Stress and fatigue analysis of landing gear axle of a trainer aircrafteSAT Journals
Abstract The undercarriage or landing gear of an aircraft is the structure that supports an aircraft on the ground and allows it to taxi, takeoff and land. Among the various parts of landing gear, axle is the most critical component where the loads (landing and ground loads) act on the axle first, then transferred to the structure. In this study stress and fatigue analysis of the axle is performed to meet the strength and life requirements. The modeling of the axle is done using UniGraphics (UG) software. Stress analysis is carried out using MSC Patran (pre-processing and post-processing)/Nastran (solver) for different landing loads (spin up, spring back, maximum vertical and drift) and ground handling loads (braking, taxing and turning). Stress analysis was carried out by both classical and FEM approaches and by comparing the results it was obvious that they were in correlation with one another. Fatigue analysis was also carried out for the axle using landing spectrum and ground handling spectrum to estimate the fatigue life. 3. Tujuan I: Safety
• Kewajiban para staf operasi darat adalah
menjaga agar pesawat udara dan
penerbangan tetap aman. Isi pesawat udara
yaitu penumpang, bagasi, kargo. Mail, bahan
bakar, spare-part, crew & bagasinya harus
ditimbang agar muatan pesawat udara tidak
melebihi kapasitas pesawat (payload).
• Payload diperoleh dari MTOW, MLW dan
MZFW.

4. Maximum Take Off
Weight
• MTOW adalah berat maksimum pesawat
pada waktu tak-off di landasan airport
keberangkatan.
• Berat pesawat ini terdiri dari berat kosong
ditambah berat bahan bahan bakar, awak
pesawat & bagasinya, spare part, catering,
penumpang, bagasi, kargo dan mail.
5. Maximum Landing
Weight
• MLW adalah berat maksimum pesawat
waktu mendarat di landasan airport
tujuan.
• MLW adalah MTOW dikurangi berat
bahan bakar yang telah dibakar
(consumption).
6. Maximum Zero Fuel
Weight
• MZFW yaitu berat maksimum
pesawat waktu belum di-isi bahan
bakar.
• MZFW ini akan mempengaruhi
struktur sayap pesawat udara.
7. Tujuan II: Regularity
(Punctuality)
• Keberangkatan pesawat udara harus tepat
waktu sesuai jadwal penerbangan.
• Waktu yang harus ditepati adalah waktu
yang ada dalam time table (jadwal
penerbangan)
• ETD = Estimated Time of Departure
• ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival
• ATD = Actual Time of Departure.
• ATA = Actual Time of Arrival

• Proses penerbangan terdiri dari:
1. Engine on terus taxi
2. Run-up terus airborne
3. Climb, Cruise, and descend
4. Approach, touch-down and taxiing

• Block time adalah waktu yang dihitung
sejak ganjal roda pesawat dilepaskan di
airport keberangkatan sampai ganjal roda
dipasang di airport tujuan.
• Flight time adalah waktu yang dihitung
sejak pesawat airborne di airport
keberangkatan sampai touch down di
airport tujuan.
11. Reporting Time
• Adalah waktu bagi penumpang harus check-
in di bandar udara.
• Reporting time adalah 45 menit sebelum
jadwal keberangkatan pesawat.
• Apabila penumpang terlambat sesudah
reporting time, maka ia dinyatakan
NOSHOW.

• RTB = return to base, yaitu pesawat
mengalami kerusakan mesin dan
kembali ke pangkalan.
• RTA = return to apron, yaitu
pesawat mengalami kerusakan
sebelum take-off dan kembali parkir
di pelataran.

• Divert = yaitu pesawat mendarat di
airport yang bukan tujuan penerbangan,
karena mengalami kerusakan mesin.
• Technical landing adalah penerbangan
yang melakukan pendaratan hanya untuk
mengisi bahan bakar saja. Biasanya
untuk menambah payload.
14. Tujuan III: Comfort
(Nyaman)
• Kenyamanan bagi penumpang perlu
diperhatikan sejak check-in sampai
penumpang meninggalkan bandar udara.
• Check-in dengan boarding pass warna yang
berlainan.
• Penumpang yang perlu diperhatikan khusus.
• Ada first class lounge.

• Pesawat harus diterbangkan secara
efficient dan effective.
• Load factor apabila mungkin, agar LF
100%.
• Load Factor = actual load / payload x
