2. INTRODUCTION
Solar light and solar pump are based on the
principle of photovoltaic system.
Solar photovoltaic system or PV system is an eco-
friendly technology developed to transform the
solar energy into electricity through solar panels.
A PV system comes in various sizes and is useful
in solar water heating, ventilation, pumping,
lighting, etc.
3. SOLAR LIGHT
A solar light , also known as solar lantern , is a lighting
system composed of an LED lamp , solar panels , battery
, charge controller & may be an inverter.
Solar Panel collects the solar energy & converts it to DC
power. The size of solar panel depends on various
factors.
A lithium rechargeable battery is required to store the
energy which will power the LED in dusk.
Charge controller will manage the power going to & from
the battery to prevent over charging or discharging.

Street lights
Garden solar lamps
Solar boat lighting
In rural India and remote regions of the
world , solar lamps are being used to
replace kerosene lamps.
6. SOLAR PUMPING
Solar powered pumps run on electricity generated
by PV panels or the radiated thermal energy
available from collected sunlight as opposed to grid
electricity or diesel run water pumps.
Generally, these consist of a solar panel array ,
charge controller, DC/AC water pump, fuse
box/breakers, electrical wiring & a water storage
tank.
With the cost of diesel and electricity rising
constantly, solar water pumps are the best
alternative for rural regions.
