The Corporate Blog -
Globally, 91% of corporate bloggers cite internal communications as their primary function, but recent research shows that 67% of journalists use corporate blogs as secondary source material and 58% of investment analysts refer to them for their research. The blog has become an important communications channel for all stakeholder groups so why does the UK trail behind the US and much of corporate Europe in corporate blogging? This session highlights the role blogs can play.
Non-profits, governments, and civil society groups are not immune from the disruption digital networks have wrought in every other aspect of society. Jason and his team recently studied 40 campaigns, companies, and organizations that have recently won substantial social change efforts, and analyzed the common principles underlying their success. The results lined up with a career spent studying (and living) digital networks and movements.
Jason will be sharing the results of this research in Vancouver for the first time – a month before its official international launch. These principles of 21st Century campaigns will be combined with stories that bring them to live, and approaches to make them practical for organizations of all sizes and stripes.

A new class of online influencers is using blogs, video, social networks and other services to talk about products and companies. Finding and engaging with these people can be a daunting task. Google searches will only get you so far. In addition to blogs, new influencers use photo- and video-sharing sites, Twitter and other channels that don't show up in typical Google searches to spread their messages. This session shows how you can penetrate the invisible Web with a handful of tools and tactics to quickly find sources of influence in your world. We then offer advice on how to engage these opinion leaders as sources of advice, promotion and street-level marketing.
It's 2017. One in three minutes spent online is devoted to some form of social media activity. But, it's not just about staying in touch with friends and family anymore. Social media has turned into an educational and promotional tool for businesses as well as a community outreach and information distribution instrument for municipalities and universities. Through social media, customers and constituents can share feedback and businesses, municipalities and universities can find out what their audience wants.
The conversation today has moved beyond if you should be on social media for your business or organization to how to be most effective with it. Just knowing the basics of what social media is and which platform to use won't cut it anymore. Not with the 7,452 tweets or the 48,830 Facebook status updates per SECOND inundating social feeds. With the deluge of content shared on social networks every minute of every day, your posts, blogs, shares and comments won't be seen if you aren't doing social right. Don't waste your time using last year's marketing tactics.

Let's get back to simplicity when doing Java web development. Forget about DI frameworks, ORMs and complex build tools and see how we can develop well-tested, well-crafted web applications using only simple tools, libraries and techniques.
In this talk, I will share my experience rewriting a web application based on Spring MVC, Spring, Hibernate and Maven with only Simple and JDBC. We'll discuss the benefits and challenges of simplicity.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
