2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

INNOVATIVE LESSON PLAN
Curricular Statement To obtain knowledge about Amoeba a unicellular.
To Understand the different stage of food absolbed
To attain idea about how digestion happiness in amoebas body
Learning out comes The leaner recognizeAmoeba a unicellular organism
The leaner explains the process of digestion
The lean ernesanalyses the process of assimilation
Process Skill The leaner develops observation skill through observing digestion process.
The learner Communicates with other the process of digestion in unicellular organism
Content Analysis
Terms Amoeba, Unicellular organism, Micro organism, Protoplasm, food vacuole, lysosomes, absosption,
amino acids, glycerin, fatty acids, elimination, Endocytosis, Pinocytosis, phagocytosis
Facts: 1. Amoeba in a unicellular micro organism
2. When amoeba in contact without prey the protoplasm flows over so as to engulf in a cavety
or small pocket formed.
3. Pocket in closed and pinched off as a cavity when forms the food vacuole. It was the
temporary stomach for an amoeba
4. The protoplasm secretes digested fluid in the lysosomes. A lysosome full of enzymes fuses
with each food vacuole. The enzyme gradually digest the food. Digestion is completed in
18.30 hours.
5. The digested food diffuse through the membranes of the food vacuoles. In to surrounding
cytoplasm. This in called absosphan of food.
2. 6. Amino aids that diffuse in to the cytoplasm are synthesized into prow pharm. Theirin called
ass. melah result on growth.
7. Sugar glycerin and fatty acids are used as source of energy or are synthesized into storage
products.
The digestion of the food in amoeba takes place inside the cell formation of food vacuole.
This process of digestion in said to be intracellular
The indigestible matter or facers is left behind as the organism moves along
Amoeba sl hydra abosorb food by endocytosis through cell membrane.
Endocytosis takes place in two wags. Pinocytosis phagocytosis
Concept
Major Digestion and assimilation food in Amoeba
Pinocytosis- absosblian of required food
Phage cylosis- absorbing solid food
Pre Request ion The learner already knows that amoeba in a unicellular organism
Teaching learning Resources 1. Power point slide showing the different stage of Digestion of food in Amoeba.
2. A Chart Showing different stages
Teaching Learning Process
Introduction
As a part of awaking process, the teacher shows the picture of Amoeba hydra and conduct
discussion with student.
3. What do you understand from this picture?
What type of Organism in that
Do you know the Specialty ofthere organism
Do you Know how these organism eat food and hows its digestion taking
place?
Do you want to know more about the different stages of digestion of food
in Ameoba?
DIFFERENT STAGES OF FOOD DIGESTION IN AMOEBA (BBH)
Teacher shows the powerpoint slide of the structure of Amoeba. Teacher
then ask the students to point out part and the fooden entering in the
Ameobas body
Pupil Respons All Says Amoeba Hydra
All Says Unicellular organism
Will Says Micro organism
No
All Says yes
Students identify the 3 Stages
4. The teacher explains the process, Amoeba comes in contact with its food
the psotoplasm flows over it so as to engalt in a cavity as small pocket in
femed it in enclosed by pseudopodia.
The food Vacube serves as a temporary stomach for an amoeba
The teacher explains the process
The food vacuole servs as a temporary stomach for an amoeba the
Surrounding Psotoplasm. Secretes digestive fluids and it is stored I the
lysosomes. Enxymen fuses with each food vacuole. Gradully digestion
baking place it complete in 15-30
Teaher explain the soluble foods resections from digestion diffuse through
the membrane of the food vacuole into the surrounding cytoplasm, is called
abscrption (BBH)
.
Students understand the process.
5. The amino acids that diffuse into the cyloplasm are synthesized into
protoplasm. This is called assimilation (BBH) that result in growth. Sugars,
Glycerin and fatty acids all used as a source of energy are synthesized in to
storage products. The digestion of food in amoeba takes places inside the
cell. This process of digestion in said to be intracellular (BBH). The
indigestible matter of faces in left- behing as the organism moves along.
The teacher explain the process Engocylosis (BBH) food entering in
amoba. That are pinocytosis (BBH) Pinocylosis liquid food is absorbed
through plama membrane.
PhagoCylosis Solid particles are taken in by plarma membrane
Pupil Divide and team group A&B
6. Activity No.1
The teacher divided the class into 2 groups groups A and B. And ask
them question like a Qizzprogrammewhoch group in giving the answer first
that group get 5 marks with each question.
Ameoba in a………………………….animal?
Which part of Ameobas body from a cavity?
Name the Enzyme which help for the food digestion?
The food preparation inside the Ameobas body known as?
