Road to SOA – A Case Study
Westfield is the world's largest retail property group. It was looking to modernize its technology integration and move from batch processes to real-time integrations using web services. It chose Oracle Fusion Middleware to serve as an agnostic integration platform to connect its various Oracle and non-Oracle applications. Implementing this platform required changes to skills, processes and culture to transition from siloed systems to shared, service-oriented architectures. Lessons learned included the need for business buy-in, education, and matching technologies to organizational readiness for change. The next steps involved shifting to view the platform as a strategic investment rather than just project-based and further developing the infrastructure, governance and business capabilities.
