SOLAR ENERGY By Nacho Álvarez Fernández 6th grade
Solar energy comes from radiant light and heat of the sun
People started to use solar panels in 1876. Energy from the sun was used from the beginning of History to get warm.
Solar energy is transformed in electricity or heat. Electricity is transported through wires. Solar energy converted to heat Solar energy converted to electricity
Things that work with solar energy: computers, multimedia players, lamps, chargers, etc…
The solar potential of Spain is the highest in Europe.
Spain is the fourth solar power manufaturer of solar energy in the world. Solar energy has covered 2.8% of the electricity demand in 2009
Advantages PV cells can be used almost anywhere and do not make any noise. Solar energy does not produce carbon dioxide which can lead to problems like making countries hotter and drier. Solar energy is renewable and the Sun’s heat and light is free.
Disadvantages PV cells do not work so well when it is cloudy and do not work at night. Some countries are not very sunny! Solar power works better in hot places.
