This paper reviews literature on the impact of online social networking sites (SNS) on student engagement and achievement, highlighting that while some studies report positive benefits, others indicate negative or inconclusive results. Despite the potential for SNS to enhance educational outcomes, there remains no definitive evidence linking their use to improved student performance, with many studies suggesting distractions rather than educational benefits. The paper calls for more targeted research to explore the actual effects of SNS on various aspects of student learning and achievement.
