Introduction
• Solar phone chargers is a
separate device that uses a
small solar panel to absorb
light and then converted
into electricity which used
by the mobile battery.
• Multiple phone can be
charged.
• Same device can be used for
different phones.
Solar Panel
 A solar panel is a set of solar
photovoltaic modules
electrically connected and
mounted on a supporting
structure.
 A photovoltaic module is a
packaged, connected
assembly of solar cell.
 Most efficient : 46%.
 Average efficiency: 15-20%.
Solar Process: How Solar Panel Works
Specification of charger
 Uses high-efficiency mono crystalline silicon.
 Solar panel: 5.5V/1000mA
 Output voltage: 5.0V
 Output current: 300-550 mA
 Time taken to charge mobile phone using the charger : about 60mintues for
typical mobile

Advantages
 Cost Effective: It does not require electric power
 Versatile: it can be used for all types of mobile phones
 Uninterrupted Power Supply: it can be used to charge mobiles even during
power outages.
 Emergency Purposes: it hardly requires any electrical outlet It can therefore
be used purposes during emergencies and outdoor
 Compact Design: Solar mobile phone chargers are compact in size and easy to
carry around.
Disadvantages
 Quite expensive: The installation of Solar power panel .
 Charging time large: It can take six to eight hours to charge mobile
phones compared to the other.
 Solar panels are not able to tap more than 20% of its energy.
 Area requirement: Size of mobile phones is not sufficient for placing
solar panel.
 Weather problem: weather is not uniform all over the world.
 Solar Energy is uneven distributed across the planet.
Application
 For low-power portable electronics, like calculators or small fans, a
photovoltaic array may be a reasonable energy source rather than a battery.
 Solar chargers can charge lead acid or Ni-Cd battery bank up to 48 V and
hundreds of ampere-hours (up to 400 Ah) capacity.
 Small portable models designed to charge a range of different mobile phones,
cell phones, iPods or other portable audio equipment.
 Public solar chargers permanently installed in public places, such as parks,
squares and streets, which passersby can use for free.
Conclusion
 Renewable energy is not a new concept, nevertheless at an exponential
growing population, the development and improvement of them are essential
to sustain world power hunger.
 In 2050 the population expectation on earth is about 9 billion people, where
approximately 5 billion will use mobile phones.
 The application of renewable energy at portable devices starts to plays a
significant role at global energy saving. Solar chargers are simple, portable
and ready to use devices which can be used by anyone especially in remote
areas.
Future Scope
 Basically the solar mobile charger is designed for charging mobile battery. But
in future, by making some modifications we can use this charger to charge
batteries used in different portable devices like laptop, walky-talky, digital
camera etc.
 Cost of this circuitry can be reduced to certain extend so that common man
can easily purchase that and get benefit from that.

  • 3. Introduction • Solar phone chargers is a separate device that uses a small solar panel to absorb light and then converted into electricity which used by the mobile battery. • Multiple phone can be charged. • Same device can be used for different phones.
  • 4. Solar Panel  A solar panel is a set of solar photovoltaic modules electrically connected and mounted on a supporting structure.  A photovoltaic module is a packaged, connected assembly of solar cell.  Most efficient : 46%.  Average efficiency: 15-20%.

  • 6. Specification of charger  Uses high-efficiency mono crystalline silicon.  Solar panel: 5.5V/1000mA  Output voltage: 5.0V  Output current: 300-550 mA  Time taken to charge mobile phone using the charger : about 60mintues for typical mobile

  • 10. Samsung Blue Earth: The World First Solar Powered Touchscreen Phone in Action  One hour in sun gives 10 min of talk time.  Made up of recovered plastic bottles  Ecofriendly
  • 11. LG POP ( LG GD510)  10 minutes of sunlight to provide 2.25 minutes of talk time.
  • 12. Advantages  Cost Effective: It does not require electric power  Versatile: it can be used for all types of mobile phones  Uninterrupted Power Supply: it can be used to charge mobiles even during power outages.  Emergency Purposes: it hardly requires any electrical outlet It can therefore be used purposes during emergencies and outdoor  Compact Design: Solar mobile phone chargers are compact in size and easy to carry around.

Disadvantages  Quite expensive: The installation of Solar power panel .  Charging time large: It can take six to eight hours to charge mobile phones compared to the other.  Solar panels are not able to tap more than 20% of its energy.  Area requirement: Size of mobile phones is not sufficient for placing solar panel.  Weather problem: weather is not uniform all over the world.  Solar Energy is uneven distributed across the planet.
  • 14. Application  For low-power portable electronics, like calculators or small fans, a photovoltaic array may be a reasonable energy source rather than a battery.  Solar chargers can charge lead acid or Ni-Cd battery bank up to 48 V and hundreds of ampere-hours (up to 400 Ah) capacity.  Small portable models designed to charge a range of different mobile phones, cell phones, iPods or other portable audio equipment.  Public solar chargers permanently installed in public places, such as parks, squares and streets, which passersby can use for free.
  • 15. Conclusion  Renewable energy is not a new concept, nevertheless at an exponential growing population, the development and improvement of them are essential to sustain world power hunger.  In 2050 the population expectation on earth is about 9 billion people, where approximately 5 billion will use mobile phones.  The application of renewable energy at portable devices starts to plays a significant role at global energy saving. Solar chargers are simple, portable and ready to use devices which can be used by anyone especially in remote areas.
  • 16. Future Scope  Basically the solar mobile charger is designed for charging mobile battery. But in future, by making some modifications we can use this charger to charge batteries used in different portable devices like laptop, walky-talky, digital camera etc.  Cost of this circuitry can be reduced to certain extend so that common man can easily purchase that and get benefit from that.
