This thesis describes Lukman Hidayat's development of supplementary reading materials for eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Malang. The needs assessment found students lacked motivation to read due to uninteresting texts in their coursebook. The teacher also struggled to find engaging materials. The product aims to provide varied reading materials tailored to students' abilities. The research adapted Hyland's R&D model, including needs assessment, materials development, expert validation, trials, and revisions. The final product consists of three chapters with stories, pictures, and reading exercises to develop skills in an enjoyable way. Expert and teacher validation, along with student tryouts, provided feedback for improvements. It is hoped the materials will motivate independent learning and support reading
