Social media analytics tools can help governments in three key ways:
1. They can measure and monitor public sentiment and opinion in real-time through analysis of social media posts to understand trends.
2. They can help with proactive crisis management by tracking topics like how terrorists communicate and what they discuss.
3. They provide indicators on how effective terrorist messaging is by analyzing if people align with those groups or distance themselves.

Tools to Grow, Measure and Optimize Social Traffic ShareThis
Explaining the importance of understanding your social traffic by putting in place the proper measurement tools, such as ShareThis or other analytics tools.
A publisher's social traffic makes up a significant amount of their traffic (usually about 30%), but more importantly this traffic is very valuable because it's prequalified users that are coming to their site through friend's and family's recommendation, making them highly likely to convert into customers for publishers.
Just as publishers track, measure and optimize their search traffic, they should be doing the same for their social traffic.

Why aren't Evaluators using Digital Media Analytics?CesToronto
Whether it’s through blogs, tweets, or even the comments section of an online newspaper, the world is increasingly talking online. However, the potential uses for the massive amounts of information available on the internet remain largely untapped in the sphere of evaluation.
This presentation will explore innovative methods to extract these insights from the large and complex collections of digital data publicly available online. In particular, we will examine the unprecedented uses, and potential limitations, of digital media analytics to:
• Measure the outcomes of public outreach, advocacy, communications, and information sharing programs;
• Establish current and retroactive baselines;
• Conduct “borderless” data collection to gain insights from other countries, as well as disapora communities in Canada;
• Identify unknown stakeholder groups and create detailed stakeholder maps; and,
• Provide context and insight to inform further data collection.
An introduction-level guide on social listening. Researching Social Media – Big Data and Social Media AnalysisFarida Vis
Researching Social Media – Big Data and Social Media Analysis, presentation for the Social Media for Researchers: A Sheffield Universities Social Media Symposium, 23 September 2014
Content that is posted on and shared via Social Media networks has had a profound effect on how we communicate. It changed the way information is spread and consumed dramatically. This also had significant impacts on traditional ways of information gathering and distribution.
Social Media can have both positive and negative effects. It can be used for various purposes, ranging from effective disaster management to news reporting and the intentional spreading of false information such as propaganda or marketing.
In order to better evaluate and classify content residing in Social Networks, it is necessary to filter and assess its information value in terms of credibility, trustworthiness, reputation, popularity, influence, authenticity and proximity.
What is the REVEAL project about?
REVEAL focuses on verification technologies, tools and strategies. It aims to develop tools, components and strategies that aid journalists and enterprise community managers in identifying, assessing and verifying User Generated Content (UGC) on Social Networks.
In REVEAL, we aim to reveal and analyse much more than bare content. The analysis framework for assessing the credibility of information found in Social Networks is based on three main pillars: Contributor, Content and Context.
Joint analysis of the validity of Contributor, Content and Context provides a more thorough approach for revealing truthfulness.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

We met a lot of people on excursions in the area that were unhappy with their hotels and were paying a
lot for them. We stayed here in high season for $130/night, and it was completely luxurious. Modern
rooms with great bathrooms and patios (although small TV), good food, professional service with perfect
English--all you need. It's worth a few extra dollars to stay here vs. other places.
The location is adequate. You can walk to the old city but it's still quiet at night. That said, there are
places more centrally located. But we'd stay here again if we make it back to… (Media Source: Trip Advisor)
