SOLAR PUMP
 A solar-powered pump is a pump running
on electricity generated
by photovoltaic panels
 Flat-plate collector is used to absorb the
sun’s energy to heat the water.
 Heat exchangers used to transfer solar
energy absorbed in solar collectors to the
liquid or air used to heat water
 Collector collects heat by absorbing
sunlight
WorkingPrinciple
 Solar flat-plate collector arrays are installed
to heat water or an organic fluid
 Hot water flows to mixing tank or storage
tank
 Hot water then flows to heat exchanger
 It converts the working fluid of heat engine
or turbine from liquid to vapour
 Working fluid(R-115) Low cost & high
efficiency.
 Hot water again fed into collector by
circulating pump
 The vapour is discharged from the turbine or
heat engine
 That vapour flows into condenser where the
vapour gets condensed.
 The working fluid is fed into heat exchanger
through feed pump to complete the cycle
 The water which is pumped is used as a
coolant in condenser of the heat engine
Advantages
 High efficiency heat engine is achieved by
high temperature in heat engine
 Optimum range of operating temperature is
used in solar pumping system to attain
maximum efficiency
 Energy efficiency= % of solar energy
collected with quantity which convert into
useful work(14%)
