Similarities And Differences Between Coming To America And...
The following essay will compare and contrast two cultural productions that represent and depict
Africa. The films "Coming to America" by John Landis and "The Gods Must Be Crazy" by Jamie
Uys have similarities and differences according to the meaning of Africa. The similarities of these
films are the use of the current English language, religion, comedy relief, traditions, and
interpretation of Africans "single story". The differences of these films are the time period,
locations, clothing, articulation, and reputation. The cultural productions of "Coming to America"
and "The Gods Must Be Crazy" can be compared and contrasted because both films exhibit a
relationship that depicts how we think about Africa not as a place, but as people as a whole in the
modern world. The depiction of the movie "Coming to America" and "The God Must Be Crazy" can
be compared and contrasted on the films locations. In "Coming to America" Prince Akeem Joffer is
from the nation of Zamunda, which is a fictional location. This location is only seen in the beginning
and end of the film. The nation of Zamunda depicts the idea of Africa as a land of substantial wealth.
In addition, Africa as people has the highest level of status and rights like having arranged
marriages. In contrast, "The Gods Must Be Crazy" is set in Botswana, South Africa in the Kalahari
Desert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when the radio announcement plays during the tribune riding with as army plays it
mentions " Anyone withholding information which could lead to their capture..." is subtle in
approaching defining the single story of Africa. This brings many meanings of the colonial labor
forces that Africans were common to serving under. As a result, the deaths seen on film are rather
critical and relevant to recognizing the meaning of Africa's labor forced because it served a purpose
for developing the ideas about the single

Personal Narrative: My Band Experience
I walked through the crowded hallway to social studies. 30 more minutes! I thought to myself. My
heart began pounding in my ears; my hands were beginning to cover with sweat. I walked into social
studies where I had never felt nervous before. "Kenzie! Was your band audition hard? Is Mr. Arnold
scary?" I asked my fellow trombonist. "No, you will be fine! I was way more nervous than I should
have been," Kenzie replied. "But what if I didn't practice? Will I still be fine?" "Um...I'm guessing
that practicing may have helped." My mind filled with thoughts of regret, making me even more
nervous. Why didn't you practice? It would have made it much easier for you! The bell rang and Ms.
Ibs began to write notes on the board. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I finished the whole packet, which was quite a feat and would most likely help me to make a higher
band. A short glance up at the clock told me that this audition had only lasted eight minutes. I cannot
believe I finished in eight minutes! "Good job, Sara!" congratulated Mr. Arnold. "Thank you!" I
replied. I spoke with no hesitation and no lack of confidence. It was over, and I was finally able to
release a sigh of relief. I walked out of the room with my legs no longer shaking. There was a wide
smile on my face. The next person walked into the band room. "Good luck!" I said with a smile, "It's
not as bad as you think!" "Thanks!" I was hoping this would make him more confident; a feeling I
wished I had felt before my audition. I walked out of the band room and walked back to social
studies. "How did it go?" asked Heidi. "Actually, pretty good. Despite the fact that I didn't practice."
We both laughed. I went back to normal for the rest of the day. No more sweat, no more shaking
hands, and no more anxiousness. Although my audition went pretty great, I still learned that I should
practice more before my assessments. That feeling of unpreparedness was one I would not like to

This Is Audie Murphy Essay
This is Audie Murphy's life story. At the tender age of 12, he becomes the head of the family after
his father deserts them. He joins the army at the age of 18 and through the course of the war is
decorated for valor nine times thus becoming the most decorated combat soldier in World War II.
Audie does one of the bravest acts any soldier ever did during the war. He climbs aboard a burning
tank destroyer and single handedly keeps the enemy from advancing on his position. He spends
almost an hour on top of the tank destroyer until his ammunition is exhausted. Seconds later after
climbing off the tank destroyer, it explodes. For this action, Audie receives the Medal of Honor.

Analysis Of The Movie Interstellar
Interstellar
"Interstellar" (Obst, Thomas & Nolan, 2014) a terrific science fiction story with various elements. A
story about love, family, and friends, but there happens to be a villain whose actions result in
shocking consequences for the other characters. There's a great amount of emotion expressed by
each character, which makes a great impact on how the film's viewed. Escorting us through
wormholes, into planets in other galaxies, and black holes. The characters keep colliding into the
properties of relativity, which thoroughly clarified in numerous scenarios. The movie proceeds
sometime in the future where the Earth is slowly becoming uninhabitable for the reason of a global
crop plague, in addition to a second dust bowl occurring. The science fiction movie "Interstellar"
(Obst, Thomas & Nolan, 2014) does an excellent job portraying advancements in technology,
astrophysics and real–life issues that could eventually happen, such as food scarcity and catastrophic
natural disasters.
To begin with, the advancements in the movie remains comparable towards today's technology, but
there are a few advances that happen to be far off from doing. The movie offers us an insight of
what mankind can accomplish if we turn in the right direction. "Interstellar" (Obst, Thomas &
Nolan, 2014) shows space stations that sustain a large amount of human life to create or prepare for
the next generation to come. Demonstrates how robots can help grow and maintain crops, also

Many soldiers lost their lives, but they were few soldiers that fought with the valor of Audie
Murphy. In January 1945, German forces attacked Company B, 15th Regiment, 3rd infantry division
in Holtzwihr. Approximately 250 German soldiers were heading towards the Bois de Reidwihr
which they had planned to seize. The Americans felt unprepared when they discovered the presence
of the German forces, so they decided to fall back. However, Audie Murphy decided to move
forward and fight. He drew a .50 caliber and started shooting Germans as he believed that German
advancements in this area needed to be stopped at all costs. This German infantryman were as close
as 10 yards from Lieutenant Murphy, but he kept shooting at German infantry bodies. The bravery
Murphy presented at Holtzwihr earned him the medal of honor.
c. Murphy's valor came to a test when his battalion headed to Anzio. The Germans received an
unexpected advantage because of a missed landing of American troops. The Germans moved
125,000 troops to position and attacked allied soldiers with artillery. Their commander got wounded,
but Audie Murphy stepped up to lead his company during the enemies heavy fire. In recognition of
his leadership efforts, Murphy got promoted to platoon leader and later earned a Bronze star in
March 1994 for destroying a German tank on his own. He contributed significantly to several

A Person 's Environment Is The Same Opportunity At The End...
Every person struggle is different. Some have worked sweat and tears for their achievements while
others have had things just handed to them and do not really know the struggle of hard work. Some
people work as hard as they can and at the end of the day, they still cannot seem to succeed, as they
would like to. They can work hard, live a good legal life, and yet still cannot make ends meet at the
end of the day. The film "Trading places," and the Not everybody in America has the same
opportunity to be successful because one person's environment may be much rougher than another
person environment. A person's environment is a key factor in their success. A person born into
poverty is going to have a much harder time to get ahead than a person that is born into a wealthy
family or environment. It is as if they are already in a negative situation before they even have a
chance to begin life. A person born into poverty doesn't have that extra time to do homework at
home because they might have to be home taking care of other siblings while guardians are at work.
Sometimes they might not even be at home babysitting; they might have to get a job themselves
because the money situation is so tight at home. While a person born to a wealthier family has that
extra time to study, that person has the extra time to participate in extracurricular activities that
might be a key to success. They do not have to worry about little things, which allow them to
concentrate all of their time,

The Movie ' Scream Queens '
From "Sons of Anarchy" to "Nip Tuck", FX has created popular TV dramas over the years.
However, none of them has had such significant popularity as Ryan Murphy's "American Horror
Story", known for its blood and gore, and "Glee" known for its sharp social commentary. The
creation of these TV series led to the drastic rise to stardom of Ryan Murphy's career. Though
"Glee's" stint on TV has ended, it was a highly acclaimed series with high ratings. Today, "American
Horror Story", his project following "Glee", is now one of TV's highest rated series, which is an
especially peculiar accomplishment for a TV series of this genre. Therefore, when the creation of a

Similar to Sontag's "Notes On Camp", which "proposes a comic vision of the world" (Sontag 288),
Ryan Murphy's "Scream Queens" utilizes comedy to portray issues prevalent in society today. By
"dethroning the serious" (Sontag 288) and being "playful" (Sontag 288) and "anti–serious" (Sontag
288), "Scream Queens" effectively accomplishes this feat. The TV series "Scream Queens", deals
with numerous social issues in society such as homosexuality, racism and eating disorders.
However, through its comedy and lack of seriousness, this series is able to provide a sense of
bluntness and harsh reality of these issues. By adopting this unique approach, this TV series' use of
comedy works, as it depicts these social issues in its true light, which many believe are non–
existent, subsequently leading to society's ability to tackle these issues directly and 'head on'.
A serious issue of today's society, which is referenced in the TV series "Scream Queens" is
homophobia. In the show, actress Jenna Han who portrays the character Sam on the TV show, is
bullied as a result of her sexuality. Other characters on the show nicknamed Sam "The Predatory
Lez,'" as a result of Sam being a lesbian. The show attempts to highlight the struggles experienced
by homosexuals in a comedic fashion. Nick Jonas' character, Boone, like Jenna Han's character,
Sam, highlights the struggle homosexuals experience in an attempt to be accepted by society. Boone
attempts to fit into a fraternity house by

Harvey 2
In his self entitled book, To Hell and Back, Audie Murphy shed a little light on how his leadership
looked at him early on in his career at the beginning of the war: "My company commander, looking
at my thin frame and cursed baby face, decides that the front is no place for me. He has me
transferred to headquarters to serve as a runner. I should be grateful, but I am NOT. I am constantly
sneaking off with patrols and scouting parties. The company commander finally calls me to the
carpet. "I hear you can't stay away from the front Murphy". "Yes sir" I replied. "What's wrong with
you? You want to get killed?". "No sir". "Now I'm going to do myself a favor. I'm putting you back
in the lines and you'll stay there until you're so sick of action you want to vomit". (2)
Audie Murphy, never one to back down from the challenge took his duties seriously and understood
that the cost of unpreparedness would lead to certain death on the battlefield during the war and
because he was so underestimated there was always a chip on his shoulder. After returning to the
front line he became very ill and a major saw him on the side of the road puking. The major told him
that he needed to go and see a medic. Audie Murphy told him that he would, but instead returned to
his men and after a week he finally passed out and woke up in the aid station. By the time Audie
Murphy was 19, he would be a second lieutenant on the front lines in France fighting off a company

Why Women Should Not Have Political Rights
During the late 19th and 20th century, many political and social events like the persons case,
suffrage, and both world wars aided in transforming Canada 's meaning and purpose for a woman.
Many political figures like Emily Murphy and Alberta 's Famous Five played large roles in
characterizing the rights and freedoms of a woman. Secondly, the roaring twenties was a time for
females to challenge their traditional roles and prove that they have much broader capabilities than
to stay at home. Finally, women began to fill the gap of men in the workforce and assisted overseas
during the world wars. Both world wars served to shift gender roles in Canada since women in
Canada participated in non–traditional roles and gained political rights.
One of Canada 's most influential figures of the 1920 's that shifted gender roles and the way women
are portrayed was Alberta 's Famous Five. The famous five which included the likes of Nellie
McClung, Emily Murphy, Louise McKinney, Irene Parlby, and Menrietta Edwards, changed the
notion that women should not have political rights. For one achievement, a member of the famous
five by the name of Nellie McClung made great changes in granting women rights. Nellie McClung
started a movement to gain women's suffrage and strongly supported prohibition. Nellie was
successful with women's suffrage, but later lost her legal seat as a punishment for supporting
prohibition. "Women had first to convince the world that they had souls, and then that they

A Short Story : The Story Of My Life
I always knew that one day, my worst fear would be realized....yet when it did come, I was no where
near ready to accept it.
I understand psychologically that every one and every animal dies... that's life. But, the heart only
feels loss and pain when someone to whom you have given your life to, dies. I say someone as
though I'm speaking about a person, but, I speak of Gizzy, my 13 year old adorable long–haired
Chihuahua, who to me, was every bit as much a fun–loving, heart–beating, personality–filled
happy–go–lucky human being.
I don't know what it feels like to lose a child but I can only fathom that the pain I felt and continue
to feel is a close second to that. I could not imagine my life without my son in it and I'm finding my
life without Gizzy at times, overwhelming even after 6 months.
Gizzy passed away on April 20, 2017 and my life has not been the same since. At first, I could not
function – at all. Richard, my love, had to pick up the pieces of life around me even though he
himself was hurting from the loss.
Richard wanted nothing to do with Gizzy when I first met him but, as was the personality of this
little being, he captured Rich's heart in a way that completely changed him forever. The love they
had for each other was deep and every bit as mutual. It was at this time that I understood why I
loved this man. He completely got me.
Gizzy had had a bad year. We knew he had a heart murmur and he was taking medication to help his
heart function better but when

you can watch with family. It's a movie that not only entertains, but it also teaches valuable lessons.
Shrek puts the viewers in awe and gets them excited, so this movie is definitely worth watching!
One of the main themes in this movie is the acceptance of people for who they truly are. In this
movie we witness a lot of prejudice, or just assumptions. People assume that because someone looks
a certain way that they are dangerous. Appearances are deceiving, and this movie shows us exactly
that. To begin, you should all know that Shrek is not your normal fairytale. This ... Show more

Navomi Ipe, otherwise known as Baby Kochamma, is an antagonist in the novel. Growing up in a
traditional family, she developed a strong belief that their practices, the caste and marriage, are
correct and are meant to be followed, strictly. A materialistic and selfish person but a smart one.
Shaped by tradition, Baby Kochamma dislikes Ammu and her children as it is implied in this line
"words could not describe Baby Kochamma's outrage. "(22). Most of the time taking glee on their
unhappiness. Described as young, slender, and attractive when she was 18 years old, an honest

HIST 3343
By this time Detroit had become the epicenter of the American automobile. Detroit's grand
boulevards, were now lost in this ever expanding industrial Mecca. Detroit was home to some of
America's biggest names in automotives, including Walter Chrysler, The Dodge Brothers, and the
outspoken Henry Ford. Workers in these factories often earned more in wages than many unskilled
labor positions around the country. As news of the high–wage jobs in the up–and–coming motor city
made its way around the country, migrants began to flood the city in hopes of a better life.
Overcrowding among blacks and the have–nots of society was a harsh reality in Detroit's inner city
ghetto, which went by the name of Black Bottom. Several families would cram into single family
flats, often grateful to even have a place to stay. Many made due without luxuries like running water,
and disease ran rampant along the dirty over–crowded streets. This migration was not often
welcomed among white Detroiters. A message of "One Hundred Percent Americanism" was being
spread and upheld by the Ku Klux Klan, and Negroes were not Americans. Many white Detroiters,
whether they were with the KKK or not, felt that segregation was the way it should be. They feared
that if blacks were to breach the color line into white neighborhoods then property values would
plummet, real estate agents would not show the houses and the neighborhood would be ultimately

Audie Murphys Legend
The first sentence of Audie Murphy's biography reads, "Audie Leon Murphy was a legend in his
own time" ("Sergeant Audie Murphy Award," 2015), a seemingly fitting introduction for one of the
bravest combat soldiers in our nation's history. Never the less, I believe it simply does not do him
the justice he earned. Audie Murphy was not just a legend in his own time; he is a legend today, and
remains a legend of the future. Many people recognize his famed name and know him to be a war
hero. Nevertheless, most are not fully educated on the "legend" that was, is, and always will be
Audie Murphy. I, for one, intend to portray this American hero's story to as many people as possible.

Billy The Kid Short Story
The Death of Billy the Kid
In the period time from 1865– 1890, the Plain and Indian War. It started when the Americans wanted
to expand to the Great Plains. The only problem was that the Indians lived there. In addition, the
government decided to move them to reservations that were small and farming was not possible
because the land was dry. The Indians fought for their lands and some of those battles were the
Battle of the Little Bighorn, Wounded Knee, and the Sand Creek Massacre. Furthermore, after the
Indians lost, the government gave them the opportunity to become and live like white settlers. For
that, they will have to give up on their culture, traditions, and language. Furthermore, while the
Plain and Indian Wars was going on, in the Wild West Billy the Kid was becoming a legend. In

The Famous Five and the Persons Case Essay
What if you did not count as a person anymore? You would be denied of many rights and freedoms
we take for granted today. This was the situation women faced in the past. Before 1929, women
didn't count as "persons". Although they weren't denied of all their rights, women weren't allowed to
become senators. Five women in Alberta decided to take action and formed the Famous Five. The
Famous Five fought for the rights of women by winning the Persons Case and they're the reason
why women are considered persons today. The Famous Five are prominent people in Canadian
history and they have established many of our rights. The Famous Five consists of Emily Murphy,

They decided the question to be asked was "Does the word 'person' in section 24 of the BNAAct
include female persons?" (Section 15, 2004). Unfortunately, in 1928, the Supreme Court of Canada
answers this question with no; women weren't persons. The judges of the Supreme Court stated that
when the BNAAct was written, women weren't allowed vote or run for office and the British House
of Lords had no females (Alberta Online Encyclopedia, 2004). Therefore, women didn't count as
"persons". However, the Famous Five weren't satisfied with the answer they got and decided to
continue working on the case. The Famous Five decided to appeal to the decision made by the
Supreme Court of Canada with the support of Prime Minister Mackenzie King. The Famous Five
appealed to the Judicial Committee and Privy Council of England. In 1929, the British Privy
Council declared women as "persons". They stated that the constitution is a "living tree" and should
change according to the time (Creating Canada, page 154). In conclusion, the victory of the Persons
Case contributed to the importance of women and opened the door to many rights. After women
were declared as persons, women's role in society increased. Although none of the Famous Five was
appointed as a senator, Carine Wilson became the first female senator 1 year later. Also, the Persons

"Inception is a film that explores the many natures of the mind. In a world where technology exists
to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a highly skilled thief is given a final chance at
redemption which involves executing his toughest job to date: Inception" (IMBD). The main
philosophical theme in this movie is "What is Reality". As Plato said, "How exactly can we explain
our perceptions of reality?" (Plato). In the movie Mal and Cobb are in limbo but commit suicide and
by dying they both wake up having entered the real world. This makes them wonder what is reality?
After waking up Cobb believed that they were in the actual

Analysis Of The Poem ' I Hell And Back '
Audie Murphy, one of the most well–recognized and most decorated soldiers of the United States
Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him respect and awards. The first,
his efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross.
The second, in a battle outside of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are
these events well documented for official records, they appear in his "autobiography" To Hell and
Back, ghostwritten by David "Spec" McClure with Murphy providing details, along with various
sources which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who served with Murphy which
they gave for his medal citations, and a recently published History of ... Show more content on

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also of Company B.
Not mentioned in Hollen's account was Murphy's killing of two Germans who he stumbled across
before finding the light machine–gun, a fact which both Smith's and Graham's accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for
Tipton's death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy's assertion of
machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton's death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the
house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The
Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton's death.
Two schools of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of
reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun,
contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy's and Graham's accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and
Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of
surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham all agree that Murphy carried a German
machine gun which he had captured "like a BAR" and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the
hill. This detail wasn't mentioned by Hollen, who

The Valiant Five
The Famous Five, or Valiant Five, was not only made up of five strong, independent women, but
five role models. It started with Emily Murphy, a bright woman from Cookstown, Ontario, who was
determined to make a difference for women all over Canada. She enlisted four other activists, Nellie
McClung, Louise McKinney, Henrietta Edwards, and Irene Parlby, who would help her on her
journey to get women legally recognised as "persons" in Canada. Although the five made history
together, they each have very unique backstories and each of these women have helped to make a
significant difference in the lives of women for many years to come.
Emily Murphy was a women's rights activist and a feminist. She made history by becoming the first
female judge in Canada for the British Empire, which opened numerous opportunities for other
women. She challenged the idea that women were more than just housewives. Before this
movement, though, she was a writer, best known for her humour and great concern for the welfare
of women and children. After Murphy got married, her and her husband took a trip to the
countryside, where she encountered a women who had been left in poverty due to her husband
selling her family farm that she had been working on for some 18 years. Upon hearing this, Murphy

She was a political activist and as a feminist, she questioned the traditional roles of women. As a
school teacher, McClung didn't believe that certain sports were for men, and certain sports were for

believe in the same thing, so she would take them outside during recess and play football with them,
which was not seen as a "sport for ladies" at the time. Her views on gender roles pushed her to speak
out on the issue of equality. She decided to campaign on the topic of women suffrage and as a result,
women were able to vote in

Ada's Metamorphosis to Independent Woman in Cold Mountain
As Ada arrives at Black Cove, she and her father are completely unprepared for a life of
independence. The ride there becomes the first of their problems. A new horse and cabriolet were
purchased for the trip, but that was their first mistake. "The rain fell aslant, coming at their faces so
that the top of the carriage did little good in sheltering them from it" (55). Monroe, Ada's father, had
no idea on how to get to Cold Mountain, and "At each fork, Monroe simply guessed at the route
they ought to take" (55). Ada's life in Charleston was one of aristocracy. She enjoyed balls, parties,

"Ada told Ruby that she envied her knowledge of how the world runs" (137). Ruby also teaches Ada
about home remedies and new ways of doing things around the house.
Ada learns from Ruby about the nature of the world. "You commence by trying to see what likes
what, Ruby said. Which Ada interpreted to mean, Observe and understand the workings of affinity
in nature" (138). Slowly Ada learns how to run the farm and live off its offerings. She begins to see
things that she might not have noticed before. As a heron flies over her head she wonders if the
sighting is "A blessing? A warning beacon? Picket of the spirit world?" (193). She jots down the
incident in her journal, drawing pictures of the bird and maybe other associated objects. She even
says to herself "I am living a life now where I keep account of the doings of particular birds" (239).
She is observing, and learning from, nature in its purest forms.
It is easily seen that Ada acquires something of an understanding of nature in its purest forms. She is
no longer afraid to do things that might seem 'unladylike'. Ruby dangled her feet over the edge of
the hayloft. Ada had never known a grown woman to do that, but "Ruby looked at her with some
amusement, as if to say, I can do this because I have never been proper, and you can do it because
you have recently quit being so" (288). The way Ada draws and

Rhetorical Analysis: The Perfect Body
Body Confidence To feel body confident, you need to be happy with who you are as a women with
or without curves. Many women in this century are facing a lack of confidence by the way they
look. Women may lower their self esteem by seeing another women with a beautiful feature and
compare their look with someone else. A women's body image is based on thoughts and feelings
regarding the way her body looks. Sometimes, they also believe other people are judging their
appearance which can affect their body image. Victoria's Secret unveiled their campaign slogan the
"Perfect Body" with an image of tall and skinny models. However, Curvy Kate, a lingerie brand,
recreates an image using models of all shapes and sizes mocking the Victoria's Secrets slogan. I
argue that the Victoria's Secret slogan, "The Perfect Body" shouldn't symbolize their tall physique
models by aiming for women with a smaller waist size. The advertisement shows its audience that

Reflection On The Lense Of Faith
We are told to follow the things that set our souls on fire. pressured to find something that brings us
more joy than anything else. We are barred at a young age with the responsibility of finding our
calling before we even know what it is. As a 15 year old girl, I didn't know where to find this fire or
even where to find my calling in the world. I was convinced one didn't exist, I was convinced that it
was me against the world. It was me against the 7 billion screaming people trying to find their
footing, and I felt like I didn't have a voice loud enough or feet big enough to ever do this. I felt like
the world was suffocating me and there was never going to be a chance for another breath of air. All
I could understand from the world, was we live, we suffer, we grow old and we die.
Through the lens of conformity, one blinded by worldly desires, it is incredible how much we cannot
see, and surprising how much we can see. But when we open our hearts and put on a lens of faith we
can slowly begin to see what has been in front of us all along. For me, this was a world full of light,
peace, and pure joy.
I first put on a lense of faith on May 14, 2016, my 16th birthday, when I first read the Book of
Mormon and went to church. I was later baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 19, 2017.
I was born on Mother's Day of 2000. My parents would tell you that I was a force of nature, one
they often feared to recon with.

My Family Essay
I grew up in a small family in India. There were a plenty of things that I was able to learn from my
family. I wouldn't be here, where I am now, without my family. Family defines the most important
things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they learn.
I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to
America, the land of dreams." I was only thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own
country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. When I came to know this, it was

It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that
transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, "A
community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family
wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester
at Holy Family University, I am able to see how supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are.
They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we
moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the
nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully,
we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous
divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces.

Film Analysis Of The Movie Inception
The film Inception captured the imagination of many spectators as one of the best science fiction
and thriller movies to be produced that year. It was produced and directed by Christopher Nolan
who also directed The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Inception is based on the basic
inspiration that a single idea in an individual's mind can be either the most valuable asset or the most
dangerous weapon.
Inception is a science fiction thriller movie. This genre deals with situations and technology that
would be classified as scientific, but does not exist in real life. Inception connects with this because
of the technology they used to enter the dreams. Although it was never explained, the machine
seems to pump somnacin into the body. Somnacin is a drug utilized to initiate dream sharing and
lucid dreaming. The movie is also classified as a thriller because of the exciting plot. It has intense
chase scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for
the movie based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away
from his family and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer
the statement "your mind is the scene of the crime" is shown, this indicates that most of the content
will be in the dreams of the subject.
Inception is about as many as four levels of dreams within dreams, and dreams that eclipse reality.

The Greatest Heroes Of The War
Born on June 20th of 1925 to a family of poor sharecroppers in small town Texas, Audie Leon
Murphy had no idea he would soon be leaving for the deadliest war to ever plague the Earth. Fresh
out of the horrors of the First World War, few would have thought that yet another, deadlier war was
on the horizon. Even fewer would've thought that a farm boy from Texas would become one of the
greatest heroes of the war.
Audie Murphy was by all accounts a nobody. He and his family lived a quiet life, sticking to
themselves and their farms. A young Murphy would simply help outside with the farm work, almost
never wanting to be indoors. Once the war broke out, Murphy felt called to serve his country. He
tried on several occasions to enlist in the Armed Forces underage as he was not of legal age to enlist.
With the help of his sister, Corrine, he successfully enlisted in the military at the age of 17. He was
given basic training, which he completed with ease.
Audie Murphy's first war experience was in North Africa during the Allied offensive to remove Axis
forces from the top of Africa. North Africa was a very important strategic point for both forces. If
the Allies were successful in their push for control, it would be a very important starting point for an
invasion of Fascist Italy, and ultimately Nazi Germany. Murphy's unit, however, saw no combat in
North Africa due to the expulsion of Axis Forces from their final African foothold of Tunisia.

There were many war heroes in WW2 but there is one that stands out the most from the Allied

world with everything that he did in his 18 month career. With all his medals that he won and war

who Mr. murphy is they all know. All because of stuff like this also that kids are learning about his

his own. In an effort to draw attention to the problems of returning Korean War and Vietnam War

out of the campus and began walking down the sidewalk towards home. The air was chilly and the
leaves were beginning to shed their emerald green gowns for scarlet, gold, and, fiery orange. The
boys were in good spirits and they walked briskly down the walkway. Before long, the houses had

"Oh, no," one of the boys groaned as he stopped in his tracks.

the sound of machine gun fire; you and your men are pinned down with no help en route. As you
rush forward, sliding in amongst your men, you see the fear in their eyes. If ever there was a now or
never moment, now is it. With no regard for your own safety, you slam a fresh magazine in your
carbine, grab two grenades and charge around the farmhouse between you and the machine gun nest.
You quickly find yourself separated from your men; the only option is ... Show more content on

By taking the lead and directing the assault on the machine gun nest from the point position, Sgt
Murphy provided a focus point for his men to rise to the occasion and press forward when they had
little, to no motivation to continue. At this point in time, this type of leadership trait was visionary in
respect to how military leaders were trained to behave thus successfully removing the status quo. We
can also see that when applying the concept of Emotional Flexibility in regards to the Three
Elements of Adaptability (BCEE, 2014b, p. 6–7), Sgt Murphy was able to control not only his own
emotions in regards to fear, apprehension, and concern. But he was able to assess his men's
emotional situation and concentrate them on the act of completing the mission. In a passage from
Audie Murphy's Autobiography, To Hell and Back, "For the first time in the war, I refuse to accept
facts. While Brandon grows cold beneath my hand, I keep telling myself, 'He is not dead. He can't
be dead, because if he is dead, the war is all wrong; and Brandon has died in vain.'" (A. Murphy,
1949, p. 177). It was at this point when Audie Murphy moved forward to finish the attack on the
German machine gun nest. Audie Murphy suppressed his urge of fear in order to adapt to the
situation at hand. If he had not adapted to this situation, and been able to provide an inspirational
example to his

Suicides-Personal Narrative
It's been over two weeks and Evan is still not sure what he's gotten himself into and the only one to
blame is himself and his wired therapy letters. So now where is he? Oh yeah, pretending to be
Connor Murphy's best friend because his parents thought he wrote a suicide note to Evan. And of
course, he just went with it. Told the Murphy's all about his great friendship with their son who was
surely going to kill him once he woke up. Evan would love it if the ground could just open up and
swallow him whole. His phone ringing interrupts his daydream about no longer existing. Evan pulls
his phone out of his pocket and blanches when he sees it's Mrs. Murphy. "H–hello?" he answers
cautiously. Maybe it was just a pocket dial, maybe he could just avoid the Murphy's forever.
"Evan?" She sounds concerned and tired like she has for the last few weeks, but now there's some
relief in her voice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That's your sister over there." Connor looks over at the girl in the chair, trying to put together why
his own sister would look so annoyed to be here. They must either hate each other or she despises
hospitals as much as he does himself. Maybe both. Connor glances back at the boy in the chair and
raises an eyebrow. Evan waves back lamely, shoulders hunched in and leg bouncing nervously. His
mom looks back and forth between them before glancing at his dad. "Larry, why don't we go see
what we can get Connor to eat. Zoe, could you try to find some coffee?" The two in question look
up from what they're busying themselves with. They look at Connor and then Evan and seem to get
what his mom wants because they both start to collect their things. His sister looks even more
annoyed at this and his dad grumbles something under his breath but they still comply. "We'll be
back in just a little bit." his mom promises. "Give you some time to talk or whatever you need to

Bullying In Erin Murphy's White Lies
One of my most loathed singers, Taylor Swift, once stated, "If they don 't like you for being
yourself, be yourself even more." However, in Erin Murphy's 'White Lies', this is not the case for
young Connie, who was a quiet albino girl, new to Arpi's school. Regardless of her desperate efforts
to be accepted by her classmates, they were not warming up to her. Taking action, her mother helped
Connie figure out a way to make her classmates talk to her and like her. I agree with her mother's
decision to help her daughter, even if it wasn't the truth. Bullying is becoming an increasingly
important problem for parents, school administrators and teachers on a vast scale. I cannot imagine
how my parents felt when they discovered I was being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every move I made on and off the court from making a terrible pass or even when I would sneeze or
laugh was ridiculed. There was no escape. That loud, brain–rattling bell that signaled the end of the
class was my hero, my white knight. I could have my clothes changed, hair combed to perfection
and books packed away by the time it rang. No matter how fast I would run out of the locker room,
it was never fast enough. This cycle continued for a few weeks or so and only really got to me when
they started calling me names. My favorite of the bunch was "scoreboard". There was one
unfortunate practice where I tried to pass the ball and somehow managed to shoot it up and away
from the court into the... you guessed it, scoreboard. Already mortified, it didn't help when I was
changing clothes that my ears rang with the sound of their chanting, "Scoreboard. Scoreboard.
Scoreboard." Unable to help myself I ran into one of the bathroom stalls my cheeks stained with
tears and my eyes flowing like a mountain stream. It did not end there. Before school the next day,
my father dropped me off at school early for tutorials. My parents have been divorced for almost 13
years which sparked confusion in me when my mother texted me saying she was picking me up and
for me not to go to first period, which was volleyball. It was not until we arrived at the Cracker
Barrel almost 20 minutes away that my mother asked me. "Are you okay? What's been going on in
first period?", she questioned

Descriptive Essay About My Birthday
It was a beautiful morning on July 5th, 2015. Nine days until my birthday! Outside the birds were
chirping and the sun was beaming through my window. I had just woken up as my mom came into
my room, telling me to come downstairs for a surprise. In my mind, I was thinking that something
arrived from Amazon and they decided to give it to me now. After lying in bed for a little while on
my phone, I decided to get up. I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and went downstairs to see what this
was all about. Right when I turned the corner into the kitchen, I saw a poster board that said
"SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on it. Next to the sign, there was a food bowl and a dog cage. I
immediately knew that it had something to do with a dog, but I didn't know ... Show more content

"Sounds wonderful, there 's just a few things you need to know."
"Okay" My mom replied.
"If he gets a little hyper, give him this medicine to calm him down" He replied as he handed over the
medicine. "Got it, anything else?" "One more thing. You have to brush him very often because his
fur gets tangled after a while."
"Okay thanks, we are gonna get him."
"Great! I have some forms that you have to fill out before you leave." He exclaimed. I was so happy.
After my parents got done paying and getting his forms, we headed back home! When we got in the
car, my parents told me we have to go get a carrier so he doesn't slide around in the car and get hurt.
On the way to the store, he was shaking like he was scared, and I had a feeling he didn't like being
in a car. When we got to Lowes, my mom and I stayed in the car with Murphy while my dad went in
to get the carrier. About 15 minutes later, my dad came out with a small carrier. It was blue, with
black edges. It was perfect! When my dad got in the car, he gave me the carrier and I put Murphy in.
Murphy crawled in the back corner which I thought was kinda weird, but I guess he must feel safer
there. I kept wanting to take him out and hold him, but my parents said that we should keep him in
his carrier.
Once we got home, I put him on the leash and took him out in the backyard to play with him. I gave
him a little plastic ball to play with, and he loved it! He was like a soccer player when he played

  • 1. Similarities And Differences Between Coming To America And... The following essay will compare and contrast two cultural productions that represent and depict Africa. The films "Coming to America" by John Landis and "The Gods Must Be Crazy" by Jamie Uys have similarities and differences according to the meaning of Africa. The similarities of these films are the use of the current English language, religion, comedy relief, traditions, and interpretation of Africans "single story". The differences of these films are the time period, locations, clothing, articulation, and reputation. The cultural productions of "Coming to America" and "The Gods Must Be Crazy" can be compared and contrasted because both films exhibit a relationship that depicts how we think about Africa not as a place, but as people as a whole in the modern world. The depiction of the movie "Coming to America" and "The God Must Be Crazy" can be compared and contrasted on the films locations. In "Coming to America" Prince Akeem Joffer is from the nation of Zamunda, which is a fictional location. This location is only seen in the beginning and end of the film. The nation of Zamunda depicts the idea of Africa as a land of substantial wealth. In addition, Africa as people has the highest level of status and rights like having arranged marriages. In contrast, "The Gods Must Be Crazy" is set in Botswana, South Africa in the Kalahari Desert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when the radio announcement plays during the tribune riding with as army plays it mentions " Anyone withholding information which could lead to their capture..." is subtle in approaching defining the single story of Africa. This brings many meanings of the colonial labor forces that Africans were common to serving under. As a result, the deaths seen on film are rather critical and relevant to recognizing the meaning of Africa's labor forced because it served a purpose for developing the ideas about the single ... My heart began pounding in my ears; my hands were beginning to cover with sweat. I walked into social studies where I had never felt nervous before. "Kenzie! Was your band audition hard? Is Mr. Arnold scary?" I asked my fellow trombonist. "No, you will be fine! I was way more nervous than I should have been," Kenzie replied. "But what if I didn't practice? Will I still be fine?" "Um...I'm guessing that practicing may have helped." My mind filled with thoughts of regret, making me even more nervous. Why didn't you practice? It would have made it much easier for you! I cannot believe I finished in eight minutes! "Good job, Sara!" congratulated Mr. Arnold. "Thank you!" I replied. I spoke with no hesitation and no lack of confidence. It was over, and I was finally able to release a sigh of relief. I walked out of the room with my legs no longer shaking. There was a wide smile on my face. The next person walked into the band room. "Good luck!" I said with a smile, "It's not as bad as you think!" "Thanks!" I was hoping this would make him more confident; a feeling I wished I had felt before my audition. I walked out of the band room and walked back to social studies. "How did it go?" asked Heidi. "Actually, pretty good. Despite the fact that I didn't practice." We both laughed. I went back to normal for the rest of the day. No more sweat, no more shaking hands, and no more anxiousness. The TV series "Scream Queens", deals with numerous social issues in society such as homosexuality, racism and eating disorders. However, through its comedy and lack of seriousness, this series is able to provide a sense of bluntness and harsh reality of these issues. By adopting this unique approach, this TV series' use of comedy works, as it depicts these social issues in its true light, which many believe are non– existent, subsequently leading to society's ability to tackle these issues directly and 'head on'. Detroit's grand boulevards, were now lost in this ever expanding industrial Mecca. Overcrowding among blacks and the have–nots of society was a harsh reality in Detroit's inner city ghetto, which went by the name of Black Bottom. Several families would cram into single family flats, often grateful to even have a place to stay. Many made due without luxuries like running water, and disease ran rampant along the dirty over–crowded streets. This migration was not often welcomed among white Detroiters. A message of "One Hundred Percent Americanism" was being spread and upheld by the Ku Klux Klan, and Negroes were not Americans. The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for Tipton's death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy's assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton's death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton's death. The significance of this claim is to love and be happy with yourself because as I stated in this essay, statistics shows that 91% of women are not happy about their bodies. We are barred at a young age with the responsibility of finding our calling before we even know what it is. As a 15 year old girl, I didn't know where to find this fire or even where to find my calling in the world. I was convinced one didn't exist, I was convinced that it was me against the world. It was me against the 7 billion screaming people trying to find their footing, and I felt like I didn't have a voice loud enough or feet big enough to ever do this. I felt like the world was suffocating me and there was never going to be a chance for another breath of air. All I could understand from the world, was we live, we suffer, we grow old and we die. Through the lens of conformity, one blinded by worldly desires, it is incredible how much we cannot see, and surprising how much we can see. But when we open our hearts and put on a lens of faith we can slowly begin to see what has been in front of us all along. For me, this was a world full of light, peace, and pure joy. I first put on a lense of faith on May 14, 2016, my 16th birthday, when I first read the Book of Mormon and went to church. I was later baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 19, 2017. I was born on Mother's Day of 2000. After that, he tried the paratroopers, but they said he didn't have the right kind of build for the job. So finally, he was forced to settle with the United States Army. After he was enlisted, he was sent to Camp Wolters, Texas, for basic training. During a session of close order drill, he passed out! His grumpy company commander tried to have Audie transferred to a cook and bakers' school because he thought Audie was too young and weak, but Murphy persisted on becoming a combat soldier. Finally, after 13 weeks of basic training, he was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland for advanced infantry training. Audie Murphy still had a lot of trouble and had to "fight the system" to get overseas and into actual combat. Family defines the most important things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to America, the land of dreams." I was only thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, "A community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester at Holy Family University, I am able to see how supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are. They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully, we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces. However, this statement made by Twain does not work with Christopher Nolan. While other directors try their best to hide their dark side, Nolan uses his dark side as a technique. The dark side has become Nolan's major key to success; he is known for many "dark" movies, Batman Begins, Batman: The Dark Knight, Inception, and many more. Many might wonder, the majority of Nolan's movies are about superheroes. How can superheroes be considered dark? It was produced and directed by Christopher Nolan who also directed The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Inception is based on the basic inspiration that a single idea in an individual's mind can be either the most valuable asset or the most dangerous weapon. Inception is a science fiction thriller movie. This genre deals with situations and technology that would be classified as scientific, but does not exist in real life. Inception connects with this because of the technology they used to enter the dreams. Although it was never explained, the machine seems to pump somnacin into the body. Somnacin is a drug utilized to initiate dream sharing and lucid dreaming. The movie is also classified as a thriller because of the exciting plot. It has intense chase scenes, gun fire, explosions, and fight scenes all within the dream state. The expectation for the movie based on the trailer would be constant action. It seems that the main character is away from his family and is trying to get home, but the only way he can is to do one last job. In the trailer the statement "your mind is the scene of the crime" is shown, this indicates that most of the content will be in the dreams of the subject. From the days of his youth he was being molded into a leader, having to lead a family by providing food and income from this day on. Wanting to make a difference and provide for his family and being inspired by his veteran uncle he decided to enlist into the military. The Greatest Heroes Of The War Born on June 20th of 1925 to a family of poor sharecroppers in small town Texas, Audie Leon Murphy had no idea he would soon be leaving for the deadliest war to ever plague the Earth. Fresh out of the horrors of the First World War, few would have thought that yet another, deadlier war was on the horizon. Even fewer would've thought that a farm boy from Texas would become one of the greatest heroes of the war. Audie Murphy was by all accounts a nobody. He and his family lived a quiet life, sticking to themselves and their farms. A young Murphy would simply help outside with the farm work, almost never wanting to be indoors. Once the war broke out, Murphy felt called to serve his country. He tried on several occasions to enlist in the Armed Forces underage as he was not of legal age to enlist. With the help of his sister, Corrine, he successfully enlisted in the military at the age of 17. He was given basic training, which he completed with ease. Audie Murphy's first war experience was in North Africa during the Allied offensive to remove Axis forces from the top of Africa. North Africa was a very important strategic point for both forces. If the Allies were successful in their push for control, it would be a very important starting point for an invasion of Fascist Italy, and ultimately Nazi Germany.
