Next Generation Social Media: Alignment of Business Processes and Social Inte...Vinay Mummigatti
As enterprises try to catch up with the social media buzz, many companies are starting to realize that it is difficult to define tangible business outcomes around social media investments. Social intelligence and social analytics are new con- cepts which have the potential to help enterprises move beyond basic marketing and define a goal-oriented strategy around social media.
The next wave of social media investments will be in enterprise programs that are designed to facilitate participation in social media interactions, analyzing the data generated and taking real time actions that govern product, marketing, distribu- tion and pricing processes.
The larger ecosystem of any enterprise includes business partners, employees and customers. Each of these constituents plays an important role in processes that govern innovation, customer experience, collaboration, supply chain, talent management and overall business growth. Social media is emerging as the glue that binds these groups and creates tidal waves that can make or break the fu- ture of any company. The only way organizations can ride this wave successfully is to track the social interactions, derive events and patterns that can lead to business process improvements across different functional areas. Another aspect of social media which is internal to an enterprise is in terms of collaborative busi- ness processes where collective knowledge sharing and decision-making is greatly enhanced through social tools.
Certain emerging trends in technology such as the collaboration between social media and mobile technology providers have created a revolution in the adoption rate of social media. The confluence of social media and mobile technologies is creating upheaval not just in competitive dynamics but also across social and po- litical spheres.
The focus of this paper is to enable organizations to define a strategy around Social Media and tie it to measurable outcomes as defined by core processes that are critical to the survival and growth of any enterprise.

This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.

Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.

Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.

Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.

Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Editor's Notes
Thank you all for joining me today, My name is Mohala Johnson and I represent “Advertising Agency”. For the next 30 minutes or so I will be discussing social media advertising in the 21st century. Are any of you currently familiar with social media, if so kindly raise your hands. . ( take a moment to see if any hands are raised, acknowledge this fact with a smile and head nod then continue) . . I see some of you are and some are a bit unsure. Not to worry by the time this presentation is over you will have a whole new outlook on social media that will replace any any preconceived notions. Social Media Advertising may seem like an oxymoron, However I assure you it is not. Lets get started by introducing you to the basics by answering a few questions. . . . (next slide)
As you may or may not be aware the internet has be around for quite some time, social media and social media advertising however did not make it’s internet debut until about the early 90’s. Since then there has been a noticeable increase in the way corporations use social media. What is Social Media? Simply stated ‘social media’ is a virtual means to create, establish, maintain and interact with various individuals. This seeming simple task can be instigated by individuals and corporations alike. How does it pertain to the corporate world? As more and more business venture into the world of Social Media the way we do business has rose to the occasion. Having a social media account linked to your business has innumerable benefits and seems to be what is currently trending in the world of coherence. “94% of all businesses with a marketing department used social media as part of their marketing platform [in 2012 according to (SearchEngineWatch.com)].” As this number continues to rise it is becoming more apparent that it is part of acceptable businesses practices to utilize Social Media in the corporate setting. “The number-one benefit of social media marketing is generating more business exposure (reported 85% of marketers), followed by increasing traffic (69%) and providing marketplace insight (65%);”(SearchEngineWatch.com) all of these three elements are simply the tip of the iceberg – so to speak. When was this trend established? The very first signs of corporations in the social media platforms made its slow and seemingly silent debut in the early 90’s with such websites as “Tripod” which allowed it’s users to upload content and share it with others via a customized URL. Before the rise and domination of Facebook there was Myspace as well as several others social media sites; however at the time of their birth these sites were geared more towards getting people to simply share content with ‘friends’ and there were only minimal signs of the presence of corporations. With the explosion of popularity of Facebook by the early 2000’s several businesses noticed the possibilities of utilizing this free service to advertise their services, products and essentially market themselves in a new and more interactive way. (Notes on dates for reference if needed, provided via Dr. Anthony Curtis = 1992 Tripod opened as a community online for college students and young adults. 2003 LinkedIn was started as a business-oriented social networking site for professionals. 2011 Social media commerce was on the rise along with mobile social media via smartphones and tablet computers. ) How does it relate to our company? As an IT company it seems only natural in this technological age to be utilizing something that has been around for over a decade. Although the widespread popularity of social media advertising is a somewhat newer concept, it has been around in various forms. As a standard of any company which works in the digital medium, it is to be assumed by many that everyone in this field is in fact on social media. Does this mean you are behind the trend? Not at all, it simply means that in order to remain competitive you need to seriously think about jumping on this bandwagon. What can we do? Fear not my friends, there is a very simple and comprehensive way we can remedy the situation and get you social in no time. Let’s discuss some key facts of working in the IT industry so that you can understand how Social Media advertising can work for you. . . (Next Slide)
As an IT professional I would like to present three main focus that are industry specific. Firstly ‘Adaptation’; as we all know the ways of the internet and its counterparts are continually under new developments and constantly changing. In order to remain competitive or even ahead of your competition you need to remain able to adapt to any new software or hardware that arises. By doing so you will be considered to be a company that is suited to the 21st century and all of its evolved ways. The new business standards in the age of social media simply require that all businesses exist on this platform. Granted it is not required per say but more expected of any and all businesses, no matter what their field. However as an IT company it should be part of common practice. Have you ever checked your peers websites? If not I highly suggest that after this presentation you do so; for research as to what your counterparts are participating in and also in order to understand better how quickly the internet is evolving. Which brings us to my next point of Viral Interactions; simply put all forms of communication that occur online or via the internet are forms of Viral Interactions. Staying online and being able to show that your company understands the ins and outs of how important effective communication is creates the foundation for social media acceptance. Having an understanding of how vast and seemingly limitless the internet truly is with all of it’s possibly will allow you to also understand the benefits of social media advertising. Being able to connect with other leaders in the IT field, consumers, clients and even future clientele are all made possible by utilizing social media; that being said social media is highly beneficial from a professional standpoint. Sharing ideas and outsourcing maybe something that your company practices, if it is not it is certainly something which can be easily implemented and maintained with this added means of communication via social networking. As such a constantly evolving environment the internet as well as social media is continually undergoing growth. Both in products, services, user interactions, coding and so much more. Staying current in this ever changing platform is something that all IT professionals should strive for. The ability to communicate directly with consumers while showing a genuine interest and desire to meet their expectations or even exceed them is something that can be added to your companies portfolio of traits. While staying current plays a huge role in your companies success it is not something that will require additional strain or unwanted stress. With the aid of social media you can quickly and easily inform the public of accomplishments, Sales, or even landmarks your company has reached. Opening up this new line of direct communication will greatly improve your companies public standing as social media allows you to show more of your personal, personable site while maintaining and directing your companies view as seen by the public. Let’s talk about the . . . (Next Slide)
Here and Now aspect of Social Media Networking as well as advertising. As I am sure many of you are aware social media is everywhere. On the television, on the radio, business cards and even in newspapers and magazines. The digital age is upon us and with it comes the need to be a part of the virtual social scene. Where once going to meet clients one on one was enough to establish a professional relationship; now it seems like the added norm is to be followed by those you serve and wish to serve in the future. Social media si not only for staying social but is also a way to brand your company on your own without having to worry waiting for the next day’s paper or magazine to come out. You can inform others of your companies accomplishments, advertisements, beliefs or even respond to any ill press or misinformation in seconds rather than hours or days. Social media allows for real time updates which is something that any and all companies can utilize to their full advantage. Ensuring that your company has a favorable light to the general public can be accomplished in this way. It is a means to an end of having to meet specific deadlines or rush to make a statement via traditional sources. Now if your company has something to say you can say it in real time, this also creates an active image of your company. Most people on the hunt for an IT company wants to have one that is active, current and in the know. Being a part of the social media platform will allow your company to meet and exceed all of these expectations. Sill a bit confused about Social Media? Don’t be, let’s take a look at some of the different types of social media sites. . . . (Next Slide)
Now I know this might seem a little overwhelming, take a deep breath and bare with me for a second as we look at what the social media scene has to offer. Firstly I would like to bring your attention to the fact that although these icons are all different looking they are also used to represent specific brands in various ways. Take for example the Facebook ‘F’ (point to one of the F’s) Notice here is one style of this icon, (now point to another one) and here is another, (and point to a third) and here , (and now point to the final version of this icon) and here. What do these things all have in common? They are used to market the Social media site of Facebook, however they are all different in color and design. Social media can be customized and tailored to fit your business intimately. Not just in look and icon style but in content and how you choose to interact with the public. Most social media platform programs offer a paid advertising option which can be utilized to gear your ads towards individuals who may best benefit from seeing them. Let’ s talk a second about three of these platforms: “Twitter is a real-time information network that connects you to the latest stories, ideas, opinions and news about what you find interesting. Simply find the accounts you find most compelling and follow the conversations.”(Twitter.com/about) Another site that is used to connect with millions of members over 200 countries is LinkedIn, Their “mission is simple: connect the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. When you join LinkedIn, you get access to people, jobs, news, updates, and insights that help you be great at what you do.” Although Twitter and LinkedIn may seem like they are vastly different they are both being used in the same manner of social media advertising. Facebook, as we mentioned earlier is identifiable by the very recognized blue ‘F’. “Facebook's mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.” (Facebook.com/Facebook/info). The popularity of Facebook is apparent as it is seen everywhere we look. The ability to ‘like’ products, services and individuals is something that allows Facebook to be constantly evolving. Facebook user total climbed to 1.11 billion in this past year and it seems as though it will simply continue to rise in both popularity and usability. In 1995 Newsweek headlined an article: The Internet? Bah! Hype alert: Why cyberspace isn't, and will never be, nirvana. ; if only they had known what is to come. In todays technological age we often times find ourselves wondering what we ever did before the internet. Thankfully we don’t have to think about such things but can instead ponder all the great possibilities the internet does offer; especially trough social media. . . (Next Slide )
What kinds of opportunities does social media advertising and networking present? Lets take a look at how Real-Time Conversations can directly benefit your company interactions. By being able to quickly neutralize any misinformation made published about your company; real-time conversations allow for up to the minute factual statements. In the past it may have taken days, weeks or even months to respond to consumer complaints, issues or suggestions. Now with the aid of social media you can quickly and conveniently inform the general public of new ideas, product updates and especially milestone accomplishments in a matter of hours. CEO’s, managers and even regular old employees have the possibility to add their employment to their personal social media sites which adds brand awareness to those that they interact with via such sites. Having the versatility to interact on a personal level with various individuals across a social media site will also allow your company to establish and create a brand that they are proud of while relating on a personal level. By doing this they are helping to create a Wider Marketplace, increased web traffic, brand awareness and an overall web presence of your company is increased. By adding social media networking and advertising to your companies portfolio you are also helping to expand your audience. A bigger audience means a greater opportunity to expand your clientele. More people will be come aware of your corporation as well as informed as to what exactly your company has to offer them on a personal level. With the size and continued growth of the internet and the presence of social media it can only be anticipated that your company will be presented with infinite possibilities as well as growth potential. When you Expand your market place you also receive in return a bigger pool of Resources, such as networking contacts, potential employees, customers and of course reviews. With an expanded network you can also generate more Research into how your company in trending on the social media scene. There are a number of applications that help track, site referrals as well as over all traffic to both your companies website as well as social media sites. With information you can then direct advertising into what works best for you and your company. As your social media presence continues to grow and evolve with the internet your company will be able to expand and continue to grow as well. Growth Opportunities will be as vast and limitless as internet resources are a kind of living organism and will never stop growing itself. As you market your company on the social media platform you will find the ease of versatility in adapting to the individual needs of your company. “Onward and Upward” is the direction social media will take your company, and the best part? You get a say in how, when, where and of course why. Is utilizing social media for advertising a good idea? Of course it is, an estimated 43% of people aged 20-29 spend more than 10 hours a week on social media sites. That’s 10 hours a week that your presence could be seen by someone who may not have heard about you before. 10 hours a week where you don’t need to be making phone calls, sending emails or approving/ creating print ads.
