In this talk, the speaker will explore using the Android smartphone as an emergency alert system with fall detection capability. Comparison will be made between a dedicated medical alert system and the smartphone-based solution. The speaker will also address the technical challenges and limitation of using Android smartphone for fall detection.

Blue Eyes is a technology conducted by the research team of IBM at its Almaden Research Center (ARC) in San Jose, California since 1997. Blue eyes technology makes a computer to understand and sense human feelings and behavior and also enables the computer to react according to the sensed emotional levels. The aim of the blue eyes technology is to give human power or abilities to a computer, so that the machine can naturally interact with human beings as we interact with each other. All human beings have some perceptual capabilities, the ability to understand each other’s emotional level or feelings from their facial expressions. Blue eyes technology aims at creating a computer that have the abilities to understand the perceptual powers of human being by recognizing their facial expressions and react accordingly to them.
Imagine, a beautiful world, where humans collaborate with computers!! .The computer can talk, listen or screech aloud!! .With the help of speech recognition and facial recognition systems, computers gathers information from the users and starts interacting with them according to their mood variations. Computer recognizes your emotional levels by a simple touch on the mouse and it can interact with us as an intimate partner. The machine feels your presence; verifies your identity and starts interacting with you and even it will dial and call to your home at any urgent situations. This all is happening with this “Blue Eyes” technology.
These slides use ideas from my (Jeff Funk) class to develop a business model for MYO’s new form of computer interface. This wrist band-based device uses EMG signals from a person’s forearm to control mobile phones, MP3 players, and other electronic devices. This enables users to interact with electronic devices in ways that can’t be done with existing gesture (e.g., Kinect, LEAP)-based devices or touch screens. Snow boarders can control their MP3 players on the slopes while gamers can do new tricks.
The designed SCADA software system ensured remote monitoring of the positions and advanced system health conditions of all the solar tracking systems to provide data analytics and reporting. This SCADA solution was designed and developed toco-exist in a remote system that will continuously monitor multiple fields consisting of several masters and their respective slave trackers.

The need for home security alarm systems nowadays is a serious demand. As
the number of crimes is increasing every day, there has to be something that
will keep us safe. We are all aware of the high end security systems present in
the market but they are not easily available to everyone. We therefore intend to
provide a solution by constructing a cost efficient electronic system that has the
capability of sensing the motion of the intruders, also detecting LPG gas
leakage (cooking gas) and setting on the alarm. The basic idea behind this
project is that all the bodies generate some heat energy in the form of infrared
which is invisible to human eyes. But, it can be detected by the electronic motion
sensor. The project involves the use of Arduino, a motion sensor, a gas
sensor,buzzer, LCD display and a simple program. The sensor detects any
motion in its permissible range and triggers the alarm by calling the owner and
sending him a message. It will also send the signal to Arduino which processes
the signal and set off the alarm along with a detection message on display. With
this system, we can easily set up a security alarm in our home for unwanted
intruders and gas leakage.

Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

The proper function of the integrated circuit (IC) in an inhibiting electromagnetic environment has always been a serious concern throughout the decades of revolution in the world of electronics, from disjunct devices to today’s integrated circuit technology, where billions of transistors are combined on a single chip. The automotive industry and smart vehicles in particular, are confronting design issues such as being prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Electronic control devices calculate incorrect outputs because of EMI and sensors give misleading values which can prove fatal in case of automotives. In this paper, the authors have non exhaustively tried to review research work concerned with the investigation of EMI in ICs and prediction of this EMI using various modelling methodologies and measurement setups.

for surveillance that has only PIR
sensor, MCU and a smartphone .
8. PIR SENSORS
• PIR sensors works on pyroelectricity principle.
• PIR sensors consists of a pyroelectric element.
• The PIR sensor detects the infrared radiation emitted
or reflected from an object.

• PIR sensors can be operates on two voltage
levels(3.3v and 5v)
• The PIR sensor can detect motions up to 7m
vicinity but its direction probability is high
within 4m.

• Continuous stream of high and low signal is send to
MCU when there is motion or not from PIR output.
• To get an exact time slot of the motion a simple input
locking mechanism is implemented using a lock
variable.
