Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute developed a new antireflective coating that allows solar panels to absorb 96.21% of sunlight from any angle, overcoming major barriers to efficient solar energy. The nanoengineered coating stacks 7 layers that each enhance absorption of the layer below. This near-perfect absorption from all angles could help make solar power economically viable and allow stationary solar arrays without moving parts.
