still a variety of other factors i.e. social factors that can have
a massive influence on an individuals health and these things are not the easy to change and
manipulate. Social determinates of health is loosely defined as the conditions in which people are
born, grow, live etc. individuals tend to have less control over theses factors especially at a younger
age. Which got me thinking how does one s social economic status influence an individual s health.
Is there a massive gap between individuals of more marginalized group compared to the majority
when socio economic status is involved? How about taking a look at individuals who have
approximately the same financial income and live in different areas of a specific town, or state so
comparing urban areas to suburban areas. Also looking to see if individuals of lesser socioeconomic
have in general poorer health if so then why. I personally believe that there will be a huge disparity
between individuals who have a higher socioeconomic status compared to those who make a lot less.
As you continue to look at the opposite ends of the spectrum I think that gap will only become more
and more wide. Personally I am an African American student living in London and I have had to
experience the challenge with regards to eating healthy on a student budget and it can at time be more
than challenging.
Currently I am overweight and because of the information

Easyjet s Business Model Aims
EasyJet s business model aims at using their cost advantage and leading network positions in strong
markets to convey point to point cheap fares and operational efficiency. It provides friendly services to
customers and delivers market leading returns to shareholders, by sustaining a dominant European
network at primary airports, with the main objective of making travel easy and affordable for
customers. Despite the fact that, low priced airline model has been really favoured in recent years,
there are still key issues identified with EasyJet s business model which are; it s cost base, limitation
of airports and oil prices. Firstly, it s cost base. The low priced industry is highly competitive with
various brands contending for the same customer base, which has led to price battles and other actions
that makes it challenging for EasyJet to keep up due to concern over cost involved in trying to cut
fares further or offering any luxury. Secondly, Easy jet stays away from big airports like London
Heathrow airport to cut down cost of landing. However, this makes customers who live nearby the
airports uncomfortable, since time and money are wasted to travel to easy jet landing airports. Lastly,
due to fluctuations in the Middle East, impact of increased oil prices, cost of production is increased
and this eliminates profit margin therefore customers have to pay more.
Companies identified as comparator companies to easy jet include; Ryanair, British airways and
Flybe. Ryanair is

Unification of Italy Dbq Essay example
Unification of Italy: Pros and Cons
After the Congress of Vienna Italy consisted of six separate states. Controversy over whether or not
Italy should be unified stirred up during the mid to late 1800 s. The unification of the Italian states was
an ongoing debate for quite some time. During the years of the debates people found the unification to
be positive change, a negative change, and some had different opinions for their own certain reasons.
Those who agreed that Italy should be unified argued that Italy would not survive in the separated
states, would be vulnerable to invasions, and would ultimately be weaker overall. Giuseppe Mazzini,

friendship, and tough decisions. In the novel, the theme is loneliness, which is expressed in many
ways, but one is when the novel ends, Carlson doesn t understand why it s so hard on Lennie, which
shows how lonely he was. In the film, the theme is friendship, which is most clearly expressed when
the film ends and George and Lennie walk together side by side. Gary Sinise s film changes scenes

Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Essay
Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews
Before I started reading the book Hardball, by Chris Matthews, I had a preconceived idea of what the
content of this book would be. From the title of the book I drew the conclusion that Matthews would
write more about the darker side of politics and how it is really played. I don t really know much about
politics, and frankly, I don t care much for politics. However, when I hear the word hardball in the
context of politics, I think of blood shed. I think of dirty tricks and blackmail and money changing
hands in dark places. I even think of the mafia to some degree when I hear the word hardball. Perhaps
my notion of hardball was a bit more than what Chris Matthews describes in his book. After ... Show

The content of this book is best described on page 17 where Matthews describes speaking to a
congressman in the Democratic cloakroom about writing the book. Quietly, I confided to one of the
members that I was writing a book about the rules of politics, including all the tricks I had overheard
in the off the record hideaways like this. He look at me, a crease of pain crossing his forehead, and
said with dead seriousness, Why do you want to go and give them away? By describing the concern of
this individual, Matthews conveys to the reader that he s actually going to give detailed accounts of
how politicians operate in Washington. The congressman is concerned about what the public would
think if they had detailed knowledge of how politicians operate, and that s actually the most
compelling reason for reading this book.
Matthews relates a myriad of examples of how some of today s most successful politicians rose to the
top. The successful politicians are those who learned how to play hardball. They learnt that there were
other people besides themselves on the playing field and that when you throw ball in the game of
politics, someone is going to be on the other side to catch it and throw it back, and you must be ready
for it. This is perhaps most evident in the section of the book called Enemies, where Matthews
describes the rule of power: Keep your enemies in front of you, as President Reagan did by appointing
James A. Baker his first White

Pest Analysis Of Walmart
Several years ago, I was the Director of HR Strategy for Walmart US. As a component of one of my
early projects, and being fairly new to the organization, I was asked to conduct a PEST of the
organization based on my team s perspective. As a retail industry leader, Walmart continues to
withstand the potential negative effects of threats in the political, economic, sociocultural, and
technological (PEST) aspects of its business. However, this success requires continued evaluation of
the retail industry environment and constant investment in risk mitigation strategies and processes.
These PEST factors also change over time, and since it has been years for me since being there, I fresh
look is required. These constant changes may present new threats or opportunities that were otherwise
not contemplated before (i.e. the Amazon effect). Walmart must exploit the opportunities and protect
itself from threats. In using the PEST analysis, Walmart leaders and managers can determine which
factors to prioritize in strategy development. Let s look at each of the four factors in our further
analysis.
Political Factors Are there any other political factors that are likely to change? Walmart considers
political factors in the retail and employment markets, usually pertaining to government policies and
employment law. In the PEST analysis model, politically active interest groups are also significant in
how Walmart reacts to this aspect. For the most part, politics that would

Daystar Rita Dove Summary
In today s American culture, the woman of the house is expected to not only stay at home and raise her
children but also to please and tend to her husband as well. Rita Dove poem, Daystar, illustrates just
that. A woman who feels trapped because of her role as a mother and wife. Daystar comes from a book
of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah, which tells both the real and unreal stories of
dove s maternal grandparents (Bartleby). Within the poem, Daystar, imagery, setting, and language
work together to bring forth to the readers the individual need for reflection the speaker is longing for.

But implying the word Palace refers to beauty, this will help the readers to better visualize a gleaming,
soaring structure. So is it safe to say this can be a metaphor for the mother s hope for a more relaxing
and peaceful life? Another major aspect that readers can see fuel the speakers need for relaxation is the
setting of the poem. The entirety of Dove s poem takes places in a family. While the speaker is
surrounded by work that needs a consistent amount of doing, she is undoubtedly in need of her own.
Because the author never mentions what the speaker is like outside of the home, it s hard for one to
imagine what she is like outside of the home. Therefore we can agree she is pretty much a static
character. This fact lends to the idea that motherhood can be a tough job for many, as it gives the
impression that she is stuck in a jail cell. ...so she lugged a chair (Dove 4) can lead the reader to think
the speaker is more of an object than an actual person. Unlike the speaker that is seen as a static
character, the daughter, on the other hand, is given a more lifelike

(Dove 14 15). This conversation is believed to be one of imaginary because it seems to take place
within the speaker s head instead of an actual conversation between her and her daughter. This is one
of the many factors of a trying mother dealing with motherhood. Unlike

The Psychological Effects Of Clothing Has On An Individual
As human beings, we are passively communicating with each other without even knowing it. As a
society we are framed in a visual culture, which makes our appearance control our success rate in life
and in the workforce. A person that is dressed professionally in our society is viewed as a prominent
member of our society. This same person is taken seriously in his or her profession when dress
appropriately. My research project will go into depth discussing the psychological effects clothing has
on an individual from establishing boundaries in the workforce, enhancing cognitive skill, and
influencing personal identity. Business attire in the workforce builds a person confidents, and gives
them a sense of belonging. By dressing the part of business attire, it affects an individual physically
and psychologically; the scientific term behind this is called Enclothed Cognition. Enclothed
Cognition is a scientific term stem from Embodied Cognition. This is scientific evidence that proves
business attire wore by an individual has influential effects on them physically and psychologically.
The clothes people wear can have a dramatic effect on their work productivity in the office. According

With the budgeting tool, the corporate can thus make informed financial decisions.
For AT T, Inc., the capital budget is vital in putting to use the available resources. The act of
prioritizing mainly ensures that critical segments of the company are first to be factored in the
budgeting process and that they are adequately funded at all times (Wyatt, 2013). In that process, it is
easy for the company to identify deficits and adequately plan for loans or stock financing.
Since a budget is a component of sound and responsible financial management, tracking its
formulation and implementation can go a long way to ensuring its objectives are adequately met.
Sound budget management strategies include keeping a proper record of all the expenses v.
allocations. Also, consistently review the implementation to be sure of the anticipated outcome.
Considering the implementation can also help isolate the possibility of adjustments in line with the
budget objectives (Wyatt, 2013).
Effective Budgeting and the Positive Financial Outcome
The fundamental importance of proper budgeting strategies goes beyond corporate investment
decision making. It includes positive financial outcomes in as far as the financial goals are concerned.
One of the positive outcomes is eliminating a fiscal crisis. Financial forecasting particularly helps
analyze the current trends in the business and

The Spiritual Lessons From Joshua
Introduction
Spiritual Lessons From Joshua
Joshua was deeply devoted to God, the God of Israel, and a loyal servant of Moses. He took charge of
Israel after the death of Moses, and he gave instructions to carry the Arc of the Covenant across the
Jordan River, which parted as did the Red Sea. He lead Israel around the city of Jericho and the walls
came tumbling down and he lead Israel s conquest of the promise land.
There has been no day like the day that God heeded Joshua s command for the sun to stand still for
one whole day. In light of all this it is interesting, even somewhat puzzling, that Joshua is not even
named by the apostle Paul as one of the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11.
There are two hundred and one Bible references to Joshua, which leaves us with many valuable
lessons; there are very few more dramatic examples of faith in the entire Bible. So why did the apostle
Paul leave Joshua s name out of the list of the faithful in Hebrews 11?
Could it have been because the long list of Joshua s accomplishments over shadowed the man
himself? Or the things that God did through him were so great that the events actually eclipsed Joshua
deeds?
There are plenty of spiritual lessons to be found in the book of Joshua. I just wish to highlight a few
here are seven of them.
First, good leaders must first be good servants.
Second, impossible situations provide glorious opportunities to trust God.
Third, the key to strength and courage is God s abiding presence.
Fourth,

Comparing My Writings Of My Personal Writings
As I have considered how to approach this essay, I thought it would be best to compare two of my

was very direct. I chose also chose this because it demonstrates the progression from the body of my
essays specifically.
I ve come to find that my writing has progressed from very emotionally filled with lots of fluff, to
very informative with lots of evidence to back up what I ve said. As I m going into Political Science,
feeling does have a part to play, but what you say doesn t mean anything if you can t back it up. So it
really depends on what kind of writing you re doing, whether it be a research paper, biography, or a
newspaper column. Although, I do feel that my writing is taking the turn it needs to for the profession
I m wanting to pursue. It may not be what was wanted in this class or what seems interesting to most,
but it is exactly what I need for my future. So in that way, my writing has progressed. These two
quotes show this difference clearly.

Single Gene Disorder
When a certain gene is known to cause a disease, it is referred as a single gene disorder or a
Mendelian disorder. These disorders involve mutations in the DNA sequences of single genes. As a
result, the protein the gene codes for is either altered or missing (Landsverk, 2013). Few examples of
single gene disorders includes cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, Fragile X syndrome, muscular
dystrophy, or Huntington disease. As a rule, single gene disorders are not very common. For example,
only one in 2,500 people are born with cystic fibrosis. There are a number of inheritance patterns of
single gene disorders that are predictable when you know what they are. There are three main
transmission patterns: autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and X linked or sex linked recessive

LSDs result from incompletely digested macromolecules due to loss of enzyme function (Filocamo,
2013). These enzymes normally break down items for reuse in the cells. If the enzymes are missing or

called lysosomes. To date, 51 genetically determined lysosomal storage diseases have been described.
Since there can be different mutations of the same gene, they result in different clinical manifestations
and are classified as infantile and adult types. The acquired disorders are the result of inhibition of α

Religion In Bollywood Movies
Significance of religion and Culture in Bollywood Movies
India is considered as the inception of the mythological genre of film. The first feature film of India,
Raja HarishChandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke was the commencement of the explorations of the
mythological genre of films (Dimitrova, 2016). Bollywood movies have been considered as the richest
source of exploring religious and cultural values, (Dunmill. M 2007). Bollywood has produced several
movies and TV shows predicated on gods. Religion composed a very sensitive issue in the Indian
society. Hindu religion is the most commonly practiced religion in India, according to the 2011 census
(Shrivastava, 2015). Movies that are against the religious credences of the audience are considered
blasphemy or attack on the religious sentiments of the community (Qadri Mufti, 2017). Om Jai
Jagadish (2002), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) are some of the
movies that represented a typical Indian, Hindu family by utilizing traditional costumes and festival
celebrations. Dimitrova (2016) discussed the movie Lagaan (2001) and the portrayal of the religion,

Tornado Outbreak Essay
On April 27, 2011, President Obama signs Alabama emergency declaration (Press). Tornadoes rolled
through much of the Southeastern United States from April 25 to 28 in one giant storm called a
tornado outbreak. While many states issued states of emergency, Alabama was hit the hardest.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, April 27, 2011 holds the record
for the most tornadoes of any day, 200. Combined with an estimated single day death toll of 316, April
2011 s tornado outbreak has changed how scientists study tornadoes.
Before looking specifically at April 2011 s tornado outbreak, it is important to understand what a
tornado outbreak is; however, there is no established definition for a tornado outbreak (Galway). ...

Hayes speaks on behalf of the National Weather Service when he says that they found Several EMs
and media representatives stated the growing number of weather awareness weeks (e.g., flood,
lightning, fire, etc.) were diluting the messages and causing the events to lose their effectiveness. The
way that we now look at awareness events are to do fewer more impactful events. Another thing that
Hayes found was that some cities did not have any systems in place to handle the tornado outbreak,
and now there is an education program set in place that is free of charge to the participants. Much of
the other things that the National Weather Service said that could be improved were infrastructure, the
foundations of our society. There were unreliable systems of communication between cities, and there
were no backups in place incase one link broke. One other thing that the cities could have used to
further spread the knowledge was social media, but some cities did not use any of it to contact
citizens. The largest contributing factor to people not getting to shelter or leaving was their
misunderstanding of tornadoes and forecast systems. The best way to educate these people is to offer
classes to teach them about the basic weather systems that they live

Dramatic Ironry In O. Henry s Lamb To The Slaughter
Short stories are an exeptional use of literary elements to an audience of all ages. Lamb to the
Slaugher, by O. Henry, expresses many literary elements such as imagery and dramatic irony. Gift of
the Magi is also an amazing use with foreshadowing and diction. Lamb to the Slaughter uses the
elements better than Gift of the Magi in many different ways, starting with it s precise characters.
Lamb to the slaughter expresses many literary elements, creating a story about Mary Maloney s
experience with her husband. Dramatic irony is a very critical part of the story, especially while
evaluating the situation. Personally, I think it s right here on the premises. Probably right under our
very noses. What you think Jack? (Roald Dahl 9). She killed her husband with a frozen lamb leg after
discussing troubling news that was never revealed. Mary called the police, who were also her husband
s coworkers. The police never figured out what the weapon was or who killed him. Mary asked them
of a favor to eat the lamb leg cooking in the oven, and the weapon was right under their noses when
they were eating. Additionally, the imagery really helps the most crucial part of the story come alive.
Mary walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the
air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head(Roald Dahl 4). The text could
have just said she hit him with a lamb leg, but instead it elaborates and explains how it happened.

Nt1330 Unit 4 Assignment
This was by far the most challenging course that I have encountered while obtaining my Master s
Degree in Educational Technology from UCMO. That is not a negative comment as this course has
actually impacted me professionally more than any other course I ve taken to date. This course has
taken more time to complete the assignments, more of my attention to detail, and more of my
creativity. The last point was the best part about this course. I consider myself to be fairly creative and
this course definitely allowed me to do that while bringing my somewhat odd personality to a

The Northanger Abbey And The Vicar Of Wakefield
One question that comes up in older novels such as Northanger Abbey and The Vicar of Wakefield is
that of the economy of love or more specifically marriage. Today, people take for granted that people
get married for love and little else. The idea of marriage as an economic decision is a foreign and
fascinating idea in today s society, but it was very prominent in Goldsmith s and Austen s times and
that is reflected in their novels.
Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The
Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout
the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of
marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and
discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever
terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). He likewise rejects the benevolent Mr. Burchell as a suitor for his
youngest daughter because ...he is poor, and perhaps deserves poverty; for he has neither the ambition
to be independent, nor the skill to be useful (Goldsmith 17). Later, however, he looks more closely at
the characters of his daughters respective suitors and seems to set aside, if not abandon altogether, the
issue of marrying within one s own class. He very obviously disapproves of Mr. Thornhill asserting
that he ...could have been better pleased

Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures Essay
TECH0701: Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures
Introduction
This exercise dealt with the melting points of pure mandelic acid and benzoic acid. The eutectic
temperature and composition of mandelic and benzoic acid mixtures were determined. And finally, an
unknown was identified by its mixtures and melting point.
The melting point of a compound is used by organic chemists not only to identify the compound, but
also to establish its purity. To determine the melting point two temperatures were noted. The first was
the point at which the first drop of liquid formed among the crystals; the second was the point at
which the whole mass of crystals turned to a clear liquid. And the melting point was recorded from

An unknown compound was obtained and the ID number was recorded. A capillary tube was loaded
with the unknown powder and inserted into the melting apparatus. The temperatures at which the

Sarbanes-Oxley s Code Of Ethics
First, we need to grasp how Codes of ethics were created and if formulated from a standard boilerplate
Ethics program. As stated by FindLaw.com under Corporate Ethics and Sarbanes Oxley, in order to
create code of ethics, an organization must define its most important guiding values, formulate
behavioral standards to illustrate the application of those values to the roles and responsibilities of the
persons affected, review the existing procedures for guidance and direction as to how those values and
standards are typically applied, and establish the systems and processes to ensure that the code is
implemented and effective. (Navran, 2003) A company can work to promote ethical behavior;

Edward IV s Reign and Success Essay
Edward IV s Reign and Success Edward s reign was mainly stable and successful. He was the first
king to die financially solvent in over 200 years due mainly to his careful avoidance of major foreign
wars and by the end of his reign there was evident recovery of prosperity in the southern counties.
However, Edward died too early to ensure that his heir would succeed him unchallenged. He had not
created a collective commitment to the future of his dynasty that would make his heir strong enough to
survive a minority reign. Although this was his main failure, he did not wholly succeed in all other
actions through his reign. Edward s foreign policies appear to be eminently successful. The treaty ...

He dictated his council and rarely was opposed even by Parliament. His financial dependence on
Parliament was not too great; his only depended on them with expenditure. He had two steady sources
of revenue which were customs duties and royal estates. The introduction of the Land revenue led a
greater prominence of the chamber. His royal household now collected the taxes in place of the
Exchequer. He was seen as a financially capable businessman and was therefore able to borrow loans
easily from merchants in London. Although Edward was mainly successful with his financial policies
and his treatment of the nobility, he was in fact too reliant on the Duke of Gloucester and
Northumberland. This led to them becoming over mighty nobles, giving them the opportunity to
eventually depose Edward s heir from the throne. Although it was not obvious at the time, this was a
critical failure as it meant an undisputed succession was not ensured. Edward s commercial policy was
mainly successful. He promoted the development of the English merchant marine, a new market for
English trade and commerce. His treaty with Burgundy created a bigger British export trade. The
export of cloth doubled and the problem of piracy decreased. Also, the treaty of Utrecht increased
Hansiatic trade. Edward s only notable failure where trade was concerned was his tendency to

In fact, many maintained, the Apostles affirmed human bondage. A specific example was the Epistle
of Paul to Philemon, in which Paul addressed Philemon on how he should treat his runaway slave,

which was one of the most important antebellum journals in the South, and Hopkins argued Paul s
message was not one of abolition, but of perpetual servitude. This was not something Paul would have
done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow s Review, Now, had holding slaves been a crime,
Paul s duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he had no rights over
Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.] Moreover, as an Apostle of
Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as they pertained to
human bondage, believed Hopkins. Therefore, he questioned, Why does [Paul] not write to his
disciple, Philemon, and rebuke him for the awful sin of holding a fellow man in bondage, and charge
it upon him, as a solemn duty, to emancipate his slaves, at the peril of his soul? Hopkins succinctly
offered an answer to this question, surmising, St. Paul was inspired, and knew the will of the Lord
Jesus Christ, and was only intent on obeying it. Seemingly, writers in both regions read the

Essay on Memorable Moments In Mark Twain s Huck Finn
Mark Twain s famous novel, Huckleberry Finn, was published in 1855. The story was based off a
character that was an ornery and crazy boy, but still had a kind heart. In the time period of the novel it
was during the movement of slaves becoming their own people, and regaining their freedom. This was
a hard concept for the people of America to accept. The story follows Huck as he helps free Jim, a
slave who had escaped due to the fact that he was going to be sold. This idea for a novel was a very
different idea, and had been one of the first novels to be publicly banned; yet Mark Twain was at
peace with it because he understood it would bring up his sales. Huck Finn has an important moral

Through the novel you see an internal battle of will for Huck, and all of the fighting inside of his head
starts off from the very first, and last prank he plays on Jim. The scene of Jim s near death experience
with the snake is vital for Huck s maturity to be finally kicking in. He sees Jim as a true person, and
the fact that he would jeopardize someone s life like that scared him into becoming more of a mature
young man. Thus, he helps Jim in any situation that comes across as trouble. For example, the Duke
and King when they turned him in, Huck went and pretended to be Tom Sawyer to retrieve Jim back.
He even went through extravagant events in towns to help out Jim. In the novel, Huckleberry Finn, the
two characters Jim and Huck grow closer than ever over their crazy adventure on the little raft. It all of
their connections start because of the prank, the silly rattlesnake prank. Jim felt touched that Huck
cared enough to feel a lot of remorse after his prank that the next part of the book Jim tells him a

great friendship between a traditional southern boy, and a slave who desires his freedom. They endure
multiple problems together, and seem to always be there for each other, all because of the trust built
from a ridiculous snake prank. Mark

Traditional programs offer easily navigable websites for the traditional student, one just out of high

returning to school with families and career already in place, including video testimonials, program

media conversations (Maslowsky, 2012). University of Phoenix accomplishes this through the
interactive website, targeted commercials in adult learner rich audience demographics, and easily

student, and by and large their websites have information for the adult earner tacked on to pages and

difference that bears exploration, and likely frustrates potential students and sends them to a system

Its profanity has been declared in numerous states, as parents claim to be fearful that their children
will be scarred by the events and foul language in the novel (Reiff). This fear has been elevated so
much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and Louisville that
almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the book was
prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to

encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more

Explaine how you will measure your roommates progress and what schedules of reinforcement will be

Operant conditioning is one s attempt to modify behaviors which are generally voluntary in nature and

The next level of management would be the middle level. They are the general managers, regional
managers, and district managers of a company. Middle level managers are given the task of enforcing
the goals set by the top level managers. In addition, they set their own set of goals based upon the ones
set by the top level managers. Middle mangers do a lot work in assisting first line managers. They
help to encourage them to achieve business standards. They are like a liaison between the top level
managers and the first level managers because the communicate issues amongst the two levels. They
can monitor and help between small to large groups of people. A downside to being a middle level
manager is that sometimes messages can get mixed up between the top level and first level managers.
Of course as before the good side to it is the pay and the position. Many of these managers are former
first level managers that was promoted to the middle level management position. The last and final
level of management is the first level managers. The have got to be one of the most important
managers because they work with the bread and butter of the company. They are the store managers,
department managers, office managers, and shift supervisors. They handle all lower level employees
and have a big impact on the organization. They oversee the actions of others on a daily basis. In a
way one can conclude that they are a part of the business law side because they

Outline Of Social And Psychological Factors On Effective...
OUTLINE THE SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO
EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP
Leadership is defined as The action of leading a group of people or an organisation, or the ability to do
this (Oxford Dictionary Online, 2014). However, from a socio psychological viewpoint, Chemers
defined leadership as A process of social influence through which an individual enlists and mobilises
the aid of others in the attainment of a collective goal (Chemers 2001, as cited in Hogg Vaughn, 2014,
p.315). An effective leader can be described as one that motivates and inspires others and collectively,
with the group embraces new values, attitudes and goals. There are many psychological and social
aspects that contribute to an effective leader; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, therefore, suggests that there are other factors aside from personality that contribute to an
effective leader. History itself also provides evidence that not all successful leaders possess these
certain attributes; for example, Mahatma Ghandi was a quiet leader known for his peaceful protests
and Napoleon Bonaparte was widely known for being short which also led to the psychological
condition, Napoleon Complex being named after him. Researchers have carried out further
investigations as to whether there is a relationship between the basic personality factors and effective
leadership. The big five personality inventory consists of extraversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness. Judge, Bono, IIies Gerhardt (2002) meta
analysed 222 correlations from 73 studies and found that the five factor model had an overall
correlation of 0.48 with leadership, with extraversion being the most consistent correlate of leadership
across study settings and leadership criteria. However, trait theories have been criticised as they fail to
delimit a definitive list of leadership traits and little research has been done to look at traits in
relationship to leadership outcomes. Trait theories also fail to consider the situational effect on
leadership ability.
Situational factors also contribute to an effective leader, such that, leaders in one situation may not be

  • 4. The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes. Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes, those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . No census was ever taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it. The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn t. What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. So after a couple of weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms, businesses to sell much needed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Operation and Performance of Reciprocating Engine Operation and Performance of Reciprocating Engine As an accident investigator, understanding the operation and performance of the reciprocating engine is essential. Reciprocating engine can be branched into two groups, the 2 stroke and 4 stroke operating cycles. The 2 stroke reciprocating engine completes a power cycle in only one crankshaft revolution and two strokes, compression and power stroke. This is achieved when power and compression stroke happens simultaneously while the piston is near the bottom of its travel. The 4 stroke reciprocating engine operates on the 4 stroke 5 event cycle, which are the intake, compression, power, exhaust stroke and ignition event. During the intake stroke, the piston descends from top dead center (TDC) with the exhaust valve closed and the intake valve open to the bottom dead center (BDC) of the cylinder. As the piston descends, a mixture of air and fuel from the carburetor is drawn into the cylinder. After the intake valve closed, the piston moves back toward TDC of the cylinder compressing the fuel air mixture. Just before the piston is close to TDC, ignition takes place by a spark plug in gasoline engines which produces an electric spark in the fuel air mixture. The piston move back down toward BDC resulted by the pressure from the combustion of the compressed fuel air mixture. This causes the crankshaft to rotate, thus turning the propeller. During the exhaust stroke, it expels the used fuel air mixture through the exhaust valve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Major Sociology Of Health And Aging Journal 1 One of the main reasons I chose to major in sociology of health and aging is because I was always really interested in the definition of health. How is health defined within and between cultures? Is there a universal definition of health and if so who gets to create said definition. As I become more and more involved in this idea of health I found it to be socially constructed depending on the culture on belongs too. There is no one definition for even within a specific culture an individual s health is changing over time, health is dynamic and at different stages of you life span an individual s definition and perception of health changes with them. However before we dive into specific avenues on how health is influenced I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However given this information there are still a variety of other factors i.e. social factors that can have a massive influence on an individuals health and these things are not the easy to change and manipulate. Social determinates of health is loosely defined as the conditions in which people are born, grow, live etc. individuals tend to have less control over theses factors especially at a younger age. Which got me thinking how does one s social economic status influence an individual s health. Is there a massive gap between individuals of more marginalized group compared to the majority when socio economic status is involved? How about taking a look at individuals who have approximately the same financial income and live in different areas of a specific town, or state so comparing urban areas to suburban areas. Also looking to see if individuals of lesser socioeconomic have in general poorer health if so then why. I personally believe that there will be a huge disparity between individuals who have a higher socioeconomic status compared to those who make a lot less. As you continue to look at the opposite ends of the spectrum I think that gap will only become more and more wide. Personally I am an African American student living in London and I have had to experience the challenge with regards to eating healthy on a student budget and it can at time be more than challenging. • 7. Easyjet s Business Model Aims EasyJet s business model aims at using their cost advantage and leading network positions in strong markets to convey point to point cheap fares and operational efficiency. It provides friendly services to customers and delivers market leading returns to shareholders, by sustaining a dominant European network at primary airports, with the main objective of making travel easy and affordable for customers. Despite the fact that, low priced airline model has been really favoured in recent years, there are still key issues identified with EasyJet s business model which are; it s cost base, limitation of airports and oil prices. Firstly, it s cost base. The low priced industry is highly competitive with various brands contending for the same customer base, which has led to price battles and other actions that makes it challenging for EasyJet to keep up due to concern over cost involved in trying to cut fares further or offering any luxury. Secondly, Easy jet stays away from big airports like London Heathrow airport to cut down cost of landing. However, this makes customers who live nearby the airports uncomfortable, since time and money are wasted to travel to easy jet landing airports. Lastly, due to fluctuations in the Middle East, impact of increased oil prices, cost of production is increased and this eliminates profit margin therefore customers have to pay more. Companies identified as comparator companies to easy jet include; Ryanair, British airways and Flybe. Ryanair is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Controversy over whether or not Italy should be unified stirred up during the mid to late 1800 s. The unification of the Italian states was an ongoing debate for quite some time. During the years of the debates people found the unification to be positive change, a negative change, and some had different opinions for their own certain reasons. Those who agreed that Italy should be unified argued that Italy would not survive in the separated states, would be vulnerable to invasions, and would ultimately be weaker overall. There were obvious pros and cons to the unification if Italy, but some civilians were on the fence. A number of people weren t really for, but were not against the unification of Italy. • 11. Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Essay Review of Hardball by Chris Matthews Before I started reading the book Hardball, by Chris Matthews, I had a preconceived idea of what the content of this book would be. From the title of the book I drew the conclusion that Matthews would write more about the darker side of politics and how it is really played. I don t really know much about politics, and frankly, I don t care much for politics. However, when I hear the word hardball in the context of politics, I think of blood shed. I think of dirty tricks and blackmail and money changing hands in dark places. I even think of the mafia to some degree when I hear the word hardball. The content of this book is best described on page 17 where Matthews describes speaking to a congressman in the Democratic cloakroom about writing the book. Quietly, I confided to one of the members that I was writing a book about the rules of politics, including all the tricks I had overheard in the off the record hideaways like this. He look at me, a crease of pain crossing his forehead, and said with dead seriousness, Why do you want to go and give them away? By describing the concern of this individual, Matthews conveys to the reader that he s actually going to give detailed accounts of how politicians operate in Washington. The congressman is concerned about what the public would think if they had detailed knowledge of how politicians operate, and that s actually the most compelling reason for reading this book. Matthews relates a myriad of examples of how some of today s most successful politicians rose to the top. The successful politicians are those who learned how to play hardball. They learnt that there were other people besides themselves on the playing field and that when you throw ball in the game of politics, someone is going to be on the other side to catch it and throw it back, and you must be ready for it. This is perhaps most evident in the section of the book called Enemies, where Matthews describes the rule of power: Keep your enemies in front of you, as President Reagan did by appointing James A. • 12. Pest Analysis Of Walmart Several years ago, I was the Director of HR Strategy for Walmart US. As a component of one of my early projects, and being fairly new to the organization, I was asked to conduct a PEST of the organization based on my team s perspective. As a retail industry leader, Walmart continues to withstand the potential negative effects of threats in the political, economic, sociocultural, and technological (PEST) aspects of its business. However, this success requires continued evaluation of the retail industry environment and constant investment in risk mitigation strategies and processes. These PEST factors also change over time, and since it has been years for me since being there, I fresh look is required. These constant changes may present new threats or opportunities that were otherwise not contemplated before (i.e. the Amazon effect). Walmart must exploit the opportunities and protect itself from threats. In using the PEST analysis, Walmart leaders and managers can determine which factors to prioritize in strategy development. Let s look at each of the four factors in our further analysis. Political Factors Are there any other political factors that are likely to change? Walmart considers political factors in the retail and employment markets, usually pertaining to government policies and employment law. In the PEST analysis model, politically active interest groups are also significant in how Walmart reacts to this aspect. For the most part, politics that would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the speaker is surrounded by work that needs a consistent amount of doing, she is undoubtedly in need of her own. Because the author never mentions what the speaker is like outside of the home, it s hard for one to imagine what she is like outside of the home. • 17. The Spiritual Lessons From Joshua Introduction Spiritual Lessons From Joshua Joshua was deeply devoted to God, the God of Israel, and a loyal servant of Moses. He took charge of Israel after the death of Moses, and he gave instructions to carry the Arc of the Covenant across the Jordan River, which parted as did the Red Sea. He lead Israel around the city of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down and he lead Israel s conquest of the promise land. There has been no day like the day that God heeded Joshua s command for the sun to stand still for one whole day. In light of all this it is interesting, even somewhat puzzling, that Joshua is not even named by the apostle Paul as one of the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. There are two hundred and one Bible references to Joshua, which leaves us with many valuable lessons; there are very few more dramatic examples of faith in the entire Bible. So why did the apostle Paul leave Joshua s name out of the list of the faithful in Hebrews 11? Could it have been because the long list of Joshua s accomplishments over shadowed the man himself? Or the things that God did through him were so great that the events actually eclipsed Joshua deeds? There are plenty of spiritual lessons to be found in the book of Joshua. I just wish to highlight a few here are seven of them. First, good leaders must first be good servants. Second, impossible situations provide glorious opportunities to trust God. Lamb to the Slaughter uses the elements better than Gift of the Magi in many different ways, starting with it s precise characters. Lamb to the slaughter expresses many literary elements, creating a story about Mary Maloney s experience with her husband. Dramatic irony is a very critical part of the story, especially while evaluating the situation. Personally, I think it s right here on the premises. Probably right under our very noses. Mary asked them of a favor to eat the lamb leg cooking in the oven, and the weapon was right under their noses when they were eating. Additionally, the imagery really helps the most crucial part of the story come alive. Mary walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head(Roald Dahl 4). Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). • 29. Edward IV s Reign and Success Essay Edward IV s Reign and Success Edward s reign was mainly stable and successful. He was the first king to die financially solvent in over 200 years due mainly to his careful avoidance of major foreign wars and by the end of his reign there was evident recovery of prosperity in the southern counties. However, Edward died too early to ensure that his heir would succeed him unchallenged. He had not created a collective commitment to the future of his dynasty that would make his heir strong enough to survive a minority reign. Although this was his main failure, he did not wholly succeed in all other actions through his reign. Edward s foreign policies appear to be eminently successful. The treaty ... His financial dependence on Parliament was not too great; his only depended on them with expenditure. He had two steady sources of revenue which were customs duties and royal estates. The introduction of the Land revenue led a greater prominence of the chamber. His royal household now collected the taxes in place of the Exchequer. He was seen as a financially capable businessman and was therefore able to borrow loans easily from merchants in London. Although Edward was mainly successful with his financial policies and his treatment of the nobility, he was in fact too reliant on the Duke of Gloucester and Northumberland. This led to them becoming over mighty nobles, giving them the opportunity to eventually depose Edward s heir from the throne. Although it was not obvious at the time, this was a critical failure as it meant an undisputed succession was not ensured. Edward s commercial policy was mainly successful. He promoted the development of the English merchant marine, a new market for English trade and commerce. His treaty with Burgundy created a bigger British export trade. The export of cloth doubled and the problem of piracy decreased. Also, the treaty of Utrecht increased Hansiatic trade. Edward s only notable failure where trade was concerned was his tendency to ... This was not something Paul would have done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow s Review, Now, had holding slaves been a crime, Paul s duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he had no rights over Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.] Moreover, as an Apostle of Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as they pertained to human bondage, believed Hopkins. Therefore, he questioned, Why does [Paul] not write to his disciple, Philemon, and rebuke him for the awful sin of holding a fellow man in bondage, and charge it upon him, as a solemn duty, to emancipate his slaves, at the peril of his soul? Hopkins succinctly offered an answer to this question, surmising, St. Paul was inspired, and knew the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, and was only intent on obeying it. This, therefore, suggests that there are other factors aside from personality that contribute to an effective leader. History itself also provides evidence that not all successful leaders possess these certain attributes; for example, Mahatma Ghandi was a quiet leader known for his peaceful protests and Napoleon Bonaparte was widely known for being short which also led to the psychological condition, Napoleon Complex being named after him.
