The Knowledge That The Laputians Possess May
The knowledge that the Laputians possess may also reflect some symbolism
towards the saying of ignorance is bliss. If one does not know about something,
they tend to not worry about, but the Laputians know so much with their abstract
theories of math and science that they are under continual disquietudes (Swift
2577). The knowledge they have also makes it very apparent that they never take
the time to enjoy themselves as they fear the end of Earth constantly and when
they meet an acquaintance in the morning, the first question is about the sun s
health...and what hopes they have to avoid the stroke of the approaching comet
(Swift 2577 78). They worry so much that their conversations are their worries
which is very sad. Another sad thing is the men of Laputa do not even spend their
time with their wives which makes it all the more easy for affairs to arise. The
women of Laputa are free to do as they please, but they are unable to leave the
island as the people of quality have found by frequent experience, how hard it is to
persuade their women to return from below (Swift 2578). As unfaithful as they are,
the women still attempt to leave. It almost seems like the knowledge the Laputians
have is so powerful that it was able to make their wives unfaithful. The
impracticalness of the Laputians become more evident with Gulliver s observations
and discoveries. Gulliver is given tutors by the Laputian King to teach him their
language; however, he finds that the words he
My Experience Of Riding Horses
I sat perched on a horse, named Sysco, waiting as the rest of the group in the arena
mounted. I looked out at the sight I never got sick of, a horse s neck up. I saw the
two ears, mane, forelock, and head. The silky mane just waiting to be brushed. The
face that is the best part of a horse, with it s dark, caring eyes waiting to know what
you are about to do, and it s mouth that munches on sweet treats and hay. The bridle
leading to my hands, the horn, and the front of the Western saddle were also in the
beautiful sight in front of me.
I was at a mother daughter horse camp, at Kidder Creek, a place near the Oregon
border. I was 10 years old, with my love of horses growing each day. Horses were my
favorite animals, and my experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Would the same happen to me? We also walked around the arena, near the edge. The
entire time, I was living the moment, remembering the moment, saving the moment. I
didn t want my dream to end, so I enjoyed it and preserved it while it was still
happening.
I think you are ready to trot, the instructor said.
All the sudden my almost empty mind flooded with thoughts. Were we ready? What
does trotting feel like? Will I be able to get Sysco to trot?
My mind flashed back to a scary moment. A family friend had two horses, but they
were not trained too much. I was riding off a lead line for the first time, and we
were just going around their big house. I was riding Jesse, a coal black coated
horse. I was about to finish a circle when Jesse started going faster. He started
trotting. It was only a few moments, but the trot felt as fast as American Pharoah, the
Triple crown race horse, and as bouncy as popcorn popping in a pan. The trot was
something I wanted to do on purpose, not suddenly.
My horse stood at the arena wall, watching as the instructor showed us how to trot.
You go into a walk, the squeeze your legs until the horse trots, she explained. It is
just like getting into a walk, just starting a gait faster.
I watched as the first person of the group went. Her horse looked beautiful as it
trotted. There is just something about horses when the move, with their gleaming
silky tails flowing out behind them, their body moving with a
Case Study Of The Body Shop
4. How sustainable is The Body Shop s success? In particular, what should Roddick
do about the emerging problems and expected difficulties of developing its operations
in the United States?
1.1 Introduction
Personal profile the name behind the Body Shop, a famous cosmetic line for decades
now, is Anita Roddick. On October 23, 1942 in Littlehampton, Sussex, England marks
her birth to an immigrant Italian family. After completing her degree at the Newton
Park College of education, she worked as a part time teacher and for the United
Nations in Geneva. After that, she travelled to different places like Tahiti, New
Hebrides, New Caledonia, Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, Australia, and
Johannesburg. Her fascination with the women she encountered in these places
became an episodic event in her life. It later formulated her tale of success. Also, she

Roddick started with small bottles since that was what she was complaining on.
They, lesser materials should be used to produce smaller, thinner and lighter
packages. This is one of the ways by which a company can minimize packaging costs,
and at the same time, maintaining products to be in line with green . Supporting the
environment is ensconced in the Body Shop from the very beginning. Years later, as
the Body Shop grew larger and larger, Roddick combined principles with profit.
Personality has much to say in defining Roddick s success. In Roddick s eyes,
Body Shop succeeded because of two reasons. Economic survival of her family,
especially during its beginnings, was a primary driving factor; and, the passion to
establish a shop of her own and to engage in trading was the other. She therefore
succeeded not because of a capitalist goal, which is profit. What she did was she
thought of ways to survive in the market. She did not dream of a big shop. The shop

You don t want to stare them in the eyes because they may be an extremely cold,

The Most Important American Woman Writers Of The 19th
Century
Noble Yet Contradictory American Women Writers of the 19th Century
Fighting for One Cause
Written expression is a beautiful thing and one of which is a freedom in which
Americans are granted, upon becoming citizens of the United States. Harriet Beecher
Stowe is known as The most important American woman writer of the nineteenth
century (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher Stowe). Famous for Uncle Tom s Cabin,
Stowe published ten novels during her writing career. Stowe began writing in the
1830 s to support her family of seven children and husband, Calvin Stowe. Stowe
wrote with a comedic tone, yet, she also had intentions of writing for a purpose of
the weakening of human ethics and the troubles of servitude. She was a very bright,

That ere s so now, ain t it? (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher Stowe) The language of
Sam s character is showing both his lack of education and also proper knowledge
of the English language. His aunt chimes in dialect from time to time in the story,
but seems to be slightly more proper than her nephew, My opinion is that if folks
don t mind their own business, and do with their might what their hands finds to
do, the Millennium won t come at all (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher Stowe). It is
interesting to see how Stowe, even in the nineteenth century, recognizes the
importance of an education, along with proper English, and implements these
stereotypes throughout her fictitious stories. With this noted, it shows how
informal her writing style appears and appeals to various readers whom may pick
up her book(s). For example, the highly educated readers enjoying this title may
delight in mocking the poor literacy of Sam. Conversely, one who has little
education may be able to pick up on phonetic words that the author has created,
laughing along with Sam struggling to see the Aunt s perspective. For example,
Why, lordy massy, boys, he would say, I can t bear to see no kind o critter in
torment. These ere pouts ain t to blame for bein fish, and ye ought to put em out of
misery. Fish hes their rights as well as any on us (Showalter, Ch. Harriet Beecher

Fiscal Policy Vs Monetary Policy
Stimulating, keeping balance, and influencing our economy are only a few things
our nation strives for when it comes to regulating our economy. Two of the powerful
tools our government uses in getting our countries economy in the right direction are
fiscal and monetary policy. Both of these policies are extremely effective in their
own ways and when used together can only help an economy more than harm it.
Taking a closer look at the policies individually, the fiscal policy seems to have a
bigger role in regulating the economy. Through government management the fiscal
policy seems to hold up its part of the deal and betters the economy in the long run.
One of the influential policies that our nation uses is monetary policy. Monetary
policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The policy objectives are to set base interest rates, or creating easy money
/influencing the supply of money. For example, in the United States, the Federal
Reserve Bank is tasked with achieving maximum employment and price stability at
the same time. One of the tools that the Federal Reserve board uses is purchasing
and/or selling U.S. government bonds in the market which ultimately influences
the supply of money. If a nation is in a recession, the monetary policy may put in
place in order to regulate the economy by selling government bonds for newly
created money. When it comes to the monetary there are several pros and cons that
come hand in hand. A few pros is that there is a small amount of inflation which is
good because it allows investment in the future and workers will expect higher
wages, also in using the monetary policy the banks can act quickly, even though the
currency weakens this can result In a boost in exports. That boost allows products to
be less expensive for foreigners to buy. However, there are many cons that outweigh
the pros. For example, tools such as increasing interest rates affect the economy as a
whole, not really considering the fact that only a part of the country needs the
stimulus. States with higher unemployment may need
Todays World
Marvels of Today s World.
In the past places and buildings were considered to be the 7 Wonders of the World,
each one is so different but all had one thing in common how unbelievable and
amazing they were. In today s world as well as geographical marvels there are grand
engineering projects that have opened up new possibilities and changed millions of
people s lives for the better. Technology, medical treatments, The Channel Tunnel
and Robotics are but a few of many that I would consider to be the marvels of today
s world. These wonders make our lives easier, more efficient and convenient. We can
t imagine our lives today without telephones, televisions, emails, cars, planes,
computers, space rockets etc. London is a city that ... Show more content on

Hopefully they won t completely overtake the role of mankind!
Another marvel of the world is medical technology in my opinion. We now have
the technology to provide people that have missing limbs with fake ones so that
they can continue on living their lives and enjoy it. This is just incredible. Many
infectious diseases such as Chicken Pox, Malaria, Measles and Tuberculosis have
been conquered through vaccines, antibiotics, and improved living conditions.
Cancer has become a more common illness, but treatments have been developed
that effectively combat some forms of the disease .We also have the technology to
control abnormal heart rhythms with the use of a pacemaker. I think pacemakers
are absolutely fantastic, such a clever idea. Pacemakers have prolonged people
with heart conditions life span and made life easier for them to live. The way a
little camera can be inserted into the body to look at problems/diseases,
completely puts me in awe. Also heart and lung transplants are one of the marvels
of today s world. This again saves people s lives. The way that a team of doctors
and nurses are able to take out a patient s heart or lung and put in a new one so that
they can live is truly a marvel. Medical technology is just phenomenal and
unbelievable. Through technology, millions of lives have been saved and improved
dramatically. This is why I d consider it to be one of the marvels of today s world.

Comparing Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz And Guildenstern

We as individuals most certainly believe that we have the ability to choose whatever
we desire. It is in our power to decide between good and bad.We as human beings are
more fortunate than other species with this ability. There are no obligations in our
decisions, it is entirely up to us.Philosophers and psychologist call this ability, Free
Will.
On the other hand, most humans understand the fact that everything happens for a
reason, every action has a reaction and the world runs on cause and effect. The leaf
on the tree falls because the wind blow. This philosophical position [1] is called
Determinism.
A great example of these two features in human lives are amazingly shown in Tom
Stoppard s play and movie, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern are Dead in 1966.

But not working is also a decision we make which has consequences.
Fatalism can also be seen in the character Claudius, the new king of Denmark, Hamlet
s uncle who killed his own brother.
Mortality is of course in everyone s fate but the way you die is what differs you
from others. It is inking s fate to be killed by Hamlet. The ghost of his brother gives
the mission to Hamlet and when he realizes that Hamlet has come for him, he
decides to send Hamlet to England, where he will be executed but since fatalism is
much stronger than that Hamlet will not die in England and he will return to Denmark.
The king tries much time to kill Hamlet, he turned his friends against him, killed his
father, later on, kills his mother as well but nothing will change his fate, every
decision he makes is another step towards his mortality. With every his every decision,
Hamlet gets more and more enthusiastic to kill him.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are also stuck in fatalism. With every decision, they get
more close to their fate which is their

Muhammad Ali Research Paper
The famous historical person I decided to write my research paper on is Cassius
Marcellus Clay, also known as Muhammad Ali. Born in Louisville, Kentucky
Muhammad Ali was one of the most polarizing figures in history especially as a
professional boxer. Muhammad Ali was important to history for many reasons but
three specific reasons, his defiance, his influence, and ultimately his skill.
Muhammad Alihad the ability to create a reaction with his words, and action in
ways that was never seen before. For this very reason he was the most important
sports figure during his time not only for what he did in the ring but also for what he
did outside of the ring .
To begin, Muhammad Ali was one of the most defiant individuals to ever become a
celebrity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Muhammad s confidence in his ability to defeat his opponent was so great that he
would even go as far as to call out the round that he was going to defeat his
opponent in. This was never more evident than when he said Liston is great but he
will fall in eight. referring to his bout with heavy weight champion, at the time,
Sonny Liston. Ironically this is exactly what happened, Liston was not able to come
out of his corner and Muhammad Ali ultimately won the fight in the eighth round.
Muhammad Ali s combination of defense, speed, and quickness has by many
standards made him the greatest fighter of all times. He was so fast that he would
often have people try to swing and hit him just for recreation and he would dodge
their punches
Outsiders In The Outsider
The Outsiders An outsider is defined as a person who does not belong to a
particular group. In the book, The Outsiders, many of the characters can be
described as being an outcast from the social society. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Cherry
are outsiders in this novel because none of them really fit into the groups that they
re supposed to be in. In this novel, Ponyboy Curtis is an outsider from society and
his gang. He feels as if he is an outsider from society because he is a part of the
social class named The Greasers. The Greasers are the hoodlums and freaks of the
town. One quote that supports this theory is, It s okay...we aren t in the same social
class. Just don t forget that some of us watch the sunset too. Pony says this to Cherry

Even in his own home, he doesn t feel right. A quote about him from page twelve
that shows this is, His father is always beating him up, and his mother ignored him,
except when she was hacked up at something... Both Johnny s mother and father
abuse him. His mother makes sure he knows that he isn t wanted, and Johnny s
father likes to use him as a punching bag. He is also seen as an outsider in the
Greasers. On page twelve, he is described as, Johnny Cade was last and least... and
He had a nervous, suspicious look in his eyes. This means that out of all the
Greasers, Johnny Cade is the smallest, most cautious, and most of all, afraid. With
the title The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton is trying to say that everyone feels like an
outsider in their own way, no matter what you see on the outsider. In using this title,
Hinton is referring to many different characters, but for the most part she is talking
about Ponyboy and how he feels. When the readers read this book, she wants them
to remember that you re not alone, and that everyone feels like an outsider in their
own way at some point. Many characters in this book feel as though they are alone,
when all of them are self conscious and afraid of
Cow Argumentative Essay
Cows are animals that are used to extract many things, since clothes to food. More
than 9.3 million cows were used to produce milk in the United States in 2008, and
more than 2.5 million dairy cows were slaughtered for meat. In the farms cows are
forced to give birth to collect the milk because the first milk is the best, because male
calves will not grow up to produce milk, they are considered of little value to the

Every day, millions of farm animals are being slaughtered inhumanely by farm

The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test
From what does the self originate? For ages, humans have pondered the nature of
their personalities. Several theories have been presented over the years, One implies
that a person s traits are determined at birth and that one s personality may be
ingrained into their very DNA; while another sates that the environment in which the
subject is in affects their characteristics far more than any deep seated traits. This
question, as well as many others, are topics that are brought to exhibition in Tom
Wolfe s book The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test

Upon Kesey s return to California, he is greeted in high regard as he is being seen

Domestic Violence And Its Effects On Society
Domestic violence can be described as authority misused by one person in a
relationship to control the other. It is the establishment of fear and control in one s
relationship through violence and other forms of abuse. Domestic violence can be in
a form of physical assault, sexual assault, social abuse, psychological abuse, and
financial abuse. The occurrence of the violencecan be sometimes on and off,
occasional or long lasting. Many may confuse the term domestic violenceas a simple

Wife beating was similar to rape or abortion back then, it was viewed as a private
and shameful act, that s why only a few women discussed their issue.
Men hit women with immunity until feminist activists renamed wife beating as
domestic violence, and described its victims as battered women. Many women
searched for help all around, they needed protection. Activists created a system of
shelters for women who tried to escape, often with their children, because the
violence threatened by their spouse.
Congressional passage of violence against women act was ultimately spurred on by
decades of growing unease over the rising violent crime rate and a focus on women as
crime victims. Beginning in the 1960s, the violent crime rate rose steadily, igniting
concern from both the public and the federal government. Supplementing the concern
for the nation s rising violent crime rate was the concern for violence against women.
In the 1970s, grassroots organizations began to stress the need for attitudinal change
regarding violence against women. These organizations sought a change in attitude
among both the public as well as the law enforcement community.
During the 1970 s, feminists tried to reach out and teach women that violence was
wrong and that they had the right to be free from it. We will not be beaten became

How ATVs Work Essay
Thesis statement: All terrain vehicles are helpful and useful and I will explain how
they work and how to fix them in this paper.
Outline: Inn this paper I will discuss ATV s and general knowledge and getting
them wet. I also will discuss their origin and how they need care and how to keep
them doing good for a long time.
What is an ATV? It is an All Terrain Vehicle, also called three or four wheelers. It is
also called a quad or ATV. An ATV is built to go where other vehicles
cannot go. ATV
s are also built to handle a lot of stress and abuse. ATV s are virtually indestructible;
however, they have a few weaknesses and it is important to know and understand
those few weaknesses. You should always do a... Show more content on

The compression then stroke follows, and the charge is ignited when the piston
reaches the end of this stroke. The piston then moves outward on the power stroke,
uncovering the exhaust port and permitting the gases to escape from the
combustion chamber.1 The four stroke model has four strokes instead of two. The
strokes are Intake, into which a mixture of gas and air are pulled into the cylinder.
Second, Compression, where the piston moves up and the gases are compressed.
The Third is power in which the spark plug fires and ignites the compressed gases,

The Main Objective Of Labour Law
The main objective of labour law as we know see today is based on the notion of
securing justice for employees, founded on the assumption that an imbalance of
power exists in regards to the employment relationship. As we see the increasing
establishment of profit maximising enterprises expanding themselves on a global
scale, those who hold managerial positions are becoming somewhat more inclined
to use their new found power in a way which houses the potential to exploit
employees who are seen to have less of an influence in comparison to the company
which they work for . It is for this reason that the employment relationship between
two parties ought to be properly regulated to ensure companies do not take advantage
of their employees, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Restrictions have been placed on employers which prevents them from terminating an
employee without sufficient cause, but conversely, an employee is generally under
no obligation to continue employment with a company against their wishes. In this
sense, whilst it may at first seem that an employee in this sense has some power over
their employer, it is important to note that restrictions preventing resignation (against
the interests of an individual) would more than likely oblige an employee to cease
working to their full potential, thus affecting the operation of a company and
subsequent maximisation of profits. Apart from legislation, the law of contracts plays
an important part in assessing the rights and obligations of parties to the relationship.
An employment contract ensures that the behaviour of an employer and an employee
has constraints in place to prevent one party from taking advantage of the other, and
vice versa. These contracts need to be maintained on a regular basis so they are an
accurate reflection of what the parties expect from one another in terms of conduct.
They serve an important purpose in the sense that they can demonstrate whether
certain conditions (eg: if the employee is being paid
Why is it Important to Create an Inclusive Learning...
Creating an inclusive learning environment is an extremely important aspect of
modern education, which, according to Gravells (2008: p18), ensures that [...] all
learners are entitled to be treated with respect and dignity. Everyone is an individual,
with different experiences, abilities and needs. She also offers a brief explanation of
inclusivity (2008: p18), which is [...] involving all learners in relevant activities rather
than excluding them for any reason directly or indirectly. Inclusion has also been
defined by John Tomlinson (1996: p26) as the greatest degree of match or fit between
individual learning requirements and provision . In the other words, inclusive
learning environment nurtures individual potential of all learners,... Show more

The main objective of differentiation is to promote inclusive learning environment,
by identifying and addressing the individual needs of all learners and working
towards removing any barriers they may have. The most effective method of
differentiating is to ensure that resources and assessment methods, as well as
teaching and learning approaches meet individual learner needs. According to
Francis and Gould (2013) setting a single objective for a whole group will not be
appropriate for all learners, due to the diversity of the group, therefore, as Gravells
(2008) suggests we must identify the learning needs, styles, aspirations and potential
of our learners. At this very stage, any barriers and boundaries should be identified,
so the teaching and learning approaches, assessment methods and resources can be
planned accordingly. When setting up an inclusive learning environment we need to
focus on individual differences. Francis and Gould (2013: p65) explain, that it is
important to recognise the differences in the learners we teach, as these influence
how we interact with them. Francis and Gould (2013) list few typical differences,
like age, physical disability, mental health issues, ethnicity, etc. Our first step to
identify the individual learning style of the learners (ergo to identify their needs), is
performing VAK (visual, aural, kinaesthetic) assessment. Francis and Gould (2013)

The Chicago School Of Architecture
The Chicago School of Architecture was developed by William Le Baron Jenney
between the years of 1879 1910. It is usually known as the term Chicago School for
its skyscraper architecture (Chicago School of Architecture 2). Not only did Jenney
help develop the school, but other American architects as well like William Holabird,
Louis Sullivan, Martin Roche, and others as well. There were two schools made
during this period The First Chicago School of Architecture and The Second
Chicago School of Architecture. The second school centered around the European
Modernism. Three factors that contributed to the Chicago School of Architecture
where the rapid need to build buildings to serve the industrial society, the
development of construction using steel, and the strong desire to create a modern
style. To begin with, after the fire of 1871, Chicago became a dense population,
area and the value of the state lived up. By 1890, Chicago had more than one
million people and had surpassed Philadelphia population and became second
biggest city in the United States (Lowe 1). People started to travel over to Chicago
and started to settle there. The more people traveling to Chicago meant that they
would have to build more buildings both commercial and property. The problem was
that Chicago stood in a deluge, and then it was hard to build homes using the
techniques they knew. They knew how to build structures using the traditional walls
of brick and stone, but was not capable to stay up
Novel Windflower- Western and Eskimo Culture
In the novel the WINDFLOWER, there is a presence of two different cultures the
western culture and the Eskimo culture. In history, we as the readers know that
aboriginals were cruelly treated and the western people tried to assimilate their
culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to portray a part of the
Eskimos in the novel, WINDFLOWER, as assimilated to create conflict with minor
characters. The more notable characters that have been shown to defy the western
cultures was only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown
to believe that the western culturewas the more dominant belief. The effect this had
was that the interactions shown with the minor characters and Elsa. To touch on how
the Eskimos thought that the white culturewas superior and many had already
assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed
how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6,
the author writes, Nowadays they wore short dresses of flowered cotton, over
which floated sweaters as shapeless as sacks , The effect of something as petty as
clothing may not seem like much but it contains a larger effect than one would
expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not present
the Eskimos would have been perfectly content with what they had parkas and pretty
sealskin boots of former times (Pg 6). This can infer that the Eskimos already had a
mindset of the western
Mahatma Gandhi Influence

words that come up to describe them are peace and terrorism. Ghandi and bin

people all over the world. These two men both had set goals and fought greatly to
achieve them. With the impact these men made, they were powerful leaders in

they believed was right, Mahatma and Osama both influenced a great number people.

Basketball Needs to Be Fixed
Professional and college basketball have become very popular in the hearts and
minds of many Americans. Millions of dollars a year are spent on apparel, tickets,
and television all generated by people s love for basketball.
But in the last couple of years, both the National Basketball Association (NBA) and
college basketball have lost a substantial amount of their competition and have
caught much criticizim for it. At the heart of this problem is a single cause, greed.
The game of basketball has become all about money instead of the game and its

College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players
decide to go pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the
overall talent level of the league is lowered drastically. Games become less
interesting because the players are not as talented. This in turn hurts the television
networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not know who
the players are.
And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks
will not pay as much to televise the games as they once did.
The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early
hoping to make the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live
in today, if you do not have a college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the
statistics, 60 players are drafted each year, and there are only 360 roster spots in
the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will make the team is almost
an impossibility. Some people go back to school and try to finish their degrees, but
most do not because once you give up your eligibility, you cannot get it back, with
means most of them cannot afford to go back to school. This leaves a lot of people
out of work and with no degree. By keeping the college players in school, most will

What Is The Theme Of Honour In Othello
Discussing Shakespeare has always been an inspiring issue. But dealing with the
issue of honour in his works is even a more challenging matter. The aim of this thesis
is to prove that honour has been treated in Shakespeare tragedies as a key point
which leads into his tragedies. Even though it is dealt with it under dissimilar names,
the consequences are the same. In three of his tragedies Hamlet, Othelloand Romeo
and Juliet honouris displayed as a main theme and at the same time as a driving
force, usually for the worse. Honour has been analysed as the same problem but with
different features. All the main characters of these tragedises kill in the name of
honour. nonetheless Hamlet kills to avenge his father`s death, Othello kills to purify...

In this thesis, there will be dealt with honour in three of Shakespeare s tragedies:
Hamlet, Othello and Romeo and Juliet. The aim of this thesis is to deal with
honour not as a positive contributor but as a destructive element. Because in the
three tragedies we will analyse honour has been the triger towards vengeance. In
the writing of this thesis consulting many Shakespearean scholars has been
necessary and vital. One of the main ones is Harold Bloom. Bloom has a deep
appreciation for Shakespeare (Bloom 1994, pp. 2 3) and considers him to be the
supreme center of the Western Canon. (Bloom 1994, pp. 24 5). He has written
numeral works regarding different aspects of Shakespeare as a playwright. In 1998
Bloom conducted a survey named Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human. In
this survey Bloom provides a detailed analysis of each of Shakespeare s 38 plays,
twenty four of which are masterpieces. (Bloom, 1998). Since it is written as a
companion to the general reader and theatergoer, Bloom states that bardolatry ought
to be even more a secular religion than it already is. (Bloom,

The movie The King s Speech is about Prince Albert, Duke of York, who later
becomes King George VI. The story focuses on the treatment of his speech
impediment, a stammer, and the friendship he develops with his speech therapist,
Lionel Logue. Throughout Prince Albert s, or Bertie s, treatment he unexpectedly
finds himself on the throne. Bertie s wife, Elizabeth, is another important character,
who stands by his side through it all. It is a heartwarming story about friendship,

the authenticity and certification of Lionel is brought up, it momentarily changes
Bertie s perception of him, it lowers with this new knowledge. Furthermore, it

improve his stammer. At one point he even angrily leaves one of his sessions with

his self perception. The more treatments Bertie receives the more his self

However, the supervisor informed the team that the institution does not have enough

After the meeting, the supervisor went to the financial and budgetary department to

Essay Muslim Women
Muslim Women
When I chose the topic of Americanization of immigrant Muslim women, I think I
expected a straightforward, easy to categorize, research project. On the contrary,
what I found was surprisingly different. While I think of myself as a liberal, open
minded female, this project gave me a very new perspective on myself and many of
my views as well. Muslim women living in the United States are quite honestly more
diverse, more complex, more structured, more contemplative, and more culturally
intuitive than I could have ever imagined in my limited experience and knowledge of
them. The Americanization I sought to illustrate turned out to resemble something
closer to a religio cultural tug of war than the predicted homogeneous ... Show more

When confronted with the awkwardness of transplantation from Middle Eastern to
American culture, the women of small Muslim communities and regions are often
comforted by the feeling of solidarity generated in the sharing of communal values of
their homelands.2 The problems, however, that arise within these communities
because of more orthodox belief and practice are numerous.
The continued promotion of an orthodox value system seems to be the root of the
thwarted prosperity of these small Muslim communities. Men, traditionally the
providers, have taken the majority seat of auto factory jobs in Dearborn, MI, but are
therefore at the whim of the plant (Ford Motor, in this particular case). When it
moves, the whole Muslim community must move with it to ensure future
employment. Women are often not allowed to work outside of the home, and in
times of recession, money is scarce, and usually welfare is the only answer. The
issue of discrimination against Muslim welfare recipients by U.S. social workers is a
topic that could probably take the rest of this paper, so I will limit my comments. The
main point I want to stress on this issue is that the tension produced by the
commitment to even this one Muslim fundamentalist practice is noteworthy. Women
in these situations can be

77 elephants were examined at a British zoo, and only 11 of them were able to
walk correctly. It is said that advancements are being made to improve elephant
environments in captivity, but numerous zoos have shut down their elephant
attractions (Smith, 2008). Many people are attracted to keeping wild animals as
pets. They believe the wild animals to be interesting and exciting. At a young age,
the animals may seem easier to tame, but the older these animals get, the more
aggressive they tend to become. Many problems can develop from keeping a wild
animal as a pet. Wild animals have specific needs that have to be met, in order for
them to prosper. Only the most exceptional zoos and wildlife centers provide a
living area that somewhat resembles the natural habitat of these animals, but it is
virtually impossible to provide sufficient space for larger species (CFHS). In
captivity animals do not lose their wild instincts. They can be extremely
unpredictable, and if provoked they can cause severe harm to people. Some wild
animals, such as reptiles and hedgehogs can actually carry bacteria called
salmonella, which is very easily transmitted to humans. Exotic animals can be very
social, and need to have a companion of the same species living with them. If the
animal is kept isolated from its kind, then it can suffer psychologically (CFHS).
Many wild animals that are kept as pets often get abandoned because the owner was
not able to meet of its needs. Others try to

have discovered that the differences in the growth of the heart and how diseases
develop vary in males and females. Although both genders have many of the same
risk factors, such as obesity, cigarette smoking, hypertension, and metabolic
syndrome. Females are more likely to develop heartdisease from elevated blood
pressure due to menopause, having an autoimmune disease, or stress and depression.
(Group, 2017) The left ventricle gets smaller with age in both genders, but in males
the heart muscle that surrounds the chamber grows bigger and thicker. Often,
medications that are designed to reduce the thickness of the heart muscle are

Why Was Mexico So Much Poorer Than The United States
Why was Mexico so much poorer than the United States in the 1980s? Most
economists would answer this question by pointing to Mexico s boom and bust
cycles, and the United States pattern of relatively stable growth. These cycles occur
in Mexico because of political instability and the fluctuation of capital availability.
This answer is not wrong, but it is incomplete. Behind economicsand politics,
geography looms, tying political science and economics together. Geography, more
than any other factor, explains why the United Statesin the 1980s was so rich and
Mexicowas so poor. The United States and Mexico together take up the majority of
the habitable lands of North America. In 1763, the Viceroyalty of New Spain

The income disparity between them and the core then causes insurrections to
arise. This makes the maintenance of a professional standing army of a fairly
substantial size necessary. It also means that in times of political instability in the
center, the areas around the core tend to either break away temporarily (best case
scenario) or become staging points for assaults on the core (worst case scenario).
The second weakness of the core lies in its elevation. As a result of its elevation, it
is difficult for Mexico to economically integrate with the rest of the world or even
to create internal economies of scale that connect the core to the surrounding
states. For example, it was not until 1877 that the first rail line between Mexico
City and its main port of Veracruz was completed. This means that, although the
Mexico City core will always be heavily populated, it is incapable of generating
large sums of capital. To the north, across the Chihuahua, Sonora, and Baja deserts,
sit the fertile, capital rich lands of Louisiana, California, and East Texas. Of these,
Louisiana is the most promising, as it is the single most valuable piece of territory
on the planet. Part of what makes it so valuable is the rain shadow effect created by
the Rocky Mountains that separate
Positive Discipline Enhances Lives Essay
The topic of positive discipline is one of great importance especially so in the
world of athletics. Often time the term discipline is misconstrued by parents, player
and unfortunately some coaches. Parents may associate the term as their player
being subject to harsh treatment; while athletes my see it as restrictive and
punishing, sadly to say some coaches validate both the parents and the athletes
view of discipline. Many older or seasoned coaches hold to the concept that
discipline simply apply to the performance of all play properly, the athlete focusing
solely on the sport they are participating and striving to win every game. Failure to
live up to the coaches expectations could result in extreme practices or the like and

The truth is positive discipline goes well beyond simply providing instructions and
enforcing punishment when those instructions are not followed to the letter.
Instructing athletes on the ins and outs of their chosen sport is pointless if a coach
does not train them how to implement or use the instructed task. Great coaches
never assume previous coaches that their athletes may have played for, properly
trained and instructed them as they should have. One thing my wife always told
me when it came to our boys was You can t expect them to know it if you have
never taught and shown them how to do it. Coaches teach, emulate and instill; self
respect, self discipline, courtesy, giving community involvement, pride, dignity and
respect of others. In recent years as the media blows up certain sport the
occurrence of athlete misconduct in those sports appears to have grown rapidly.
Misconduct places a negative stigmatism on the entire organization, not just the
player. More often than not negative behavior on the field of play can be traced
back to behavior displayed in practice and other games. Athletes can sense when
they are just a body on the field or when they are the go to person. Both of the fore
mentioned situations, could very well leave a player feeling pitiful or privileged.
Coaches are responsible for teaching athletes how to function as a team and not as
individuals; this cannot be accomplished if the coach shows favoritism or lead them
to believe they are less
Abortion, A Doctor s Referral Is Not Necessary

Quebec is effectively hoping to contract a doctor to do third term abortion, however

the story. This old lady has a very vengeful, irrational yet stubborn and clever

philosophical questions. He believes God has ordered him to investigate if human
wisdom is worthless. (Pg 27, 23b). Socrates begins his investigation after the Oracle
of Delphi claimed that no one was wiser than Socrates. (Pg 26, 21 a b).
At first, Socrates was confused by the claim. Socrates says that he is very
conscious that he is not wise at all. (Pg 26, 21b). He reluctantly began investigating
what the Oracle meant by this grand claim. (Pg 26, 21b) Socrates believes what the
Oracle actually meant when he said that no one was wiser than Socrates, is that
human wisdom is worth little or nothing and he uses his name as an example. (Pg 27,
23 b). When examining the quote, This man among you, mortals, is wisest who, like
Socrates, understands that his wisdom is worthless. (Pg 27, 23b) one may possibly
reach the conclusion that anyone can be the wisest if they understand their wisdom is
worthless.
The investigation began reluctantly, as was aforementioned, ... Show more content on

Additionally, Socrates wants to put his trust in the justice of what he says and he
does not want the people of Athens to expect to anything else. (Pg 22, 17b c). Later
on, Socrates mentions how he could have used appeals to emotion, instead of logic
and honesty, to convince the people of Athens that he was innocent but he did not
because he respects them. (Pg 38, 34c e). Following this line of logic, then one could
suppose that Socrates, in fact, did believe what the Oracle had said was true.
Therefore, it should be understood that Socrates believed that his investigation was
due to Oracles claim. Furthermore, one should not infer that Socrates was searching
for the meaning of human wisdom from his

Critically assess the view that the word good has no real meaning (35 marks) Meta
ethics looks at ethical language and helps us to identify whether the word good is
meaningful. Analytical statements are sentences that are true because of the
relationship between the subject and the predicate. Analytical statements are usually
self explanatory, e.g. all carnivores eat meat; we know what a carnivore eats which is
meat, the subject is the carnivore and the predicate here is the meat. Analytical
statements are logic based, they tell us about language but little meaningful
information about the world. Also no additional meaning or knowledge is contained
in the predicate that is not already given in the subject. Synthetic sentences may or...

Its power does not lie simply in how others respond to it. If ethical clams were
contingent on emotions, they would change as emotions changed. They cannot be
universal claims as the emotions of the speakers would vary. Even when moral
statements are carried by a weight of public emotion, that does not provide reason
for them to be adopted, nor does it make them right. Emotivism effectively
prescribes complete freedom of action on the basis that everyone s opinion is
equally valid and everyone is therefore free to do what they choose irrespective of
the opinion of others. How can we judge between two people s moral opinions?
What criteria is there if any for judging the relative merits of a moral viewpoint.
Emotions can unite people in a common moral bond, but can also isolate groups and
individuals. The emotional force with which a moral view is expressed is no
recommendation of its value. Whereas prescriptivism is the belief that ethical
statements are not only expressions of emotion, but intrinsically prescriptive, as they
imply what ought to be done and that it is universal. The Prescriptivism approach
would be the projection of your own emotion on other people. An example of this
would be that I think that recreational drug use is wrong and so should you. This
statement suggests that not only I think recreational drug use is wrong, but I think
that you should adopt my opinion to. Strengths of prescriptivism are
Proposed Socio Spatial Network Models And Compare

In this section we present our computational results of the properties of the
proposed socio spatial network models and compare them with those of ER, SW,
and BA networks when it is appropriate. More specifically, we measure clustering
coefficient, network density, average path length, assortativity, transitivity, and
min, max, mean, and standard deviation degree. While several algorithms have
been proposed for some of these measures, for simplicity of reproducing the results,
we use the algorithms that have been implemented in the Python s Networkx
library. All results are averaged over 25 independent model runs with different
random seeds. It should be noted that in all analysis in this study we only consider
undirected networks. Moreover, since the focus of this study is on the human
social network, we limit our analysis to Onnela et al s (2011) findings that α ≈
1.5 and only consider three values of О± = 1.2, 1.5, and 2 for our sensitivity
analysis purposes. 4 1 Properties of the Spatial Erdös Rényi Network In this
subsection we compute and report the characteristics of our proposed SER social
network in terms of empirical regularity measures. ER and SER networks have
different parameters, so pairwise comparisons are not possible. However, computing
and comparing their network properties can provide valuable insights about their
behavior under considered parameter settings. Here we report network properties for
three different values of connection probability p in the ER
Sam Mendes Use Of Satire In American Beauty
Sam Mendes, the author of the critically acclaimed film American Beauty mocks the
suburban lifestyle through the medium of satire. His work won over the vast
audiences hearts, time and well earned cash as his film grossed 356 million U.S
dollars at the box office. American Beauty exposes the artificial identities that are
subject to every aspect of suburban life and the diminishing artificial happiness that is
created by the pursuit of the American lifestyle. Bluntly Lester defies all the suburban
lifestyle guide and ultimately reaches true happiness which is presented as the moral
alternative. Although critics and other analyzers of Sam Mendespiece over stride
attempting to find a deeper meaning regarding sexuality which truly is a part... Show

Sam Mendes began his early career at Chichester Festival Theatre after graduating
from Cambridge (Craine). His involvement in the theater scene is definitely displayed
through his very particular and almost genius placement of details throughout
American Beauty. Theater sets require and contain detailed and intended
placements characters, props and visuals all to amplify the meaning and
experience for the live audience and evidently Mendes did carry this aspect to his
directing of the movie. Sam moved onto to directing other pieces and making a
name for himself doing so; one piece he gained acclaim from the critics was Anton
Chekhov s Cherry Orchard a comedy or often perceived farce (Britannica). Exposure
to comedy/farce type piece undoubtably influenced his satirical film since satire does
very much contain components of farce and comedy. American Beauty itself is
often perceived as a comedy as it does mock the suburban life, even Lester s actions
are often perceived as farce as they are often received as teenage buffoonery. Mendes
additional dealt with Shakespeare plays which are famously known for their irony
filled drama content. Garnered fame from many successfully directed pieces by

director Steven Spielberg. Mendes using his acquired skills from his past experiences
Analysis Of The Movie The Battle Algiers
The four films that we have watched are all centered around the theme that Africa
has more than just a single story . Africa is full of diverse people from all kinds of
backgrounds. While the Battle of Algiers, Sembene!, Welcome to Nollywood, and
Timbuktu have shown many different stories, they have just barely scratched the
surface of the millions of single stories that can be found in Africa. The Battle Algiers
tells the story of the French and the Algerian National Liberation Front during the
Algerian Revolution. It covers both sides of the Revolution that eventually began the
movement against the French Colonial rule in Algeria. Sembene! tells of the life of
Ousmane Sembene and his journey from ordinary man to father of the Africancinema
. This filmtalks about some of the different films he has made and why he continues
to make films. Welcome to Nollywood follows three of the directors in the
Nigerian film industry and talks about not only the film industry as a whole but of
the effect it has on west Africa. Timbuktu tells the story of many different people all
effected by the Jihadists in some way. The Battle of Algiers and Timbuktu tell actual
historical stories while Sembene! And Welcome to Nollywood are documentaries
that talk about specific directors and the stories they aim to tell. These films all
speak to each other in numerous ways. I will be focusing on Sembene! and Welcome
to Nollywood because they are both documentaries that tell the stories of
Pursuing My Personal Goals

and debate tournaments. The flexibility in my schedule has allowed me to travel to
pursue my goals. My parents have allowed me to maximize on my experiences

political campaigns around the country. I have campaigned in Florida, Virginia,
Louisiana, South Carolina and my home state of Georgia. A lot of the campaigns I

A Thesis On Modernism

Modern Thesis Paper
During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, changes in the dynamics of society
caused intellectuals to question the traditions of everyday life. From religious views
to the arts of literature, traditional values and forms were rejected, thus defining a
line between the two time periods, which can be considered as the start of the
Modern era. Also known as Modernism, the modern era used literature as an outlet
for expressing the thoughts and feelings of the time. Modern texts use city life,
industrialization and globalization, and ironic and satirical themes to showcase their
bleak outlook on life post both world wars. The nature of these events are aspects of

The mistrust of the world which is at the center of modernism can be attributed to
the world wars and the psychological effect that it had on the individual. The
horrors and violence altered public perceptions of life, a change that is evident
within writers of the time period. The focus of writing shifted from the outward
world to inner thoughts and feelings and overall representation of an individual s
stream of consciousness which are themes associated with modern text. In Impact
of Modernism , focuses on the idea that world needed new outlets for expression
and in finding them rejected the tradition that was already there with the quote,
Many modernists believed that by rejecting tradition they could discover radically
new ways of making art. (Impact) .The world no longer had the beauty it once did
so a a discovery of new arts were needed. The mind of an individual became that new

Feminist Ultrasound
Although it has been proven that ultrasound is a safe modality there are still issues
that sonographers encounter on the daily basis. There is the need for a chaperone
for certain procedures and especially if it is done by a male sonographer. According
to goggle dictionary a chaperone is a person who accompanies and looks after another
person or group of people. DMHC (Dartmouth Hitchcock medical center hospital)
Department of Radiology states on their policy that intracavitary, transperineal and
breast ultrasoundexaminations done to female patients may be performed by a male
sonographeronly in the presence of a female chaperone.
The free diccionary.com defined the term intracavitary as within an organ or a cavity.

In addition, some patients may have a clear preference for a health care of
provider of a specific gender due to their ethnic, religious or cultural background,
because of previous experiences or in view of their age. When possible such
individual needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, such as in the
case of breast ultrasounds. When conducting an intimate and/or invasive
examination, the male sonographer should request a chaperone to assist during
the entire procedure. Chaperones should normally be members of the clinical
team who are sufficiently familiar with the ultrasound examination being carried
out. This is to ensure they are able to reliably judge whether the sonographer s
actions are professionally appropriate and justifiable. After asking some male
sonographers if they perform breast ultrasounds, I was told that the hospital prefers
female sonographers to perform this type of exams. Only in the case where there
is a need for the male sonographer a chaperone needs to be present during the
whole procedure. Hospitals have the responsibility to provide their employees with
a chaperone. DHMC have established that the responsibility for securing chaperone
services must be 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Yet there are no cases
reported in which male sonographers have been accused of invading patient privacy
or behaving unprofessionally while performing a breast

  • 3. The Knowledge That The Laputians Possess May The knowledge that the Laputians possess may also reflect some symbolism towards the saying of ignorance is bliss. If one does not know about something, they tend to not worry about, but the Laputians know so much with their abstract theories of math and science that they are under continual disquietudes (Swift 2577). The knowledge they have also makes it very apparent that they never take the time to enjoy themselves as they fear the end of Earth constantly and when they meet an acquaintance in the morning, the first question is about the sun s health...and what hopes they have to avoid the stroke of the approaching comet (Swift 2577 78). They worry so much that their conversations are their worries which is very sad. Another sad thing is the men of Laputa do not even spend their time with their wives which makes it all the more easy for affairs to arise. The women of Laputa are free to do as they please, but they are unable to leave the island as the people of quality have found by frequent experience, how hard it is to persuade their women to return from below (Swift 2578). As unfaithful as they are, the women still attempt to leave. It almost seems like the knowledge the Laputians have is so powerful that it was able to make their wives unfaithful. The impracticalness of the Laputians become more evident with Gulliver s observations and discoveries. Gulliver is given tutors by the Laputian King to teach him their language; however, he finds that the words he

The face that is the best part of a horse, with it s dark, caring eyes waiting to know what you are about to do, and it s mouth that munches on sweet treats and hay. The bridle leading to my hands, the horn, and the front of the Western saddle were also in the beautiful sight in front of me. I think you are ready to trot, the instructor said. All the sudden my almost empty mind flooded with thoughts. Were we ready? What does trotting feel like? Will I be able to get Sysco to trot? My mind flashed back to a scary moment. A family friend had two horses, but they were not trained too much. I was riding off a lead line for the first time, and we were just going around their big house. I was riding Jesse, a coal black coated horse. I was about to finish a circle when Jesse started going faster. He started trotting. It was only a few moments, but the trot felt as fast as American Pharoah, the Triple crown race horse, and as bouncy as popcorn popping in a pan. The trot was something I wanted to do on purpose, not suddenly. My horse stood at the arena wall, watching as the instructor showed us how to trot. You go into a walk, the squeeze your legs until the horse trots, she explained. It is just like getting into a walk, just starting a gait faster. I watched as the first person of the group went. Her horse looked beautiful as it trotted. There is just something about horses when the move, with their gleaming silky tails flowing out behind them, their body moving with a

She therefore succeeded not because of a capitalist goal, which is profit. What she did was she thought of ways to survive in the market. She did not dream of a big shop. The shop eventually

Taking a closer look at the policies individually, the fiscal policy seems to have a bigger role in regulating the economy. In this sense, whilst it may at first seem that an employee in this sense has some power over their employer, it is important to note that restrictions preventing resignation (against the interests of an individual) would more than likely oblige an employee to cease working to their full potential, thus affecting the operation of a company and subsequent maximisation of profits. Apart from legislation, the law of contracts plays an important part in assessing the rights and obligations of parties to the relationship. An employment contract ensures that the behaviour of an employer and an employee has constraints in place to prevent one party from taking advantage of the other, and vice versa. These contracts need to be maintained on a regular basis so they are an accurate reflection of what the parties expect from one another in terms of conduct. They serve an important purpose in the sense that they can demonstrate whether certain conditions (eg: if the employee is being paid
  • 23. Why is it Important to Create an Inclusive Learning... Creating an inclusive learning environment is an extremely important aspect of modern education, which, according to Gravells (2008: p18), ensures that [...] all learners are entitled to be treated with respect and dignity. Everyone is an individual, with different experiences, abilities and needs. She also offers a brief explanation of inclusivity (2008: p18), which is [...] involving all learners in relevant activities rather than excluding them for any reason directly or indirectly. Inclusion has also been defined by John Tomlinson (1996: p26) as the greatest degree of match or fit between individual learning requirements and provision . In the other words, inclusive learning environment nurtures individual potential of all learners,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main objective of differentiation is to promote inclusive learning environment, by identifying and addressing the individual needs of all learners and working towards removing any barriers they may have. The most effective method of differentiating is to ensure that resources and assessment methods, as well as teaching and learning approaches meet individual learner needs. According to Francis and Gould (2013) setting a single objective for a whole group will not be appropriate for all learners, due to the diversity of the group, therefore, as Gravells (2008) suggests we must identify the learning needs, styles, aspirations and potential of our learners. At this very stage, any barriers and boundaries should be identified, so the teaching and learning approaches, assessment methods and resources can be planned accordingly. When setting up an inclusive learning environment we need to focus on individual differences. Francis and Gould (2013: p65) explain, that it is important to recognise the differences in the learners we teach, as these influence how we interact with them. Francis and Gould (2013) list few typical differences, like age, physical disability, mental health issues, ethnicity, etc. Our first step to identify the individual learning style of the learners (ergo to identify their needs), is performing VAK (visual, aural, kinaesthetic) assessment. Francis and Gould (2013) describe it as a model of

It is usually known as the term Chicago School for its skyscraper architecture (Chicago School of Architecture 2). Not only did Jenney help develop the school, but other American architects as well like William Holabird, Louis Sullivan, Martin Roche, and others as well. There were two schools made during this period The First Chicago School of Architecture and The Second Chicago School of Architecture. The second school centered around the European Modernism. Three factors that contributed to the Chicago School of Architecture where the rapid need to build buildings to serve the industrial society, the development of construction using steel, and the strong desire to create a modern style. To begin with, after the fire of 1871, Chicago became a dense population, area and the value of the state lived up. By 1890, Chicago had more than one million people and had surpassed Philadelphia population and became second biggest city in the United States (Lowe 1). People started to travel over to Chicago and started to settle there. The more people traveling to Chicago meant that they would have to build more buildings both commercial and property. The problem was that Chicago stood in a deluge, and then it was hard to build homes using the techniques they knew. They knew how to build structures using the traditional walls of brick and stone, but was not capable to stay up

In history, we as the readers know that aboriginals were cruelly treated and the western people tried to assimilate their culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to portray a part of the Eskimos in the novel, WINDFLOWER, as assimilated to create conflict with minor characters. The more notable characters that have been shown to defy the western cultures was only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown to believe that the western culturewas the more dominant belief. The effect this had was that the interactions shown with the minor characters and Elsa. To touch on how the Eskimos thought that the white culturewas superior and many had already assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6, the author writes, Nowadays they wore short dresses of flowered cotton, over which floated sweaters as shapeless as sacks , The effect of something as petty as clothing may not seem like much but it contains a larger effect than one would expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not present the Eskimos would have been perfectly content with what they had parkas and pretty sealskin boots of former times (Pg 6). This can infer that the Eskimos already had a mindset of the western

At the heart of this problem is a single cause, greed. The game of basketball has become all about money instead of the game and its fans. College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players decide to go pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the overall talent level of the league is lowered drastically. Games become less interesting because the players are not as talented. This in turn hurts the television networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not know who the players are. And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks will not pay as much to televise the games as they once did. The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early hoping to make the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live in today, if you do not have a college degree, opportunities are limited. The continued promotion of an orthodox value system seems to be the root of the thwarted prosperity of these small Muslim communities. Men, traditionally the providers, have taken the majority seat of auto factory jobs in Dearborn, MI, but are therefore at the whim of the plant (Ford Motor, in this particular case). When it moves, the whole Muslim community must move with it to ensure future employment. Many people are attracted to keeping wild animals as pets. They believe the wild animals to be interesting and exciting. At a young age, the animals may seem easier to tame, but the older these animals get, the more aggressive they tend to become. Many problems can develop from keeping a wild animal as a pet. Wild animals have specific needs that have to be met, in order for them to prosper. Only the most exceptional zoos and wildlife centers provide a living area that somewhat resembles the natural habitat of these animals, but it is virtually impossible to provide sufficient space for larger species (CFHS).
