A Horse Life is a Life too When people think of horses, an image of them trotting free through

introduced and passed temporarily. The time is now to push for there passage permanently. Regulation
is needed due to the dangers horse slaughtering is bringing to not only every single horse but also the
people consuming the meat; temporary reinforcement is not sufficient enough.

There are other options available to any horse owner that decides to neglect and or abuse their horse.
Shelters are one of several options, they are placed all over the United States and will take in any and

Pride and Prejudice, a novel by Jane Austen published in 1813. It is, to this day, universally loved and
revered. A classic, one may say. This tells the story of the prejudice that occurred in the 19th century
and the pride which kept lovers apart. The lovers in this story are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
Elizabeth was a quick witted girl, but her wits took her to make quick judgments. Mr. Darcy was a
man born into wealth, with a strong ego. They, however, put their differences behind them. The
eighteenth century British novelist Laurence Sterne wrote, Nobody, but he who has felt it, can
conceive what a plaguing thing it is to have a man s mind torn asunder by two projects of equal
strength, both obstinately pulling in a contrary direction at the same time. This story proves this quote

did not want to conform to society, ever. So when Collins asks for Elizabeth s hand in marriage, she,
among the pressure from her family, promptly refused. To Elizabeth, Collins was foolish and

I love to snowmobile, and every day I go snowmobiling, I am at risk of becoming a victim of an
avalanche. I ask myself how can I be prepared and confident in the event of an avalanche? My paper
goes into depth on the physical properties and causes of an avalanche as well as the knowledge you
need to stay safe. My paper starts off with the question addressed and then some research that I have
done on the topic. Following that research, I move into the formal research section of the paper. The
research found includes different causes of avalanches, action steps to take, rescuing victims, trauma,
other winter sports safety, and where to find the best information about avalanches for beginning
learners. My paper finishes with my conclusion to about avalanches and my project. It then goes into
my future plans about avalanche research. There is more research to be done on avalanches and I plan
on using the information that I have found throughout the rest of my life.

The Crusades were indeed about power and politics, in terms of its motivations and consequences.
Political motivations were significant in shaping the Crusades, as evident from the rivalry for power
between the Christians and the Muslims, as well as internally within the Christian world, and the
launching of the Crusades by Pope Urban II who harbored political interests in establishing his
authority in the Christian world. However, it is wrong to say that the Crusades had nothing to do with
religion because whilst the political and power motivations to prevent the Muslims from gaining any

parties was religious feeling. Motivations for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The second Ku Klux Klan is the oldest domestic terrorist group. The Klan was a physical symbol of
racism and violence. The Klan took advantage of the common man, in a state of vulnerability and
turned them against their fellow brothers. The revival of the Ku Klux Klan beginning in the 1910s
occurred as a result of economic and cultural tensions in America. Because of an economic recession
following World War I, many farmers migrated to cities and competed with immigrants for jobs. These
newly arrived farmers held views at odds with others regarding enforcement of Prohibition and the
role of religion and women in America. As a result, many turned to the Ku Klux Klan to resolve these
competing tensions. Nathaniel Forrest was a General in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

9. Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization
Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization
While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of
2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic
institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a
textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of
the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments
of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. By
tracing the path from banana plantations to supermarket it becomes clear how the morals of capitalism

It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes
place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as
the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture
economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these
jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar
spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious
for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit
companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages
because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica
(STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not
pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of
being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without
cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working
twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk.

10. Amygdala Case Study
Hi Nancy,
I really enjoyed your take on this week s discussion post and how you approached it primarily from
the emotional and biological perspective. As you mentioned, any damage to amygdala can cause a
variety of symptoms, but primarily, the individual will experience an impaired ability to practice
and/or identify both fear and negative emotions. Individuals with traumatic brain injuries involving
the amygdala react differently to various stimuli, mainly due the numerous factors involved in the way
that the amygdala responds based on both the location and the level of brain damage sustained. In
some, conditions like Kluver Bucy Syndrome can appear, where the individual has trouble

For instance, in one study where the brain functioning of 41 murderers were evaluated, researchers
found that the amygdala had weaker activity in the left hemisphere of their brain than they did on their
right. In other words, poor functioning in some areas indicates an inability to learn from experience, as
well as an emotional load that outweighs the ability of the left hemisphere to regulate it (Ramsland,
K.M., 2005, p. 70). Damage to this area of the brain can obviously create behavioral manifestations as
well, including anger, rage, and inability to react properly to the surrounding environment. Also, in
other research noted by Berry Dee (2007), the limbic system can either reward or punish the brain and
if areas of the limbic system are damaged, such as the amygdala itself, and these individuals can also
exhibit indiscriminate sexual behaviors. I think the biggest piece of information I gained from this
week topic is that a variety of responses can come from injury to the amygdala, and given its ability to
disrupt recognition of certain emotional behaviors, there is certainly a concern that individuals can
either be a danger to themselves (by not being able to detect danger or emotions of others in their
environment) or by being a danger to others (as is the case with the findings associated with amygdala
dysfunctions in serial

11. The Theater Of The Absurd
The theatre of the absurd is a term formulated by Martin Esslin during the 1950s and 1960s.
Essentially, it is derived from Albert Camus, the French author, in his Myth of Sisyphus. The origins
of the absurd theatre are in the hard experiments in the art during the 1920s and 1930s. The absurd
drama is not determined to solve any problem on the modern stage. Absurd drama excludes language
as a resource for communication. Language has become meaningless exchanges. In fact, it fails to
reflect the importance of human experience; it is restricted to the surface meaning and never
penetrates beyond its depth. The language which is used in absurd drama is specifically
conventionalized speech, clichés and slogans that have become very common to many writers.
The critics conclude that life is basically meaningless and, later, miserable, with no hope because of
the unavoidable futility of man s exertions. In these dramas, realism is intolerable, so there are
illusions. There is no discernible plot. Conversations are repeated. In these dramas, there is no certain
purpose or reason because it does not solve any problem. The main theme in absurd drama is a failure
of communication and the mingling of comic and serious elements. Also, theatre of the absurd appears
to react broadly against the impact of religion and its dimension in contemporary life. In other words,
we can say that it is an attempt to restore the necessity of myth and ritual in the modern age, by
making the individual

The Vietnam Draft Lottery
Starting in the 1960s, the Cold War began to create problems for the United States. The United States
adopted the Domino Theory, which stated that if one country fell to Communism than other countries
in the region would follow. American foreign policy was largely centered around this idea and once
Northern and Southern Vietnam fell into conflict, the United States became fearful that Communism
would spread throughout Asia. The United States needed to send troops into Vietnam, but many
people opposed the war efforts and did not want to fight. This created a collective action problem that
the government needed to handle. Citizens wanted to have a military that would protect them and fight
for their country, however many people rather free ride and benefit from the military without directly
contributing to it. Through the original draft system, white males from high income families were less
likely to be drafted then men who came from minority backgrounds. This is because they took steps
that would qualify themselves for a deferment and excused them from fighting in the war. The United
States Government eventually had to enforce the draft more effectively and create a fair system. This
new system, called the Draft Lottery, aimed to fix these problems. The change in conscription
regulations serves as a collective action problem in United States History because the original format
that citizens were drafted by led the

Factors Nowadays, the more appropriate question needs to be answered is no longer to what extent
should a corporation include the society in their business operation but how to do it and use it as the
river for organizational success (Epstein et al, 2006). In recent years, ethics and social responsibility
have been playing an important role in the business world including in oil and mining industries. The
pressure towards society and ethical conducts are higher than ever. Although every oil and mining
multinational corporations economic missions are acknowledged, it is now their responsibility also to

When people go to a store in order to buy food or commodities, they are faced with a problem of a
wide choice of goods because nowadays there is a huge range of different producers. Moreover, all of
them try to be recognized on the market by creating a significant image. As a result, companies create
own brands. According to American Marketing Association (2013), a brand is a name, term, design,
symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller s good or service as distinct from those of other
sellers. Also, the process of creating connection or association between emotional perception of the

For example, company Apple produces own devices from high quality components, as a result
consumers often can forgive them for a bit higher price products. Another component of brand loyalty
is service quality that is a kind of personal selling when salesmen and potential buyers create direct
communication. In fact, consumers like to shop so where they are satisfied with the service and
receive a small privileges. Good relationship between buyer and seller ultimately leads to the
construction of communication, and as a result in the future consumer is bound to a particular brand.
Moreover a personal approach to customers impacts on their experience and service s evaluation and
additionally, influence on the loyalty to the brand (To and Leung, 2001, as cited in Yee Sidek, 2008).
In the context of brand loyalty, it is also a very important concept of word of mouth. This is a peer to
peer communication that consumers use it to express their attitude towards a particular product or
service. Also it is very important that consumers can express their opinion about it in a positive and
negative way (Rehman, Zia ur Rehman Dr. Akhtar, n.d). Public forums are a great example of the
concept word of mouth. On this platform people can communicate with each other and ask or express
opinion about some products or services.

market crash, the company blatantly acted in a manner inconsistent to their code of ethics as well as
the standards governing their industry. Charges were brought forth in 2010 against Goldman and one
of their employees, Fabrice Tourre. It is speculated that the reason only one employee was charged

itself was charged with securities fraud and Tourre was charged for making materially misleading

magnitude of interference happening when analog and digital circuit is placed nearby on a common
substrate. It has been design to have a broad bandwidth (1 KHz to 1MHz) with very high CMRR to
cancel out the unwanted noise at its both inputs and deliver single output. MOSFET capacitors are
used for the picking of substrate interference.
Key words CMOS, , noise sensor, Substrate Coupling, Guard Banding.

Then eventually the hunt leads to Heineman but the audience knows most of the bad guys. Then the
twist about Harry is revealed early and so there s no major twist left.
Most of all, the audience spends a long time invested with John in tracking down the perpetrators,
only for the ending to be unresolved. This doesn t provide for a satisfying ending for the audience.
Granted, the story appears to be based or inspired by true events, but it s still most likely not going to
feel satisfying for the audience. They want to see the hero win on some level.
There s an obligated romance between John and Elaine. While Elaine presents as a smart and
intriguing character, as structured now the attraction doesn t feel authentic. It feels as if it s created as
an obligation for the film to include a romance rather than the relationship being genuine.
The other concern is that John feels a bit too generic as a character. He doesn t have a personality that
stands out. It s pivotal that that the audience relate with John as a hero. However, he s rather
depressing. He does learn to move on with his life and let go of his wife. As a detective, he remains
the same. He picks his career over his wife.
In contrast, Heineman is a smart and worthy foe and his background is certainly chilling. However, he
competes with a lot of other bad guys and so it s easy for him to get lost.

books. It really helped me get a well rounded understanding of poetry. My favorite unit was the
collection unit. The other poems we read taught me a lot about the other topics we touched on as well.
Before this class I never really gave poetry much thought, this class opened up my eyes to how
important poetry really is. The poem that stood out to me the most from the speaker, and narrative vs
lyric unit was Lorena by Lucille Clifton. I really enjoyed this poem and it made it easy for me to
understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but wrote it about a experience
Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a poem could have a speaker other
then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the author is not necessarily the speaker. I
thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the
phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant
to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative, it told a story about the even Lorena actually lived
through. It really stood out to me a lot and helped me understand the concept on a deeper level. The
poem that stood out to me the most from the imagery and figurative logic unit was Women by

21. Designing And Performing A Procedure
Title: Designing and Performing a Procedure Used to Determine the Percent of Water in a Hydrate
Objective: To determine the chemical formula for the Mystery Hydrate
Problem: Determining the formula for the Mystery Hydrate
Variables:
Independent Variable (IV)
What percent water is the Mystery Hydrate
Dependent Variable (DV)
The amount of hydrate left after heating
Introduction
Hydrates are substances that include water in their formula. The water is not actually part of the
chemical substance and this is reflected in the way the formula is written (ChemTeam, 2016). An
example of a hydrate is beryllium sulfate tetrahydrate, which is written like: BeSO4· 4H2O. All
hydrates follow the same formula format; with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

23. Developmental Disabilities Personal Statement
Although I graduate with my bachelors in November I am still undecided with what I want to do
exactly. I know that I would prefer to work with young children. With having siblings born with rare
genetic disorders that have affected every aspect of their lives I do find myself leaning toward
developmental disabilities. Developmental disability is a group of common chronic conditions which
result from physical or mental impairment, causing difficulties in self help, mobility, and learning. For
one to become a specialist in this area, they must possess a wide range of skills. Therefore, this area
requires specific skills and experimental background in order to provide better services to people
living with developmental disabilities. The behavior analytical principles can be applied through self
monitoring procedures which increase the accuracy with which a variety of protocols can be
implemented in a human service organization. These self monitoring procedures can help increase
procedural integrity by providing performance feedback. The identified two studies in this case were
useful through combination of both performance feedback and negative reinforcement meant to
increase the procedural integrity of behavioral intervention of elementary school teachers. The studies

Notice that the PV in 2004 remains at $16.82. This makes sense, since the value of a firm should not
depend on the investment horizon chosen for valuation. We have reduced ROE to the 10% cost of
capital after 2010, assuming that the company will have exhausted valuable growth opportunities by
that date. With PVGO = 0, PV = EPS/r. So we could discard the constant growth DCF formula and
just divide EPS in 2011 by the cost of capital: The keys to the company s future value and growth are

25. Pros And Cons Of Tourism
Conclusion
As The World Tourism Organization writes on its website: Modern tourism is closely linked to
development and encompasses a growing number of new destinations. These dynamics have turned
tourism into a key driver for socio ýeconomic progress.
Over recent decades, tourism became one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world.
Today, the business volume of tourism equals or even surpasses that of oil exports,
food products or
automobiles. Tourism has become one of the major aspects in
international commerce, and represents
at the same time one of the main income
sources for many developing countries. This growth goes
hand in hand with an
increasing diversification and competition among destinations.

26. Canadian Shield Case Analysis
Using the Accenture document on governance presented with the Alcan case, place Canadian Shield in
the appropriate quadrant.
According to the Accenture document, I would place Canadian Shield within the efficient, predictable
operator category. The slow rate of change and need to compete on operational efficiencies
characterized by most companies in this quadrant is detailed by the following quote from the case
authors. Sustainability for Canadian insurance companies greatly depended on investments in projects
that increased customer service and improved operational efficiency. This comment is aligned with the
predictable operator company practices and is evidence that in order to gain a competitive advantage

According to the model the IT Monarchy style allows IT executives to hold the right to make
important IT decisions. A more affective mechanism could be put in place by AC in the form of an IT
leadership council that includes corporate and business unit CIOs.
What do questions 1 2 tell us about IT governance at CS? Is it appropriately structured for this kind of
decision?
As mentioned above, AC and Canadian Shield both reflect signs of the IT Monarchy style of IT
governance. It appears that by letting the same IT manager that helped create the existing problematic
information system called ALPHA spearhead the project of finding its replacement was a conflict of
interest.
In an industry that is heavily dependent on gaining a competitive advantage through operational
efficiencies and consistently delivering value added projects to the customer, it is essential for AC and
CS to rethink the current corporate governance model.
Across almost all of the major IT governance categories, it seems that CS and AC are either lacking
elements completely or lagging behind current IT standards significantly. IT principles or high level
statements about how to use technology to create business value is non existent in the Canadian Shield
philosophy statement and hard to identify within the case write up by the authors. Furthermore, the
corporate IT infrastructure and architecture has become so archaic that the

28. African American Men Characteristics
To other people, the average black man is simple. Very athletic, not too bright, but very street smart.
But in all actuality, an African American male is much more than what meets the eye. There are many
obvious traits that pertain to being classified as an African American man such as, skin tone and
lineage. Those are very broad characteristics though, there are many different black men and they are
all special.
One first type of African American man that comes to mind of a stereotypical person is tall, buff, and
very athletic. This man is classified as the athlete and is only seen to as that and to others he holds no
significant value off the field or court. He is the great person to win the championship and earn the

29. Canadian Immigration Policy Analysis
To further add to the strengths of Canadian immigration policy, Canadian views on immigration are
supported by a qualitative support, rather than misconceived narrative of immigrants. To elaborate, the
media has created a narrative where certain races of immigrants are more prone to committing crimes
through the over reporting of immigrant crimes and incidents (Rossiter Rossiter, 2009, p.2). This then
creates a false impression of them that is reflected in the immigration policy, which then further fuels
the discrimination. Statistically speaking, this impression is false as immigrants do not commit crimes
at a greater rate than native population (Rossiter Rossiter, 2009, p.5). In fact, according to empirical
research, immigrants who have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

31. Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies
Compare and Contrast Essay
The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons
character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment,
shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly depict
characters loss of innocence.
Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife
changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from returning to
their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned
creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group s idea of a submissive
follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path.
Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what s best for yourself shows a
maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too
preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks
savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the
butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from
taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace
amounts of good in them. recognizing the

32. The Scarlet Letter And Arthur Miller s The Crucible
Carter Beaulieu
Mr. Damaso
AP English III, Period 5
21 October 2014
Puritanical Deception (1000) Emigrating from the Old World to purify the Church of England, the
Puritan society was one of very strict religious beliefs. Believing in living plainly, the Puritans
denounced those who went against their ways. They even excoriated fellow members of their
community if a sin was bound to ones name. One sin in particular, adultery, was seen as a
contravention to the covenant that the Puritans had established with God. Church leaders believed that
unless the sinners were chastised, God would punish the whole community for a sin of such a
magnitude. Despite having a sought out system of punishment for sinners, the tougher task for these
leaders was to figure out who in fact was a sinner, as some did not confess. Those who did not confess
or who had not been caught would behave hypocritically in order to preserve their reputation and
avoid punishment. In both Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter and Arthur Miller s The Crucible,
the repercussions of committing adultery are exhibited through characters in two different puritanical
societies. Arthur Dimmesdale, Hester Prynne, John Proctor, and Abigail Williams are all victims to
this. Despite living in sincere societies, these characters behave hypocritically in order to hide a
concealed truth, resulting in internal ignominy, until they ultimately confess.
Arthur Dimmesdale shows his guilt and
