Introduction
 Soil stabilization means the improvement
of stability or bearing stress. (ref. Anas
Ashraf and Arya Sunil 2011)
 Stabilization is the process of blending
and mixing plastic materials with soil.
 Effect of waste bottle chips on strength
parameters of cohesive soil.
 Ultimate plastic use in soil until decrease
the value of shear strength , bearing
capacity.
Objectives
 Provide an alternative solution for
the disposal of plastic waste.
 Provide an economical solution for
Soil stabilization using plastic waste
determine the optimum plastic
content to be used.
 By using industrial waste we will
make the environment friendly.
 Increase shear strength, tensile
strength of the soil by decrease the
compressibility of the soil.

Soil improvement technique by plastic waste

  • 3. Introduction  Soil stabilization means the improvement of stability or bearing stress. (ref. Anas Ashraf and Arya Sunil 2011)  Stabilization is the process of blending and mixing plastic materials with soil.  Effect of waste bottle chips on strength parameters of cohesive soil.  Ultimate plastic use in soil until decrease the value of shear strength , bearing capacity.
  • 4. Objectives  Provide an alternative solution for the disposal of plastic waste.  Provide an economical solution for Soil stabilization using plastic waste determine the optimum plastic content to be used.  By using industrial waste we will make the environment friendly.  Increase shear strength, tensile strength of the soil by decrease the compressibility of the soil.
  • 5. Plastic proportioned increase up to 8% mixed bearing capacity test (ref. Dr. A.I. Dhatrak 2015) Optimum percentages of waste plastics, quarry dust in soil sample (ref. CHOUDHARY, JHA AND GILL 2010) Literature Review Continue ….
  • 6. Soil reinforcement plastic waste fiber curing out UCT for tensile strength (ref. Huntohar 2004) Plastic water bottle through model plate load tests showed ultimate bearing capacity (ref. S.W. Direct Shear Test  Determine the shear parameters of soil by using shear Box apparatus  Shear strength parameters of a silty or sandy soil at known density and moisture content  Determine shear strength cohesive and non cohesive soil  Determine the consolidated-drained shear strength of soil Continue ….

Use plastic trips increasing percentage in soil Determine bearing strength and shearing strength of soil Direct Shear Test /Tri-Axial Shear Test Optimum use of plastics trips What value for cohesion (c) and angle of friction (ø),optimum use of plastic What value for bearing & shearing strength at optimum use of plastic Optimum use of plastics trips until decreasing of bearing capacity, shearing capacity
  • 10. Expected Outcome The bearing capacity value has been increasing up to expected plastic content and there on it started to decrease. Expected plastic content is the optimum content of utilization of waste plastic in the soil. Determine ultimate bearing capacity and shearing capacity.
