Sparkle Paper Towel
Advertisements regardless of the company are carefully planned out in order to attract customers to
increase sales. The advertisement for Sparkle paper towels has many carefully planned aspects
throughout the ad. First of all, the colors in advertisement evoke emotion and ideation in the
customer s mind. The bluecolor represents cleanliness. The whole point of paper towelis to clean up
messes. Also the color blue has an affect on the mind and body such as it invokes rest and makes
people typically feel calm. When a spill happens people tend to get to anger or upset over it, with
the blue in the advertisement it shows how the paper towel can reduce spills subconsciously. The
greencolor represents freshness. Once the spill is cleaned people will feel as though their home
is fresh and clean. The color green has affects on the body as well it also relaxes the body, calms,

The illustrations of a sparkle it is visually appealing the eye. Humans are attracted to things that
sparkle, because water sparkles. We are genetically programmed to need water. With this visual
appeal, subconsciously we would be attracted to the advertisement, therefore wanting to purchase
the paper towel. The shiny white tusks on the elephant also give off this affect. Fifthly, the
question and answer about the elephant and Sparkle paper towels is a tactic to employ attention.
The question is what is made to hook people in. Whenever a question is asked, people tend to be
curious to know what the answer is. It grabs the consumer in. It captures their attention. For the
answer to the question is it giving people a reason to buy the product. The advertisement states,
Both can soak up spills, but only one can fit your kitchen. The meaning behind this answer it shows
how accessible and attainable the product is. It is also making a claim that the product can soak up

Women play victims in Thomas Hardy s short stories, roles that were typical of Victorian women
in general Discuss with references at least three of Hardy s short stories
Thomas Hardy in his short stories The Withered Arm , Tony Kytes, the
Arch Deceiver and the Winters and the Palmleys presents his readers with a series of unsettling
visions of the relations between men and women, women mainly coming worse off. For example

There are also examples of oppression in other Hardy short stories, such as Tony Kytes, the Arch
Deceiver where he is in a humourous dilemma of which of the three women in his wagon he
should marry, and in The Withered Arm , Farmer Lodge just discards Rhoda after she gets
pregnant, making her into a witch because she has a child without a husband. This Rhoda Brook
is a typical victim of Hardy s short stories, isolated and an outcast of society from an early age
after being used and left by Farmer Lodge. She doesn t even get any respect from her son, which
was probably due to a bad upbringing, due to her obsession with Farmer Lodge ever since he
discarded her. When we join the story of The Withered Arm she is already an old outcast that s
well past her prime and when it says ...her dark eyes that had once been handsome , it suggests that
when she was with Lodge she was a
handsome , attractive woman, but now she was all but a thin fading woman of thirty . This also
shows at what time women where thought to have been old. When Lodge gets a new wife, she
becomes extremely jealous of the woman and her face as comely as a live dolls . It s because of
this loathing towards her, she (accidentally) curses her

The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante...
The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey
through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory.
Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of
how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will
guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays
Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man
s journey through life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way.
In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight
road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from
the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that
leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of
this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right
path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark
wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the people of mankind who are
not consciously aware of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Games By Steve Johnson
If you put yourself in an environment with lots of different perspectives, you yourself are going
to have better, sharper, more original ideas, stated Steve Johnson in an interview with Salon
Media Group. In a surrounding with many different networks of people, ideas will be enhanced
with the knowledge of other perspectives. Also, the new ideas will encourage debate and
conversation. Not only will other people s views enhance ideas, but also is crucial for writingon a
topic. Acknowledging opposing perspectives will give a writer more authority on the subject being
discussed. Also, it gives the audiencean opportunity to respect an author. In Steve Johnson s essay,

Johnson has written similar books to these topics and has done research for them, therefore, he
must have previous knowledge to some extent before writing Games. In the first paragraph
Johnson is already showing he has done his research and writes about Dr. Spock and what he must
say about video games (196). Afterwards, Johnson introduces another source he has studied, this
time about reading, written by Andrew Solomon (197). Both studies Johnson introduces shows he
has researched both video games and reading. Later in his piece, Johnson writes, When I read
these ostensibly positive accounts of video games... (200). Johnson is showing the audience he is
analyzing video games for himself by reading about them and the actual content of the games.
Concluding his piece, he states that video games can be hard (Johnson 201). This statement
implies Johnson has played video games himself, otherwise he would be contradicting himself of
what he says in the context. He talks about the gap between people who have or have not played
them. People who have not played them cannot talk about them coherently (201). Therefore,
Johnson must have played video games and gained a personal experience that makes him qualified

This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group

were not analyzed, as they did not fall into the target group of generation Y and this was an
administrative error. This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers
can unintentionally design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to.
Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey
sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate
a population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the
representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both
accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious
misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was
inadvertent but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been
influenced by an auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced
by the organization conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011).

Searching for His Identity in Novel, The Invisible Man by...
Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his
being in the society in which he lives. (B. R. Ambedkar). Ralph Waldo Ellison was born on March
1, 1914, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and named after journalist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.
In his the novel, Invisible Man, the main character carries around a briefcase throughout the
entire story. All of the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept
from experiences. If the Negro, or any other writer, is going to do what is expected of him, he s
lost the battle before he takes the field. I suspect that all the agony that goes into writing is borne
precisely because the writer longs for acceptance but it must be acceptance on his own terms.
Ralph Ellison. The period of the novel takes place around The Great Depression the worst economic
crisis in the country s history, which left a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing
millions of people to suffer and experience joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade.
With so many hardships facing people in this time they all wanted the same thing, which was to
get a job and get back all they had lost. This led people to change whom they were and gain new
identities to fit the new society. Throughout the novel, the Invisible Man is searching for his
identity. At the start of Ralph Ellison s novel, we are introduced to a self proclaimed invisible man.
The narrator is portrayed as a

Significance Of The Treaty Of Versailles

World History
Significance of the Treaty of Versailles
World War I was a devastating war that had a long lasting effect on every European country. After
the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austrian throne, and his wife by the hands of a
Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand. Germany urged Austria Hungary to attack Serbia,
but Russia stepped up to protect the country. Germany ambushed Belgium, and proceeded to
Russia, throwing Great Britain into the war due to their alliance with Belgium. As a result, the
continent of Europe, including Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Austria Hungary, and France, was
plunged into a great World War. The war lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it left Germany singled
out as the catalyst. In November 1918, Germany finally agreed to an Armistice, a halt in the
fighting, but they did not consider themselves to be surrendering. At the time, the Germans
believed that they would play a role in constructing the treaty that would end the war, but when the
time came, they were not allowed to participate. Germany was greatly angered by this, but there
was nothing that they could do for their army had been disarmed. They had two choices: sign the
Treaty or be invaded by the Allies. With no other option, the Treaty of Versailleswas signed on June
28, 1919 in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles in France. Although the Treaty of
Versailles did bring an end to World War I

White Noise Religion
Don DeLillo s novel White Noise explores the relativity of religion in the modern world by
conceiving a world in which religion is entirely changed. Traditional aspects of religion,
specifically Christianity, are rarely, if at all, present in this novel. Does DeLillo believe that
religion is relativity in our modern society? Or is he pushing the boundaries by creating a distorted
reality in which American culture is the primary religion? This question is initially exemplified in
White Noise when it states: It s not what I believe that counts. It s what you believe (318). This
paper will analyze White Noise s introduction and examination into religion; in an attempt uncover
an answer to the question, is American culture the only relative... Show more content on

Jack distances himself from traditional religion when he states: Watching children sleep makes
me feel devout, part of a spiritual system. It is the closest I can come to God (141). By stating
this, Jack identities traditional religion as an obscure practice that he has no access to. Modern
society proves not only unconquerable but also unconditionally opposed to the practices and
ideals of traditional religion, which encourages humans that it is possible to believe in a higher
power. Even the clergy, who are supposedly the most devout followers of religion, only pretend
to believe. In turn, the clergy s acceptance of religion exaggerates and evolves into a form of
resigned impersonation. This notion becomes evident when Jack discusses religion with Sister
Hermann Marie: To abandon such beliefs completely, the human race would die. This is why we
are here. A tiny minority. To embody old things, old beliefs... If we did not pretend to believe
these things, the world would collapse (318). Jack s absurd encounters with the clergy, illustrate
DeLillo perspective that traditional is a laughable illusion. Religion is no longer seen as
something revered and adored. Even the clergy s connection to God is not highly emphasized;
there is a clear gap between traditional religion and its relativity in our modern

Does Medea Play The Role Of A Tragic Hero
While tragic heroes traditionally are the victim or pawn in a fate that they do not have much
control over, Medea, in this case, does not fit the script. She seeks her own revenge while using
powers that she already has. It does not seem that very many outside forces effect her, and if they
do, Medea seems to willingly succumb. Despite these peculiarities, she does possess one
characteristic that is similar to a tragic hero. Tragic heroes almost always know what it means to
suffer. Medeaknows what it means to suffer, and this, despite her lacking a few tragic hero
characteristics, is what ultimately allow her to play the role of a tragic hero. Aristotle said that for
a protagonist to become a tragic hero, they must evoke in the audience

American Born Chinese Assimilation
The stories American Born Chinese by Gene Lang, Linh Lai by Rebecca Rosenblum and Tapka by
David Bezmozgis all follow the lives of immigrants and first generation born Canadians/Americans.
These stories are diverse both in the ethnicity of the characters and in their experiences. However,
they are all summative of the detriment of the immigrant experience, which is a universal struggle.
These stories, through their diversity and similarity, give the cumulative theme that assimilation
often does more harm than good, and that it widely contributes to isolation, loneliness and loss of
identity. American Born Chinese is a graphic novel about the Asian immigrant experience. It
weaves the stories of four characters into the lives of two first... Show more content on

Linh is constantly torn between Vietnamese and Canadian culture to the point where she begins
to question her identity and lose her ties to both cultures. Throughout the story, Lihn s name is
never used. She is instead referred to as either Jinny or Xing. However, neither name belongs to
a certain culture. Linh notices that All the white Jinnys have a different sound in their names
from the ihh in hers (Rosenblum 1). Xing is a name given to her by her employer to make her
sound more foreign but It s not a Vietnamese name. It s not a Canadian name. It s a no name (3).
Linh is forced into a new culture and that ultimately strips her of any identity. Linh is torn
between two cultures by Koenburg (her employer) and her uncle. Koenburg wants to preserve
her Vietnamese identity for the integrity of his restaurant. Her uncle, on the other hand wishes
for her to leave her old identity behind and assimilate to Canadian culture. This causes conflict
for Linh as she is constantly being pulled in two directions. An example of this would be when
Linh gets a new pair of shoes. Her uncle approves of the new Canadian shoes (7). However,
Koenburg disapproves stating that [they] are not Vietnamese (7). Linh is so conflicted between
the two cultures and her two identities that she ends up feeling void of any identity. This is
reflected in her life in one of the movies she watches. The film cuts off before the credits,
denying the actors and contributors of their identities much like she is being denied of hers (6).
The story ends with Linh falling off a skateboard and hitting her head. Koenburg and her friend
Jimmy are both shouting Jinny and Xing, but She has no idea who they re talking to (12). Linh

Although changing the lighting can bring some savings, this is just a small step toward
sustainability.
Increasing the efficiency of the equipment, by upgrading components and eliminating the
equipment s inefficiencies is another option for energy savings. Substantial savings can be realized
by changing the fixed speed motors on the injection molding equipment, to variable speed motors
that use less energy during less demanding cycles. Fixing the leaks in the equipment s hydraulic
system as well as performing other routine maintenance will keep the equipment efficient and
running as intended. Whereas these changes can increase efficiencies, they are simply bandages
that will need to be changed.
Safe Handling and Recycling of Chemicals and Solvents Riordan s four locations are at various

sustainability practices set by Riordan. By developing recycling and reuse practices Riordan will

Implications of Taking Care of a Filipino Patient Communication and language play a vital role in

Having a background of the patients cultural orientation is very important as a nurse because
interpreting and analyzing behavior is not an easy task if one does not have any idea of the
patient s socio cultural influences. Behavior is influenced by innate and outside forces thereby
making the patients observable behavior not enough to conclude right away. One also has to be
aware of the innate side. Filipino nurses and Filipino patients as well possess some similarities in
their psychological backgrounds which help nurses to relate the patients behavior to her

Examples Of Pride In Macbeth
Agency of Pride The American author, speaker, and pastor John C. Maxwell explains how pride
can have two different effects on people, There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good
pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks
of conceit and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of
Macbeth, Malcolm, and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and
obedience to their kingdom. Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful
trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the
lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have
agency during his temptations. One example of Macbeth s agency of pride that is expressed
during the play is the willpower that Macbeth has to control his actions during the first meeting
with the witches. In this interaction, the witches only tell him half of the prophecy By Sinel s
death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives, A
prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be

Swing Dance In The 1930 s
There are so many styles of dance that came together to eventually evolve into what swing dance
is today. In the early 20 s and 30 s there was the Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag and the Charleston.
Some of these dance forms such as the Lindy Hop and the Charleston started as an eight count
done in four steps then it evolved in the 1930 s to an eight count with 10 steps. During this time
swingdancehad some substantial changes due to music and regional influences.
At the start of the 40 s the era of Big Bands became very popular and swing dance was easily
adapted to this style of music giving that fast percussion beats in this genre. It brought about new
styles such as the St.Louis shag and the Carolina shag and even stayed very popular till the end of

Go Set A Watchman By Harper Lee
Synopsis Harper Lee s novel, Go Set a Watchman, tells the story of the 26 year old Jean Louise
as she gains awareness of her father s flaws and becomes a more independent and flexible person.
During the novel s exposition, Jean Louise is on a train returning to her hometown, Maycomb, to
visit her aging father, Atticus. Upon returning home, Jean Louise quickly gets into an argument
with her aunt, Alexandra, over trivial matters. The two continue to bicker at each other until
Atticus intervenes. While Jean Louise finds it extremely frustrating that her aunt is never able to
understand her point of view, she finds comfort believing that Maycomb has remained the same
since she last left. The narrative hook occurs when Jean Louise is informed of the changes that
have taken place in Maycomb. A notable example is when Henry Clinton, Jean s old friend,
informs her that her family sold Finch s Landing to a club. Jean is surprised at this and expresses
her displeasure at her world changing by stating; I just don t like my world disturbed without some
warning... (Lee 75). Many of the changes don t hinder Jean, but she is still bothered by the fact that
her world is changing without her knowledge. During the rising action, Jean Louise discovers a
racist pamphlet owned by her father. She confronts Alexandra about it, and her aunt informs her
that Atticus had brought it home from the citizen s council meeting. Mortified, Jean Louise goes to

Nero Impact On The Roman Empire
Emperor Nero, who was infamously known as one of the worst emperors, had a huge impact on the
Roman Empire in many different ways throughout his lifetime. Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus

who at that time was Emperor. Nerodid have a couple obstacles in his way to becoming Emperor,

Yann Martel manipulates the narrative style and structural devices within this passage to support
the will to survive theme that is present in Life of Pi. Before the shipwreck, Pi was a spiritual
individual with a strong appreciation for the joy and peace in life. Pi commonly experienced
cruelty and doubt from his family and friends; however, he remained calm by following the
guidance from his three religions. After the shipwreck, the spirituality within Pi s life was tampered

peaceful demeanour. At first, Pi maintained his interaction with God, but as the days passed and the

Richard Parker is a manifestation of the qualities that Pi needs; however, an abundance of these
qualities will contribute to Pi s downfall. This concept is also represented later in the book when
the blind French cook tries to trick Pi. The cook s primitive side overpowered him, causing him
to die in the jaws of Richard Parker. If Pi did not tame his savagery, he would have been
consumed by it, which would be represented by a fatal attack from Richard Parker. While
contemplating the confrontation of his survival instincts, Pi says, to know that and to apply it

Sweeney Research Paper
Josh Sweeney Brings Sled Hockey to Portland
Sled hockey was invented in the early 1960s at the Stockholm rehabilitation center. A group of
Swedes wanted to continue to play hockey despite their disability. The game follows the ice
hockey rules with a few exceptions. The players sit on specially designed sleds that have two
hockey blades under them. Furthermore, each player uses two specially designed sticks with
metal pick on the ends. This helps the person propel themselves across the ice. Finally, the goalie
uses specially designed gloves with metal picks sewn to the back of each glove. This helps the
goalie to maneuver during the game. http://www.usahockey.com/sledhockey

Sweeney contacted the NHLPA and its Goals Dreams program to tell them about his plans of
opening a sled hockey team in Portland. Immediately the organization supplied Sweeney with all
the equipment he needed to put 15 players on the ice. http://www.nhlpa.com/ http:/

hits the ice for the first time they ll be hooked and ready to join. Furthermore, Sweeney understands
it will be a slow process finding dedicated players who are willing to come consistently. http:/

For more than 30 years before Reagan took office, the United States and its allies had tried
unsuccessfully to rein in communism. Reagan believed that communism in the Soviet Union was
eroding and ready to crumble, expecting its collapse if competitively challenged by America. An
arms race had been ongoing between the U.S. and Russia for some time. Reagan, however, was
determined to put an end to it. Reagan began the competition with a very costly project known as
the Strategic Defense Initiative, aimed at neutralizing incoming Soviet missiles. This shocked the
Soviet Union, which was economically unable to match this rapid escalation of the arms race
(CITE).
After winning his second term as president, Ronald Reagan established what is now known as The
Reagan Doctrine, which provided support, both financially and militarily, for anti communist
fighters throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America (CITE). The policy s goal was to eliminate
tyrannical governments and promote individual liberties, freedom, and democracy. The Reagan
doctrine became the centerpiece of the Reagan administration by successfully stopping the Soviet
Union from spreading its communist control over specific regions of the world.
In 1985, a new leader by the name of Mikhail Gorbachev came to the political forefront of the
Soviet Union. Reagan saw this as his final opportunity to completely destroy the threat of
communism once and for all. Reagan and Gorbachev met

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet
Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s
ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire
drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade
in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting
of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and
validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my
opinion, hints at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that
concludes the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future
actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of
revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness,
the entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an
account. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies
(transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching (
Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles
internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the
King s murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes
Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method

* Leapfrog strategy This strategy involves bypassing the enemy s forces altogether. In the business
arena, this involves either developing new technologies, or creating new business models. This is a
revolutionary strategy that re writes the rules of the game. The introduction of compact disc
technology bypassed the established magnetic tape based defenders. The attackers won the war
without a single costly battle. This strategy is very effective when it can be realized.
Defensive marketing warfare strategies They are a type of marketing warfare strategy designed to
protect a company s market share, profitability, product positioning, or mind share. Fundamental
principles: 1. Always counter an attack with equal or greater force. 2. Defend every important
market. 3. Be forever vigilant in scanning for potential attackers. Assess the strength of the
competitor. 4. The best defense is to attack yourself. Attack your weak spots and rebuild yourself
anew. 5. Defensive strategies should be the exclusive domain of the market leader
The main types of defensive marketing warfare strategies are: * Position defense This involves
the defense of a fortified position. This tends to be a weak defense because you become a sitting
duck . It can lead to a siege situation in which time is on the side of the attacker, that is, as time
goes by the defender gets weaker, while the attacker gets stronger. In a business context, this

The Influential Typeface Helvetica
The influential typeface Helvetica, a neo grotesque1 sans serif type design, came into being in
the early 1950s after the Second World War. The expectation of the designers, Edouard Hoffman
and Max Miedinger was to create a neutral typeface that had great clarity, no intrinsic meaning in
its form and could be used on a wide variety of signage to remake a new identity apart from the past
(). Originally named as Neue Haas Grotesk, the typefacewas changed to Helveticain 1960. Today,
Helvetica, as an aesthetics constant, although not perfect, mastered the quantum leap in 1957 from
metal type to the digital age of word processing. Axel Langer, a curator of Islamic Near Eastern
Art, mentioned it as an impersonal typeface for today and tomorrow ().
Analysis:

The original design was released by Linotype in 1957. Since its launch, the typeface had been
worked on by a variety of designers to adapt it for successive methods of composition, from hot
metal to photocomposition to digital. Given the technical limitations of methods, the character
weights, widths and spacing were inconsistent and compromised.
Neue Helvetica, as the outcome of technological changes, was designed in 1983, represents a
synthesis of aesthetics and technical refinements and modifications that resulted in improved
usefulness: a number of characters were subtly changed to be more consistent and more
harmonious with the overall design characteristics. For instance, the x height has been adjusted to
appear visually the same in all weights. The x heights in previous versions were all the same, but
since type tends to look shorter as it gets heavier, the new x heights compensate for this optical
illusion. Besides, the crossbars on the lowercase f and t were widened to increase the legibility in
text. Additionally, the Neue Helvetica family was extended to 51 weights in all, which are many

because they had succeeded in the altering of their status as a group and changing their lives of

In her essay she relates the rise of feminist consciousness in the 1960s to numerous changes in
American society, especially the rise of other protest movements. Echols said, On September 7,
1968, the sixties came to that most apple pie of American institutions, the Miss America Pageant
(Echols, 308). The reason she said this was because one hundred women s liberation activists
descended upon Atlantic City to protest the pageant s promotion of physical attractiveness as the
primary measure of women s worth. From there, the protestors set up a Freedom Trash Can and
filled it with high heeled shoes, bras, girdles, hair curlers, false eyelashes, typing books, and
representative copies of Cosmopolitan, Playboy, and Ladies Home Journal. They wanted to burn
the contents but couldn t because of the laws for bonfires on the boardwalk. Also, word had been
leaked to the press that there would be a symbolic bra burning. However, there were no bras burnt
that day. But the image of the bra burning, militant feminists remains part of our popular mythology
about the women s liberation movement. The Miss America demonstration represents an important
moment in the history of the sixties as well as the women s movement (Echols, 309 310). Although
the women s liberation movement only began to take shape toward the end of the decade, it was a
quintessentially sixties movement. The women s liberation movement alone carried on and

The Negligence Of The Case Drunk Driving
Unable to open my eyes, waking up trying to identify where I was, pedestrians stared, pointed and
yelled Oh! My god. Call 911 . Cars drove by. The sirens were heard but not spotted. What
Happened? Where was I? I wept as if the entire world, and all of its beauty, had come to an end.
And in a way, it had. On April 7, 1997 I was thrown from the backseat passenger side of a Nissan
Sentra onto the roadway of Old Town, Staten Island.
I couldn t recollect exactly what happened until I met with my lawyer who went over the details of
a drunk driver hitting my car. During the deposition my attorney obtained information from me to
prove the negligence of the defendant by claiming, the defendant negligent conduct in this case
drunk driving was the cause of harm to myself and my family. After this experience I was

need.

Stuff Is Not Salvation Essay
I have really enjoyed being in this English class. Just like the warning we got in the very
beginning, there has been a lot of writing. It was good for me though. I took English 101 over
the summer, but found I had quite a bit of writer s block. It was hard for me to get any kind of
energy to write. I found that interesting because I feel like I like writingis something that is
enjoyable to me. With this class, the activities put forth, meant to help us get the writing gears
moving, really worked for me. The first way we got a jump start was through the article
summary assignments based on articles pertaining to contemporary culture. In all honesty, some
of them did cause me to look at things with eyes I had not used before. One article in particular
that sticks out in my mind, is Stuff is Not Salvation, by Anna Quindlen. Through her use of
Ethos, she really brings to light how Americans have this ridiculous obsession with buying stuff.
She notes how we are trying to use junk to make ourselves happier, but in the end, as Anna puts

pg 503). Before reviewing this article, I considered myself someone who didn t necessarily NEED
stuff, but as the assignment went on, I realized how bad it really has gotten for us as a society.
Another article that really made me think was the argumentative article, In Defense of Sweatshops,
by Benjamin Powell. When I first read the title of

The Governmental Branches Of The United States Essay
Three governmental branches were created by the new constitution: an executive branch, a
judicial branch and a legislative branch. The constitution called for the election of a governor
and 24 senators and identified eligible voters as men who were possessed of freeholds of the
value of one hundred pounds, over and above all debts charged thereon. The constitution also
called for the election of 70 assemblymen for 14 declared counties who were to be elected by
male inhabitant of full age, who shall have personally resided within one of the counties of New
York State for six months immediately preceding the day of election. New York also guaranteed the
right to trial by jury, which had been eroded under British rule. The Constitution granted the
national government more power than under the Articles of Confederation. Many Americans were
concerned that the national government with its new powers, as well as the new division of power
between the central and state governments, would threaten liberty. Legislative Branch New York
State Legislature refers to the two houses that act as the state legislature of the U.S. state of New

book was published these claims seemed bold and extremely radical, in today s society we can
relate to Kuhn s views of scientific conduct. This was one of the most interesting and challenging
novels I have read so far in my academic career. I felt that it was extremely specific a very dense,
but at the same time very relatable. Being a sciencemajor my entire life, I had an interest before
even beginning the text, nonetheless while reading it. I thought the text was very enlightening
and in a manner eye opening. After reading Kuhn s book, my perspective of science has
completely changed. Kuhn s bold statements on the minor gaps that science leaves out even in its
most perfect and established form, provide a sense of guidance for his reasoning behind the
episodic natures of a scientific revolutions. Initially, I was a bit confused as to what Kuhn was
arguing for and what points he was making. I especially got lost when he began to dive into the
concept of paradigmatic science and research. But after talking about in lecture I had a much
clearer view of what the book was about and from what standpoint Kuhn was

While preparing the planned change, an organization must be able to identify its own culture.
According to Md Zabid Abdul Rashid, Sambasivan and Azmawani Abdul Rahman (2003)
organizational culture is associated with attitudes towards organizational change. Different types of
organizational culture have different level of acceptance on attitude towards organizational change.
Organizational culture gives impacts on organizational change process. While referring to the
transformational type of change, there is no doubt that the transformation process, which regarded
as the most complex and comprehensive type of change process requires radical shift that covers
change in culture, behaviour and mindset of all the components within the organization.
Thus it is clearly understood here that complete understanding of organizational culture will lead to
and rightful approaches to tackle any organizational development and change process.
Organizational culture decides the way its members make decisions, the way they make
interpretation, manage and operate. In other words, organizational culture affects organization s
competitive position. Inability to manage organizational culture will give negative consequences on
organization s performance.

Coach: Game to Win in Fashion
Introduction
Starting as a luxury retailer of handbags and accessories, having 17,200 employees, headquarter
located in New York, Coach now ranks No. 63 among the world s most valuable brands. It has an
estimated market capital of $11.7 billion as of May 2015, according to Forbes. Coach s products
range from handbags, gloves, hats, wallets, jewelry to perfume and body lotion.
Coach s vision says:
TO BECOME
THE COMPANY
That DEFINES GLOBAL
MODERN LUXURY.
In the recent years since 2010s, its product ranges have been especially diversified, because the
company is planning on transition into a premium lifestyle brand , meaning instead of defining
fashion in handbags, Coach now wants to define fashion in many other things.
Coach s vision and core values mainly derives from the time of its establishment. People then
value quality and authenticity very much, and they can use one handbag for many years. When
the bag gets scratched or the zip is broken somehow, they re also willing to go and fix it, just in
order to use it for a longer time, because they re emotionally connected to the brand, and the
handbag. All these values of that time allows Coach to survive and flourish rapidly, developing a
lot of loyal customers.
However, time changes, and Coach s first batch of customers are not the main group of people
paying for its products.
This paper mainly discusses coach s recent challenges

The Game Of Basketball Has Changed The Past
The game of basketball has had great players in the in the past. Consist of players from NBA and
around the world that play professionally. In my opinion the all time list: Kareem Abdul Jabbar,
Wilt Chamberlin, Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and
Larry Bird. At this moment the NBA is seeing newer talent rising like Jimmy Butler, Anthony
Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Hassan Whiteside. However, the players that I will be talking about
will be John Wall and Stephen Curry. The ultimate point guards in the league right know. With
the athleticism John Wall, jumping out the gym. Wall was the slam dunk contest champion
back in 2014. On the other hand, we have Stephen Curry, one of the greatest shooters ever. Curry
will make the defender look silly and hit a thirty feet three like a normal shoot. With the talent
both of this guys have I can talk about them all day however, we are also going to mention how
it all started, their childhood. We are also going to take a look at what shoe endorsements each
player has and how much it effects the sneaker heads. Initially, John Wall was born in Raleigh,
North Carolina on September 6, 1990. Lacking the presence of Wall s father created a young
guy that did not take adults telling him what to do. Due to his dad s in and out of prison and
death when Wall was only 8 years old. Wall s dad died of liver cancer a month later when he was
released from jail. With that being said, Wall s bad attitude throughout

The Pros And Cons Of Domestic Terrorism
In today s society domestic terrorism is one of the biggest threats to the United States. Some of
these recent terrorist attacks include. Domestic Terrorism is when U.S. citizens carry out terrorist
acts against other U.S. residents or groups. Many people think that the biggest threat of terrorism to
the U.S. is from a foreign country, when in fact, the bigger threat is closer to home. Domestic
terrorismis becoming a bigger threat to the U.S. than international terrorism and we need to find a
way to prevent these attacks.
Domestic terrorists are turning into such a bigger threat as there becomes more and more
dangerous domestic terrorist groups. For instance, right wing extremists are becoming more of a
danger that we can t ignore. As said by Kurt Eichenwald, [Timothy] McVeigh, the infamous anti
government extremist, murdered 168 people in 1995 when he detonated a truck bomb in front of
the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Like Timothy McVeigh, many U.S.
citizens have had violent disagreements about rights and freedoms with government officials,
which has caused many of these antigovernment extremist groups to form. According to Ron
Nixon, Mr. Ellison said, Right wing extremists have launched an average of 330 attacks a year
and killed about 250 people between 2002 and 2011. These are dangerous people. Right wing
extremists are becoming a bigger threat to our country. They are attacking and killing more people
every year and we need to find a

Anti-Semitic German Propaganda
During World War II, anti Semitic publications circulating throughout Germany display clear
evidence of pervading the minds of young German children. Julius Steicher, editor of Der Stumer
and the agent responsible for many of the anti Semitic publications (Mills), helped dramatically
initiate the German resistance toward Jewsearly on in a child s life. It is important to understand the
severity of anti Semitism taught to the future Nazi generation in order to maintain the National
Socialist state and further it s agenda. By examining the ideas, and publications aimed towards
children that express those ideals, it is clear that the National Socialist state wanted to indoctrinate a
hateful, militant agenda into young children. Ultimately, the final result was to maintain the
prejudice view that the Jewish people were the inferior race, and therefore the enemy for future
generations.
One of the chief ways to target young German children with Nazi propaganda was through the
school systems. A German educator wrote in The National Socialist Essence of Education, that
mathematics was Aryan spiritual property, an expression of the Nordic fighting spirit, of the
Nordic struggle for the supremacy in the world (Hirsch, 119). Children were given slogans to
learn and recite such as: Judas the Jew betrayed Jesus the German to the Jews (Mann, 90).
Furthermore, by 1937, about 97% of all teachers belonged to the National Socialist Teachers Union
(Mills). Established in 1929, the Union

  • 4. The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante... The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through life to salvation. The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins. Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark wood. All of the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept from experiences. Germany urged Austria Hungary to attack Serbia, but Russia stepped up to protect the country. Germany ambushed Belgium, and proceeded to Russia, throwing Great Britain into the war due to their alliance with Belgium. As a result, the continent of Europe, including Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Austria Hungary, and France, was plunged into a great World War. The war lasted from 1914 to 1918, and it left Germany singled out as the catalyst. In November 1918, Germany finally agreed to an Armistice, a halt in the fighting, but they did not consider themselves to be surrendering. At the time, the Germans believed that they would play a role in constructing the treaty that would end the war, but when the time came, they were not allowed to participate. Germany was greatly angered by this, but there was nothing that they could do for their army had been disarmed. They had two choices: sign the Treaty or be invaded by the Allies. It is the closest I can come to God (141). By stating this, Jack identities traditional religion as an obscure practice that he has no access to. Modern society proves not only unconquerable but also unconditionally opposed to the practices and ideals of traditional religion, which encourages humans that it is possible to believe in a higher power. Even the clergy, who are supposedly the most devout followers of religion, only pretend to believe. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of Macbeth, Malcolm, and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and obedience to their kingdom. Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have agency during his temptations. An arms race had been ongoing between the U.S. and Russia for some time. Reagan, however, was determined to put an end to it. Reagan began the competition with a very costly project known as the Strategic Defense Initiative, aimed at neutralizing incoming Soviet missiles. This shocked the Soviet Union, which was economically unable to match this rapid escalation of the arms race (CITE). After winning his second term as president, Ronald Reagan established what is now known as The Reagan Doctrine, which provided support, both financially and militarily, for anti communist fighters throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America (CITE). The policy s goal was to eliminate tyrannical governments and promote individual liberties, freedom, and democracy. The Reagan doctrine became the centerpiece of the Reagan administration by successfully stopping the Soviet Union from spreading its communist control over specific regions of the world. In 1985, a new leader by the name of Mikhail Gorbachev came to the political forefront of the Soviet Union. Reagan saw this as his final opportunity to completely destroy the threat of communism once and for all. Reagan and Gorbachev met ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies (transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching ( Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s murder. For instance, the x height has been adjusted to appear visually the same in all weights. The x heights in previous versions were all the same, but since type tends to look shorter as it gets heavier, the new x heights compensate for this optical illusion.
