1. PNS - Sila National Park
In order to guarantee the economic-social development of the population, the
Park promotes the experimentation of methods of administration of the
territory that are suitable and in fulfilling and sustaining the integration
between man and natural environment in order to preserve the nature.
The Park promotes, also through agreements with State, Regions and local
agencies, new compatible productives activities in innovative sectors and it
also protects the cultural traditional values.

2. The plan of the Park is integrated with the
measures of conservation of the Net System
Nature 2000.
Sila National Park includes in its territory 25
Nets of Communitary interest, 1 Net of National
interest and 3 Areas of Special Protection and,
therefore, offers opportunities for the
integration of the Directive Habitat with the
institutional system of the protected areas in
Italy. So, Sila National Park has formulated a
Plan of the Park integrated with the
Conservation Measures for the Ecological

3. • Conservation measures allow the sustainable
management of foresty and the use of its
resourses also throught biomass exploitation.
• At the moment, Sila National park has not
been able to implement the conservation
measures of the Net System Nature 2000,
because they haven’t been approved yet by
Calabria Region.

4. Sila National Park has partecipated in the Call of the Italian Ministry of the
Environment «Renewable Energies» presenting a project based on Directive
2009/28/EC and including actions related to energy efficiency in the public
and private sector.
Actions in the public sector:
-Replacement and installation of biomass boilers in 8 public buildings
-Photovoltaic shelter for sustainable mobility
-Training courses for engineers, designers and installers on renewable
energies
Actions in the private sector:
-Call for the construction of biomass boilers and solar thermal systems in
private houses and tourist facilities
-Call for the implementation of photovoltaics systems on private houses and
tourist facilities
-Call for electric bikes and mountain bikes for the mobility inside the Park
