Solar energy is a renewable energy source that can be converted into usable energy through solar panels. It is provided by the sun in the form of solar radiation, which is most abundant during the day. Solar energy is clean and renewable, and can be used to produce electricity through solar panels or heat water and homes. It has advantages of being free once the solar panels are installed and causing no pollution, but disadvantages include that it is not available at night and solar cooking requires direct sunlight. Solar energy can be classified as passive, active, photovoltaic, or concentrated, and used for applications like lighting, heating, cooling, electricity generation, and cooking.

- 2. Sunlight is renewable energy source which can be converted into usable energy by by solar panels which is called SOLAR ENERGY. It is the energy provided by the sun. This energy is the form of solar radiation which helps in the production of solar electricity during the day particularly. It is the cleanest and abundant renewable energy source.
- 3. List of solar products / How solar energy is used ?? 1.Solar cooker 2.Solar lamp 3.Solar street light 4.Solar traffic light 5.Solar panel on spacecraft 6.Solar energy is used to heat water 7.Solar energy is used for battery charging 8.It can heat your home
- 4. Advantages ofSolar Energy 1.Solar Energy is clean and renewable source of energy. 2.Once Solar Panel is installed Solar Energy can be produced free of charge. 3.Solar Energy does not cause any pollution 4.It is available during day time. 5.Atleast 4 items can be cooked at the same time in solar cooker. 6.Solar Cells made absolutely no noise at all 7.It is available in diffused form(scattered form.
- 5. Disadvantages of Solar Energy 1. Solar energy cannot be used to cook food during night time because sunshine is not available at that time. 2. If the day sky is covered with clouds even then solar energy cannot be used to cook food. 3. The direction of reflector of solar cooker has to be changed from time to time to keep it facing the sun.
- 6. Types of Solar Energy We can classify solar energy according to its basic use:- • Passive Solar Energy • Active Solar Energy Solar energy is also classified how it is transformed and used • Photovoltaic Solar Power • Solar Thermal Energy • Concentrated Solar Energy
- 7. 1.Passive solar energy It is a method in which Solar Energy is harnessed in its direct form without using mechanical devices Drying Clothes in daylight is an example of using solar energy passively. It applications are:- •Daylighting •Passive Solar Heating •Passive Solar cooling
- 8. 2.Active Solar Energy It employs mechanical or electrical equipment for functioning and increase system efficiency. Applications of Active Solar Energy are:- •Active Solar Water Heating •Active Solar Pool Heating •Active Solar Space Heating
- 9. 3.Photovoltaic Solar Energy The Energy generated by incident solar energy(light) into electricity is termed as Photovoltaic Solar Power. This is done using Photovoltaic Solar Cells. Applications of Photovoltaic Solar Power are:- •Solar Electricity •Solar Panels can be expensive to installed •Electricity generation depends entirely on country's exposure to sunlight, this could be limited by countries climate.
- 10. 4.Solar Thermal Energy It is the heat energy derived fro the incident solar energy(sunlight) is is used by solar heating panels. Advantages of Solar Thermal Energy are:- •Solar Pool Heating •Solar Space Heating •Solar Water Heating Concentrated Solar Power It generate solar energy by using lenses or mirror to concentrate a large area of sunlight on to a small area. It is used to generate solar power electricity on large scale by using this technology.
